It was excellent. The secretary listen to me upfront, to what I wanted and needed. They helped me every step of the way so that the job was done right. The workers most of them were Spanish. They were all professional, very detailed in everything that they did, outstanding people, and answer all the question that I had. Tayman gave me a reasonable estimate in line with the standard.

Tommy and his crew did an outstanding job replacing my 25 YO roof and gutters. I especially like how the crew left my yard cleaner then when they showed up. They also got the work done efficiently and timely which allowed me time in the day. I would definitely call on them to do my garage in the future. Thanks Tayman family!

It was done expertly, on schedule and budget. The materials were top of the line, without asking. Best underpayment, tongue and groove plywood, weather shield, flashing and Velux Skylights. What an upgrade. Care was taken every step of the way to protect the house and leave it in better-than-new condition. Wonderful crew too. Always polite and attended to all of my questions and issues.

If you are looking for a professional, quality contractor, do yourself a favor and keep looking! Tayman installed new siding, gutters/downspouts and built an enclosure around an HVAC system. 95% of the work was done by sub-contractors, not by Tayman employees. • Note- Tayman (I now know a sub-contractor) installed gutters/downspouts on my shed a year prior and did a fantastic job which is why I was a return customer. I fully anticipated the 2nd experience to be the same as the first. If you want a contractor who pays attention to detail – KEEP LOOKING! • Each version of written estimates had errors I had to correct and return prior to signing. • Contractor (salesman) seemed unaware of details such as siding blocks and was schooled by his father(owner) when they visited property multiple times. • Contractor (salesman) continually confused color names did not have basic material knowledge to provide suggestions or insight. Example- I asked if they carried/could get PlyGem siding. Answer “No, but we do carry Mastic.” (Mastic is a PlyGem brand). o I contacted siding manufacturer directly after multiple conversations with salesman about availability of corners in chosen color. Information contractor (salesman) was incorrect. o Contractor (Father/owner) advised salesman to have matching siding blocks delivered via FedEx- except siding blocks do not come in siding color selected. Contractor purchased matching paint and did a HORENDOUS job painting siding blocks AFTER they were installed. I requested they be repainted, I finally redid them myself after the contractor made 2 half-@ss attempts to paint them. o I provided details of materials selected in written format, materials received/installed were incorrect – specifically soffit specified is not the soffit installed. Tayman parked a large dump truck in my yard for the project and it remained in my yard for approximately 10 days. I understand the need for the truck, but about ASKING if you leave a dump truck in my yard for 10 days? Tayman did NOT arrive on the day work was to begin. When I called Tayman (salesman) he said he FORGOT to let me know. After project started, updates/status were random and inconsistent. Conflicting details from Salesman and Project Manager on multiple occasions. Example: PM would tell me something would take 10 days. I would call salesman to advise 10 is not acceptable and would receive a completely different story. o Once siding was complete, Tayman took all remaining material with them and returned 2 weeks later to complete the HVAC enclosure with the same materials. I am confident all materials did not return. And, some of the siding panels were damaged being transported to and from jobsite for no reason. o Contractor stated they would build HVAC enclosure at warehouse and install. However, they built enclosure on-site and did a half-@ss job. Gate is not straight, sticks out from structure Trim Coil has dangerous sharp edges. o Several months after Tayman had “completed” the job and leaves fall, I found a roll of unused trim coil from the project had been tossed into the brush/trees at the end of my property. o Inconsistent- We also built a deck and asked Tayman for an estimate. Before the siding project started, salesman quoted $25K by phone with no details of what the $25K included. Several weeks later, Project Manager bought a CAD program to “design” the deck based on a rendering we provided. The estimate went up to $35K, again with no written detail. • NOTE: Tayman did not build the deck based on siding/gutter job performance and the new deck certainly did NOT cost $35K. The siding sub-contractors were a professional, hard working crew. But, they lacked the details and materials necessary to complete the job properly which was the fault of Tayman (salesman) and not that of the sub-contractor. Ran out of materials and had to order additional siding supplies Details such as what was to be covered with Trim Coil were not provided to sub-contractor. We communicated to sub-contractor which turned out to be a bigger job than they understood they were taking on. Did not have enough matching finishing nails so some of the siding nails match the siding making them invisible. About 70% of them are just plain nails and are visible. There was a soffit repair called out in the estimate. The area of repair was left unfinished for over a week while siding was installed. I reminder contractor (Tayman) of the repair. Repair was not completed prior to be covered with soffit. Gutter/Downspout sub-contractor was a DIASTER. No one on the 3 person crew spoke English, making it impossible to communicate with them to confirm details of what they were doing (Example: back of house had 2 downspouts but with new larger gutters/downspouts we only installed one). This was the first time Tayman used this sub-contractor and did not bother to have someone onsite to oversee them or their work. Subcontractor work was halted for 2+ hours while waiting for Tayman employee to show up to communicate with gutter sub-contractor. Sub-contractor drove small ice cream style truck and refused to drive it down the road to my residence where the work needed to be done. Downspouts were scratched/dented from hurried installation. I took advantage of the interest free financing for the project. The finance company, Greensky, called after the projection completion to ensure I was satisfied with the work. I advised I was NOT and gave details outlined above. Greensky contacted Tayman to advise I was unhappy, however the only option Greensky offered was to have Tayman return to correct the issues- Tayman already proved they are not capable of painting and matching nails - NO THANK YOU.

