Frederick Air

We moved to Frederick, MD in December 2016. WGL brought natural gas down our street this summer and we decided to convert from oil heat to gas, and to replace both our HVAC system and switch out our electric stove to natural gas. We had 2 estimates from installers that for one reason or another didn’t sit quite right with us. Then it was suggested that we call Frederick Air. I called and Dave Schmidt answered the phone and I was struck by how pleasant and knowledgable he came across compared to his two competitors I had spoken to previously. Two days later Dan Cline, himself a master plumber, came to our house ,on time, took a series of measurements, analyzed our ductwork, and with no pressure, educated us and discussed our options regarding available systems. Dan called a gas plumber to come and determine the best way to pipe into our kitchen for the stove. The plumber came within a half hour. Dan then gave us an all inclusive price for a high efficient system and we made a decision to go with them. A couple of days later a team of Frederick Air installers came and modified some ducts and installed the new system. Everybody they sent was very pleasant, professional, and left the place perfectly neat and clean. The next day All Around Plumbers, who Frederick Air subcontracted to run the gas lines, came and installed the necessary piping. After all of the work was completed Dan Cline came back and inspected everyone’s work and had a few items that he wanted fine tuned by both installers. Those refinements were done in a prompt and professional manner. So, bottom line, we now have a very quiet Bryant Evolution 2 Stage system installed and running like a finely tuned clock. The new thermostat is on WiFi which monitors the system and will notify both us and Frederick Air if anything is askew. We can also adjust pretty much every setting from our iPhone. All of this was done for about the same price as one of the other estimates we had previously, but we ended up with a far superior system. Additionally, I would also say the customer service from the women I spoke to in the office was friendly and responsive in every way. In conclusion, I would highly recommend the very quality conscious, privately owned Frederick Air to anybody for their HVAC needs, and though I don’t know the rest of the sales staff I would expressly ask for Dan Cline.

I don't have any experience with their pricing. They come every six months. They are always very careful to explain what they do to me.

$11K HVAC system was installed. This company has it going on!Nice, great communicators, cleaned up after themselves and always remived their shoes in my home. Met them at the Home Show and it was obvious they knew their product well. I was very impressed with them. Best customer service I have ever had!

Smooth. Quicker than estimated - hopefully without slacking on quality, though everything looked clean and well done. Everyone was very professional throughout the entire process.

They were thorough, quick, and prompt. They sent me a picture of the person who was coming. They provide a window of time during which they are going to come. They call to tell you that you are next on the list or going to be soon so that you have an idea of when the person is coming. If they are delayed, they let you know that. They are very thorough when they get here. We have a service contract that we pay separately, so there was no charge. This technician was an expert on Lennox which is what we have, even though they sell Bryant systems. I felt that he was especially knowledgeable about my particular system which was very nice. I can't think of any improvements.

Even though I had the air conditioner checked a month ago, they came out to help me try to find the dampness and see if the air conditioner was a possible problem. They have been working with me to find a solution. They didn't charge me much at all for their work today. They have been fine. They are responsive. They come when they say they are going to come. They call you ahead of time to tell you they are on their way. They email you a picture of the person that's coming. They are really good. I liked how attentive the technician was to my concerns and how hard he worked to help find me a solution, and to recommend where to go now that the air conditioner is not the problem. He didn't treat me like it was ridiculous or anything.

No significant problems; minor ones being addressed.

We got an annual maintenance contract at a discount at a charity silent auction so I don't know what their standard cost was. It was not a deal that they offered to anybody else. They were good, courteous, on time and professional. We didn't really pay their sticker price or anything like that. Just one person came out. They were here about 45 minutes. They got it done on time, it didn't take a lot of time, and the system still works. The area was clean after they got done.

Wanted to write a review regarding the wonderful service I had. From my first service phone call to them, they listened to the problem I was having with my unit and said they would try to have someone out hopefully in a few hours. Lucky for me they called back saying a technician was on his way. The technician came and diagnosed the problem right away. Had the part on his truck and was able to fix the problem right away. In the past with other places, they would come out and have to return the next day with the part. I would definitely use Frederick Air again.

We had 3 complete HVAC systems installed, a traditional central air system (Bryant Evolution Extreme), a 4-head multi-split and a single mini-split. Everything was handled professionally from the initial quote, information gathering and decision making process through to the installation and post-install support. Everything went perfectly with the heat pump upgrade. There were a few issues with the multi-split install but they were all taken care of in a reasonable amount of time and without charge.

The service visit was excellent, and the technician was ontime, friendly, extremely neat and careful, answered all questions and explainied how to use the system, and cleaned up completely.

Frederick Air installed my new heat pump unit on one of the hottest days of the year so far. Michael and Eric did a great job, very professional. I am very pleased with the service and the price of the installation, everything was delivered and installed as promised.

In the midst of record high temps, my A/C unit quit working completely. I called a service I had used before and left a message. When I didn't hear anything for an hour, I called Frederick Air. It's an old Frederick company that advertise 24/7 service. With guests coming for the evening, I was desperate to get the problem fixed. The on-call technician, Duane, called me less than 20 minutes later and arrived with a half hour. He was pleasant and professional, he knew just what to do, and he had every part he needed on his truck. I was so impressed by his responsiveness (even on a Saturday!), his knowledge, and his professional, helpful attitude that I signed up for a maintenance agreement with Frederick Air the same day. They responded to my emergency immediately when I needed them, and, best yet, they solved the problems! Highly recommended provider.

