+ -1 moreI spoke with the folks at Wooten several times setting up the appointment and discussing price. There was always excellent communication. When the appointment was set they were very punctual. When they were here the repairman walked us through repairs needed. He was very knowledgeable. In the end our part is going to cost as much as new so we've decided to replace the appliance instead. I would and do recommend Wooten for your appliance repair needs.
Description of Work: We had two large appliances that needed attention. Our dishwasher had gotten junk stuck in the pump and our oven shuts off randomly. Turns out the motor I disassembled was a sealed unit and is replaced in whole, and the oven has a special kind of igniting mechanism prone to this problem and not something Wooten could repair.

+ -1 moreI purchased a Deal coupon. The company made an appointment for me quickly, the tech arrived in the appointment window and had a professional appearance and manner. My otherwise well-running refrigerator had stopped dispensing water and ice in the door. When he was unable to figure out why, he took the trouble to call other techs until he found someone who had a suggestion on what was causing the problem. He ordered the needed part, and returned when scheduled. Unfortunately, the part did not fix the problem. Since he had checked all parts involved in ice and water dispensing, there was really nothing else to try, so he offered a refund and another service call free of charge. Although the problem was not repaired, I was impressed by the company's overall attitude, professionalism, and performance. I will certainly use them again.

+ -1 moreWhile we were traveling, our college age kids somehow managed to start a fire on the glass top of our Kitchenaid electric range (do NOT ask me how they managed to accomplish this. Once everything was cleaned up, the control pad on the front of the range that controls the oven, the warming drawer, etc. wasn't functioning properly. I was busy and managed to live with it for a few weeks, constantly reminding myself to head over to Angie's List to find a repairman. The decision was made for me when the touchpad failed completely. Wooten Appliance to the rescue! I purchased the deal listed here ($99 for a $140 service call), and within a week, the precise nature of the problem was determined, the part was ordered, and my Kitchenaid is working as it did the day I purchased it. When the price of the part was added in, my total cost was $250 and, equally important, my aggravation level (unfortunately often quite high when dealing with repairman) was ZERO. I really couldn't be happier with the service and I'm thrilled to have found a reliable appliance repairman. I will use him again whenever we need a repair and will recommend him to friends and business associates without reservation. Can ya tell I'm a very happy camper?

He said that my machine was a good one, and it’s just that one little part tends to break down. So he fixed the wiring, and made it work and he made sure I didn’t small children, so I thought he was very professional about the whole thing. I would rate him highly and I would use him in the future.
Description of Work: I used Wooten Appliances to repair my washing machine. The lid latch was not working and he re-routed the wiring, so that the washing machine works whether the lid is open or not.

+ -1 more5 yr old Jenn-Air refrigerator was not cooling properly, this is days before Easter and a house full of people coming. Daryl had a full schedule the day we called, however still offered to come in the evening or first thing the next morning. He came at 7:30 pm and quickly determined we needed a new control board (frost buildup in the freezer),apparently a common problem for our model. Daryl came back the next afternoon to install a new control board. If this is not the correct diagnosis (athough Daryl is very certain that it is) I appreciated that he stated he "stands behind his work" and would return the control board if not the problem and would fix at not charge for labor if it is something else. He purchases his parts from a reputable company that supplies manufacture's' products. I found that control boards online range in price, however we preferred the manufacturer's brand producst, so apperciate Daryl did not skimp on quality. Daryl and his assistant Andrea were professional, timely and customer service focused. This was our first time using Angie's List and we were very satisfied and pleased in finding Daryl and Wooten Appliances.

+ -1 moreI had purchased an annual agreement via the Big Deal on Angie's List which is why there was no charge. The washer wasn't draining because it was clogged with various junk from years of use. Darryl fixed it right away.
Description of Work: My washing machine (Kenmore stackable unit) is in a tiny space. Darryl showed up, on time and went right to work. He determined the problem then fixed it-no whining, no explaining how it's my fault like so many other repair people do. I will use him for all of my appliance repair issues because he is one of the best I've ever encountered in decades of being a homeowner.

We were able to get an appointment for the next day. Daryl was very professional. We had already suspected what the problem was and knew approximately how much it should cost. Daryl's diagnosis and cost estimate were in line with our expectations. He also had a pleasant demeanor and was very good with my toddler son, who was very interested in what he was doing.

Description of Work: I called the company to schedule an appointment a got a recording instructing me to press 3 for refrigerator repair. After pressing 3, I got another recording telling me the office hours end at 4:00pm (it was 2:30 at the time of my call) and to leave my name and I would be connected to a someone. The recording kept repeating, “trying to connect you”; then the recording changed to “the office is now closed, if you’re calling during normal business hours, then I’m on the phone”. At that point I hung up the phone. This is apparently not a company looking for new business.

Description of Work: Good Experience: Never easy to find a good and trust-worthy appliance repair company, but these folks gave me a clear estimate, were there when they promised, identified the problem in short amount of time, and suggested an affordable solution for our broken oven. They did not do one of those - "Well, you are going to need a new this and a new that and they dont make this and we are going to have to order from Russia but they make the part in China but it is shipped thru Chile, etc" - We have had our share of those, and this was the opposite. We also had him take a look at a leak we started to get the day of his service job on our dishwasher, and he was honest with us on that front - he told us that it can be repaired, but it would be cheaper to buy a new one at the price these are going for now - so we did. One Suggestion: The only suggestion we would have for Darryll and his team at Wooten is to get a better scheduling system in place. They just installed a new automated appointment service, and it needs improvement. It took us a few attempts before we were able to confirm the appointment, and they are busy, so you may need to give them a couple of days before they can schedule you in, but he was worth it.

