Top Notch Floors

Description of Work: Installed groutable vinyl in kitchen and hardwood flooring in family room. The workmanship is "top notch" (no pun intended) and we are very pleased with the finished products. The workers were very careful and thorough from start to finish, and we would recommend them to others.

Description of Work: I got a quote from Top Notch Floors back in September for hardwood flooring.

Description of Work: I visited Top Notch Floors on Saturday, February 16 and spoke with co-owner Joey. I told him that I was looking for someone to replace the carpet and vinyl in my basement with new sheet vinyl. I also asked for a quote on removing the carpet from the stairs and installing stair treads. He was very friendly and gave me several samples to take home and scheduled Monday, February 18 to come out and measure the area. On Monday, February 18 his brother, Shane, came out on time and measured the area. First he told my husband that the company's employees did all of the installation work, then later he "remembered" that they subcontract all vinyl floor installation. He provided a quote of $5138.90. I called back and told Shane that I thought the cost was too high. He indicated that I had picked out the top of the line product, Mannington Sobella. When I went back to the store on Wednesday to return the original samples, Shane told me that if they put the new vinyl over the existing vinyl he would reduce the cost of installation by $400 and also reduce the amount he was charging for labor to get the price down to $4200. I picked out some less expensive product samples and took them home. On Tuesday, February 19 my husband called Shane and asked for a quote on one of the new (less expensive) samples, Congoleum Airstep Pus. Sane said he would call back later with a quote, but he did not. On Wednesday, February 20 I returned the samples to the store and let Joey know that Shane did not get back to us. On the afternoon of Thursday, February 21 Shane sent a price quote for the less expensive product - - - It was for $4562.90. I emailed back and asked why we would pay this price for the lesser quality material when he had quoted a lower price for the top of the line product........His response was that it was $650 less than the original quote..............forgetting that he had told me he could do it for $4200 when I was in the store. So in summary, we did not contract with this company. The price quotes were too high, we were given conflicting information on who did the installation, and the charges for labor were outrageous.

Description of Work: NEW CARPETING FOR MY DAUGHTER'S BEDROOM. THEY REMOVED ALL OLD CARPET, PADDING AND TACK STRIP. THEN THEY LAID DOWN NEW TACK STRIP, PADDING AND CARPETING.
