They come in and go right to the job. They don't waste time or stand around and chit chat. They're very professional. They're very friendly, professional, and cleaned the furnace very well. The do the cleaning on our furnace every year.

There have been a few times when we've come home and its been very cold and the oil has dissipated. We call and they come right out, they are very responsive.

They do good work and we will continue to use them.

The man was prompt and found the problem fairly quickly. The cost was covered by our service contract.

Was over 10 hours before service tech arrived. His solution was to pour additive in to oil tank. He gave us instructions to call if problem still occurred. Shortly after he left, the problem returned. I called and was told because of weather they would not be able to send a tech for possibly several days.

When we purchased our home, the previous owner had a contract with Eastern/Hoffberger since the house was built in 1974. Because our driveway is fragile and a bit dangerous, we continued, as did the previous owner, to indicate that they could not drive the tanker on our driveway. They would need to have 150 feet of hose and drag it to the drop. From 2002 to about 2010, things were mostly fine. We had no issue, then things went from satisfactory to horrible. For a while, they would deliver at odd times (consequently when oil prices were sky high and I assume to maximize profit). One time they delivered on Christmas morning! The deliveries have gotten further and further apart where they are only delivering about one time a year. Following are all the instances over the last couple years, including the most recent issue this month: 1. On a bitter cold day, the furnace wasn't working so I had to call a repairman, take the day off and pay a service call. The tech told me the tank was out of oil. Called Eastern and asked if I had a credit on my account. I did....over $1000. I asked when the last time they delivered oil and they responded that it had been more than a year. They couldn't deliver for a couple days. (Seriously? They had $1K of my money and hadn't come in a year, it was cold and we had an account with them for years!) When they showed up they were supposed to prime the furnace, but the driver didn't know how to do it. This was the second day I had to take off work. Finally later that day, someone came who could do it. Zero reimbursement or even an "I'm sorry". 2. Another time, the driver tried to drive on the driveway and I told him he couldn't. He said he didn't bring enough hose so he couldn't make the delivery. Asked to drive on my driveway despite the fact the delivery ticket said he could not. 3. Another time, a different driver came. He also tried to drive on the driveway and we refused. He finally got the hose up our driveway but it was difficult because he was very overweight and it was clearly a physical struggle for him. Then he could not remove the cap from the oil tank. He had no tools and had to borrow mine. 4. Their billing is horrible. The bills look like you owe them money but there is actually a credit. Additionally, they bill for way more in advance than we ever use. They had been billing me at $255 a month - that is over $3000 a year and they are only delivering oil once a year ...if that. I got to where I wouldn't pay as much because I knew we were not using that much oil and I had no contract. As of today, I have a credit balance of over $1000. Good thing I didn't pay what they asked or I'd be out even more. When I got my oil delivered by a different company this week it was only $520. 5. Most recently I called because I worried we would run out of oil. Again, I checked and they had over $1000 of my money to credit on my account. They had not made a delivery for almost a year (February 2015). I reminded them to tell the driver to bring a long hose and not to drive on the driveway. The next day I hear their truck pulling up my driveway. I made them pull down and get off the driveway. He parked there momentarily and I had to tell him again to move. He got out the hose and brought it to the house, but not in the most direct way/i.e. not the shortest point so it wouldn't reach. I told him about the driveway and the call the previous day. Called the office and they were less than sympathetic or helpful. Driver left, but not after giving me a piece of his mind. I was told they would come out in a couple of days to deliver oil. They never came back. A couple days later they left me a voice mail that they wouldn't be able to deliver unless they come up my driveway (despite 40 years of being able to do this). I called back, but the person who called me, Michelle, will not take or return my call (they aren't there, the check's in the mail, etc from the customer service line). I called today about getting my money back plus interest. After all they have almost 2 years worth of money and have it in the bank accruing interest. The manager wouldn't speak to me but customer service person ansewering the phone said the check will only be what I paid....Guess they are keeping the interest. The customer service people who answer the phone were pleasant but every manager and driver I dealt with was less than helpful and treated me like it was my fault the drivers couldn't do their jobs not keep their commitments to the customer.

We were very happy with them. We moved to another home and it does not have oil heat so we have no need for the service ongoing.

They did well. I've had them for a couple of years. I haven't had them do any work on my furnace and I have a list. They have the market cornered and they do OK. They get it here when it's needed and they charge me the going rate.

We've been happy with them. They are fine. We have used them for a number of years. We've really had no problems. They are fine to deal with. We've switched to other company because we've consolidated and we've had propane needs as well as oil needs. I have nothing bad to say about them. They've been very good. If I didn't need the propane and oil, I would probably use them.

I've been with the company ever since I've been in this house and it's over 50 years.

It's excellent. I've been with the company for 48 years. Even when it moved and changed its name, we stayed with the same company.

I think they could do better on pricing. I'm dealing with two sides. I'm thinking of the actual workmen when it comes to responsiveness and punctuality. You also have to look at the office staff so I'd give professionalism a B.

My husband says he loves them; they were outstanding. They don't give us the best price there is, but they are okay, as far as price-wise. Their price depends on the price of oil. Last year I think it was $3.99 a gallon they charged us. I don't know what it is this year. I am hoping it is cheaper. What they could do better is lower their prices. They come out when you call them and everything. They clean the furnace and do a good job on that. My husband usually talks with them.

They're fine. I have no complaints. They do deliver the oil on time. I've never have to run out of oil. I haven't had any problems with my furnace lately. Years ago when I did, they were prompt. It was attended to very quickly. I'm not so fond of their prices. They're good. I wish they would reduce their prices consistently with savings on oil.

They've been very good. I've had no problem with them. We negotiated the price and they were very accommodating. The services are competitive. Pricing is competitive. Their responsiveness is good. They return calls if I have a question. They come here when they are supposed to.

