We awoke to a hotter than normal house on July 25th and, after walking outside, I noticed that the fan on the outside AC until wasn't working. I called Blue Dot at 7:10 AM and was told that someone would be out between 10 AM and 2 PM. All good. Around 1:30 PM, I hadn't heard from any technician so I called back. That's when I as told that nobody had scheduled my appointment. So I'd been sitting in an ever-warming house for 6 hours waiting on an appointment that was never scheduled. They said that they could have someone come out between 2 PM and 6 PM so I had them schedule the appointment. The technician arrived around 4:30 PM, I told him what was happening and that I was pretty sure the capacitor was the issue, and he checked the outside unit. He confirmed the capacitor was bad, replaced it in about 15 minutes, I paid, and he went on his way. My wife and I went to dinner and came home 3 hours later to it being 80 degrees in the house. I called Blue Dot back and they said that nobody was available until between 10 AM and 2 PM the next day. At this point, I'm fuming and decide to look further at the work order. It said that the technician replaced the capacitor, which he did, and checked the thermostat, which he certainly didn't. As a matter of fact, the only time that he spent on the house's main level, where the thermostat is, was to run my credit card for payment. I ran to Lowe's and bought a $20 thermostat to see if that could be the issue. Replaced the old thermostat with the new one and the AC kicked on as expected. Could've easily been figured out if the technician actually did what he said in the work order. To make matters worse, I was charged $322 for the replacement capacitor, labor not included. A quick search online shows that the capacitor costs anywhere from $15 to $35 so I was up-charged 10X - 20X on the replacement capacitor. That is insane. I guess I should consider myself lucky that the technician didn't check the thermostat because I probably would've been charged $200 - $300 for a replacement. I probably shouldn't have given the testing equipment that the technician left hanging on my outside until back to him before he left rather I should've sold it back to him for $400. My suggestion is to avoid Blue Dot at all costs. Poor appointment scheduling, lackluster/fraudulent description of work "performed" on work orders, and out of control pricing.

1. Installation was OK, but cover to access to attic was re-attached sloppily 2. New outside unit is very noisy. I called soon after installation, and they came out to have a look, said it was normal. But its much louder than our old (very old) unit. I'm surprised the neighbors have not complained. 3. This weekend, mid-summer, indoor unit stopped working. We called and made an appointment for Blue Dot to come out the next day between 12 and 4. I found I needed to change the time to the next later window. I called three times Sunday evening, and talked to a receptionist, but the scheduler never called back. My husband called, using a different number, Monday morning and did change the time to 2pm to 6pm. I got a text Monday morning saying Blue Dot would call when technician 30-45 minutes away. It is now 7pm and we have not heard from anyone. Even if they are busy they could send a text to say technician is running behind. I had to leave work early to come home and wait. Photo shows attic entrance. Trim had to be removed to get new A/C unit into attic. They just screwed the trim right back on and left it, screwheads exposed; dirty; no cleaning, caulking, or care.

Our air conditioner's outside component (compressor) failed on the weekend. Blue Dot's website has a chat service that only set up a phone call (no appointment). Then a phone person claimed to set up an appointment for Monday. On Monday, I called the Blue Dot office to verify the appointment and was told the weekend phone people have no access to the appointment system so no appointment existed. That person gave me an appointment; the first two contacts were useless. My warranty covered the $119 "diagnostic" fee, the cost of having someone look at my system and figure out what's wrong. The tech looked at the compressor and said the capacitor looked bad. He replaced it by removing one screw for the strap that held the capacitor in place, then unplugged the four wires that were connected to the capacitor. He plugged the four wires onto the new capacitor and screwed the strap back in place. Actual labor took ten minutes at most. The new capacitor is a JARD Motor Run Capacitor, model 12789. Look it up online. It costs between $10 and $20. Blue Dot charged us $358 for ten minutes' work and a $10 to $20 part. The service call receipt's description of work reads, "minor repair LV2 2 - price $358. We will NEVER use Blue Dot again and will discourage anyone we know from using them.

Service work performed was fine, but problem was with company policy on contract and refunds. Purchased annual HVAC maintenance contract and had first of two allowable service calls conducted under contract. Blue Dot technician advised that HVAC system should be replaced due to age and poor performance (previous home owner did not maintain HVAC very well). Got price quotes from multiple vendors to include Blue Dot, but did not select Blue Dot due to higher quote. Had new HVAC system installed by another HVAC company and then canceled existing maintenance contract with Blue Dot, requesting refund for remainder of unused services that were already paid for. Blue Dot advised that their contract, which they did not provide a copy to me when purchased, does not allow for any refunds. Blue Dot said they will send me a copy of contract, now that it was canceled. Gee, thanks... Blue Dot has provided good service for me in the past but this recent matter will not have me using them in the future.