I would say they did a good job. I would say they were pretty good. At the time it was affordable. Things change overtime but that was fine for what it was at the time. I didn’t get up and looked behind them or anything, I just know that the issue was resolved. I couldn’t see the work they did. They were professional otherwise I wouldn’t have dealt with them. If will ran into that issue again, I would use them again. If you want the professionalism, if you want the courtesy, if you want the issue resolved quickly and at an affordable price, I would go with them again.

When we bought the house there was a clear leak in the roof, near the chimney.
The mortgage company required the money to repair the roof be put in escrow.
We chose Tayman roofing (never again!).
I have to say that calling Tayman Roofing was fine -- easy to get hold of, friendly.
The only problem was the actual work (for which we paid $12,000).
First, one of their workers stepped through the ceiling in a bathroom -- a section which had NOT been damaged by the leak.
Although they at first denied they did it, they accepted responsibility when we pointed out the following.
a) there was no hole prior to them working
b) there was a hole after they left
c) there was no other work going on at this time, so no other workers at the house
We accepted a small refund on what we had paid.
Once we realized how much it took to repair it, I wished I had not accepted the refund and had instead insisted they repair it. (I have changed my mind again since then, vowing to NEVER let them do any more work on a house we own).
Later, after they were gone, we had someone else working on repairing some fascia.
He discovered a few things:
A rodent had eaten the insulation off some romex, leaving bear copper wires exposed.
This was obvious with the fascia removed.
This was directly under where some sheathing had to be replaced, and would have been obvious to whoever removed the old sheathing.
They never mentioned this to us, so that when it was later discovered, it was much more costly to repair that it would have been if we had had a chance to repair it during the roof work.
Some ends of trusses were rotten. A few of them had been repaired with "sister" 2x4s nailed to the trusses. This is normal.
Others had been simply covered over. This is not normal -- this is shoddy.
Once the fascia was removed, one could clearly see some of the nails used to secure the new sheathing, which DID NOT GO INTO ANY WOOD BELOW since the rotten end of the truss had not been repaired.
The "sister" 2x4s used to repair rotten truss ends had to be cut at the same angle as original truss ends, which was clear to determine from the undamaged trusses. Some of these were cut WITH THE WRONG ANGLE so had to be re-done.
On the eave of the breezeway, from underneath, one could see clearly a piece of plywood sheathing which they had installed. This was approximately 20"x24". The trusses are on 24" centers. Plywood sheathing has a primary orientation, which is the direction of the grain on the outside plies. This is always oriented ACROSS THE SPAN, e.g. perpendicular to the trusses. This piece had been installed 90 degrees to what it should have, so was already sagging.
I discovered a roofing nail that had been driven through flashing with NO SUPPORT UNDERNEATH, so the roofing nail had popped up, only weeks after the new $12,000 roof.
There was so much shoddy workmanship that I don't have space here to enumerate.
The worst, however, was a month or two after, in a big storm, we once again had a leak around the chimney! So the ceiling drywall we had repaired was once again wet!
They came out and tried to tell me the problem was the chimney, not their repairs. I made it clear that I know that if they thought there was a problem with the chimney, it was their responsibility to report that prior to putting on the new roof.
I had an independent company come to assess the situation. They determined that flashing had not been done correctly, even though many companies do it the wrong way, just as Tayman had. By this time I was determined that no one from Tayman Roofing would EVER do anything more on any house we own, so I had the independent company install the flashing correctly, and sent the bill to Tayman.
I give compliments easily. When things don't go as well as I think they should I may grumble but rarely take the time to provide written negative feedback. Mistakes happen, and things don't have to be "perfect". Only in very extreme cases such as this one do I feel compelled to follow up as I am doing here.
I had work done on that house by other contractors with no complaints. My experience with Tayman Roofing, however, has made me resolved to tell everyone I know how bad my experience with them was. (I also relate my good experiences with other contractors.)

