Handyman At Your Command

Within two days I heard back from this company with a price quote that had me wondering if they had confused my request for basic handyman repair work with a request for a cardiac surgeon's services or those of an aerospace engineer. They quoted a whopping $150 per hour for labor, with a four hour minimum. With all due respect, this hourly rate is outrageous for basic handyman repairs. My suggestion to fellow Angie's List members: don't waste your time dealing with these folks! I declined their services and let them know I found their rates too high.

Wonderful experience. I had a large list of projects that I was certain would take two days, but I was wrong, they went through my entire list in ONE day. I had two other companies come out the estimated 2 to 3 days. The guys used fast setting drywall compound and set up big fans and heat guns, the drywall work was dry in no time at all and by the time I knew what was going on they had painted and cleaned up the area. They save the power washing for last so that they would not track in any dirt or water. This was a big WIN for me being that not only did I save $2000.00 over what the other companies quoted, I was able to get back to work the very next day.

They were great, they gave me a flat rate for labor and I was to supply or reimburse for any materials used. Tracy was great, she met with me at The Tile Shop and helped me through the entire process. The best thing of all was that I was able to select upgraded tile due to Handyman passing on their contractor pricing to me with NO MARK UP. The project took 5 days and once completed I was amazed with the transformation. As I mentioned, this is my rental and now I wish I lived in it to enjoy the beautiful new bath which out does my own home. I see that I will have them back at my home in DC in the near future to redo my bathroom. As usual, Handyman @ Your Command goes above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks guys!!!

Jose (my handyman for the day) was precisely on time for the appointment to perform handyman services for a period of 4 hours. After about an hour of working, I realized that he would be done with all of my initial tasks way before the 4 hour window was complete. I then asked him if he would do a few more things for me like some drywall repair and install a garbage disposal. He said that wouldn't be a problem and gave my husband a list of things to pick up from the hardware store while he finished the work on the other tasks. Jose was skillful, professional, and polite. I will definitely be using this company again and asking specifically for Jose's services.

I am very frustrated with Handyman at your Command. They came to my home after Hurricane Irene to repair my bay window roof and interior drywall due to multiple leaks. Two very nice gentlemen came out and completed the repair - they "sealed" the bay window externally, and then repaired, dried and painted the interior drywall. The price was very reasonable. It seemed as though they had repaired the damage for a little while, but in the Spring, we noticed the leak again. After many phone calls back and forth with the lady at Handyman, she finally was able to schedule an appointment. I must admit that every time I talked with her she sounded flustered, which is not very reassuring when your ceiling is falling in. At no charge, one gentleman came out and did much the same types of repairs as the first crew, but also left a hole in the drywall ceiling and came out to check it a few days later to make sure the roof wasn't leaking after a rain. He determined that it was not, but my husband said that the drywall even felt cold and damp within a month. Then came Sandy, and guess what? My ceiling has leaks and holes everywhere and it almost ruined my hardwood floor underneath it to boot. I would call them to come and fix it, but obviously they don't know how and I refuse to have this happen a fourth time! I have had roofing companies tell me that they don't do these kinds of repairs, making me forced to result in hiring a handyman company. It would be refreshing if Handyman would admit that they aren't even very sure of what they are doing instead of taking your money and making you have to get the same thing repaired THREE TIMES! Update 12/5. The below provider response is outrageous. I feel sad for anyone who would read this and believe that a grown individual would take the time to rate a company if they had not, in fact, failed to appropriately correct a problem 3 times. I find it interesting that no positive adjectives can used to describe a client who complains. The ceiling was left open for a week to see if rain leaked before anyone returned to even check the ceiling. Roofing companies will not do interior repairs. I would like Handyman to try to find one themselves. That is the only reason I resorted to such an unprofessional company. They should be ashamed their obvious lack of professionalism and insult to previous clients. I trust that they think is fine to insult a previous customer because they obviously won't be using their services again. I have never "insisted" that anyone come "immediately" to my home. Furthermore, who talks to their customers like this? That was just a shameless lie coming from a shameless company that can't fix a simple leak after three tries. The second shameless lie - I NEVER SAW ANY VIDEO EVER! Good luck to those of you that choose this company. If they don't do work properly in your home, they won't feel bad about their reputation and shotty work, they will just choose to try to make you look stupid on Angie's list. Also, would you contact a company that can't fix something three times to just put a temporary fix on it a fourth time? And the "holes all over our ceiling" are ONLY directly underneath the bay window. The ceiling Handyman failed to repair. We have no other damaged areas anywhere in our home. If Handyman chooses to rudely retort a second time, I will be glad to update my response further.

