I used an Angie's list big deal for a service visit when my heat pump stopped working. The technician came just after the schedule time, opened up the covers, and we saw that the heat pump had froze. He found a low freon level, the defrost cycle didn't work, and communications between the heat pump and air handler was not functioning correctly. He gave me a ballpark cost for reparing the 17 year old heat pump. The technician explained a number of aspects of my system and arraigned for an estimator to come the next day (a Saturday). The estimator came when scheduled, reviewed all aspects of the existing installation, answered all my questions, and provided a formal quote. I ended up not using Blue Dot for the new system installation but was pleased with their service. | |The Big deal I used was an excellent value. Their new system installation was a little higher than other A-rated companies that provided me quotes.

This is what I wrote to Blue Dot this morning, after the technician, Ryan D. had left. We called Blue Dot for an appointment last night (1/22/14) after our furnace began emitting an extremely rank rotten fish smell. We were told to expect a technician between 8 am and 2 pm; I was thrilled when Ryan arrived at 8:12 am. My daughter’s pet hamster, Cocoa, went missing from her cage last Friday and we had not yet found her. I was afraid Cocoa was the source of the dead fish smell. I explained the situation to Ryan, and his thorough search of the furnace proved me correct, unfortunately. Cocoa had gotten stuck between heating coils and the wall of the furnace. My daughter was still home when Ryan arrived and throughout his service call, as schools opened two hours late this morning. Without my asking or indicating anything, Ryan was exceptionally discreet about his find, and about removing Cocoa and disposing of her. The smell was beyond terrible, but he was an absolute professional throughout the process, and never said anything near my daughter or loudly enough so she could hear him. Ryan further explained the (very few) options for removing the smell from the furnace and, therefore, from my entire house. On his recommendation, I purchased an air scrubber, which will be of benefit to us beyond this episode as my husband and I both have allergies. Ryan also sprayed something on the coil to try to eliminate the odor as well. I am so grateful for Ryan’s discretion, sensitivity, kindness, and professionalism. We have been happy with Blue Dot in the past, but this clinches our business. Unless something drastically changes, we will be Blue Dot customers forever. And I hope Blue Dot can find some very tangible way to reward Ryan D. for his service today. I highly recommend Blue Dot to anyone for HVAC service!

Scheduling was prompted by a robocall from BlueDot reminding us that we were entitled to a furnace inspection under our service contract. Unfortunately, even after the service was done, they kept calling...at least 4 additional calls until it stopped. Their technicians are always nice, prompt and leave things clean. That said, we've noticed that they always seem to find an issue...igniters, capacitors, etc., which sometimes second opinions contradict. Further, they always recommend installing an outrageously expensive electronic air cleaning system (nearly $1500), every visit, time after time, even though our high-quality filters barely register anything, and we have turned them down repeatedly. Finally, during our air conditioner inspection this summer, they correctly identified a pinhole leak in my condenser which required replacement. But their replacement price was more than 15% higher than the very reputable firm we went with. So I do recommend them, but read everything carefully and always get a second opinion for anything they recommend that costs more than a few dollars.

give you a reminder call as a contract customer ,when you call set up date ,they are efficient and discuss wiht you any issues they find and what needs to be done. Professional all the way. We have had then as our A/c heating supplier since they have installed our unit. Top notch when it comes to service.

The gentleman who came out was extremely professional and knowledgeable and was able to tell me what was wrong within 15 minutes. The only issue I had was the price of the fix. He quoted me $950 to replace a part that I was able to acquire myself (and install in less than an hour) for $118. To his credit, he said that it would be an easy fix which is why I decided to do it myself. The visit was well worth the $39 I paid as I wouldn't have been able to figure it out otherwise.

The list was inclusive of the "normal" items for a tune up / annual maintenance for an oil burner furnace. However, I don't believe the oil filter was changed - thus the quality of work was "B". It may not have needed it but did not ask.

My husband was very pleased with them. They handled themselves very professionally. The gentleman that came gave him more information and he expects some of the issues and concerns that we might be faced in the near future. They were very good. We didn't know that we needed the thermostat to be replaced...when your house is cold you do what is necessary. We got out heat going again...I couldn't do more than evaluation on that I have to trust that...that is what is needed. They were reliable and they came when it is convenient for my husband which is great. They didn't stay any longer and I don't think they explained why the thermostat went out but they did replace it considering that it was a very cold time so it was a relief just to have our heat come backed up.

