Wooten Appliance

Things did not go well. The first technician looked at the fridge and said he would need to price replacement cooling coils and left. I expected an email within a day. I did not hear back from Wooten for 4 days and I emailed them. I was then told that the first tech "suggested a different technician check out the fridge because he couldn't get an exact diagnosis on it." Then Wooten sent a second Tech out 4 days later. This tech basically told my husband that nothing was wrong. He vacuumed the back of the fridge and left. Needless to say, this did not fix our refrigerator problem. I paid $139 to waste 8 hours of time (two 4 hour windows) and to not have my refrigerator fixed.

This is an update from the negative review I wrote on 9/19/2017, where I graded Wooten Appliance, with a big fat "F". Apparently, this company really cares about their reputation! I received a call from their main office shortly after Thanksgiving inquiring about my unfortunate experience. After my explanation, the woman apologized for the confusion on their part, as I also did the same for mine. We made arrangements for the same technician (Cody) to come out again. He was amazing! Punctual, pleasant, professional, knowledgeable, and focused. My appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher, and refrigerator) were in bad shape until he made the necessary adjustments, now everything is in perfect working order. I am so pleased and impressed with this company for not giving up on unpleasant circumstances and doing what they can, reasonably, to redress it. I would most definitely refer and hire them again.

I take no pleasure in writing this. In fact, I didn't want to. But other consumers have a right to know what to expect from Wooten Appliance if my experience is the norm. I made an appointment and took a half day off from work to meet the technician at my home. The appointment window on a Friday was from 2-5pm, and at 3:39pm I received a call from the technician saying he could not make it and asked me if it would it be ok to reschedule for the following day. I was upset but said OK, no problem, let's make it tomorrow - i understand in Maryland when there is a trace of snow on the ground, all **** breaks loose, so I was understanding and accommodating. The next day, I re-arranged my schedule - we have 5 kids so this is no small feat - and nobody shows up. No call, no email. I called, nobody answered. I sent emails, nobody replied. I sent texts, no response. To receive this kind of treatment - TWO DAYS IN A ROW - isn't disappointing. It's criminal. I lost wages taking time off work. I missed two of my kids games waiting for them to show up when they promised on a Saturday. Absolutely ZERO accountability - won't answer the phone, won't call, nothing.

Tech figure out what was wrong immediately and fixed it in 10 minutes. Save me from having to buy a new dryer and the new ones are terrible. This is a 25 year old dryer and should go for another 25....

Took 4 visits. Replaced 3 different parts, with large gaps of time between visits. Finally successful, but took almost a month.

Fast, on time and well done. Came within a day or two of initial contact, diagnosed the problem and ordered the part, received and completed the installation within a few days.

Overall, I was disappointed with my experience with Wooten, and the bottom line is that I paid $115 but feel that they did not try very hard to help me solve either problem. Initially, aside from the inconvenience of their scheduling practice of not telling you what time they might come until the day before (and then it is a four hour window), I was satisfied with their service. The repairman showed up on time, and was courteous and efficient. He couldn't diagnose the whistling sound, but he did identify the source of the leak and told me I just needed to replace the water valve. He also gave me useful advice that I should replace my plastic water lines. I paid him $115 for the 15 min. diagnostic visit (I was shocked by this fee, but I think it is standard practice), and he said Wooten would be in touch to follow up on replacing the water valve. However, after waiting several days for a follow up, I called (you must leave a message and wait for a return call) and discovered that the water valve is no longer manufactured and thus cannot be replaced. I understand this unfortunate fact, and also understand that Wooten's hands were tied in terms of replacing the valve. My main complaint is that the way they communicated with me amounted to a shoulder shrug (although a polite one). Furthermore, it often took several days to get responses because the office assistant would often have to relay the questions and answers. For $115, I expected them to at least: 1) initiate a follow up call to explain to me that the needed part was no longer manufactured and why replacement parts could not be found or recommended given that my fridge is only 6 years old. 2) Suggestions for how else I could solve my leak problem. If the water valve cannot be replaced, what other options do I have other than replacing the fridge? I figured I could stop using the water dispenser and somehow disconnect the water line. Yes, that may seem obvious, but I've never dealt with a fridge before and would have appreciated suggestions of how to do this without me having to keep bothering their office assistant with follow up questions. I will note that their office assistant, Stephanie, was professional, courteous, and responsive. I think the problem I experienced is with the company more broadly- perhaps they have too many customers and don't have the need or the time to provide better customer service? Ultimately, they did answer my questions, but it should not have taken a month of back and forth questions filtered through the office assistant to resolve.

Darrel was able to figure out the problem right away and thankfully, did not need any additional parts to complete the repair. He was in and out within 30 minutes. Very courteous and friendly. I would recommend them to anyone needing appliance repair work.

There were several miscommunications but Wooten was patient and responsive. The serviceman diagnosed the problem and returned to do the repair once he secured the proper part.

Initial diagnosis was a valve failure, however it proved to be the ice maker unit. The second technician was better trained and found the real problem fast. Overall both technicians have been polite and responsive.

Came out promptly but found they couldn't do the repair. Immediately got a full refund. Admire their integrity and quick turnaround.

Great. Darryl was an outstanding technician. He called me when he was on his way, arrived on time, immediately diagnosed the problem and fixed it. He actually had to retrieve one part that he didn't have on his van and so he returned that evening after his regular workday and was in & out in 10 minutes - very nice! He was very competent and courteous and i will be requesting him for any future work. The price of the repair was a good value.

The repair process went very well and Daryl Wooten did an excellent job. I recommend him without reservation and value his integrity and assessment/repair skills. I have found my appliance repair person/company!

I needed to have the vents in my clothes dryer cleaned, and I found Wooten on Angie's list. It is a bit difficult to call them, because they are automatically answered by an answering machine and there does not seem to be a way to immediately talk to a person or know when there will be a call back. However, they did in fact call me back within an hour, and the appointment was promptly scheduled for within a week. The serviceman arrived with a powerful machine to suction out the dryer, and the job seems to have been quite correctly done. He also gave me some good advice, pointing out that the dryer's exhaust tube was not an efficient one and next year, instead of again calling a serviceman to clean out the vent, I could replace the tube myself with a new and stiffer flexible tube. With an Angie's List coupon of $20 for initial use, the charge was only $69.

Very well. He was prompt, courteous and professional!. In fact, we’re using them again in the coming week for a different appliance (oven) fix.

It went extremely well. The men were professional. If I remember correctly, they were punctual and waiting for me when I arrived. They came inside, went directly to the fridge, diagnosed the problem, and fixed the leak - saving me from having to buy another fridge! They also inspected the washer and dryer and were quite knowledgeable about both - even suggesting that I reduce the amount of detergent I was using because of the machine type and concentration of the detergent I was using. I would hire them again.

The young man was very pleasant when explaining (in terms I understood) the problem. He further explained what I could do to prevent future problems.