Description of Work: Refrigerator/freezer was freezing over and therefore not cooling properly. Daryl first replaced a part that was the cheapest and most likely cause. However, that did not solve the problem. He told me up front that it could be something else that was more costly and he ordered that part at the same time just in case. He came back and replaced the second part and it solved the problem.

They arrived on the earlier side of the time frame, introduced themselves, then quickly and politely fixed the washer, tested it, cleaned up and were done! We have a stacking washer/drier in a tight space, and they were able to deal with it just fine.
Description of Work: Diagnosed problem, replaced bad belt, found a leak I didn't know I had and fixed it with a part he had on his truck even though it is an older machine.

+ -1 moreThe first time I used the washing machine after the repair, it sounded like a different machine. It purrs like a kitten now. I have to open the basement door to hear if it is still running or has finished its cycle. If, as Darryl said could happen, the motor dies or any other repair is needed, I will definitely call Wooten for another repair. He is awesome. The only reason I gave him a B for punctuality is because he is so incredibly busy that he cannot keep to his scheduled appointment times. Plus, he is based in Ellicott City, and I am in NE Baltimore, an area he usually does not service. I can see why Darryl is in such great demand. I can't say enough good things about him. Besides knowing his job inside and out, he is a very personable young man, and it was a pleasure to work with him.
Description of Work: I had purchased the big deal for a major appliance repair for my 20+ year old washing machine. It had been leaving the clothes very wet at the end of the spin cycle, and would rock pretty violently while it spun. The loud thudding it made could be heard from all over the house. Darryl, the business owner, examined the washing machine, and concluded that it had a bad transmission. He gave me several options, and did not try to influence me into having it repaired. He actually suggested that I not have a repair, as the machine was nearing the end of it's life at 20+ years old, plus, a new transmission would be the most expensive repair. He told me some of the issues involved with new models, and advised me to check reviews on new machines. He said that if I did choose to repair it, he would do the repair for about 1/2 the regular price, since I had purchased the big deal. I spoke to friends who had recently purchased new washing machines, and also extensively read on-line reviews of various models. Most bemoaned that the new machines could not compare to their old ones. I decided that my machine was far superior to the current models, and opted to have Darryl come back to repair mine. It was obvious that Darryl really knows his business. When he came to replace the transmission, I told him I was also having problems with the fabric softener leaving blotches on my clothes. He immediately saw that the agitator was swinging both ways, and was surprised that the clothes were getting clean at all, and that the fabric softener problem could have been from either the slow spin or the disconnected agitator. Darryl replaced the transmission, cleaned the inside of the washing machine, and replaced the "dogs" that connect the agitator.

No mention was made of this service area when I placed the service call on approx.Jan. 17,2012. I want a full refund of the $74.00 fee PLUS a full refund of my subscription monies. A store credit will be unacceptable as I wish to cancel my account. Mr. Wooten, the owner of Wooten Appliances explained to me that he was specific to Angie's List that he had only certain areas that he serviced and his request was ignored. + -1 moreMr. Wooten investigated the older Whirlpool range model and learned the range incorrectly indicates the oven is ready (buzzing indicator) before it has reached the entered temperature. He told me replacing the "board" would not correct the problem. I appreciated his research because investing in the appliance would not correct the problem. He recommended setting the timer for 20 minutes before using the oven which is working perfectly. Earlier he correctly diagnosed and fixed my periodic refrigerator excessive cooling problem by returning when the problem occurred. He repaired the problem without needing new parts. This result was possible because he agrees to return twice for the initial fee in order to diagnose the problem correctly.

+ -1 moreMy experience with Daryl Wooten was every bit as positive as those reported by other members. I contacted the company by e-mail and got a prompt response and an appointment for the following business day. Mr. Wooten called the night before to give a more precise time frame, and he arrived on schedule. After patiently examining the situation, Mr. Wooten offered advice that was both expert and refreshingly honest. He told me that the transmission was leaking oil and could not be repaired because the parts were no longer available. At the same time, he said that the situation was not yet serious and the other parts seemed in good order and thus the machine could continue to function OK for a while longer, perhaps up to 3 or 4 years. I had already been contemplating just using the machine till it died completely, since all reports I had heard were that current machines are much more poorly made. So despite the bad news re repair, it was helpful to have my judgment confirmed in all respects, and by an expert who had nothing to gain from his advice. I should add that Mr. Wooten has a very pleasant and helpful manner and that he credits Angie's List with putting his 12-year old business on an even stronger footing. The benefits are mutual. It was an all-around good experience, and I will certainly use him again if any of my appliances goes wrong (he handles all of them), which is an unfortunate inevitability.
Description of Work: My washing machine was making ominous screeching noises at some cycles, and I wasn't sure whether to repair or replace it. The Big Deal offered by Wooten Appliance came at a good time, since I had found that the user reviews of the current crop of new washing machines were uniformly dismal, making diagnosis and possible repair seem a better option.
