Motivational Movers

Moving was excellent, we paid a flat rate for 4 movers for 5 hours, and they showed up with 4 movers, plus a foreman who directed the work hands-on and a company rep who supervised. Friendly people, worked hard and moved fast. Showed up on-time. A couple of notes: 1) They did not wrap most furniture in blankets or plastic to move them. Other movers I've had in the past would wrap everything up beforehand. They were careful and didn't do any real damage, maybe one item scraped a wall a bit once or twice. And I believe they would have done this on request. 2) You need to fill out an estimate form on their website, even when buying through Angie's list. I filled it out accurately, however they had substantially over-estimated the work required. They said we needed a 5-man team for 8 hours, and it took a 4-man team around 4 hours to do the work, start to finish. I had my own idea about the effort and purchased the 4-man, 5 hr package, which ended up being the right deal for us. I did have everything ready to go, all boxes packed and stacked, exercise equipment dismantled, etc, that may have made a bit of a difference in the time spent. Overall, they did an outstanding job at a very nice price, I would recommend these movers.

I did not dislike anything. They were great. They were the best movers that I have had. What stood out were the person, the communication between us and them, and the friendliness; they were very kind. They asked a lot of questions and they left no stone unturned. The pricing was awesome because they were a third of whatever everybody else was trying to charge.

I purchased the deal $479(Moving-1365409-1) with Motivational Movers. However, when Motivational Movers contacted me they came up with and an estimate that was outrageously more than the deal. I received an e-mail from them saying it would instead cost a total a $1,218 - $1,299, that was well more than what I expected. Therefore, I need a refund. They never performed the service and I went with a different moving company.

They came when scheduled (actually a little early). They brought 5 movers, had the house packed up in one hour. They broke down a couple of Ikea beds and reassembled them in Washington, DC . One was ever put together better than it was before! Even though not all of the guys on the team were experienced movers, the head mover had 30 years of experience and he gave expert supervision. All belongings were moved without damage. I would use them again and would recommend them.

The service was great. Two guys came out and it didn't take them that long to complete job. They moved heavy furniture from the main living area to upstairs bedroom. I would highly recommend them. They did a great job and were nice and polite. What we liked the most was that they were on time.

The estimate was way out of our price range, and we had already scheduled with another mover, because they were much less expensive, partially due to a different price model-- no fees per mile, which cuts down on what I consider significant costs. However, I feel compelled to give them a great review, because the estimate email that Amanda sent was a terrific example of thoroughness and professionalism, and that, if done right, prospects don't have to become customers to still become fans of your company. First of all, I received the very detailed quote after 10pm on a Sunday, so responding to my inquiry was obviously important to Amanda. That sort of thing matters to me. Second, my inquiry was detailed and long-- and, frankly, probably tedious. But Amanda made it clear that she had read it, because she explained, in informative (non-tedious) detail, five factors that went into the calculation of my estimate, which were specific to our situation. I think that's terrific. Finally, she gave some great suggestions to save time on moving day. Now, that may not mean much to some people, but for me, it does. Moving is my KRYPTONITE. I hate it. Abhor it. Dread it like nothing else in the world. So anything that adds value to my planning strategy, like suggestions from a professional moving company, helps me feel better about what feels like an unsurmountable task. That is invaluable to me, and I really appreciate it. It's rare to receive a "first touch" from a company that leaves such a positive impression. I think it says a lot about the company, and it makes me want to encourage those for whom the tightest of tight budgets aren't the biggest concern to absolutely get in touch with them to see if they meet your needs. If price wasn't an issue, I'd want to give them my business.

They did a great job getting the furniture moved within the 4 hour time limit.

I contacted Motivational Movers. I went to their website and had a basic calculation performed of what it would cost me to move. I decided to find a mover closer to where I live to keep my cost down. This is no reflection on this company. The Angie's List reviews are highly favorable of this company.

The move went well. I had purchased the deal to use Motivational Movers. I was able to box the majority of the items up to help the move go quicker. The movers came and broke down the bed frames and headboards so that it was easier to move and reassembled the beds in the new place. Great moving company, I would recommend using them.

All in all, the move went well. Motivational movers worked with me to schedule a day and time and arrived promptly as usual (this was the 2nd time we had used them). It took roughly 3.5 hours to move everything out of our cape cod and into the townhome. The leader, Mahki, was great and was in control of his team and how they placed and moved furniture. Unfortunately, his team wasn't as professional. We have nicks and dents in our new home where they hit the walls with furniture. Also, I was initially thrilled that we came in under the estimate (like the first time they moved us) however this time, we were charged a minimum of 4 hours (which I totally get) in addition to mileage and other fee's. It was an additional cost we weren't expecting. Lastly, and the biggest peeve of mine, following the move the entire crew stood around in front of the truck, which was parked outside our home, for maybe 20 minutes smoking cigarettes and talking. While I understand that they worked very hard and needed a "break", I didn't really care for the first impression they left my neighbors with. I really liked Motivational Movers and their pricing which is why I wanted to work with them during our most recent move, however, instead of leaving me with yet another glowing review, I am turned off and most likely won?t use them again. I?d rather pay the extra money and get a professional crew who don?t appear to be hung over from the previous night?s parting and people who care about their reputation.