Never received an estimate.

I had a small water leak that caused me to remove some ceiling drywall. I was looking for a contractor to do that work, and possibly look at some other projects within my condo. I found this contractor here on Angie's List. They get mostly very high marks and so I took a chance. As Angie's List members know, A-list companies are busy, since it's extremely difficult to find good people to do work. For that reason I was willing to wait for an appointment. I first spoke with Tracy McCalla by email on August 7, and accepted an appointment scheduled 25 days later on August 31 to discuss my projects. Jose arrived at my condo exactly on time. The 90 minute conversation went very well - Jose is a nice guy - and I was expecting some work estimates. On Tuesday September 4, I heard back from Tracy who offered an apology while stating that they "don't do work in Condos" because they worry about not being able to do work from "underneath". Customers should be be aware that there is nothing on their website - or on Angie's List - that states some concern about condos. It never occurred to me to ask that question. Irritating.

This company is great - from the front office to the handymen. Tracy is very helpful and was responsive in assisting with both scheduling and rescheduling. The handymen were timely, worked hard and fast, and did quality work. The hourly rate seemed a little pricey, but i don't think I could have gotten 2 faucets replaced, a difficult to reach sump pump replaced, drywall cutouts for in-wall tv cable routing, and exterior carpentry done anywhere else for a better price. These guys really worked hard for the entire 4 hours. I would definitely use them again if I had a long to-do list to work off.

It went fine, the 2 guys were prompt and worked hard but the service is too expensive.

They did a good job in good time and at a reasonable cost. They were prompt and courteous.

Work was done professionally and competently; I am very satisfied. The job took four days, but at the end of each day the workers cleaned up completely. There was one small miscommunication and the owner of the company came right away and got it sorted out. I will use them again if the need arises, and already have recommended them to a friend

They are pretty good. They had a very reasonable price.

After a windstorm, a piece of siding from near the roofline had blown off. I really needed it replaced. When I called these people, they told me they had a minimum charge of $250 and asked if there was anything else they could do for me so I had them install 2 toilets I had recently purchased in addition to repairing the siding. They didn't charge more than the minimum. My only minor complaint is that they charged me for a plastic bag. In the future, they should ask the homeowner if they have one first!

Very prompt and attentive, professional. Very please with quality of work, would use again and have already recommended them to my neighbors.

Tracy called me back on a SAT and within an hour had me scheduled for emergency repairs on MONDAY. Two men showed up at 8AM and were wonderful! We had them touch up another area of ceiling. They had special ladders that worked on stairs and completed jobs in timely manner. The only thing I wish I had remembered was to present the 10% off coupon - one of the reasons I contacted them.

He worked efficiently and kept us apprised of problems and how he intended to fix them. He was unobstruive, courteous, and very competent. We could not be more pleased. The job took five hours so while the price was a little higher thna we hoped, we would do it again. The drawers feel solid and we haven't had a problem.

They were so fantastic. I needed help with some minor projects and created a list that ranged from drywall repair to lock changing. I didn't have the correct locks so they went to the hardware store and bought them. They did everything on my list and when I ran out of things to do, and they still had time left, they proceeded to weed by back patio. They were so nice, helpful and worked so hard. I really appeciated all of their work!!!

Awesome. The "handyman and a half" assigned to me were a few minutes early and worked steadily from the time they walked in to the time they left, 6 and a half hours later. They were very polite and professional. One thing they didn't do which I would have liked is haul stuff away. LIke the bathroom sink they replaced. But overall, no complaints. They were great.

I had a long to-do list and Chris showed up a day early (after the receptionist confirmed that was OK) and plowed right in on a very disparate agenda. Polite as you can possibly imagine, he worked for a couple of hours on the roof in the 100° heat. I offered soft drinks, but he wanted only water.

No problem. Very effiicient. Cleaned up well and everything seems to be working just fine.
