Initially, the project started well. Kelly was responsive and provided the estimate in a timely manner. The demolition and excavation went well. But the foundation work was not what we expected. The height was not quite right even though we went over it with Kelly - our carpenter had to compensate for their mistake but it was still off by too much to get the new floors to match up with the old house as it was planned. Kelly used others for the foundation work and I believe there was a lack of communication with them and they did not have it at the correct height. Also, the foundation did not meet code since there was no waterproofing or drainage on the outside. Kelly claimed they never had to do this in the county they were from. However, we expected that since they advertised that they worked in this county that it was their responsibility to build to code. At the end, they just seemed to be in a hurry to finish - knicked our tree on the way out and other plantings were crushed unnecessarily because the person didn't just get out to use a shovel to get to tight places and tried to use the machine. In the end we had to refine some of the work - graded the stone in the crawl space and graded the dirt ourselves. We were going to have them do additional work at the end- regrade and stabilize the slope which was torn up from machinery (this was expected). But we never got a response back and decided that we'd rather try someone else.
