Owner repaired and restored the frame and backing of an oval-shaped curly maple antique mirror that presented multiple challenges. He explained in detail how he would solve each problem, keeping the project cost/efficient where possible, while using the most appropriate materials and techniques to preserve my irreplaceable family heirloom. Paul at White Owl Studio is extremely talented with all aspects of woodworking and staining any type of furniture you need updating or repairing. My outdated dining room table and eight Windsor chairs were re-stained and looked better than ever. I only have wonderful things to say about how professional and knowledgeable he is about his profession. He will keep you updated throughout the entire process. Paul loves what he does and is a total master at his craft. You will not be disappointed...highly recommend!!!

Paul at The White Owl Studio recently refinished our kitchen table, and we could not be happier with the look. He is extremely knowledgeable about his craft. He went above and beyond to get the right color finish including several sample applications for our review which entailed several trips to our home. In addition, he did the work very quickly. Paul took the time to discuss our project and offered education in types, care and options with wood. He analyzed the issues with our dining room table quickly and made suggestions on how to repair the problem. When faced with an unexpected situation, he found a solution that turned out beautifully. Paul solicited our thoughts and agreement and allowed us to be involved in all steps of the process. He communicated regularly and answered questions in a timely manner. Paul did an amazing job refinishing my motherâ s cedar chest that she acquired in the 1950â s and recently gave to me. Not only did he restain it, Paul also disassembled and rebuilt it making sure it was structurally sound, he added safety hinges, and made some other improvements, each time checking with me before moving forward on an improvement that was not originally discussed. He regularly updated me on the status and sent pictures of the progress. Paul made this family heirloom beautiful, safer, and more usable. Prior to hiring Paul to refinish the cedar chest, my daughter gave me a Cheese Cutter - Deluxe that Paul made. It is a beautiful piece that shows Paulâ s craftsmanship. This was is not just a countertop install, what Paul created from a slab of butcher block was a stunning island top with a fold down shelf. His counsel and guidance on the correct wood to use, and how to finish it along with the options he provided made this important choice simple and clear. He arrived on time, did expert work and left us with the most beautiful island top I have ever seen. I use Paul to make all of my closing gifts which include custom engraved cutting boards. I purchased an expensive outdoor furniture set a year and half ago which cost $3,500.00 from a well-known nursey in Davidsonville, MD. After a year I noticed the furniture was splintering and turning an ashen gray. I called the nursery several times about the condition and each time was told to contact the manufacturer (which was useless advice). Frustrated and getting ready to throw out the set, I searched the Internet for a restoration company and luckily, I found â The White Owl Studio, LLCâ . I sent Mr. Hunsicker pictures and he agreed to restore the set. When he delivered the set â it was AMAZING, the set was restored to an even better looking and much studier condition than when I purchased. He replaced all of hardware and even gave me a container of oil to apply in the Fall. I was so impressed with his work I started looking around the house for anything that needed restoring. We had moved in our new home and had a nearly 100 year old Armoire that seemed out of place due to its condition. My wife thought it was worth keeping and suggested we get it refinished. I was skeptical. I thought it would be too costly and still not fit it with what I imagined for the room. Nevertheless, I looked up companies that indicated that they restored old furniture. Paul from White Owl returned my call and offered to come out and look at the piece. The other companies ask me to photograph the Armoire and based on that they estimated the cost. Paul came out and did a thorough examination of the piece. He was very knowledgeable about the different woods that were used in the construction of the piece. He also indicated that he could complete the job within 2 weeks, while the other firms said it would take from 6 weeks to 2 months. Again I was skeptical. Some of other firms I contacted were older and were known to me, but didnâ t seem to show the interest or the knowledge of my piece of furniture. Paulâ s estimate was neither the highest or the lowest we received. Ultimately, it came down to my wife and I trusting Paul. I am pleased to say our trust was not misplaced. Paul delivered our piece yesterday and I canâ t believe it looked better when purchased nearly a century ago. Itâ s a beautiful addition to our new home. All of the scratches and gouges from years of abuse are gone. The original brass hardware has been polished and looks wonderful. We werenâ t concerned so much about the interior, but thatâ s been refinished as well. I was curious about the company that made the piece. Paul researched the more the one hundred year old company and gave us a written history of the company. I wish my late uncle could see how beautifully restored his armoire is, it belonged to his mother. It was the one piece of furniture he kept from her home. I would recommend this company to anyone who has a piece of furniture that looks like itâ s seen itâ s best days. My husband and I commissioned a new coffee table from The White Owl Studios and it is beautiful!! I was shown the raw wood that was going to be used before Paul went through the process of turning it into our new coffee table. He left the wood almost as is. When I say as-is. I am referring to the natural beauty of the wood. There was no stain used so the colors from this gorgeous poplar wood are highlighted. The purple and greens stand out! The edges of the table are not perfectly straight and that is one of the things I love about this table. The wood has natural curves which were left alone, instead of sanding down to be a perfect rectangle. This custom-built table turned out better than I could have imagined and I highly recommend going to Paul for your furniture needs!
