Great. Karel and Lenny were prompt, professional, and friendly, and their work was top notch. I've gotten a number of compliments already on how great the deck and fence look. I couldn't be happier with the result and certainly wouldn't hesitate to hire Straka Contracting for work in the future.

Straka Contracting did an excellent job all the way around! The price was very reasonable and Karel helped us by finding a deal on end-of-run materials. We had some challenging aspects to the job (existing railing was built into the siding, rotted molding around a doorframe, existing deck built before house was sided so extra molding needed to be added, etc.) and Karel addressed all issues with fine craftsmanship. When I called to better understand how they were handling one aspect of the job, Karel came over the next morning before my 7 AM departure to explain exactly what was going on. I highly recommend them and would definitely hire them again.

Shop no further, these are your guys! There are no words to express just how happy I was with Straka, from start to finish. They were extremely professional, came up with incredible ideas for the changes we needed, then provided us with professional drawings so we could see what it would look like before committing to a layout. We priced out 4 other contractors and Straka had the best pricing and service. I had an infant at home during construction and they were so incredibly courteous with our situation, particularly to noise and dust. Every detail was planned and I didn't have to stress about anything. The work they did turned out perfect, no issues at all! And everything finished on time!!! This wasn't like having a bunch of strange guys in your house, making a ton of unnecessary noise, and all the other typical things on a construction site. I was here with them most of the time, and it just felt like I had some friends over to help out. Honestly, this is who you want!

Karel was quick to respond to my inquiry for a new deck/porch estimate. Price was very reasonable but decided to postpone the project until a further date. Will contact again in the future when we decide to proceed.

We love our new, beautiful master bath! Both Karel (owner) and Dan (project manager) were a pleasure to work with - professional, experienced, honest and thoughtful. Their communication skills are excellent, which meant a lot to us. The end result is better than we could have imagined. Highly recommend and hope to work with them again in the future.

Mr. Straka came out to measure and provided a written estimate very promptly. He was responsive to our questions about alternative materials and flexible regarding add-ons like the railing and gate. The team was professional and communicative. When work could not be completed during the week because of poor weather, they asked to work on a Saturday. This kept the project moving toward our target completion date. The deck looks great.

Very happy with the result. Not only did he replace the flooring and railing as requested, but improved the layout of the deck. Stairs required replacement due to code. This was consistent across estimates provided by multiple companies. Suggested relocation of stairs, with excellent outcome and no increase in price. Replaced gate with a much improved version. Clearly cares about quality of work.

The entire project was done beautifully. Karel and his team were the perfect professionals. Karel, who is also the Owner, is a hands on person, and participated in the construction work along with his team. Great attention was paid to even the smallest detail, and the end product was outstanding. We did not have to worry about any aspect of the project, including obtaining the County permit, inspections, etc. The team also rerouted an existing electrical cable and an existing drainage pipe under the deck. The area below and around the new deck was hand graded neatly to allow for natural drainage. Highly recommended.

The result is beautiful and the workmanship top quality. Karel and team were professional and punctual and always left the site tidy after finishing for the day. Karel did a good job of keeping me informed via email of status, and when they would be here. Highly recommend.

He came out to look at the job and talk to me, but after 10 days, I have yet to receive an estimate from him. I chose this company because they had such great Angie's List reviews. I guess my small job is not worth his time. I feel terrible giving a bad review because I am not usually a complainer, but I really want to get the doors replaced soon. I am quite disappointed by this experience.

Very pleased. After removed the old deck, they found out house had an unknown foundation problem because of water seepage with old deck structure. They identified the problem, showed us the issue and were able to do fairly complicated foundation work in addition to deck project. They took care of permits and inspections. Will use them again, reasonable price and happy with end product.

Neighbor's power went off - this contractor plugged into my house electric without asking for permission!! Bad decision!

Excellent. Only minor problem upfront was just coordinating get together as we were both very busy. But Karel always showed up when he said he would and did excellent work. He even came back to do a shingle replacement at no additional charge, even though it was me who forgot to mention beforehand that I had extra matching ones available.

