Motivational Movers

We used an Angie's List deal to book with Motivational. Despite the somewhat short notice, they were able to accommodate our Friday move, no problem. The big day arrived and they didn't show up in their window. I finally called after the window had passed, and was told they had gotten a flat tire and would be another 30 minutes. I asked why they hadn't called me to tell me, and they offered to bring an extra guy in at no charge. Given that we were using a time-limited deal, I happily accepted, as I figured it might reduce any chance I would go over the time I had purchased. When they finally did show up, they got right to work and were very efficient. They finished the move just under the time we had the coupon for (and well under their estimated time for a house our size) and took great care of our things.

I always wonder when I read a gushing review of any product or service "did somebody who worked for the company write this" or "That review is too good there has to be something wrong with them". Well, let me assure you I do not work for Motivational Movers. With my bad back. Not in a million years. I moved from Washington DC to Richmond, VA. A distance of 106 miles. I mention that because the charge for long distance moving is of course more expensive than a local one. And yet they threw in the six miles. That may not sound like a lot. But if you have moved as often as I have you know that the usual moving company will try to gouge you at some point. They came to my house on time. Loaded things quickly and we were in Richmond in a decent amount of time considering the terrible traffic between here and there. At the end of the move, after they had left, we discovered that the leather arms of my couch had been torn. The couch was almost new and had great sentimental value. I was furious. Later we would discover that no one had that particular color of leather. So to put the couch right. The whole thing would have to be re-upholstered!! I thought they're never going to go for this. I've got a fight on my hands. It'll take months and in the end...who knows. But that's not what happened. They were good. They were generous. And they kept their word every step of the way. They even gave me a choice of what I wanted. They offered to come and get the couch, take it back to DC and have it fixed. And then deliver it back to me when it was done. Or I could find a person I liked locally to fix it and they would pay for everything. I chose the later of the two. Like I said the whole couch had to be covered. The final bill was twice what the couch was worth!!! I thought again. They're never going to go for this. Again...that's not what happened. They payed the bill without a blink. Now I have for all practical purposes a brand new couch. Believe me when I say these are good people in an old fashion sense. How good? If your mom has to move...call Motivational Movers. They will take care of her. Just like they took care of me. Thanks for reading this.

Motivational Movers were great. They were fabulous. The were absolutely just fabulous. I would definitely use them again. They moved a ton of stuff out. The actually helped us arrange furniture in the new house. We ended up paying more than the coupon, because we kept them longer. We needed extra time, because things we thought were going to fit didn't. They were super super nice, super organized, and super careful. I packed what I could in the time that I had and then they came in and helped pack the rest. They wasted no time or effort. They were wonderful and I will definitely call them again. On every single category I would give them triple As. You could give them 100 As.

I purchased the Big Deal that they had offered on Angie's List - $230 for 4 hours, 3 Movers plus a truck. When I went to set up the service date, the rep asked me to go onto their website to fill out a free estimate form. I asked why I had to do this since I had already purchased the service, and she said so they can have an idea of what the move was going to entail such as if there was an elevator, how many steps, etc.... I filled out the form and then received an email asking me to pick a different service - one that cost $1250 and one that cost $1150. I told the rep that I did not have a lot to move and the move shouldnt take that long. The rep told me that based on the information I provided the move should take 10 hours!?! There was a lot of going back and forth just trying to get the original Deal I purchased, and the rep at one point even wanted me to fill out a detailed list of exactly what I wanted moved and anything else that was not on the list I would have to do a separate contract for. This totally felt like a Bait and Switch and did not leave me with a lot of confidence for the job that was to be done. I explained to the rep that all I wanted was the terms of the big deal and that I was paying for 4 hours of moving and that I wanted to move as much as I could in that 4 hours. The day of the move the movers were on time and the movers did a good job overall. We had the entire move done within 3 1/2 hours.

Team arrived near the end of the arrival window. Move went smoothly. Team was very professional. Finished within our window. We visited their site in advance to determine our needs... and we are glad we did!

The movers arrived on time and were taken on a tour of the house and shown all the furniture that needed to be moved to the apartment. Each piece was tagged with a blue smiley face to make it easier for them to identify the items. They were shown a diagram of the apartment and the planned layout of the furniture. They packed up the van carefully and efficiently and unloaded it in the same manner. Their work was of the highest standard with a very happy and caring attitude. They finished in less time than we expected and did a thorough job. I would highly recommend them to anyone that needed a moving company that takes the worry out of moving.

