Everything was completed as contracted and priced extremely well! Siding repair - Unfortunately the siding did not stay secured the first time (Windy days!) but with one call Scott had his guys out there almost immediately to tack it back in and haven't had an issue since! Electrical - The tech was prompt to his appt with my better half and from what I heard they were very nice and professional. Completed all items in a timely fashion. Plumbing - The tech justin that Scott sent out was very professional and completed the repairs in a timely fashion. Masonry - I am beyond pleased with how the repoint of mortar on my front steps turned out! The crew was very prompt showing up 15 minutes early to set up so they could start at 8am! I was very shocked to hear from my better half that 6 hours later they were just wrapping up but when I came home and saw the steps I understood why it took so long, they were extremely detailed and didn't leave any mess! Office - Michelle (I apologize if I misheard your name!) was amazing, she answered all questions I had and made sure to call me with plenty of time to give me a heads up on who was coming and what day. I was very impressed with their response time. Overall: I am very impressed with Hapsburg Construction and hope to use them in the future for remodeling.

Sub Par Service from Owner himself. Came out for consult mid May and said I'd hear from him by 2nd. week in June. I had to contact him 8 weeks later - owner said, "Oh yeah, I never did get back with you on those numbers, did I? I'll have them over to you in 2 days". ANOTHER FOUR WEEKS WENT BY AND HIS RESPONSE, "Sorry, I know I promised you those numbers but I'm really busy and don't know when I'm going to have the chance". I'll take my business elsewhere Mr. Hapsburg - and the professionals who referred you are aware of the incident.
Description of Work: DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME - Wish I had read the reviews before spending close to 3 months hounding this guy for numbers he promised me 2 weeks after consult. Like all the other reviews - VERY enthusiastic when he comes out - but falls to the wayside after - does not follow-thru at all. Scott, the owner of Hapsburg, came to the house to give an estimate, and we were impressed with his straightforward style, and were looking forward to his estimate. However, from the beginning, it took a long time to get the estimate - we waited 5 weeks, then emailed asking if he was going to send it, then it took another week to get the estimate. We still hired Hapsburg, and put down a deposit which included a new patio door. We explained to Scott, and he seemed to understood, that it was important for us to get the work done in a specific time frame, and he said that wouldn't be a problem. However, the new patio door wasn't in when we had agreed that the work would start. Communication was very poor from Hapsburg, and they really didn't seem to know when it was going to come in. When the door finally did arrive, many weeks late, instead of Scott talking with us about a date that would work, we just got a brief email from Hapsburg telling us when they were going to start, not asking us if that date would work for us. We had a problem with the date, but communication with Hapsburg was very difficult about when they would start - it just seemed like it wasn't that important to them. Mike, who has worked with Scott for many years, did most of the construction. He had a lot of good ideas about how to get the details right, and a lot of the work was high-quality, but some really important parts weren't done right, and when we talked with Mike about it, he would say things like "it's supposed to be that way" or "it doesn't matter" when it did matter, and when it wasn't right. For example, we had a range hood installed and the first thing that went wrong was that enough room wasn't left for both the hood and the cover panels for the wall cabinets on either side of the stove. The sides of the cabinets were white, but the side panels and doors are wood, and other trim for under the cabinets is wood, so it's really important for it to look right that the cover panels be installed. We brought this to Mike's attention, and he said "it's supposed to be that way". We finally insisted that he move over the cabinets to make enough room for the cover panels, and then at the end of the job Scott told us that that was an extra charge! The hood was also installed with a 6 inch duct when the hood was made for a 7 inch duct. Using a duct that is smaller than the hood is designed for decreases how well it works and makes it noisier, but when I complained, I was just told "we always use a 6 inch duct". The worst part is that after the work on the kitchen was almost all done I removed a panel that was covering the duct and found that the 6 inch duct was just sitting inside the hood's 7 inch outlet, with an inch gap. Mike also replaced the window over the sink and didn't seem to know how to do the aluminum trim right. There were nails through the face of the trim, and drip flashing was in some places too short and in other places not put on at all. We had to hire a company that does window replacements to redo the job. There were many other problems and delays - drawer fronts that were put on upside down and needed to be replaced with new parts because the holes for the handles had already been drilled, reinforcing pieces for the cabinets that weren't installed and needed to be ordered again and installed later, electrical parts that took weeks of delay to order and install, appliance accessories that were accidentally thrown away with the packaging. Scott didn't seem to oversee the progress of the work very closely, and didn't seem concerned about the problems or the delays even when we brought it to his attention. At the end, we got an extra bill including things we thought shouldn't have been extra, like installing the cover panels next to the range hood, and work on a desk drawer that had been in the original plan and that we had talked with Scott about before they even started.

