Motivational Movers

Our experience with Motivational Movers was outstanding. I bought the 4 hours Angie's List deal for $299 after I read the reviews of this company. The reviews were right on because Makhi and his crew were prompt, professional, and worked really hard during the 4 hours. I believe I got a great value using this company. Although some of the furniture did not fit in our new home, Makhi and his crew tried as hard as they could to see if it would fit. I would definitely use this company again. I rate our experience as a 10 out of 10.

I needed to move quickly, setting up my move date 3 days ahead of when I actually moved. I checked Angie's list and one of the big eye catching things for me was the coupon I found for Motivation Movers for $299 for 4 hours and 2 guys including 25 miles. The movers called before my appointment to let me know they were running 15 minutes late; for me, it is much better to call than leave me wondering so I appreciated the heads up. The two guys that came were very careful with all of my stuff, knowing how to move my 55" rear projector TV and that they should not move it up stairs, I had no choice but they warned beforehand so I was glad to see they knew things like this. My apartment is down a flight of tight stairs so getting sofa's and that TV out was definitely something me and some buddies would have not been able to do without destroying something. Once we got to my new house, it was a 50+ft walk down a small hill to my house but they again quickly managed to move everything in. The guys that came and that I spoke to on the house were professional. My own concern was that when they arrived, there was concern that it would have been better to have a third mover because of all of the stairs/hill on each side. It took an hour longer than the coupon was for, but the cost was well below what I have paid before and I still spent over $100 less than I did for a much smaller shorter move in the past. I hope to be where I am for a long time but I would definitely look them up in the future or recommend them to a friend.

This was quite possibly the best move I have ever had, and I have moved quite a few times in my lifetime for work. The team was courteous, professional, friendly and moved my items with care. I was very impressed, as Motivational movers was more professional than previous "big name" movers I had used. I will definitely be using this mover in the future. To start with, the contact from Amanda, the office manager was very professional. She provided clear answers to my questions and checked in both prior to the move and right after the move was completed. As for the moving team themselves, they were amazing. They were polite and never complained, eventhough I was moving into a 3 story walk-up with no elevator. My items were delivered to the apartment with care and placed where I asked. I will definitely be using Motivational Movers for my next move. They also allowed me to add some items that weren't previously on my list without complaint. (However, if you plan to do this, realize it will take them extra time to move those items. I was happy to pay for the extra time, as I needed those items moved.) The only issue in the entire move was out of the control of the movers, which was they were about an hour and a half late, due to the major interstate they had to use to get here being entirely closed down due to an accident. However, they notified me as soon as they knew of the incident and kept me posted the whole way. And they still got me moved in a timely manner. Which was very responsive, if you ask me. I gave them a C because they were technically a good bit late, but it was fine because I was able to adjust my schedule. They were also one mover down, but they added additional time to my move to compensate for being one man down out of the 4. Honestly, the 3 worked harder than any other movers I have seen, so being down one person didn't significantly impact the schedule and was covered in the additional time alloted for my move.

They arrived on schedule. We walked through the house and they took notes on the furniture and boxes. Prior to the movers arriving I put 3 x 5 note cards on every box so that the movers would know exactly where to place the boxes once we reached my apartment. The movers appreciated the fact that they didn't have to guess where boxes were to be placed. Everything was wrapped and placed on the truck much sooner than they expects. We arrived at my apartment and they efficiently moved everything in. The movers were very polite, hard workers. I can't say enough good things about the movers or the way in which they moved my belongings.

I would recommend this company to any and everyone! They showed up within their hour window and were ready to move! Their crew knew what they were doing and had a plan although I did not. They moved fast and efficiently and NOTHING was broken when we arrived to our new home. Look no further! This is the moving crew for you. PS, not sure if you'll have the same luck, but i came in under my estimate time frame!!

They called me back and said they could not do the job. I appreciated the honest, prompt response.

I called Motivational Movers when I saw their deal on Angie's List for 3 movers for 4 hours for $439. The company quickly scheduled my move date and showed up in the time frame they specified. Overall the move went relatively well. The movers were polite and handled my belongings with care. I also appreciated how the clock time did not start until they picked up the first item, unlike some other companies I have used in the past that charge to drive to my residence before even starting the work. My main complaint is that while I paid for 3 movers, only 2 movers were doing most of the work. I went over the prepaid 4 hours, and had to pay an additional $175.00. Now I can't help but wonder that if all 3 movers (which i paid for) worked equally , I may not have had to pay as much in additional costs. This may be the company's "staffing policy" but it would've been nice to have had an understanding of the movers' roles prior to the move, cause it makes it appear that customers are not getting what they paid for. I did however, make sure I tipped the 2 movers that did the bulk of the work. As of now I will not use them again based upon what I just mentioned. I hate to ding them for this since they are a friendly group of guys but this is business. I would recommend that when selecting this company, just make sure you have a clear understanding of what you are paying for.