From start to finish, working with Karel Straka was a very pleasant experience. He is enormously understanding, patient, flexible, cordial, polite and very professional. I found it very easy to communicate with him both in-person and via email. He was always very responsive to requests and I am extremely happy with the decks he built. I would absolutely recommend him to Angies List members or anyone else in need of his excellent services.

We dealt from start to finish with Karel Straka. We found Karel to be extremely helpful and knowledgable. Initially, we were unsure as to whether we wanted to replace the original wood deck with another wood deck or, replace it with a composite deck. Karel provided un-biased and professional advice about the pros and cons of both types of decks as well as his experience with different manufacturers of composite decks. Our experience was that during the entire process Karel was prompt in returning phone calls and e-mails and always showed up on time for scheduled appointments. Once we got to the point where we were making decisions about the stairway from the backyard and recreating some flower boxes that we had on the railings of the old wooden deck, Karel was able to create a couple of very unique and good looking flower boxes that could be supported by the composite deck railing. We were impressed that Karel was able to create a solution and not just tell us that it could not be done. As the construction progressed, we had to go out of town and we were able to rely on Karel and his crew to finish the deck according to schedule so that when we returned, everything was completely finished. Our neighbors who were watching the house were amazed that he work continued to proceed according to schedule, even though we were not at home and other contractors might have used opportunity to work on other projects. In summary, we would recommend, without any reservation, others who might be considering work that could be done by Straka Contracting.

They were extremely professional and detailed. He provided a detailed drawing for us to submit to our homeowners association and kept us regularly updated on the status of the supply order, and the project plan timetable. The job was well managed, quick, and we are thrilled with our new deck. We have had many compliments on the workmanship.

The first stumbling block was with the county. Even though our old deck was permitted and inspected they rejected the permit application for the new deck even though it had the same dimensions and location. Karel, the company owner, did get things straightened out and the project proceeded without any further problems. Karel and his crew did all the things you expect from a quality contractor but, seldom seem to get. They were on site when they said they would be, they cleaned up at the end of the day and the quality of the work was superior. After the deck was finished I decided I wanted the bottom step extended to form a landing. Karel got it designed and built in a short amount of time. Although, probably not as fast as some others because he built the landing as he builds everything, to last a lifetime. Before he would build it he had to come and put in a footer for the end of the landing as he didn't want it to sink away from the stairs (which also sit on a concrete footer). I would definitely use them again.

Our work days leave little time to coordinate or complete projects. We requested a turn -key large ground level deck built in our backyard. They were professional and timely in completing our requested service and this was during the busiest time of the year for their business! The deck is very well constructed, they kept the work area clean and neat each day and removed all debris at the end of the job. We absolutely received the turn-key service we requested!

From the outset of the project I've been happy with Straka Contracting. My main point of contact was Dan Barker. From the beginning Dan was helpful with ideas on how to reconfigure our basement to best suit our needs. He wasn't pushy----and they came up with a fair proposal that best met our needs. They were helpful in explaining questions we had at the outset which resulted in almost no misunderstandings through the entire process. They worked with our schedule, and kept us apprised on when things would happen. The nice thing about Straka is you don't have to micromanage them, and overall I would say they are very easy to work with. They obviously pride themselves in doing quality work, and when they used subcontractors monitored their work to make sure it met their requirements. When feasible they were able to suggest ways to reduce costs. Through their network they were able to arrange for a granite remnant at a great price for our wet bar. They were also able to help us get a particular carpet we were looking for through a wholesaler out of state (and then installed by them)---which allowed us to keep our costs within our planned budget. We are very happy with the outcome of the basement remodel. All in all, if you are looking for a trustworthy company that does quality work at a fair price I would strongly recommend them.

They have great service. It went as well as excepted. Very punctual and professional. They were detailed and explained everything they did, this was my first time dealing with a major repair so that was helpful.
