I made an appointment for an annual service on 5/27/16. The appointment was set for 6/4/16 and I was to wait between 1-5PM on a Saturday. No one showed up and I could have been doing lots of other things. My time is precious, apparently they don't think so. I called back and was told a Supervisor would call me. No one ever called. As another complainant said in a review below " I am a repeat customer, so to be treated this way is really puzzling. If a company can't keep an appointment, it should let the customer know. If the company's representatives say that a supervisor will return calls,he or she should do so. Incredibly frustrating and terrible, non-existent service." I could not say it any better. These guys are a sloppy outfit. They need to get their act together. I won't use them again. AVOID AVOID AVOID

I have used Blue Dot for my heating and air conditioning for many years, having purchased systems from them and entered into maintenance agreements with them. They are competitively priced, easy to contact, and deal in a straightforward and informative way when it comes to evaluating purchase and repair options. However, I am in the midst of my second bad service experience with them in several months. Their telephone operators are trained to ask how they can give you excellent service, today. The answer is keep your appointments and notify the customer if you can't. For the second time in a row, I've been given a window of time for service, only to wait all day without notification that the technician can't make the appointment within the window. Today, the window was between 10 AM and 2 PM. I called at 2:20 PM to find out what was going on. I was told the dispatcher could not be reached, but someone would call shortly. Having not heard anything, I called back an hour later. I received a rote apology undercut by the excuse that everyone was very busy today – then don't tie up my time with a commitment you can't keep. Then, I was told I'm next, but the technician is on a repair and might be further delayed. It is now about another hour and a half later and still no tech and no follow-up contact. If you are marketing excellent service you need to give excellent service. I understand you can't control what a tech runs into during the day. But it's incredibly inconsiderate of your customers' time not to proactively give notice of problems and reschedule if needed.

My furnace stopped working on April 9 and I called Blue Dot for service. I have a service contract with them. I was given a same-day appointment between 3 PM and 7 PM. No one ever showed and no one called to let me know. I called Blue Dot at 6:15 PM to confirm and only the answering service was available at the time. The rep said all that could be done was to leave a message for the on-call supervisor, who would contact me. Another hour passed and the promised service time window ended and I did not get a return call. I called a second time and was again told my message would be forwarded to the on-call supervisor, but no one ever called back. It's now Sunday morning and I called a third time an d was told the only recourse today is to again call the supervisor and have him/her message me. I do have a service contract with Blue Dot and I am a repeat customer, so to be treated this way is really puzzling. If a company can't keep an appointment, it should let the customer know. If the company's representatives say that a supervisor will return calls,he or she should do so. Incredibly frustrating and terrible, non-existent service.

Unacceptable emergency service for a location with a service contract.
Description of Work: TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE. Called Blue Dot early on a Friday morning when my pump quit this winter. The temperature was in the teens. Blue Dot did not send a technician until the following day at noon. The problem was that the disconnect pull out for 60 Ampere service had overheated warping the plastic mounting for the contacts. The technician only had a 30 Ampere disconnect for replacement and told me not to operate the system until he could get a 60 Ampere replacement part. Blue Dot did not call to say they had a replacement fully six days after the original problem was reported! In fact the required part was available, on the shelf, at the local Lowes for $7.09, including sales tax. I had the part replaced myself rather than be without heat while Blue Dot fiddled!

Costs about $17 month which is reasonable, but the markup on filters is outrageous - $80 = for what I can get for under $40 on Amazon - same brand and filter. I understand this is how they make up money for the otherwise inexpensive 2 x year maintenance.

One person came to check the problem. He then told me what the problem was and called Dan to come to the house to talk to us about the best solution to our problem. Dan provided us with financial options and told us of various systems available. Jeff and Ryan then came to the house, told us exactly what they would be doing and installed our new system. They showed us how the new system and thermostat work, provided warranty and emergency information. They were great!

