THE COUNTERTOP CO

While satisfied with the final product and installation, the overall time frame from order date to installation was too long (6 weeks). When we called to check on the order, we were given installation dates by the customer service department that they claimed not to know anything about when we called back later to check on progress. Also, the price was increased by $400 when measuring since they felt they needed to install metal rods for stability. Overall, I would prefer to deal with a local fabricator rather than an out of state firm particularly since the communication between the shop and customer service was poor.

The work did not go well for several reasons which I sent in a status report earlier. They canceled twice, once the afternoon before we were to have it installed after we emptied the cabinets which we had to put back as our grand children were visiting. When they showed up and the back splash, counter top and Island did not match. The material had come from 2 different slabs. They replaced the back splash and we accepted that since the island does not abut the countertop. They got a demo faucet from the local countertop store in Ellicott City and we got $50 back. I uploaded 2 jpgs. The one on the left is the island and is lighter (more beige). The one on the right is darker (more browns). The texture also is different. Larger spots on left. This was most noticeable when the counter abutted backsplash. Backsplash was replced. Install excel.

The Countertop Co. came and measured right away, but when it was time to install the countertops, they were 5 hours late. This was inconvenient, but the quality of their work is excellent and they were very careful with my property.

Overall, we are very satisfied with the product, workmanship and installation provided by The Countertop Company. The local sales reps were very helpful and straight-talking. Since the manufacturing facility is located in Chantilly, VA, we did have to make several trips to ensure we got the "correct" slabs for our project. We did have to special order granite to get a better color match than what was available from stock (our choice/problem). The installation took a little over three hours and was done in a very professional manner. The finished job was just about as perfect as one could expect. The corner seam is almost invisible (due inpart to the low-veining of the granite). The measurement process was painless and the finished countertops fit perfectly - largely due to the meticulous measurements taken. The Countertop Company should definitely be on your short list of contractors for new/replacement granite countertops.
