HMS PAVING INC

We have used HMS paving twice and would use them again if we ever needed to. They are consistently prompt, competitive with pricing, efficient and friendly. The fact that they are a local, family (multi-generation) business is icing on the cake. Not to mention their work is second to none.

They paved my driveway and it was full of cracks less than a year later. They were supposed to come back and fix them but never showed up again. They did not compact the asphalt properly. Anything heavy left on it, like a flower pot or bench, will leave a hole or an impression. Also did a terrible job of sealing the driveway. It was sprayed instead of rolled.

Unprofessional and incredibly rude. Paving neighbors driveway and blocking access to my home. Entire group of workers lied and truck driver was very very rude calling me horrible names.

Don't let Anthony Stanley (owner) fool you. I picked HMS paving as they were in the middle cost range of the three estimates received. I went with Tony as he seemed like a nice guy when I met him. when it came time to do the work, they showed up without gas for their compressor to run the sprayer. I provided them gas to do the work. One of the workers laid down coal tar in front of my garage door and splatter coal tar on the door. the worker denied even thought i was standing right there watching him do it. I had to why the spots on the door to show the worker that it was fresh and he did it. Then they try to remove the overspray which even made it worse as they just smeared over the door. I call Tony (owner) as he wasn't onsite to inform him what happened. he just made up excuses, didn't want to listen to me, he stated "accidents happen, what do you want to do about it." I said "pay of the door to get repainted." Then Tony went into the whole ordeal saying that he is loosing money on the job ohh woes is me, etc. etc. One of the workers walked across the newly just sprayed coal tar to inform me that they ran out of coal tar and have to come back. His footprints are still embedded in the coal tar spray on my driveway. The worker said when they come back to finish, they would fix. They didn't. Tony also wants to get paid in cash. for two hours of work at $2800, that's a very hefty profit. the coal cost $600 and salaries of the six people (yes six - 3 to watch, one to spray, and two to walk around). Would i hire tony again - mostly likely not as he is not a fair business man, doesn't want to listen to his paying customers, and complains that he is loosing money - which he didn't as he made a nice profit not paying taxes on $2800 for two hours of work.

I felt like he was too busy to take my job seriously and that me as a customer was not valued. :(

To start off the stone they laid did not look like stone it looked like dry cement. When they were working on the driveway their truck leaked oil all over my sidewalk and on the road and didn't even try to attempt to clean the oil up. When they were done with the job he asked for cash and I told him I did not have that kind of cash just laying around. I said I can only write him a check and then at that point he asked me to write the check to Deborah Stanley and not to HMS Paving Inc. Then was trying he was trying to add the 6 % sales tax on the entire job not just the material. I asked him to show me the receipts on the material and he would not show that to me. I would not recommend them to anybody.

I called 3 companies for an estimate on repairing my driveway. HMS returned my phone call the next day. The owner came out on Saturday to estimate the cost of fixing and repaving my driveway. They came the following Tuesday to do the work. The crew was polite and professional (listened to my concerns and requests) and completed the work in a timely and satisfactory manner.