I purchased this deal thinking it was local to Baltimore only to discover that Motivational Movers is out of the DC area. The travel charges in the fine print would negate the good deal as the move is only 0.7 miles in the same neighborhood in a Baltimore suburb. Therefore, paying to have the mover come from DC would not make sense. Additionally, once the deal was purchased, I received an email from the company that I would need to contact them for an estimate in order to schedule the move. In my mind, this negates the Big Deal. When I tried to call the company during business hours on Monday, July 7th, no one answered the phone at Motivational movers. Thanks for taking care of this refund.

Make the appointment.. well received and professional. MM provided me an estimated quote based on the details that I provided. The quote was right on, but in the end it required an adjustment because there were a few items I left out of the quote. MM informed me of the adjustment prior to moving the additional items to ensure I was in agreement. There was a person present that was responsible for all of the administrative duties, which allowed the guys to continue the work. There were a couple of items that was previously damaged and MM let me know that they had discovered these items and it was documented prior to moving to cover both me and the company. The movers were professional and packed up the truck. There were a few items that couldn't fit on the truck, so one truck had to return and get those items... I was not charged for this additional pickup. Everything was delivered to the new house and assembled as it originally was... They did a very good job... The thing that I would say is important is that the staff should have greeted everyone when they came into the house. Its a small thing, but its a big thing when you come into someone's home... it makes everyone feel at ease...Oh, the movers arrived about 1 hour later than the original agreed upon time. Nevertheless, If I were to move again ... they would be my first call. btw... I had received a quote from another moving company that was approximately $700.00 higher.

It was fine. They completed the job half the time that have estimated. I loved how they prepared everything pretty in advance.

They showed up on time and quickly moved large heavy storage furniture from the first site and then moved regular household furniture and belonging from the town house. They disassembled furniture and reassembled it at the final location. They wrapped mattresses in protective coverings and padded all furniture. They were very accomodating to our requests. Moving the large, heavy furniture out of the second story of the town house was difficult because of the narrow stairs and tight turns but they did a great job. They also moved a 4 foot long by 2 foot wide by 2 feet deep aquarium with the gravel still inside. It was really heavy but they handled it. Micah, the team leader, was friendly and professional. The team worked really hard and at a fast, steady pace. They finished almost 2 hours under their estimate which saved us some good money. The move date was sudden and the communication was not as responsive as I would have liked. We were anxious about the move and would have liked them to answer the phone but instead we communicated by email. Everything worked out more than OK but they can improve their phone responsiveness.

It went perfectly! They were fast and very careful with the belongings. I would receommend this teram to anyone needing moving assistance.

Every time I contacted them to schedule they made it seem like I needed to schedule weeks in advance and I wound up having to use another company.

These guys arrived on time, worked in the rain without complaint and completed that move (about 5 miles) in less than the 4 hours of coupon time. So I asked them if they would move a few things around at my house, including a 500 pound safe, and they said as long as it was done within the 4 hr block of time there would be no extra charge. They finished with some time still remaining. The crew were all pleasant, especially the crew boss. I gave them each a tip for their professionalism and hard work. I will use this firm again.

My experience was wonderful. They were efficient and on time for the appointment. They were very willing to help with the move and they were curteous. The worked really hard during the appointment.

Motivational Movers were professional I did had to contact the company to discuss my move. Unfortunately we did not use this company, the price was more than anticipated,and we had to use a different company.

I purchased the move special for four movers for four hours with a truck for 409.00 . They took 10 days to get me an estimate, and when it came in they determined the balance due would be aprox 600 dollar. Service: T4 (4 member move team) Rate: $145.00/hr Minimum service: 4 hrs Mileage Fee: $65.00 ($65.00 for up to 25 miles, $0.79 per mile over 25) Fuel Surcharge: $29.37 Transport Fee: $16.66 Mattress Covers: $46.00 Safe Fee: $150.00 Estimated time: 6.25 hrs to 6.75 hrs Estimated cost: $1213.28 to $1285.78 AL Coupon Credit: -$580.00 Estimated Balance Due: $633.28 to $705.78 I understand the safe fee, but, the mileage fee/fuel feel/transport fee/mattress cover fee should have be included in the coupon. Deceptive, stay away.

Have not encountered movers requiring payment to provide estimates. Seems a scam. The other option provided was to fill in thei form on their website on the basis of which theyd pro ide an estimate guaranteed 'provided all the information was as represented'. Since there;s always room for this disparity to be claimed (perhaps missing the total estimate on boxes or whatever) it does not provide much assurance.

Polite canned replies, waited 2+ days to get quote when we mentioned tight schedule Charging way more than other local companies doing exact same thing. To many incidental charges, why would I be charged travel charges for cleaning crew coming less than 20 mins to job site?? I don't charge my company travel for me driving into work everyday. Charging 35$ for mattress pads when exact same thing less than 15$ at other movers Unhappy because I wanted to use a company close to my house to save time and money and it just wasn't there, about 24 hours to slow and about 35% more costly Just don't get it!

The movers were friendly and worked hard. My only complaint is that much of my furniture ended up getting dinged.

They were fine. They scuffed a couple of pieces of furniture, but they did a great job of repairing it.