Hi We give Motivational Movers an A for the moving service they gave us last week. They called ahead, arrived with the requisite number of people for the move, and professionally handled the moving job at both ends - both receiving and depositing our possessions. They were particularly attentive to the tight parking spaces, and the unloading and placement of furniture. I would heartily recommend them to anyone in the area planning a move. We received a discount on the moving service, and it was a very good savings - more than $200. was saved.

This is the most dishonest company I have ever dealt with. I ended up having to call the police on them. They pulled the old load the truck and increase the price trick. Before the arrival, Amanda was extremely responsive and answered all of my questions. The actual day of service was a disaster. Let's just say police were involved. The day before, Amanda confirmed the policy when I asked a direct question about her statement of additional charges for weather delays. Again, she confirmed that 1212.50 would be the maximum price. I have the emails to prove it. First of all, they didn;t arrive until 11:45 a.m., although the appointment window was 9: 00 - 10:00 a.m. Amanda claimed that their vehicle was vandalized the night before and they needed to get a hold of a Budget Rental Truck. They showed up in a 14' foot truck. I told the driver at the door that the truck did not appear big enough. They toured my home and assured me it was. So, I allowed them to do the work. The problems continue... I ordered wardrobe boxes they forgot the poles. They did however, agree not to charge me for the boxes if I supplied the poles, which I agreed to do. Price increase #1 - my fault - I estimated 40 boxes. There were actually 126 boxes. So, I agreed to pay the price increase for two hours of extra labor. I should have been leary then because this price increase was not done until 1/2 of the boxes were loaded. Price increase #2 - MM's fault. Amanda called at 9:00 pm. Yes, it took that long. She stated that her employees said that I had oversized furniture and they were too tired to continue. Again, after the truck was partially loaded. As a result, they would come back tomorrow and I would be charged. I told Amanda that I would not accept additional charges as she was trying to nickel and dime me. I put her on speaker phone with her employees and me and we all agreed that the furniture was not oversized but she would not hear any of it. She repeated her claim several times. I gave her the the brand and collection for the furniture so that she could check out the specs online and she ignored that. I told her I was moving from 1500 sf townhouse and cannot fit oversized furniture into the townhome let alone get it to the second floor because of the winding stairs. In spite of us all telling her that she misinterpretted her employees, she insisted that the furniture was indeed oversized and she was going to have her folks leave my furniture and she would refer me to collections. I hung up and told her to do what she had to do. A few minutes later the driver came in to tell me that they decided they were going to keep the items they did load until I paid them in full for the hours they worked. Mind you that only the boxes had been delivered to my new home at that point and none of the furniture. I blocked their truck and called the police. After a two hour stand-off the police agreed to let them go and assured me that they would be willing to testify on my behalf if need be. Furthermore, MM wanted to be paid in cash! I will be at the courthouse first thing Monday morning! UPDATE: Upgrading to a "D" because I did not need to go to court after all. The Operations Manager contacted me and we worked out an amicable solution. He was the best thing about this process.

Definitely recommend this company. I have never had any move go perfectly, but this was as good as it gets. Using the Big Deal coupons saved a lot of money up front. They arrived on time and took care with moving my belongings. A couple of things got dinged, but I would have damaged a lot more stuff on my own. After it all was done, they worked out the final price to compensate me for minor damage. If not for that, I would have given them an "A" across the board. Best value for moving.

They had a coupon for $100 off. They were on time but there was an hour delay in the middle because of an error they made. We would use them again.

A team of 3 members arrived on time as scheduled, surveyed the items to be moved and began wrapping my furniture with protective clothes. They were very professional and efficient. All pieces arrive at their new destination unharmed in record time. The price was right for the job! My big deal coupon made the price even better. I'm definitely interested in the other services this company offers. Thanks for a job well done!