It went okay on the inspection side, but I felt as though the "service tech" was more a salesman than a tech. All he tried to do was sell me a new system when I just wanted a fair evaluation of my current system. I had a second opinion saying my system was fully functioning and operable and only needed a slight charge.

I originally was given a 4 hour window for the serviceman's arrival. Then Blue Dot called and said they could send someone immediately. So I waited 4 hours but no one arrived. I called back and Blue Dot said they forgot to tell me the serviceman had a personal emergency. They finally sent someone AFTER the promised time frame. I was charged $315 and the "repair" lasted only a few hours. They refused to give even a partial refund.

O NOT get involved with this company. Not worth the hassle!!! I set up for a consultation for a new HVAC system on 11/6/2018. The salesman, Justin, was incredibly pushy and apparently lied about multiple things. I went with them mostly because they could do it on a Saturday whereas the other company I preferred didn't work Saturdays and Justin really pushed for me to agree at that moment. I set it up for 11/10/2018. The installation workers were pleasant enough, but didn't do a very good job - at least they didn't do what I was told they would do. One showed up hours later than the other 2. They didn't seal the system (at all), even from the inside which ultimately took less than 3 minutes and I had to postpone my Thanksgiving travels to have someone come back out and do that. They STILL haven't sealed it on the outside a month later despite repeated calls and emails. The thermostat is also not accurate. When the person came to seal the unit, he just altered the thermostat to read 2 degrees colder - but it is still wrong. I was told when it was installed that the smell of burning rubber/plastic from the heater would stop after 2-3 hours. 4 weeks later, it still smells like that every time the heat kicks on. The air conditioner couldn't be pressurized because of the outside air temperature - which would have been understandable had I not specifically asked about that when I agreed to the installation on 11/6 and been promised that it was not too cold and would be no problem. Now the air conditioner cannot be set correctly until late spring/early summer. They also didn't tell me I would have to take a day off of work after everything is finished to have the city come inspect their work - that would have been good to know, especially since the city/county won't give a specific time so you have to be home all day to avoid the city/county charging you $50 for the no show. Blue Dot also threatens to charge you if you don't have the inspection done within 90 days - don't listen. Don't let them charge you, you have 1 year to have it done. FYI Jeff Hagerty is the person I had originally had contact with to try to get these things fixed, but he will not respond anymore.

We used Blue Dot when we did a oil to heater conversion and paid around $8,500.00 for the work and we were very happy with the service. We had been referred from my mother who had a AC replacement done by them and was also happy and we referred others to them as well. When my water heater broke, they were the first company I called and I had intended for them to do the work but I was told that we would have to pay a $189.00 service call fee for them to just come out and take a look. I reminded them that we are current service contract customers with them and that they did a huge job for us in the past and they would not waive the fee. They did tell me that if we used them, the fee would come off of our bill, but my issue is that although I planned on them doing the work, if they could not meet my same day or next day replacement of the water heater, I would have to find another contractor and be out $189.00, but they did not care about my concerns. I cancelled my service call with them and hired another contractor and they replaced my water heater within 4 hours of my call, and there was no service charge when they came to give me the estimate. I am under the impression that all companies come out to give you an estimate for service on home repairs????? Why would you charge for this and a better question is why would you not give consideration to your repeat customer and current service contract holder. I will never use Blue Dot again and I will NOT EVER refer them to another person. We will be for certain, cancelling our service contract for our air conditioner. Very bad customer service. Blue Dot, you need to remember that you need us, we don't need you. There is always someone to do the job and it will never be you again for us.

Our heating and air conditioning system is under a service contract with another company, but had self installed a Nest thermostat last year. Earlier this week, when our spring service check was performed, it was determined that A/C was not switching into stage two cooling. Tech's determination was that the Nest unit was defective. Through Nest's web site, selected three local companies that are certified Nest pros to give us a quote for, at least, evaluating the Nest unit (unit is still under warranty). Blue Dot called the next day and was able to set up an appointment for the day after. Blue Dot has come and gone and the other two have yet to contact me. Their tech arrived well within the time slot that they promised (despite getting a call from the dispatcher that he was running late). The tech (I believe his name is Cory) was exemplary - spent quite a bit of time trying out everything he could think of in order to isolate the problem, including swapping out the Nest with a unit known to be in good working condition. Turned out that the problem is a wire that has gone bad (having worked in the tech industry, this is certainly not the first time I've seen a wire or cable go bad - happens more often than people might think). Cory spent over two hours working on this problem, keeping me up to date every step of the way. He was very professional, obviously knew the Trane units we have, and was able to understand the wiring without having to reference an installation manual (yes, this what you should expect, but is all too often not the case). This was our first experience with Blue Dot and we certainly won't hesitate to call them again should the need arise.

