Lesson, if it doesn't feel right, don't do it. I thought this contractor would be good based on the fact that my insurance company listed them for remodelling. For insurance repairs, they may be fine; for general remodelling, not so good. They were the lower bid from 3 bids, but that wasn't the primary factor for selection. Should have asked more questions before giving them the contract. First major issue, they don't do design and build. The design was solely up to us. We were given our 'budget' and told go fine your materials. No design help; no suggestions (other than 'go to Home Depot'). That started the project later than we anticipated. With guests coming in, we pushed for a functional bathroom within 10 days of starting. They made it; barely. Problem 2 - they ran short on tile causing us to jump and try to find a suitable cap for the shower sill and not go with their solution of using a marble cap (would not have looked good at all). Then the supervisor got involved and solved it but it took us away from our jobs for a couple hours trying to solve a problem that shouldn't have been. Problem 3 - the shower door subcontractor; not what we wanted after waiting 3 weeks for install. Very poor communication between contractor, subcontractor, and us. After the dust settled, (and another 2+ weeks) we did get the shower door we wanted, but a very painful process. Quality of the work was 'adequate' but not super; some tileing was not even; some painting needed redoing. I ended up doing the closet shelving myself to insure I got what I wanted and not their standard 4 wire shelves. Some of the 'little things' - we were going from chrome and brass to brushed nickel (facets, shower head, towel bars, etc); they replaced the light switch and outlet covers with brand new brass covers. Ummm..... reallly? If considering Wise for remodelling, don't expect help in the design side of the project. If you use them, besure you get details and don't expect them to be proactive on things.

They did a very nice job. Though their price is on the high end, but they do an excellent work. We found them when we had the damage and they had done other works for us. They had done an excellent job.

The demolition damaged some cabinets untouched by the fire due to worker carelessness. Work progressed very slowly. Several times we had to have them come back out because the work wasn't done correctly. Many messes not cleaned up. Days would go by without any activity and we had to call constantly to keep them moving. Would not use again.

I was able to observe this company over the 11 months that it took to rebuild the house. The work was very challenging due to the age (1800's) and condition of the house after the fire. They paid complete attention to the period details necessary in the rebuild of the house and asked my opinion about the smallest items. The employees were always prompt and very professional and you would never hear them say 'That's not my job.' Whenever I asked something of or mentioned something to an employee, it was always conveyed to the project manager and addressed. The carpentry and drywalling work was impeccably done and where they brought in subcontractors, they were always right on top of the work being done. In short, I literally entrusted my home to this company and they came through with flying colors.
Description of Work: This company was brought in by the insurance company after a devastating fire at my house. They completely gutted the house, cleaned and sealed it, and then rebuilt it from the ground up.