We have moved a million times, but had never actually paid for professional moving services. Having combined two households and purchased a new house, we were overwhelmed at the prospect of moving. So, despite the horror stories I have heard from my friends, including destroyed furniture, missing items, and an actual two month delay in delivery of items being moved cross-country, we decided to break down and give a professional mover a try. We hired Motivational Movers, and now I am wondering why I didn't do this sooner. The team arrived on time, ready to go. It was amazing to watch them work, moving loads of heavy stuff. We had a lot of things to deal with but Makhi kept the guys moving in an organized manner. It was brutal. We were moving a ton of stuff from a high rise apartment on the 14th floor, through the elevator, into a truck, and into to our new house. We discovered that a prized possession, a giant, six plus feet tall, ornate, antique headboard for our queen-size bed, wouldn't fit up the stairs to make it into any of the bedrooms. Undeterred, Makhi coolly and carefully removed the bedroom window and executed a marvelous feat of engineering with an intricate series of ropes, pulleys, and amazing hand/eye coordination. He smoothly and easily lifted the headboard off the ground, onto the roof of the porch, and into the house. It was really cool to watch! There was a tiny little scratch on the headboard, but it wasn't bad. We were very impressed with the way they managed the move, but the way they managed the ding was even better. Makhi cheerfully repaired it professionally, promptly, and without any complaint, and the piece actually looks better than it has in years. I really can't believe how good it looks - they certainly left things it in better shape than they found them. I would absolutely use the company again, and I would gladly refer my friends. Makhi is great!

For starters, I highly recommend this moving firm, and advised them to use me as a reference as needed. The final price included about $350 for all the packing supplies, and I also tipped them $120 for all the hard work. The owner Mekhai is a very good guy, very nice, personable, etc. His sister (I think) was the primary packing consultant. She was very sweet, and very thoughtful, suggesting such things as perhaps we want to keep this or that out so that we can put it in an overnight bag. They were very careful with all our items, showed up early(!) for the pack, and on time for the move. The packing took longer than expected, but it was very meticulous. Worth mentioning also that this was on 10/30/11, literally the worst weather day of the year, with cold rain, sleet, and snow. I can recommend them without hesitation. They really added a personal touch, and really great customer service--hard to find in a mover.

Excellent, especially considering my last move for the same items cost almost three times as much and took twice as long (with an 8 man team and three vehicles!). Owner came to the job himself along with another associate to supervise in addition to the four man team which was friendly, careful and efficient. No damage to any items. Only downgraded on punctuality because they were stuck in traffic, but not really a big deal but shou. Worked with my schedule up to the last minute.

The move was smooth, excellent service and good price!

They were wonderful. I was taken aback by the Budget Rental Truck, but that's just a vehicle. They met me at the storage unit on time and I received excellent service. There were intermittent downpours that day and they did everything they could to protect our belongings. They were able to load the truck without incident then it began to rain. When we arrived at our new home, prior to moving anything inside, they laid down mats to reduce/prevent tracking water. We had other boxes inside and had moved them outside to make room for the incoming items and guess what; they were wet. Since they were finishing-up well withing the four hour job minimum I asked that they bring those items inside, which they did and still finished ahead of schedule. They were friendly and professional and wouldn't hesitate hiring them again. Just, a note. I had taken advantage of their Angie's List coupon and was reluctant to do so because we had not settled on our home and could not provide a moving date. I had scheduled one moving date based upon when we were due to settle and needed to change that date because settlement had been changed. Anticipating that possibility, they made certain I understood their cancellation process which prevented the incurrence of additional fees.

Fantastic. They arrived 45 minutes late but made up for it by bringing two extra guys. It took exactly the number of hours I expected (7). They worked hard, made a heroic effort getting my large, super heavy, antique desk upstairs. They were friendly - when they knicked the wall on our staircase, they repaired it immediately, even though I told them it was unnecessary. Truly, Motivational Movers changed my view of moving. They made it easy. Their cost is more than reasonable. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

They were great. They were on time and they didn't damage anything. They were pretty quick. They were courteous.

I saw that others on this site had good things to say about Motivational Movers, so I contacted them about my move from a 1 bedroom apartment to another 1 bedroom apartment nearby and bought their special at the time for $129. I must say I was very pleased with the move. The day I moved a hurricane ended up baring down on the DMV area, so I called them to come early and they obliged. They had me moved in record time (in the rain no less) , so that i could get hunkered down before the hurricane got in the area. They were very professional and the owner was very helpful in talking me through the whole move process and put me at ease. I highly recommend this company!

Everyone did a great job under trying circumstances. Most importantly, the company seemed to care about making sure our new floors were not damaged and handled our items with care. The move took a long time because we did not have full time access to the nearest freight elevators, and we were not as well prepared as we should have been. The team hung in there, however, and we finished around 4 a.m. Obviously, with the length of time it took, the price went up to more than we had expected, but I can't really blame that on the movers.

Overall my experience was very good! The actual owner of the company came and supervised his 4 person team that packed me up and moved my belongings. The only reason why they recieved the sole "B" grade in professionalism is because they had one "weak link" in their crew, but I was told he was a new guy that hadn't been properly broken in.

As I said before and to sum it on one word: seamless!
