HARFORD TREE EXPERTS & LANDSCAPING

They pruned an established large maple tree and crepe myrtle tree. Since I did not get an estimate from another company and used an Angie's list "Deal", I am not certain about how great the deal was. But all encounters with this company were excellent.

The deal was deceptive. They gave me a quote and were just using the deal as a discount coupon.

Unsatisfactory dealing with the service provider from beginning to the end.

Disappointed. I didn't think provider was that far away from my home, but that is there choice. Obviously will not call them again. Nothing else to say

Mark jolly came to house and we discussed what was to be done. He emailed me a price. His crew did the work as scheduled, cleaned and ground up all cuttings

I was not at home during the service, the property was left very clean and the work was done properly.

They were in and out in less than an hour. I felt I was overcharged for the service. I called afterwards for an estimate for additional work, and I never heard back.

Good. They did everything I asked, and offered to take out 2 small plants also that were near to fruit tree. The trimmer listened to me and cut exactly the branches I wanted.

The estimator arrived on time, but Harford Tree Experts & Landscaping attempted to up its estimate after finding out that I wanted to use its Angie's List Big Deal. I had already informed Harford Tree Experts estimator at the time of his initial written estimate that I wanted to use the Big Deal, but when his boss saw the estimate, he had his secretary call me to advise that because I was using the Big Deal, the estimate would have to be increased by $200. She told me that they did the same thing to another customer too. Only after I complained to Angie's List about this, did Harford Tree Service call back and leave a message that they would honor the Big Deal and their original estimate, but I have no intention of working with a company that tries to cheat a customer and then only agrees to honor a big deal after a customer complains. We choose to deal with another contractor.

No work performed. Contacted by Harford Tree Experts they do not travel to my county.

This was a Big Deal ... $400 of service for $199. Also quoted other trees that needed to be done. They were , pleasant, and hard working. Excellent quality ... knew what they were doing. Excellent clean up.

I purchased this service from one of the big deals. I called and spoke with Jen today. She explained their services. Unfortunately, they do not service my area.

Harford Tree Service came out and mail us an estimate for the service I requested. They were on time and quick. Arbor-X Inc. gave us a estimate for 1/2 the price for the same service.

Getting the appt. for an estimate wasn't hard but when it got down to having the estimate done, the price didn't seem very reasonable. I've had other estimates from different companies and this was definitely the most expensive estimate. Not really sure if the price was jacked up because of the coupon/deal but it wasn't worth getting the job done for that high of a price. And I never received an "itemized" listing of all the things I wanted done--I was just given a full amount price (no individual breakdown). Didn't seem to be willing to negotiate the price.

He just called me and told me he was sorry but they don't come into the city so unfortunatley I was unable to take advantage of the deal. He was, however, professional and polite.

The main reason I signed up for the big deal is I had several large branches which had fallen on the ground which I wanted removed and perhaps sawed up for firewood. There were also several other things I was interested in getting done including cutting down a medium size tree damaged by lightening. I received a written estimate which I felt was too high. I then asked how much it would cost to just take care of the fallen branches. After 2 requests over a 10 day period I received no response regarding a new price so I requested a refund.

I purchased a big deal from them. They were very good in getting back to me and professional but the price for the job was far too high to have the work done.

They came to the house on Sat. My husband was with them. They came back with 2 different estimates. They tried to up sell and we only needed a few branches removed. They wouldn't hear it. They said to just call Angie's List and get your money back.

We read some of the other reviews and chose to use the provider based on price. Their price was excellent, substantially less than their competitors. However since many of the other reviewers had said "you get what you pay for" we did not set our expectations very high. The work was originally quoted for them to cut down two trees and trim 3 others. In between the time we were quoted and the appointment for them to perform the work, we had asked them not to cut down one of the two trees but rather trim it instead. They said that would not be a problem. The appointment for the work came and went without them arriving. However they did call afterward to let us know they were not going to be able to make it. As well we could not make a new appointment with the worker who called but rather we had to call their office back to schedule another appointment. This forced us to wait about another two weeks. They finally arrived and cut down the one tree and trimmed 3 others. While they were on our property, we noticed they did not trim the one tree which we cancelled the removal on. So we asked and the worker said that they were not authorized to touch it and besides there was not enough room on their truck to accomodate the cleanup. It was obvious to us that, had we chosen to have the tree removed instead, they would have been able to find, miraculously, the authorization and ability to accomdate the extra leaves and braches. They told that this was due to some lack of communication between them and their office. After the work was done, we had asked them to come back out and quote us for the untrimmed tree. They did so and to our disappointment, the price for doing so had double compared to the cost they charged for trimming each of the other trees. We did not feel that this was fair at all considering they should have given us the same price for that tree as if it had been done along with the others as we had asked. We had the work done in late April just as winter was ending and before the leaves emerged back on the trees. We chose to wait a few months before writing this review in order to report on just how good their work turned out As of July, the area where the stump was ground turned out not be be ground up completely at all and now we have a bunch of feeder sprouts coming up where the stump was. We are happy with the trees that were trimmed however. Of course we are now stuck trying to figure out what to do with the untrimmed tree along with several others that will need to be done next year.

After a month they finally came back to fix my property but only after I held the entire payment for the entire job.

Mark (the owner) came out promptly when scheduled and gave an estimate. The original estimate included extra pruning not asked for and did not include the yard debris cleanup (that was our fault, forgot to point it out). Second version removed the pruning and said that they were going to cut down several trees in the wetland area, again something not asked for. The third version of the estimate was finally correct and we accepted the estimate. We got no response for a date for a week, so I finally emailed them and they quickly responded with a date. They came out on the date scheduled and did a very nice job with the landscaping, the tree pruning and the cleanup of the wetland area. They also removed the evergreen. This is where I had an issue. Apparently the word "remove" means to cut the tree down to the ground and leave the stump behind. I thought it included the stump. I contacted Mark to ask, and he says that he asks if we "want the stump ground down". This means to remove the stump. He says he asked us that, we don't remember him asking that, so now I have a stump I cannot easily remove. He does good work, but be very careful about the wording of the estimate.

When I contacted the company they quickly sent out a person to give me an estimate. I then called the office to try to set up a time to have them come out and complete the work. I was told that some one would call me with in a couple of days. No one ever called me. When I called the office the next week I left a message and again no one got back to me. Eventually when the company got back to me they were very sorry for the delay. They quickly scheduled the work and it has been completed.

We liked them. They were able to squeeze me in because one of the trees was in danger of falling. They came out when they said they would. They cut it up and left it for firewood for us. They were very good. The owner does all of the estimating. The price did not seem unreasonable, it seemed pretty good. Other neighbors used them and they recommended them to us. Some were tricky to take down and they did a great.