These guys were very professional and great to work with. Highly recommended!!!! They arrived on time and completed the install of a new AC/Furnace without any issues. They took great care in keeping everything clean during and after the install. They also gave us a few window units to keep us cool before the install date!!!

The team at Frederick Air could not have been more professional! From the moment we contacted them for an estimate to final cleanup at the worksite (our home), the team took our best interests to heart and provided the best product and service we could ask for. One of our heat pump units (a Lennox) had failed by leaking the coolant and seizing up the compressor. We first called our local Lennox dealer, but they did not inspire confidence. So, we called Frederick Air, and the salesman was prompt and courteous. He showed us the Bryant products, and we selected the appropriate system for our needs. Then, he offered two window units for our use, in case it got too warm in the house while we waited for installation. Three weeks later, the installation team showed up in the morning - on time - and completed the installation with minimum fuss. At the end of the day, the team leader walked me through our new system, from the outside portion, to the basement blower, to the new wireless thermostat that can be controlled via my smart phone. I would definitely look to Frederick Air for our future needs. We will certainly be retaining them for a service contract in the future. When our second heat pump fails, we know who to call!

We've been using them for about 8 years. They're very thorough in their inspections of all the system workings. Their communication at the end to describe what they've just done is also impressive. They're easy to talk to. A single person comes out and they're always in uniform, introduce themselves and show up on time. They call ahead before they come. You can schedule online. They usually try to send the same workers and we've had the same person come out here several times.

I found the draft induction motor on line, as well as the hot surface igniter. Each cost less than $50; and overnight shipping for both was about $25. I didn't order @ first because I thought it would be quicker and easier to buy the parts from our local Carrier supplier (Carrier Mid-Atlantic). Unfortunately but understandably, they only sell parts to licensed HVAC techs. I have a home improvement contractor's license, but that wasn't sufficient. Again, understandable and probably necessary from the standpoint of legal liability.. As luck would have it, the induction motor went out for good last night -- just a few hours after my service call. Still no fault of the merchant, as their tech correctly noted that it was on borrowed time. Seeing as I couldn't get the part until the following day, I figured I'd just have to bite the bullet and pay this company to get the part and install it. So I called them up; they reviewed my file and the electronic notes made by the tech when he was at my house; and then quoted me over $700 for the repair. That was for the inducer motor only -- not the hot surface igniter. Given that I already knew what the cost of the part would be, I was a little alarmed by the price and thought that perhaps there was some mistake or misunderstanding. When I asked if they could break that out their quote into parts and labor, the guy on the phone refused to do so and said it was "flat rate pricing." So I called another HVAC tech and did some online research to see what sort of labor was involved, and, just like the service tech told me, it was a quick and easy job and required no special tools. Not that I needed him to tell me that, but it confirms that I'm not simply taking the word of anyone who posts an article or video on the Internet. Note that it's well below freezing today, and I'm home with a sick child. I mentioned this and reminded them that I was a long-time customer, and they absolutely stonewalled me. I demanded cancellation of my service contract, which they obliged (duh), but I'm compelled to inform the public so others can avoid this merchant.

We woke up to the sound of our heater running in a cold house on a cold morning. The fan was running, but there was clearly no heat being generated. Feeling foolish for putting off having our furnace serviced as long as we did, we called the company on the service sticker, Frederick Air. Prior owners of our house had used them, but this was out first contact with them. We were given a four hour window arrival time of 2-6. However, they were able to get our great technician to us by I think noon. The technician, Duane, was great, and was able to quickly diagnose and fix our problem, and gave us some very useful suggestions. He was also very patient with the fact that our four year old was hopelessly fascinated with the whole process, and excessively chatty. It was a very positive experience, and not only was the problem fixed, but it was fixed for a reasonable price and I am confident in the quality of the work done, and that I was given knowledge to help keep my furnace from having similar issues in the future. Everyone I spoke with at the company was great and I would not hesitate to recommend Frederick Air to others.

A very knowledgable woman talked to us on the telephone to see if the leaking problem was something we could handle without a service call. We probably could have but it had been awhile since last tune up so we scheduled service anyway. It was refreshing to know however that it wasn't all about the service call money that they were after. She spent a good deal of time explaining things and making helpful suggestions. Service was the next day. Serviceman was prompt, courteous, and knowledgable. He went over everything he was doing and also making helpful suggestions to prevent potential problems in the future. He gave us paperwork and forms to send to our electric company for rebates we had no idea existed. I will not hesitate to use Frederick Air again.

Frederick Air was fantastic, they showed up at the designated time, were efficient, cleaned up after and very helpful understanding the new unit. Always professional and reliable, they are definitely worth a call for your AC needs.

Sales person was very professional. Very down to earth - did not feel pressured. Very reasonable price. The two guys who installed the unit did a great just. Very thorough with cleaning up. Very polite. Would definitely recommend them to family and friends.