The crew arrived on time and immediately began assessing the situation to make the move as quickly and efficiently as possible. They reviewed the details of the job with me before beginning to ensure that it was to be completed to my satisfaction. I would not hesitate to use Motivational Movers again. Customer service is their priority!

I highly recommend Motivational Movers. I have made 8 moves in the last 25 years so I am accustomed to the process and the stresses that accompany a move. Motivational Movers were exceptional. I did all of the packing myself and paid for 4 men and a truck. It was a delightful surprise when 4 men showed up in a perfectly sized truck for our 3 bedroom single family home, perfectly on time, ALONG with a Crew Chief and a Customer Car Representative that stayed on the job for the entire day. This was included in the price I had been quoted. I could not have been happier and their presence made the day STRESSLESS and smooth. Everyone worked as a team, had great attitudes and were very careful with our belongings. The Crew Chief and the Customer Care Representative walked through the house with me upon arrival and made notes for each room. They communicated both with me and with the crew very effectively throughout the day. Beds were disassembled at the old house and reassembled in our new home. Furniture was rearranged after they put it where I told them and then I thought better of it. Because my Significant Other was away, I was a little nervous about being the only one there "directing" the flow. With the outstanding Crew Chief and Customer Care Representative, and their hard-working crew, I had no worries and the job was finished in record time. We are now in our "Dream Home" and I hope we never have to move again ... but if we do, the first and only people we will call will be Motivational Movers. We appreciated the commitment to providing excellent customer service from each member of the team and from the start (booking the company) to the finish (the moving van driving away).

These guys did a great job for me today. They finished the job in just about 3 hours after estimating 4 - 4.5. They arrived within the window they had specified, and kept me updated on their exact arrival time. They were courteous and helpful. I would definitely use them again. My only complaint is about the flat mileage and gas fees they charged. They traveled only 1.2 miles from my home to the storage facility and still charged me the full, flat fee in both categories that totaled $91. This seemed outrageous to me and they refused to modify it when I raised the issue. One small recommendation for anyone who may use them in the future: make sure you are right there while they are working. They were great about targeting the proper items for removal from my home, but I ended up giving them significant direction on how to load my storage unit to be sure everything fit into it. To their credit, they took my suggestions in stride and arranged things exactly the way I wanted them to.

THEY ARRIVED ON TIME & STARTED LOADING THE ITEMS SCHEDULED TO BE MOVED. THEY THEN STOPPED AT MY STORAGE UNIT & ADDED THE CONTENTS TO THE TRUCK. ONCE WE ARRIVED AT THE NEW HOUSE, THEY QUICKLY UNLOADED THE ITEMS & PLACED THEM IN THE DESIGNATED PLACES. THE ENTIRE PROCESS WAS VERY WELL HANDLED.

Both jobs were performed with expertise. There were several "difficult" entrances/egresses which were handled without damage to the furniture or the walls. The staff was courteous and professional. They worked well with each other and with their supervisor. The Interstate move was a flat rate. There were no "up" charges or any other additional charges at the end. I paid the estimate. The Intrastate move was hourly. The staff finished early and I paid less than the quoted amount. Other than the lateness (I was called on both occasions regarding the pending lateness), I was extremely pleased. I used Angie's List coupons for both moves. I added to the cost of the coupon.The price was fair (there were cheaper quotes, even with the discounted coupon), but the service was more than worth the price. I highly recommend them.

Motivational Movers did well by us. The crew showed up on time and finished in under their estimated time. Scheduling went well. They did not originally have our desired day available, but they called back after a cancellation. The crew took good care of our furniture and materials.

I am preparing to move from a 2 bedroom 1 bath condo ten miles down the road. I have moved often and know approximately how long it takes dependent on the number of movers. I shopped my information to moving companies and received at least 8 quotes ranging from 3.5 hours to 4.5 hours for 2-3 movers. Then I saw a big deal Angie's List special from this company for 4 hours with 3 men. I thought this would be perfect since that was in the range of my estimates. I purchased the deal and scheduled the move. The date they had available was later than I wanted but I was fine with that. They asked me to send them the list of the items I needed moved. Mind you, all they had to do was move it, not pack it. I did, and they sent me a quote for 7.5 hours with 3 men!!! So, in addition to me purchasing the "big deal" , I would have to purchase another 3.5 hours!! This sounded like a big scam to me, and then I realized that I had read about this company and their lazy workers on the net (not on Angie's List). Needless to say, I was certainly NOT going to pay a company for 7.5 hours for three men to move a 2 bedroom condo (that doesn't even have two beds) ten miles down the road!!! Ridiculous and greedy! Motivational Movers, I would give an "F", but Angie's List, I'd give an "A" for refunding my money!

