S & J Painting & Remodeling

Good work, good workers. Of the three latter, Alex and Dustin in particular were exceptionally skilled, painstaking, professional, and pleasant to deal with. (Alex is a master plasterer as well as painter.) Owner, Jerry, extended every effort & consideration in accommodating as much as possible both the length of my to-do list and the limits of my budget; and he allowed me to determine [and to shift, as work progressed] the relative priority of tasks within the agreed-upon time and cost. My home was built in 1921, Everything I love about it is also a "bear" to maintain. Until now, I had done most of the maintenance, repair, and painting myself; but much of the work I needed done this time was more demanding than I could manage. The S & J team was undaunted by, and entirely up to, the challenges an older home presents -- including the inevitable surprises once repairs begin. The cost was reasonable, the results excellent -- and the crew's cleanup was a miracle. I would hire them again in a heartbeat

They have done a very good job. I think they were a bit expensive but the quality of work was excellent. They were flexible. They kept the area where they worked clean. I felt that I paid quite a bit but it was not extremely expensive. I felt that it was on the pricey side but I got good quality on the other hand. They brought 2 people but most of the time only one person worked. It didn’t bother me that much but I felt that if 2 people worked, it could have shortened the process. On the price I would say it wasn’t the best. They were very, very polite and asked for feedback. They asked if I had any problem with the quality of the paint, they would come and do it again. It took them 2 days to do the job. They had a very good profile on Angie’s List.

I thought they did a pretty good job. There were one or two things that they were not able to accommodate; I don't think they have a locksmith on staff. Other than that they did good work and had a pretty reasonable price. They followed up nicely. Since I was not on site at the rental property when they did the work they took some pictures and sent them to me; which was very helpful.

S&J Painting and Remodeling were really open and transparent about things and they seemed really knowledgeable and they didn't try to upsell on anything. They actually let me pick the door that I wanted instead of buying a custom door. Everything went great.

I thought that they were very accommodating because I had a time frame to get into the property. They were initially pretty responsive to any request I had. The workers were very good. I like them. They were very nice and respectful. On the back end they weren't as responsive.

Called and had service within a week.

The experience with them was excellent. The price was good. The punctuality was good. The clean up was good. The quality of service was good. I was very pleased with them. I would highly recommend them for somebody who is looking for a good quality job and a reasonable price.

I bought the Angie's List Big Deal, and used it to have my garage interior painted. The painter did a great job, he clearly communicated what he would be doing each day, and the results look great. Since this was a Big Deal, I was responsible for getting the paint myself. I was able to get the S&J discount at the Sherwin-Williams store. It was a little challenging to get the right materials - the first can of primer I bought did not cover well, I should have bought oil-based instead of latex. Lesson learned... I also had a bathroom ceiling painted, it is awesome!!

For the second time in less than a year, we hired S&J to do some interior painting at our house. As with our first time hiring S&J, we were very pleased in every facet of the job. Jose and one other painter (I don't remember his name, apologies), were on time, friendly, and did high quality work that was consistent with what we've come to expect from S&J. The price was about average in comparison to local competition, but was a good value given the quality of the work. We would definitely hire S&J again and would recommend them to others in need of their services.

I contacted Steve originally back in November of 2011. To get an estimated on all three bathrooms. I also called a few others. Steve was the only one to come on time AND take measurements. The other ones did not. I later decided to just start with the little half bath and had a friend do it. Then in April or May of 2012, I wanted to have the main upstairs bathroom renovated. I contacted Steve and he once again came over and measured. About a month after that he began demolition. After a couple of days, I mentioned that the hard wood flooring needed covering from damage and mess. He then put a plastic covering down the hall and down the stairs. It wasn't taped and it was kind of slippery, but it was okay. The entire process was done in a timely manner. He was here most everyday. When ever I had a question, he was always available by phone and if I left a message, he was quick to respond. He's a friendly guy and we had some enjoyable conversations. At one point during the heat of summer, he was mudding up the glass tiles on the shower wall and it was very hot in there. He was sweating like crazy! He never once complained or showed irritation on my demands. In fact, the glass tiles were not part of the plan, but he did it anyway without complaint or additional cost. His helpers who did the painting did a fairly good job except they didn't get around the tile/wall area very well and they got paint on the door handles. I mentioned this to Steve and he retouched paint and removed paint where it shouldn't be. Once I left the water running in my kitchen sink, and I flooded the floor and it went to the basement. I was beside myself! Steve jumped right on it and took charge to clean up the water..on the floor, under my sink and even the basement! That was super of him! All in all, he did a very nice job and would recommend him.

