Painters showed up on time, worked throughout the two days and did excellent work. Each lintel was scraped, wirebrushed and painted with oil based paint. Two coats were applied to the siding, both on the front of the house and on the gable. Great care was taken to protect the brickwork of our stoop, sidewalk and porches from paint drips. Both members of the crew were efficient, careful, and did top-notch work. They spent quite some time scrubbing the front paneling by hand with rags and spray bottles of water to remove years of grime before applying the paint. The finished job looks great. The painters advised us after the paint was on the house to request a power washing of the siding when the job will have to be done again in 5-7 years. We did not realize requesting a power wash was our responsibility. Thankfully, the painters, who were much closer to the work than the estimator, corrected the oversight as best they could. We feel that the estimator should have recognized this need to clean the surfaces at the outset and have downgraded the "professionalism" category accordingly. The downgrade applies only to the company and not to the painters themselves. If you are using this company, be sure to explicitly request that siding be power washed and allowed to dry before painting.

It was raining quite a bit around this time, so their schedule was thrown off. I took off work and met them here. We walked around and talked about the project. He assured he could fix everything I was worried about and got this big sales pitch. He quoted me $1000 and wanted a down payment of 1/3. I gave them the down payment. But after that I wasn’t able to get anywhere. I call the office, the lady that answers doesn’t know anything. She said they are two months out. Two months later, I call asking when they can get to me. I get the run around. She called me and said they can get me in tomorrow. I was not able to take off work, so that day didn’t work for me. But, they said they couldn’t do it if it got too cold, so I told them to do it without me there. I checked the work after they did it, and noticed that they didn’t paint the side of the house. They didn’t complete the job. I called the office again, and the lady didn’t know anything. I get a phone call a week later on my work phone by the painter himself. I was home so didn’t get the call. He left a message that he could come out in an hour. I didn’t get it until the next day. If they had called me at home, it would have been fine, because I was home. I will not have them out without me being there again, of course. They won't come out unless they get a verbal response, so they didn't come out that day. Once they get your deposit, their customer service is just horrible. I have no idea what they are doing or when or if they will even finish the job. I never got any apologies or explanations, so it seems they don't care.

I was surprised at the good ratings they had on Angie’s List. They were messy and they did not do good quality work. They weren’t professional and they were dirty. It was not a good experience. We had to have them come back and do repair work and when we had them come back, I walked them through and showed them everything that was wrong. They were very unresponsive and they questioned everything I showed them. It was obvious things. They sent out a different group to do the repair work. It was awful; there wasn’t one good thing about it. They didn’t fix everything because it would have basically been redoing the entire job. We couldn’t deal with the whole mess again. It took two weeks for them to do the work and then it was a week before they could send someone else out. We couldn’t stand that much time with our kitchen and family room being unusable. They did give us a discount when we asked for it. They could have left us high and dry but they did give us that. One of the reasons was that we didn’t pay them everything upfront and we didn’t pay them when we were done. At the end of it they left my job, even though they weren’t done, and they went to my neighbor’s house and did work for him because my neighbor asked them to come over. I would definitely not recommend them.

They were find and did a good, professional job.

Everything went great. I have been using them for many years. They were extremely reasonably priced. They were very conscious, neat, and meticulous. We have always used Sam, who in our opinion is the best painter we have ever come in contact with. The office staff is very accommodating and the estimator has always been timely as well. I would recommend this company to others.

My experience with Sheldon was not good. The estimator totally under estimated the scope of work to perform the job properly. When the painter arrived on the said day he gave me the news that this was a 2 day job not a 1 day job and because of timing would have to start the following week, requiring me to take extra time off of work. The painter and his assistant came on day one to mud and sand. But, on day 2 the painter (who bragged about what great work he does) was sick and the assistant finished the job. The ceiling does look much better because the drywall seams are covered, but it still needs some additional touch up. My problem with Sheldon & Sons is that they underestimated significantly, could not perform the work on time due to scheduling and poor estimating, then never followed up with me to inquire about the quality of the finished work. All I got was an invoice in the mail to pay the bill. There are a lot of painters out there and this is the last time I will go with a "paint shop." Next time I will go with an independent who has references and a long resume. I want the person giving me the estimate the same person who will be performing the work.

This was a good experience. We had bought some paint ahead of time, and the painters bought the rest. Two painters did the job. They were friendly, and did good work. There was virtually no mess on the floor, and one splatter that was pointed out was cleaned up.

They were prompt and professional. The estimator really thought through what should be done and talked over details with me. They even called a few weeks later to see what we'd chosen. We decided to do most of it ourselves to save money, but we have no complaints.

They were perfect and the came in and did the job and there was no mess, and is rare that you find people like that. We had water damage and part of the ceiling fell, so they took down a 4 year ceiling, removed and replaced crown moulding and painted it. They put the insulation up after the ceiling was removed, had to remove a 4 by 8 sheet of drywall by our front door and put insulation and replace the drywall. They also put our light fixture back in the ceiling, put a prime coat on all the drywalls, taped and finished it. They repainted all the new moulding around the ceiling and the one area around the door, replaced the K-rail. I called them and talked to 2 girls over there and told them that they did beautiful work. They cleaned up after themselves and the people that came in to remove the drywall were very good and neat. The 2 painters and plasterers that put up the dry wall were excellent and all the men that came here just did a fantastic job. We recommended them to our neighbors and they are now working there. We got 3 estimates and theirs was the best and it was excellent price.

The professionalism of the painter and his skill were great but the customer service was not acceptable. There were a couple of spots that were not repaired smoothly prior to painting. They were minor details but after I reported them to the company, it took them a couple of months to finally have a painter come back to fix them. The company did not call me back. I had to call them a couple of times. The painter that returned did a good job redoing the areas, but I was not happy with the wait.

They did a very fine job and we just got another estimate from them for another job. They have their own staff and they don't subcontract out, which is nice. We pretty much knew what we wanted and they provided the service very quickly.

I am very glad that I was able to find this company on Angie s List. They were prompt, professional, and courteous, and everything I would come to expect in a contractor. The job that they did was perfect and I wouldn t hesitate in using them again when I have to. I also felt the price was right where it should be for the work they did.

After inspecting property when work was completed, we found about 12 things that were not completed with the work: paint drips, missed spots, unpainted part of trim, overspray of paint on fixtures not cleaned up etc. I informed the company in writing, email, and fax of issues. The property was not occupied and Sheldon Sons had the keys and freedom to fix at any time. I would later get a phone call saying work was completed. Twice I went back and twice found the work incomplete. I even offered to meet job supervisor to show problems. Finally two months after they started the job, the condo was sold without shoddy workmanship addressed. Sheldon and Sons insisted we pay the balance on the bill. I will never use this company and highly suggest no one else does. I paid a lot of money for professional work. The quality of work I received was poor and amateurish. I could have paid high school students to do this for thousands less and maybe got better workmanship.

Communication very good, and work eventually done to my satisfaction. Initially, to my surprise, all shutters and some wood trim were rolled (two coats) instead of brushed. The rolling of paint on wood produced an unacceptable rough finish (when compared to parts of shutters and porch trim pieces that had been brushed and consequently had a very nice smooth semi-gloss finish). The company responded by re-doing all the unacceptable work, that is, they sanded and re-did it with a brush. I was very satisfied with the final result. Yes, I would re-hire them because I think they are capable of very good work, and they now know what I will and will not accept.

The workers showed up when they said they would. They called in advance when they had to reschedule. Everything was done in a neat and timely manor.

Poor. Crews had little experience in performing the work. No attention to detail. Difficult to get company to correct mistakes.
