They have great service. It went as well as excepted. Very punctual and professional. They were detailed and explained everything they did, this was my first time dealing with a major repair so that was helpful.

From the outset of the project I've been happy with Straka Contracting. My main point of contact was Dan Barker. From the beginning Dan was helpful with ideas on how to reconfigure our basement to best suit our needs. He wasn't pushy----and they came up with a fair proposal that best met our needs. They were helpful in explaining questions we had at the outset which resulted in almost no misunderstandings through the entire process. They worked with our schedule, and kept us apprised on when things would happen. The nice thing about Straka is you don't have to micromanage them, and overall I would say they are very easy to work with. They obviously pride themselves in doing quality work, and when they used subcontractors monitored their work to make sure it met their requirements. When feasible they were able to suggest ways to reduce costs. Through their network they were able to arrange for a granite remnant at a great price for our wet bar. They were also able to help us get a particular carpet we were looking for through a wholesaler out of state (and then installed by them)---which allowed us to keep our costs within our planned budget. We are very happy with the outcome of the basement remodel. All in all, if you are looking for a trustworthy company that does quality work at a fair price I would strongly recommend them.

Straka Contracting was fabulous. They're responsive and they have integrity. The were very flexible, accommodating on how I wanted to complete the job and when. Their expertise and professionalism was comforting as they gave me confidence because of their attention to detail, quality and cost conscious approach. Ultimatly, they started and completed the job on time, on budget and with a quality outcome. My wife is super happy that humidity from taking showers no longer exists / lingers in the bathrooms. I'm happy that she's happy.

The whole process from initial contact to completion went very smoothly. All communication via Karel was regular and my mails or phone calls were returned within 1 day. The work items were detailed clearly, all options presented, there was great transparency throughout the process. They crew were cheerful, took their time, and were thorough in their work and took no short-cuts. Clearly, they knew how to build and finish decks very well. I am extremely happy with the work and the project overall. I am glad I went with consummate professionals who worked earnestly and took pride in the quality of their work. Strongly recommend.

They left the place dusty and he didn't wipe down the ceiling. There was no concern over the chemicals they used. They left equipment at the house for awhile and never heard from him and then out of the blue he called and said he was coming to get the equipment. I told the company I was chemical sensitive before the job was performed but it didn't make any difference. They never even checked up on the work after the job had been completed.

It was very good. I would give them overall an "A". From what I could tell, the workers were good. Most of the days it was just one or two, but he had between two and three guys out there with him. It was over four days, so it was like over the weekend. They left the area fine. They cleaned everything up.

Great experience overall. Everything was done timely (ahead of schedule, actually!) and everything from the initial appointment for the estimate to the cleanup of the final speck of sawdust was flawless. Highly recommend.

Everything went very well. Very trustworthy and punctual. They did not try to oversell us things we did not need. They were very detail oriented in their work and we did not find anything wrong. We've had a couple hard rains and no leaks in the roof so far, so that's good! We definitely recommend them to others.

I am happy with the experience I had with Straka. Karel provided an estimate the day after reaching out to him, and he was able to arrange his schedule to begin work the following week. The team discovered less water damage than anticipated when pulling away the sheetrock and so credited us for the amount. Dan identified poor workmanship by a prior plumber and had that repaired at minimal cost. Karel worked with us to find specifically the right door that we wanted. The team was good to work with, honest, and did quality work.

Very high quality of work and with consistently lower than usual winter temps in the negative digits, the workmanship held up very well; no drafts, cracks, etc. It'll be a year in July and it still looks crisp and brand new.

Straka is an angel. He is absolutely fantastic. His work is perfect. I've used him for many years. I was selling a house and there was some structural termite damage that was found last minute before closing. I had people come out and give me estimates. Some people wouldn't even give me an estimate, they didn't want to fool with it. He came out and did the job in record time. His estimate was under what the other ones were and his work is absolutely perfect. I cannot say enough good things about Carl. As soon as I get myself a better work, I'm going to ask him to do some work on my house now. I had him do a number of things over the course of last Summer and last Fall on the house. I will absolutely use them again.

They took about a day to complete the job. It went pretty smooth and it was good. They did a good job. Their responsiveness was good. They were here on time.

Overall I was satisfied on quality and value of work. When hiccups arrived Karel was great with the communication. Look forward to bringing them out again for other jobs.

This was the second time I used STRAKA Contracting and they were just as awesome as the first time I used them. Karel is wonderful. I called when my deck failed inspection with a sell pending. I was out of the country and needed a quick turnaround. Karel and STRAKA Contracting came to my rescue. I wish I could clone them! The job was professional, timely, and reasonably priced. The customer service is outstanding! I am a very satisfied customer! This company is the best!

