My experience was terrible and need to take the time to write this review so someone else may avoid what I went thru. First let me say I originally made outreach to this business based on the positive reviews on Google. My first service call to this business went smoothly and in the end was charged $250 for freon. It was a bit high of a cost (I think we only needed a pound of freon), but we wanted someone that day to repair and we have an older unit so were glad that was all it needed. Fast forward a few months later, ac is not properly working again and the unit in the basement has a slow leak. Contact E K Rickett & Sons again and the next day the send a technician he informed us the leak was due to the ac coils freezing over and we need to defrost overnight and don’t turn on the ac. Bad news because it is 96 degrees outside, so it feels like 100+ inside. But technician said he would be back the following day at 10:00am to recharge the ac and we should be good to go. Well, next day...No call no show. I called customer service at 11am to inquire on the status and was made aware that did not know the technician recommended we unfreeze the coils overnight and that now that I was calling their office they are aware someone needs to come back. I remain patient as miscommunication between tech and the office may happen. I was also told they can send another technician as soon as he completes a job in DC. Three hours later 2pm, I call back to check the status and was told they were just about to call me back and he has just two more jobs and he is headed my way. Approximately 30 minutes later technician shows up, no mask, and now we are told we need to replace the entire unit for 3K although the previous technician, from the day before noted the ac simply needed to be recharged after the coils were unfrozen. Long review but an honest one; poor customer service, inconsistent recommendations and in the end nothing was done to resolve the issue. Fortunately, a family friend has referred us to their contractor who recently resolved the same issue we had with the frozen coil. God willing I will have a positive review to submit for them in the near future.

I am absolutely impressed with this company. Overall my AC Unit was fixed without a whole list of things that needed to be fixed or a suggestion that my AC Unit was to old and needed a new AC Unit replacement. The Technician Larry was professional, quick, knowledgeable, and the cost was extremely reasonable. I can say this because I had Two other companies come out to perform Diagnostic of my AC Unit who encourage me to purchase a new AC Unit and if not, they had a very long list of stuff that needed to be fixed in order for my AC Unit to run and efficiently. The cost of the suggested repairs was outrageous. So, I again highly recommend E K Rickety & Sons Inc.

I had a new HVAC (2-zones) system installed in a new house in 2009. I have had multiple system failures on both systems. I have a bathroom and kids bedroom (2 year old) that have either gotten no heat or significantly diminished heat. The responsiveness of this company has always been a joke. I have typically had to call multiple times just to schedule an appointment despite the company offices being not far from my house. The lack of communication when service is provided also leaves much to be desired. My two year son's room is still receiving no heat. Of course, no solution has ever been offered. They come to the house, make a few tweaks, express confusion about the problem, and that is the last I hear from them. A few weeks ago, a motor and capacitor in one of the zones again wore itself out. Odd, considering it was replaced only a year or so ago. The part was still under warranty, but I was charged $100 for the paperwork that had to be filled out to fulfill the warranty. I was also charged $90 for the labor to install the part. I have endured this company just because they were the orginial company that installed the equipment. Never again!!!! I will be looking for someone else to fix what appears to be either poor parts, poor installation, poor design or all of the above.

I was impressed with the work that they did, especially the placement of the unit to not take up too much space in the house. The service was good and the professionalism of the staff was good as well.