The problem with this company is there is a disconnect between the schedulers and the dispatcher. While they answer the phone with the obnoxious "how may I provide you with excellent service today?" they proceed to make false commitments. Consider today. We were scheduled for a return service call to install a part. The appointment was for between 8A and 9A. I called at 8:10 to confirm the time. They had not called to confirm.I was assured we were on the schedule for between 8A and 9A. When I called back at 9:30 is was told "oh Wednesday is meeting day and besides the technician was out late last night and will not be there until perhaps noon. Definitely not excellent customer service - just lies. Had they call to say there was a problem and could they reschedule I would have thanked them. Instead I had to pull the information from the obsequious employee in the call center. She apologized every other sentence, but that is not service recovery. Oh, and I am still waiting for the repair to be completed.

We made the mistake of buying the yearly maintenance plan from this company. First, they did not respond to our requests for a maintenance check. I finally was able to schedule a visit - a MONTH out - my husband waited for them that day and they called and cancelled. They will only come to you if they know they will make money off of the visit.

Late-night call. The repairman drove directly to my home, even though it was late, and figured out why my furnace had stopped - something was trapped inside. He got the bird out (which I had to dispose of myself), and cleaned and fixed the furnace.
Description of Work: I had a bird trapped in the intake vent in my furnace - he had to extract the poor thing and then get the furnace running again.

It was a lot of money. The price was between $6,000 and $8,000. They showed up when they said they were going to. They completed the job in the time they said they were going to. They were clean, polite and I had no problems with them.

They removed my old heat pump and put in a new hybrid furnace and heat pump so I can use either gas or the electric heat pump depending on the weather conditions. The furnace has been working good. I also got a special filter and UV filter. I really liked the service. The salesman who came out explained all the options. He gave me three options to choose from. One was lower priced, one medium and one was higher priced with more services and more equipment added. Now, I have them come twice a year and do my heating and cooling checkup.

Technician was great at explaining what was going on and very honest -- he could have installed replacement parts and charged us for that, and we would have been none the wiser. He didn't take advantage.

My 2 year old furnace made by Trane (piece of junk) had a board that malfunctioned and was in turn shorting out the thermostat. So when i got home on Friday night the air conditioning was on even though the heat was selected on the thermostat. The tech came on Saturday about an hour after i called. He wasn't able to fix the furnace that day because we needed an electrical board but found the part Monday morning and fixed my heating system before noon on Monday. It was supposed to get real cold on Monday night and he gave me top priority so my pipes wouldn't freeze.

The tech was pushing hard to try and sell system upgrades that we had no need for. (Are you an havac tech or a sales man?) Apparently the later. There was an actual issue with our system that he did not pick up on. The tech began his inspection by immediately jumping our system rather than use the thermostat. This was while the furnace was opened up. Was also clue to why he missed our problem. He did notice that the flames had a bit of yellow flicker to them a possible heat exchanger or system problem blowing. Rather than investigate further he started giving me the new system pitch. Keep in mind this particular model has a lifetime warranty on the exchanger and the entire unit should easily last 25 years or longer with only minor repairs. He then left and I assumed the system was "tuned and checked" Fast forward 2 weeks later and the system won't start and is giving a pressure switch warning. The reason I'm giving a good review is because rather than send a sales guy the second time I got a very knowledgeable and competent tech. When they are good. They are really good. I think the prior guy was just a bit junior and more interested in the commission. Turns out about 2 ft in the intake vent pipe a critter had built a nest and plugged the intake up. The system was struggling to pull air in and was failing to ignite. Since the original tech jumped the system and was running it open there was enough air to run albeit poorly. BlueDot also did not charge for round 2.

We used them for a long time and they are very good. They were very particular and very careful not to damage anything. I can't say anything bad about them. They are responsible and they are right there whenever we have a problem. We've used them as long as we've lived here. We haven't compared their prices. We have the same serviceman every time and he is very responsive. We haven't had any problems with them.
