Great! Eric is very professional and knows his business. I never got the feeling he was trying to get into my pocket by jacking up the price. He delivered what he promised and then some (installed a new anti-virus program with a free one-year subscription). Don't let the modest storefront at their Columbia office fool you.....they know what they're doing.
Description of Work: Cleaned out all the viruses and malware. Installed a new copy of Microsoft Office 2013. Fixed connection to the internet problem.

Note this location has changed to 6420 Dobbin Rd Short story: Called us in twice to pick up the computer but it wasn't fixed, blamed everything including the owner for the problems they didn't fix, left us with a computer that was still broken, horrific customer service. As far as I can tell the main goal of the owners is to play card games and they only grudgingly fix computers to pay the rent. Our computer wouldn't boot up, so we brought it to them. First they said it was the processor then they said the problem was the motherboard. Then they said it was fixed and I went in to pick it up. It wouldn't boot up. It was also not completely put back together. Then they said it was the video card and I left it with them another 2 weeks. They called me and told me it was fixed and I came in. It wouldn't boot up. This time around, they cycled me through 3 different techies and kept me there for over an hour because they were too busy getting ready for a card tournament (during published business hours) to pay attention to the computer that they asked me to come pick up a second time. During this time I found out that they neither replaced the motherboard or the video card they claimed were broken. The problems they claimed this time around included the video card, motherboard, disk drive, the operating system, and viruses. I put my foot down with the last 2 because I know how the system was running before it broke and we are armed to the teeth with virus software. When it did start up, one of the techs started pointing to various pieces of (government issued) software that I had installed saying "see that program, it doesn't belong there, it's a virus." They then decided the power supply was really the problem and "fixed" this by disconnecting the video card and the disk drive. They were in a rush to get me out the door at this point because I was getting in the way of their card games and did not offer to fix the power supply. At this point I decided to pay them and leave rather than risk any more harm to my computer. What was previously a computer than ran well and probably needed some new parts now barely runs at all (super slow, lots of errors) and does not have the video capability to run the software I need for work. As I was leaving, I heard them tell someone on the phone that even though they said they were open Saturday, they would not be fixing computers that weekend because they would be too busy playing cards. I wish they would have given me the same warning when I dropped my computer off, I would have seen that red flag and gone elsewhere. Every time I was there, they had many employees but you had to wait to be helped because they were busy playing card games. One time I heard them tell a customer they couldn't get a receipt because they were out of printer ink for every printer. Another time they told a customer that they never called him back because they don't check their voice mail. This place is in serious need of both adult supervision and competent computer techies and they have neither. Avoid it at all costs!
Description of Work: We asked them to fix a computer with a hardware failure.

After I downloaded a highly recommended app, I discovered it also made a number of other changes that interfered with computer's operation. I spent considerable time removing unwanted apps and restoring settings, but machine still did not work properly. I telephoned Hacker's, Inc. and asked about bringing my computer in. They told me I could drop it off anytime. After I explained my problem they told me their $69/2 hour checkup would probably take care of my problem. When I dropped the computer off the following morning, they said they were a little behind and might not get to my machine until the next day. Later that day, however, they called to inform me my computer was ready for pick up. They said they had removed a few items from the computer and generally cleaned out some unnecessary things so it would run cleaner. They also ran some malware programs and removed some potentially troublesome material. They also installed another anti-malware program on the computer which they said was better than the one I had installed. And they said the work was covered by their $69.00 service. When I picked up the computer the next day, they also told me they had found the reason the machine took so long to boot- I had inserted the printer installation dis backwards ( I had had trouble figuring out how to insert the disc in the drive because the drive was vertical, something I had never seen beforeand had not removed the disc) They were able to do this without making me feel too stupid, and they showed me the problem, When I got the machine home, it booted much quicker than it had been, and ran faster and more smoothly. I will definitely use them again if I have problems.
Description of Work: Checked computer for malware, removed unnecessary material, discovered and corrected cause of unusally long boot time; recommended and installed antivirus program to replace less effective one.

I had a system that was damaged from lightning. Hackers Ink provided a solid diagnosis, got the requisite parts (new motherboard), and had the system back up and delivered ahead of the promised time.
Description of Work: They diagnosed and repaired a system that would not boot. The system had been damaged by lightning during a storm, and they were able to determine the root cause (bad motherboard), get in replacement parts, and restore the system to full functionality.

I initially used them because my computers were not working at the office. They helped me out right away. I walked into their office and out with one of their techs. I know they can not do that always...but it sure impressed me. And soon my company I was up and running again. I have continued to use Hackers successfully for network issues, software problems, new equipment, and a website. And now you can even get Man Food at their office!! Although I am a woman, I still love the food. (Well..some is just too manly for me)
Description of Work: Hackers Ink has fix several of my computers, recommended and installed a new server, created a company website, and corrected some severe software issues. They have saved my company money and valuable time! They are awesome, and reasonable. I have a small company and down time on computers is costly. They have always responded rapidly, communicated well, and are more than fair in their pricing. I recently have purchased a new server system for my computer they were great with advice and price.