First of all we really did our research with consumerreport.org and found Certainteed Grandmanor to have the best rating for the style of roof we wanted for our home. Consumer report also recommends getting estimates from contractors accredited by the manufacturer. When you're spending this much money I believe it's best to do it right only once. Along with their certification we were also happy to see they had an A+ rating with the Better Buisness Burreau. The siding most defiantly was not our 1st choice but we quickly liked the cedar shake look and since it was the same company as the shingles my wife and I felt confident it in selecting this siding. Simonton windows were a no brainier when I saw the repeated awards they received from JD Power in quality. I would have to say of these items replaced the Simonton windows are my favorite, the noise canceling ability is outstanding compared to the old windows. I was quite impressed by Tayman's website that allowed us to pick our own time for the estimate, the other companies sites just had generic forms and took a day or two for some to call us back. Once the Salesman came out (on a Sunday, mind you) he was extremely professional in product knowledge and was able to print his estimate from his truck. We decided to go with a enhanced warranty that would allow for a 25 year labor guarantee for the roof. I especially liked that if we ever sell our home that warranty is transferable. The only complaint I can come up with for the salesman is the size of the color samples for the siding. (Other companies left larger samples and we were able to decide from that). The installation took about a week to accomplish. I would have liked to have seen it a little faster but they always managed to clean up well at the end of every day. At completetion I did found several items I was not pleased with, however the next day they sent a few guys back to replace caulking. Once completed I was very satisfied. All and all I'm glad I did my research and feel very confident in all my selections.

They replaced my neighbors roof and I was quite impressed it was done in one day. So when it was time to update my home I made sure to call them for an estimate. I was pleased that to replace all my windows, siding and gutter were completed in 3 days (about 8 days after completing the contract). I was more than happy with the finished work and the spotless cleanup. Later this year I noticed their trucks working in other parts of my neighborhood.

Tayman Roofing & Siding is a company I would highly recommend. My family has used them for roofing and windows within the last 10 years. We were very happy to know they also service Virginia. They have an appointment scheduler on their website which really worked out great since we were able to pick our own time for the estimate and it was even on a Sunday. I was very impressed by that. They replaced our roof with Certainteed Landmark Pro shingles over synthetic roof underlayment and it looks fabulous. We will hopefully be replacing our siding in the fall and I know I will be getting multiple prices but I'm confident they will most likely be the company we go with.

Tayman Painting & Construction painted my circa 1900 2.5 year old wood siding house that had lots of peeling paint. They were extremely professional, worked full days, performed quality work, and completed the job in a reasonable amount of time. They painted the house, small picket fence and cleaned up after each day. No paint drips or spills either! I would recommend this company to anyone.

The job did not go very well. It was a large job. They didn’t have enough men to get it done in an efficient amount of time. It took the entire summer. They started in June and they didn’t finish until the third week of August. I don’t think they were experienced enough. We have a higher end home and I don’t think they were experienced enough for this type of home. The bathroom remodeling job went okay. The plumber they sent out made a few mistakes. They didn’t have the manpower and they didn’t have the experience for a home like this. They didn’t have even the right mannerisms. One of their guys I found using my washing machine as a ladder to scrape wallpaper off the wall and they dented in the top of it. We had a lot of other problems like that. Mr. Tayman is a nice man but I think they are better for smaller jobs and people who just want to get something done and are not particular. The price was fair. We got many other quotes that were higher. We had a lot of other problems in addition to the ones listed. I think I got what I paid for regarding pricing. They gave us a good price but then we also had problems. Their responsiveness was good. Whenever there was a problem, he would come out quickly and have a look but he had no resolution for problems. He would say that he didn’t know what else he could do. I really believed that he had no idea what else to do. They only worked five hours a day which was another problem. They came at 8:00 and took an hour for lunch and left at 2:00. The only reason why I used him was because I go to school with his daughter. She came in a truck that had the name Mr. Tayman Painting and Siding and then came to know that they do painting. We had railings that were painted five times and they used poor grade paint in the beginning. They should have known that in the higher end home, they should have used a better grade of paint. They used the cheapest paint they could get. We had discussed it with them beforehand because we were willing to pay more. It was a mess. One of the guys that came was a pretty good painter and the other one was just sloppy. 99% of their jobs are insurance jobs. They are obviously hooked up with an insurance company that will call them to do insurance repairs. I even asked one of the guys if people like me actually call them to do jobs and he said they don’t. He said that they only do insurance work. They didn’t have the manpower to come in here to do a 4600 square foot house. In the end I felt sorry for him because I think that he realized that it was too much. Even his guys would say that they were the only two people he had and that they were sorry that it was taking them so long. They had given us a good price and seemed eager to do the work. I would not use them again in the future.

The job was completed in three days. The people were extremely professional and they did an excellent job. They were a sub-contractor hired by Tayman to do the job. They worked extremely hard, almost 12 hours each day. The foreman, Jose, was very likeable and professional. We had used Tayman about 10 years ago to replace the roof in our old house and the result was also excellent that time. Even though the job was done by a sub-contractor, Tayman sent an inspector to make sure the job was done right. We are very happy with the results, and highly recommend this company.

Very prompt. Roof was approximately 45 squares. I picked the shingles out on a Wednesday afternoon and the roof was done on Thursday, the next day.