Karel Straka from Straka Contracting helped transform our semi-finished basement from an area that the previous owner had attempted unsuccessfully to complete, into a wonderful three-room addition to our home that looks as nice as our main level! From the very first, Karel and his assistant Dan took the time to understand what we were looking for and to make suggestions when it was clear we needed an experienced eye to help with a design solution. They focused on listening to our questions and concerns, and then worked with us to develop a plan to fit our budget. Karel and Dan were very clear on how the work would progress, and what milestone dates we could expect to see (they nailed all of their estimated completion dates for the various stages of the work). Throughout, the communication between both Straka Contracting, as well as several subcontractors that they brought in for specialty work, was perfect! My calls were quickly returned (often within minutes), and Karel and his team were always extremely polite and professional. The work was completed on-time and on-budget!! As for the work itself, we could not be more pleased with the quality and finish!! During the final walk-through, several minor areas were noted that needed to be addressed, and Karel ensured that all aspects of the work were addressed to our satisfaction. It is important to note that several of the areas that needed additional attention were not even noticed by my wife and I, but rather, were brought to our attention by Karel and Dan. This in itself speaks volumes to this team's integrity! Some of the challenging work involved correcting significant mistakes by the previous owner including: improper plumbing practices (main waste stack not having its grade properly set), toilet not set properly and too close to the wall, hot/cold water supply lines not secured to the walls, several cPVC lines not even properly glued to each other); HVAC ducting that was not properly secured, not encased (incredibly wavy bulkheads that were an eyesore); In one case, rather than reposition the drain line from the basement bathroom sink through the concrete foundation, the previous owner had the pipe come through one of the few finished walls in the basement (Karel had a plumber break up some of the concrete and reposition the pipe, and then he repaired the wall so that it was nicely finished). Dan put significant effort into getting the old, lackluster stairs to the basement (including the landing) looking as nice as he did. This included replacing the treads and risers, as well as meticulously staining the wood king to stain the wood so that it would closely match the newly-laid basement flooring. The resulting work speaks for itself and looks fantastic!!! The work included building several new walls, as well as tearing down the old, poorly-fabricated and installed HVAC bulkheads that hid the duct work. As mentioned earlier, these "wavy" bulkheads were a constant eyesore, as well as instantly noticeable by anyone we brought into the basement. Karel and Dan provided some suggestions and even helped us save money by providing a solution that didn't require moving a gas line (~$1000 expense). The finished result are several very nicely-done bulkheads that conceal the HVAC duct work, while managing to look good on the ceiling! Old cabinets were removed, with new floor and wall-mounted units installed. Electrical outlets moved, and in some cases, newly installed. Shoe molding and trim expertly installed, with attention given to even ensuring the nail holes for the trim are all filled with caulk and painted. When we wanted to re-purpose one small alcove to be a wine room, Karel and Dan provided some suggestions that helped us determine our best path forward (it really helps to have experienced eyes look at your proposed remodel ideas to help you understand what really does or does not make sense before you commit the resources and time). Throughout the work, the jobsite was always left cleaned and picked up. In closing, we can say unequivocally that going with Straka Contracting was by far one of the best decisions as homeowners we have ever made. The work performed, and the quality of that work is what sets Karel and his company above the competition. We have already requested and received quotes for future work in our home from Karel, and look forward to working with him. Not only can we say we have had some really fine work completed in our home by Straka Contracting, but we have developed a wonderful professional relationship with Karel and his team. With his pricing very fair, and his company's work of exceptional quality, we've found our sole source for future home improvements. Scheduling took a while, however once work started everything was completed thoroughly and professionally. Karel and his team didn't rush, and took the time to get things right.

I really appreciated Karel's responsiveness and his pragmatic approach. A lot of contractors are focused more on what they can sell you than on what you want or need. I would definitely look to use them in the future.

Estimator was professional and courteous. Detailed estimate was completed within a few days and alterations were made quickly when I made clarifications. The price was 50% higher than the other two estimates I received, so I decided against hiring Straka to do the job.

They did a really good job. The owner came over and gave a price. He was very honest and told me some of the work didn't need to be done and charged me half of what he estimated. Very honest and the price was good. Showed up on time.

I basically like everything. They're good people. They listen. They're responsive. The owner is a very nice person and his workers are good. I had several estimates and he was not at the bottom but in the lower end.

Straka did an excellent job finishing our basement, which is approximately 900 square feet. They created a bedroom with a large closet, installed a full bathroom with a beautiful ceramic tile design, created built-in shelving, built a utility room with washer / dryer connections, and created a storage closet under the stairs - to maximize the existing space. With the remaining space we now have a very large combined family room / play room /media room - with a 7.1 wall mounted speaker system. The best part about dealing with Straka is their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Straka worked tirelessly to meet our every demand, while being conscientious of cost. If any work or outcome didn't meet our expectation or specification, Straka graciously made the required adjustment until we were fully satisfied. No request was too big or too small. "With a smile", Straka took pride in remedying anything that concerned us. It really felt like they were willing to do anything we requested. They even consulted and advised us on work unrelated to the scope of work for which they were hired. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND STRAKA CONTRACTING and plan to use them again when we remodel our kitchen and powder room.

The contractor excelled at both the process of planning and building the job as well as the finished product. Work site was neat and cleaned up each day that work was conducted. The overall design and look of the completed deck is spectacular. The contractor provided ideas for a range of options for us to consider from a diagonal pattern to selection among a variety of materials. We were not pressured for any particular decision, and the job was scheduled promptly after we received approval from our homeowners association to build.

I was met within an hour of placing my inquiry through Angie's List. My quote was given the same night via email. Within a couple of days I had a new, lovely fence that all of my neighbors envy. I can't speak highly enough about this company. The customer service is superior!! Karel was a pleasure to work with. I wish I had more work for him because finding a great contractor is priceless. Great Job! Karel was in communications with me throughout the job. As issues and challenges arose he described he issue, provided alternatives and gave me all information I needed to make a decision. When his crew encountered challenges that resulted in more man-hours than planned he explained the situation but did not "gouge" for more funds. His crew worked through several 90+ degree days to finish when expected. I found this business to be run with integrity and I would most definitely use them again
