Chuck's Custom Drywall

My house is 39 years old and in July the ceiling in one room collapsed. There were a combination of reasons for the dilemma: old construction, nails instead of screws and poor workmanship. My insurance company, ERIE, REFUSED COVERAGE AND I WAS FACED WITH COVERING ALL EXPENSES ON MY OWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What really frosted me was when my agent, Passeur and Miller, refused to return my second call concerning the matter. He has now lost my auto insurance, homeowners and business insurance. When I ask to speak to the owner and keep getting put off by his assistant, well then I move on. After getting four estimates Chuck's company was the only one that had two generations of drywall experience and wanted to do the job correctly as opposed to patching up what I had. The entire ceiling had to be dropped and the process of hanging drywall was started over again from scratch. This involved moving out for two months. Two storage units and a roll off dumpster were parked in my front yard The house was stripped of all furniture, floors were covered with adhesive plastic and the work began. The first day all ceilings and insulation were dropped. This filled the dumpster and an additional 50+ garbage bags. The entire house was completed in one day with minimal damage. I had the house reinsulated last year by Carroll Insulation,USI. When the ceilings were gone you could plainly see what a hap hazard job they had done with installing the baffels in the eves of the house. At this point I personally visited USI and their salesman that sold me the job came to the house to inspect. Approximately 30% of the baffels were stalled three feet from the eves, another 30% were installed perpendicular and the last of the baffels were non-existent. It was agreed that as soon as everything was cleaned out, that I should call and they would send someone over to install them correctly. The next day I called when we were ready for USI and my salesman said I would have to correct the situation myself. I wouldn't stand for this and they did send someone that removed all the baffels and installed them correctly. It was then I realized that they were hoping to sell me another insulation job which they had previously estimated at 4300.00, However I had bought batt insulation previously that Chuck's crew installed. With the insulation installed the drywall hanging started. The drywall was 5/8 lightweight , mostly twelve foot sheets and was screwed and glued in place. Of all the estimates, Chuck was they only contractor to use this technique and was the way I wanted it done. It was a lot more work but if the house had been constructed this way originally I wouldn't be writing this letter. The drywall was up and after three days the crew was gone and the finishing started. It was completed in a timely manner with attention to all details. This was a tough job but was carried out professionally. When you have the expertise that these guys had the job gets done right. 4

The contractor did not accept the job even though they were listed on Angie's list with this deal. It makes me wary of committing to another Angie's list "deal".

Everything went well. The houses I have him work on are always vacant renovations, so keeping a clean area isn't important. They work fast and do a basic sweep up when they are finished. I wouldn't know how they are in a property that someone is living in. But for our needs, he was great, and has been for 3 different properties.

Price was extremely competitive and work was top notch. Lots of corners and soffits to finish and Chuck did a fantastic job of making it all perfect for me. The job took three days total to finish and it was quite a large area. I would highly recommend Chuck for any drywall project you have.

I was referred to Chuck from a friend that used him before. He is a very nice person and has over 20 years of experience with drywall work. Everything with the scheduling, installation, and finishing was perfect! Our project was very challenging since he has to butt up new sheet rock to existing plaster in our 1942 year house. These transitions look perfect. I cannot say enough good things about Chuck and the quality of his work. I will certainly refer him to others and use him again for any of my drywall needs.