Great job by a friendly and professional crew! I would definitely use them again.

The movers were very nice. However, they were late arriving for the appointment. There was plenty of help but the truck they rented could have been a little larger. I emphasize "very nice people."

I received an estimate from Motivational Movers for moving items from NC to MD and contracted with them for the move. The afternoon before the scheduled 8:00 AM move the next morning, I called Motivational Movers, as I was driving from MD to NC, to obtain the name of the employee that would be meeting me the next morning to load and drive the truck. I was told that they had subcontracted out the move to another company, and that they didn't know the name of the person that would be meeting me. Later that evening they phoned with the name of the company that was moving me (a U_Haul location in South Charlotte)- with the name of the person who was performing the move. The next morning two men arrived at the facility to load my truck. Neither one of them had any form of ID, nor proof of insurance, or contract/employment authorization to make this move. They were in a U-Haul truck with no company uniform, jacket, T-Shirt, etc. After I refused to allow them load my truck - they became angry and belligerent. Spent some time on their cell phones making quite a few calls. About 3 hours later a man arrives and says that he is the owner of the U-Haul store in Pineville, NC and has subcontracted this work with Motivational Movers, hiring the two movers. He refuses to find me two new movers that have a valid ID, proof of insurance and employment verification that they work for him/his organization. So, I refused these (3) men access to my household goods. I was in constant communication with Motivational Movers owner and daughter during this ordeal, who did not at any time provide me, either personally or with another moving service - a substitute crew to move my items. It was a scam - do not use this organization. Had I not asked for proof of identification and employment verification - these men could have driven off with all of my household furniture and goods - and disappeared. I must say that the employees of the U_Haul storage facility where my items were stored stayed right with me throughout this situation, making sure that the (3) men did not become hostile. They expressed their concern regarding the behavior of these men and offered to drive my items themselves - calling the Owner of their facility (U-Haul of Safe Harbor in Cornelius) to ask for vacation days to help me out. Motivational Movers did refund my money.

The movers completed the job with four movers in 3 hours and 20 minutes. The price was slightly higher than their normal rate because I had the work done on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. The Big Deal offer for 4 hours covered most of the cost, but they still have a minimum charge that I had to meet.

The movers are very efficient and professiona. The manager is very nice. Great service. Will recommend to all our friends.

The moving team was scheduled to arrive between 9:30 and 10:00 am. Amanda called me around 9:45 on November 15 and explained that they could not take the truck on the route shown by their GPS and that they would be a few minutes late. She promised to call again when they were 5 minutes away. Now, this is a moving company, so this type of personal accountability surprised me. The crew showed up a few minutes after 10 and began working immediately. I showed them everything that needed to moved, and as a team, they communicated very well with each other and came up with a plan about how to carry the bigger pieces of furniture through the back and not through the garage. They were very pleasant and cheerful and worked very well together. I was amazed at how fast they moved everything (carefully). There were a couple of items that had pre-existing damage (I was aware of the damage) but they pointed it out to be professional and make sure I was aware of the pre-existing damage. They had the truck fully load in only 1 hour because they worked so well as a team. When we arrived at the house in Vienna, they began unloading immediately and asked me where I wanted each box and piece of furniture. They read the info on the boxes so they could tell me what was in each box which helped me decide where to ask them to place the boxes. Again, they worked efficiently as a team with each piece of big furniture and communicated well with each other and with me. Makhi, Matthew, David and Chris were excellent. Amanda had originally estimated the job at about 6 hours, but because I had moved quite a few boxes and small items, they finished in only 2 and 1/2 hours. I gave them a nice tip and took the four guys out for lunch at Vienna Inn. They all told me they appreciated the lunch. I have moved a number of times in the last 7 years and this by far was the smoothest experience. I highly recommend Motivational Movers.