I call BlueDot Saturday morning at 9 am and was told that someone could come out that day or Sunday and that a technician would call me to set it up. I didn't hear anything all day and called them at 7:00 that night. It was just someone answering the phones so she couldn't give me any information but took a message. Sunday I had still not heard from them so I called them and was told maybe someone could come out that day but she'd give me an appointment for Wednesday from 10-12. This was during a major cold spell so waiting 3 more days with no heat was not an option. I started calling around to other places. Most people were closed or too busy to come out (this was a sunday and new years eve!) I was finally able to find someone to come out (Ivan at Its Phenomenal Air Heating and Cooling, highly recommend). So on Tuesday I get two missed calls from them about my appointment and I called them back and left two messages telling them I didn't need it anymore. A couple of hours later the technician called to say he was at my house and gave me an attitude when I told him I didn't need his services anymore. Anyways, I understand that this is a very busy time of year but I didn't appreciate being told they could come out Saturday or Sunday because I waited around for them when I could have started looking for other companies sooner.

As above. Still waiting for the tech as I write this, over an hour past the time he was to arrive. They say he has to go and pick up the part that they knew beforehand was scheduled to be installed. This was scheduled a week in advance - plenty of time to have the part in the truck and ready to be installed. Unacceptable!!!!!! Again, this is not the first time this has happened.
Description of Work: I have a maintenance agreement for my heating and AC. The techs always do a great job, but they are consistently late, almost never arriving withing the prearranged 4-hour window. I can count on wasting an entire day when service is scheduled with them. I will be looking for another provider.

It's a major heating and air conditioning company. I was satisfied. They did what they came out to do. All they did was put the cooling gel into the ac and you know make sure the AC was running okay. However they were very expensive. They did what they were suppose to do. They came relatively quickly after I called. I think that they were very high.

Blue Dot (BD) came to our home six times, before someone was able to resolve this issue. It's been a few days since and my fingers are crossed that our system continues to cool us off during these excruciating warm days. Originally called BD and was informed someone would be to our home between 0800 and 2PM, then the time switched to somewhere between 2PM - 4PM. After being out all day, arriving home just at 2 - I called BD to confirm the time-frame and they extended it till 8PM. House now at 80 and it's 8PM, 9PM and still no show, no phone call no anything. I spoke to their complaint person, Tamika (who assured me someone would show to my home). Next day, still no phone call from BD. Hubby was able to get it turned on, because this scenario had happened recently and BD showed up to turn off, then on our system - which seemed to jumpstart it again. Since then, BD techs have been to our house unable to decipher what's wrong. The last tech showed up with apologetic determination and for now, it seems good. 24 hour service; that's a laugh. And if this wasn't bad enough, my 76 your old mom (with COPD) called BD to come to her home today, for her home is 80 and she can't breath. She was informed that they were booked and couldn't come out to her home till the next day. Also, calling corporate does little good; been there and done that.

The installation techs informed me that to put in the unit they would have to tear up my entire ceiling on the 3rd floor. I was unhappy with this unexpected news and opted to have a tech try to repair the existing units. He arrived that day, saw the units were on the roof, claimed to have a "bad back" and would not even look at the units. I rescheduled, asked for 2 techs and a ladder and waited. On July 8, a single tech called to say he was on his way. I asked about the assistant and ladder for the roof. An hour later he came to my door, pleaded a "family emergency" and fled. All of these visits requre time off, waiting for the tech, and repeated disappointment. I have a service contract and neither unit has been serviced, 6 weeks later. Both aging and in unknown condition. I'm out $2500 and not a single thing to show for it. To say I'm unhappy is an understatement. I called and rescheduled yet again but am not optimistic that I will be "delighted" with the service. I asked for a call from the manager but have heard nothing. Blue Dot used to be a fantastic company---what has happened??
Description of Work: I moved to a 3 floor townhouse; the AC units are on the roof which is common in this area. The units are very noisy. On June 9 a Blue Dot representative came out, "diagnosed" that the unit was on its last legs and prescribed a $6200 "split" unit to be installed through an existing port in the ceiling/roof. I paid $2000 down and bought the annual plan of about $500. June 23 the installation techs arrived to install the new unit.