Dustin showed up on time and was very professional and did a great job.

Showed up on time. Followed instructions to the letter. Did nice clean up upon departure.

Called quickly to make appointment. Schedule quickly. Picked up supplies. Did a full day of patching and repairing plaster problems. Were courteous and worked hard. Clean up was great. Only problem was that it took twice as long and cost twice as much as I had counted on with my $450 for two painters for one day special. I had tried to explain the area and plaster needs on the phone, but it is difficult to describe that way. Jerry was more than fair and gave me the same discount for a second day so I can't complain. Just wish the special had included a pre-paint walk through. Would have avoided misunderstandings.

All phases ( other than my tiling selection problem -which was MY problem not theirs) was executed on time and in budget.

Jerry, the owner, was very responsive in meeting us to provide a cost estimate for the work. His workers showed up on time and left on time, at the end of the day. They worked in our home from three days. The first day I stayed home with them. The next two days my husband and I both went to work leaving them to complete the drywall repairs and painting. They moved the heavy furniture and put the things back in there original location. We bought the paint and primer and S&J provided the other items needed to make the repairs. The quality of the drywall repairs and painting were excellent. However, I was slightly surprised to see areas of small drops of paint on the carpet. The painters did not use the primer we bought so we returned it to the store, unopened, and got our money back. Once the job was completed, Jerry emailed me asking if we were satisfied with the results. I let him know about the paint and he had the painter call the next day to set-up a time to come back to our home to remove the paint drops from the carpet. We decided to just clean the carpet ourselves rather set-up time for the painter to come back. Overall we were pleased with the quality of the work and would recommend S&J to our friends.

I contacted S&J vial email to ask if they could meet my tight timeframe. He was able to schedule me in for the following week. Nestor and his coworker showed up at 9:30 am and worked until a lunch break. They came back and said the plaster wasn't dry and that they would come back tomorrow early. They were a little late but called to let me know they'd be late and it was fine. All in all, I was really happy with S&J and would use them again.

Trying to schedule a date for the painters to come was less than ideal- it took multiple phone calls and seemed a bit disorganized at times. The painters arrived about an hour later than scheduled due to traffic, unfortunately they did not notify us so we had to call to confirm that they were going to show up. Once they arrived however, their work was great. They started working right away and were able to complete what we had originally planned on, and then some! The quality of the workmanship was high and the painters were responsive to our requests. Prior to painting they patched and repaired small areas of the wall which was above and beyond what we expected. Once the work was complete, they vacuumed and wiped down the work area, making sure to leave everything in great shape. Overall, we felt the quality and value was excellent and would use this company again.

Overall, the experience was very good. They had great reviews on Angie’s List. It was hard to connect with them at times, but the work was done during the holidays, so I understand it was a very busy time. They did a good job and they cleaned up very nicely, too!

After some confusion, not coming at the appointment time, Jerry did make an effort to make up the problems and did so by offering free painting. I thought this was quite a decent thing to do. He does make the effort to satisfy the customer. And the work done was well done. I intend to use him again in the future for larger projects. He seems to be the kind of person who wears his heart on his sleeve. I would recommend him.

Jerry was willing to work with me to accommodate a date for the painting. Pinters arrived on time and were very professional. They worked very hard to get the job finished on time. They were good about covering the furniture left in the room. Room looks great. I will use them again.

We were very pleased with the company. The owner talked with us at length about what we wanted, and checked on his crew during the job. The painters were very skilled, and the carpentry work was done particularly well. When we had one small issue with one aspect of the work, the owner and the head of the crew came back immediately and fixed it. We found the company to be very responsive, very pleasant, and very professional. This was actually our second time working with them, and we hope to work with them again in the future. They are very busy, as good businesses tend to be, so expect to have to wait a few weeks for your job to begin.

He has not shown up or called me back. This is very unprofessional.

People from S&J contacted me several times to schedule the work. They arrived early for the appointment and worked a full day to get the work done. Worker was professional and very neat especially considering he was doing drywall repair work.