Countless repair callas, excuses galore. Absolutely the worst service ever once you have a problem. Lastly, they sold me units Carrier knows they have issues with.

The service technician was very prompt, polite, and he went the extra mile when he noticed a slight issue with our air filter, he checked a few areas nowhere near the furnace to make sure everything was working ok. He also helped provide some advice on a popping ventwork issue we were having. He was incredibly helpful and professional. Will use again.

They're very good people to deal with. We live in a condo and they came back out last fall and found a problem with our furnace. We had a new air conditioner and furnace installed with no problems at all. Every spring and fall, they come here to do maintenance on our air conditioner and furnace.

The tech arrived on time, covered his shoes before coming in and was very polite. He did a thorough cleaning of my HVAC system both inside and out, and gave me information about things I should keep an eye on in order to keep the system running well.

He was prompt, courteous and very considerate of keeping dirt out of house. He poked around, tested some things and decided it was the single stage gas control valve. Approximate cost for repair was $1000. The furnace is 22 years old so I asked for a price comparison to new, which of course he couldn't give me. I would need a separate appointment with their sister company for that. The furnace new is about $2300 excluding installation. I was loathe to pay $100 so I went online and bought a new valve for $135 and put it in myself and of course it still didn't work. Called another company, had a gentleman come out and diagnose and repair a high limit switch on the chimney. That repair was $125.00. So I'm a bit disappointed that BlueDot misdiagnosed the issue which cost me a new valve unnecessarily and still didn't fix it. Also am a a little disgusted that they wanted $1000 for a $135 part, I could see paying up to 3-400 for that part, but the markup was ridiculous. I felt as if they were taking advantage of the fact that we had no heat and it was really cold. Also, am disappointed that they didn't actually diagnose the real problem. Will not use again.

Got an inspection of my water heater, furnace, and AC unit. Technical was very knowledgable and honest and took the time to show me the repair costs and future problems I could have. Plan on getting a new furnace from Blue Dot this Spring.

After calling 3 different HVAC companies, who did not want the job, I was referred to Blue Dot. Blue Dot came in 2 days and replaced my 15 year old system. They met every challenge of an old house with professionalism and expertise. The price was competitive with what I paid 15 years ago so am happy with that. Since the other 3 companies didn't even want to give me a quote, I feel good about price. I was so happy with the service, I called them again to service my furnace.

I am very happy with the service they did and their follow up. They were efficient, gave me a fair deal, and were very responsive.

I was very satisfied with all the work that was done. A few small issues that I requested Blue Dot to look at were addressed in a few days and corrected. They have been trying to fix my NUTONE (Nordyne) Heat pump since it failed three months ago. The unit is still under warranty. They are very punctual and send technicians out reasonably quickly. The problem is that nobody has solved the problem after five different visits and four replaced parts. We are running in the Emergency Heat mode now and our electric bills are climbing higher each week. I believe that the root problem is with the manufacturer and not Blue Dot, but that does not change the fact that we have been without the use of our heat pump since Oct.8,2013.We are currently waiting for the delivery of the "latest fix" parts to arrive from the manufacturer.

The work went well. They were willing to work with me. They sent someone, and the work was done in a timely manner.

Their technicians have good skills, pleasant, and do come on time. If something is needed they can do it quickly. I have been with them for about 10 years now. They also installed our original heating and A/C system.

One hour job. Was told it would take 3 - 4 hours according to estimate. When it didn't I thought I should receive a reduced fee but was not given a fee based on actual hours spent on job. Also, I purchased discount through Angies list, $100 of services for $50. They didn't understand that concept and only took off $50 after I had prepaid for the discount. When I questioned that the next day I was told they would have to issue a check and it would take 3 - 4 weeks. Not a satisfied customer, to say the least

Eugene was exceptionally friendly and informative. He answered all my questions and explained what he was doing throughout the inspection. Very impressed with his customer service.

I originally reviewed the offer very carefully, and it did not say that it excluded service on oil furnaces. When I called, they said there would be an additional charge for an oil furnace.