They overcharged me. They are a large company, I don't know which branch services me. They deliver here, I never went there. It was the heating fees in 2014- 2015, so it included this year. Per gallon, they overcharged me. They suggested very strongly that I purchase a fixed price contract, and then of course the oil prices went down but if they hadn't encouraged me so much to get a fixed price contract, I wouldn't have gotten a fixed price contract. I could have benefited from the oil prices going down. One of the things they did, their price per gallon, is higher than other companies so I should have gone with a different company. I am this year. I wouldn't use them again. I didn't run out of oil all of last season so that is good. They've been buying up companies locally so they've wrapped up most of the oil companies one way or the other.

I use Petro Heating & A/C for servicing my oil every year. I have had no problems with them.

It did not go well. (For a longer review from me, check out Yelp.com) Around 10:00 am Monday morning, I contacted Petro for an oil delivery. Monday 2/17/15 @ 10:55 am I contacted Petro because my furnace was blowing cold air. (It was 10 degrees outside and the temperature inside was dropping quickly.) I was told the earliest they could arrive was between 1:00 - 7:00 pm. I'll skip a lot of details (posted on Yelp) but... I called back at 6:00pm for an update [from an unpleasant rep] I called back at 10:00pm for an update [from another unpleasant rep] The technician arrive at 11:15pm (that's 12-hours after I called) Tuesday 2/18/15, Called in the morning to let them know what the Technician said and to let them know I was out of oil and needed an EMERGENCY/EXPEDITED oil delivery. Rep Checked. Assured a Wednesday delivery. Wednesday 2/19/15 @ 3:00 pm called for an update. "Yes. Your order is still out for delivery but may be late." Called back around 9:00pm (because they boast of their 24/7 support) and was informed that oil was only delivered between 7:00 am and 5:00pm. Called back again and scheduled an EMERGENCY technician because I knew I would run out of oil over night. The next available EMERGENCY appointment was Thursday between 7:00am - noon. Thursday 2/20/15 @ 8:00 am called and tried to contact Jen M. since she was not available, asked for a Supervisor. Spoke to Mr. Walls who was very nice and confirmed I would have a delivery within the hour. Oil was delivered under 2 hours but... it was delivered! :-) Called around 2:30 for an update on the technician that was supposed to arrive before noon. Technician arrived @ 4:15. Although I had oil, I STILL didn't have heat because the furnace needed to be primed since I ran out of oil again. To sum up my experience, it took 3 3/4 days to receive EMERGENCY "normal" service to restore heat. ("Normal" meaning, I didn't need any "special" tools/components to address my EMERGENCY needs. I just needed regular service... now.)

With rapidly declining home heating oil prices (both retail and wholesale) Petro jacked up price over 54 cents higher than average home hating oil prices for state of Virginia according to U.S. Energy Information Administration. Contract was arranged on December 3, 2014 with celling protection max at $$3.559 and cost at that time said to be $3.20 something (the lure bait and switch). Retail heating oil prices declined $.44 since that time until delivery on Feb 11 but charged only $.13 less than celling and far more that low end offer back in December. Even more bizarre, Petro seller reminded me I had an additional delivery due under the old contract and when asking for what that price was going to be under that contract flexible price plan, it was even higher than the new celling price!!! This older contract also had a celling price, but was supposed to move lower with market prices, yet they were going to charge me the celling price for the older much more expensive contract ignoring market costs at the time. Thinking I was going to back out of the new contract, he made the offer of using the new celling price, ignoring (and even denying it was said) the much lower bait-and-switch low cost for the new contract. These people are dishonest. They price deliveries to nearly the celling quote regardless of market costs. The contract negotiations are carefully recorded so they can stick you with a $399 penalty if you back out of the dishonest deal you thought was going to stay low as quoted due to plummeting market prices. Calling another recommended heating oil company from Angie's List recently, their immediate order cost is only $2.79. Would have saved me $97 for this delivery alone. I recognize the cost celling has to have some padding added for protection of the seller, but with prices crashing, adding $.63 a gallon to the competitors is absurd.

It was fine. They were on time and they were efficient and providing good feedback. I would recommend them to others

Made an appoitment on 10-21 or 10-22 with Ashley for my furnace to be serviced on a Saturday because my husband and I work 6 days a week and one of us would have to take off for the appoitment. So Ashley puts me on hold and comes back and says can you do this Saturday 10-25-14 between 8 and 12 so I said sure I'll get my husband to take off. Saturday comes and around 11:45 a.m. my husband calls me and says do you want to call Petro b/c no one is here. So I call and get Ashley who first tries to tell me my appointment is in November and I said no its not who did I speak w the other day and Ashley says that would be me and then she tries to explain that the tech is busy w emergency calls and they wont be making it today. So my husband took off of work for nothing. For the next 2 weeks I called and left messages about every other day w Michelle, Bonnie, Stephanie and left Dustin actual voice mails for a manager to get back w me from the service department and here it is November 20, 2014 and still not one word from a company that has me locked in for a year. I have until Nov of 2015 and I will not be renewing my contract w/ a company that doesn't deserve my business. If I'm locked in to pay on time why aren't they responsible to show up or give me a refund for services not rendered.

It went fabulously. My older brother was on site, since it is my family home that I grew up in. My brother said he was delighted. They were wearing booties on their shoes, and they put a drop cloth down immediately. They were very careful and very professional. They were there for 11 hours but got it done all in one day. The gentleman who came out to do the initial quote, Mark Piere, arrived 20 minutes early and was extremely knowledgeable and made us feel very comfortable because he knew exactly what he was doing. He found the exact furnace to fit into a very small space, which the other companies would not do. We ended up going with their fuel delivery system as well which ended up beating out any other company by 20 cents per gallon.