Description of Work: Remediation for potential termite inspection and building certification for sale. They were fast, polite and punctual which allowed us to close the sale of the property in a timely fashion. The price was high for the actual work. The difference being the certification.

Description of Work: This Contractor was hired by a Purchaser of one of my Residential listings. The gentleman was paid to certify that the work performed by my Seller's Contractor was done according to Code requirements. He stated he was fully satisfied with the performance of our Contractor. Frankly the certification was not necessary as the Contractor we used has been in business over 25 years, is licensed by the State of MD and insured. He has no complaints against his Company. This evaluation form should not have been sent to me as I did not hire this Contractor. To submit I had to give an "OVERALL" rating which is not fair to the Contractor.

Scott never contacted me with the estimate he came out to give me. Did not respond to my messages at all, not even to say he was delayed or anything.
Description of Work: Scott Thacker was very responsive when I initially called him for a service estimate to remodel kitchen and bathrooms, install new doors and windows, etc. He was very professional with responding to me and showing up to view the work site for an estimate. However, after a week went by and I hadn't heard from him I text him to find out when I could expect to receive my estimate, no response. A few days later I emailed him about it and still no response. It has since been almost a month that I have not heard back. I don't know why he was so responsive in the beginning but not with giving me a bid but it makes me wonder how his service would be if I hired him.

Scott and his team were consummate professionals. Everything looks fantastic. Scott's team was very willing to come to the house with little notice to look at or fix something else that we had added to the never-ending list of things to fix. The IKEA install went very smoothly, and I am extremely happy that we went with Hapsburg instead of the IKEA-contracted installer given to us at the time. Our only complaint would be that the electrician took a long time to put together an estimate for us, and then it wasn't broken down into line-items like we had requested, so we went elsewhere for the majority of the electrical work. Other than that, we would recommend them to anyone and/or use Hapsburg again ourselves.
Description of Work: Entire kitchen remodeled, with installation of new IKEA kitchen. Also had minor electrical, plumbing, and a moderate amount of carpentry work done throughout the house.

We ordered cabinets from Ikea in May and received shipment early June. Hapsburg started work mid July. There were mistakes on the Ikea order and parts had to be returned and others parts ordered causing delays. The subway tile order caused delay. It was hard to coordinate the work of Hapsburg, the floor installation, the tile order, electricians, and plumbers. Habsburg was hard to communicate with and their workers were often not available because they were doing other jobs. The work they did was excellent, high quality, and professional. I couldn't give them an A because communication was so frustrating. The work started in July and was usable by the end of August but was not fully completed until early Oct.
Description of Work: Remodel old kitchen. Remove old cabinets and counter tops. Remove ceiling tiles install wallboard. Patch and paint kitchen. Remove old floor and install under layer. Lowes installed new floor under separate contract. Electrical work new outlets, some rewiring, installed new ceiling fan. Installed Ikea cabinets ordered from Ikea separately. Norwood Marble and Granite installed counter top and sink under separate contract. Installed subway tiles as backsplash. Tiles supplied by us separately. Appliances were moved out and reinstalled. Plumbing for new sink.

Hapsburg Construction has very good customer service. The workers are pleasant and they get the job done in a timely manner.
Description of Work: Hapsburg Construction redid my mom's kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen was an entire kitchen remodel and the bathroom involved fixing tiling that a previous contractor had botched.
