The wind blew one of our downspouts off. I requested a quote for reattaching the existing, undamaged downspout. A man can out, looked at it, and said he would email a quote. A few days later, a woman emailed me a quote for replacing the downspout with a new one for $250. I explained that I only needed my undamaged downspout re-attached. Several days later, I followed up that I was still awaiting an amended quote. I received a quote of $200 to re-attach the downspout. That is exorbitant for a job that took my neighbor's unskilled teenager and I 9 minutes to do with a borrowed extension ladder, including adding 2 additional straps to secure it. It's outrageous to charge so much for a quick and easy job that could be done in minutes. My dentist charges less per hour.
