S & J Painting & Remodeling

The team of 3 arrived on time and had the old units disconnected and removed within the hour. Then they had to wait an hour for the new units to be delivered. I didn't mind too much but I don't think they were real happy. The install took approximately 5.5 hours. The guys were very professional and nice to be around. They took great care in covering the floors prior to the work beginning and cleaned up after they left. James tested the AC and the heat and explained everything to me. The entire team was very professional and hard working. I would definitely do business with AJR in the future!

The repair area was small but it was part of a ceiling soffit. It took 2 days and the repair looks perfect. The repair included painting as well.

The job was successfully completed in a timely manner, which was good because I needed a quick completion as my oldest daughter was returning to the house to live with us for a period of time and I needed an additional room to use as a bedroom. Also the job was done for a reasonable price and they did repair some holes in the existing drywall at no additional cost. However, there were a few things that could have been done better to make the experience an "A" rating. First off, I had to purchase the door and transport it to the house, myself. Then, in the process of installing the door, they split the molding in a couple of places because they did not predrill the holes where they were going to nail the door frame in place. Next, the archway into which the door was installed was centered on the room which the door was going to enclose, but to make the installation easier they built out the wall on one side rather than both so that the door is not centered on the wall of the new room. Finally, while they did repair some holes in the drywall, they left the drywall mud rough and unsanded, which had to be accomplished before we could repaint. Granted, these are minor items in the grand scheme of things, but that is why I didn't give them an "A" rating.

Very good--the painters did a great job and the house looks great.

After spending at least two hours reviewing companies on Angie's List and Yelp, I used the contact form on S&Js website to request a no cost estimate for our wall paper removal job. Jerry Dix got in touch with me the very next day. He came out the same week, examined the rooms and gave me what I felt was a reasonable price. He would have liked to schedule my job right away, but with my hectic schedule, I had to put it off for a couple weeks. He was very good about staying in touch and reminding me of what I had scheduled. It was a two day job and his guy arrived promptly at the requested time, and got straight to work both days. He was very professional, hardworking, and friendly. After it was all done, there was little evidence that such a mess had been made. We are finally getting around to painting the rooms this upcoming week. I would absolutely recommend S & J Painting and Remodeling and already plan on getting more estimates for other projects we need done.

The gentleman arrived on time....and after going over the listing of items with him....he was able to start working on several projects in the priority order I had requested. When there were decisions to be made, we went over the pros and cons and the work was subsequently accomplished based upon my wishes. He was able to accomplish things in a day that it would have taken me months to complete....and done correctly the first time. Highly recommend the service provided by this company.

I had set up an appointment for an estimate. On the day of the appointment, I was advised that the man who was to provide the estimate was sick and couldn't make it. They were to call me back to reschedule. They never did.

They were quick and efficient. They did a great job.

My experience with S&J Painting and Remodeling went well. Their quality of work was really good. I'd say getting it scheduled was a little annoying. There's some back and forth between the guy and my husband where he didn't seem to know about the deal at first. Then, he found it and didn't come back a couple of times. Once it was scheduled, they showed up on time and they got everything done quickly. It was really good quality.

I emailed many companies on Angie's List to get a quote for the work, but S&J was one of only 3 that responded to the initial email. They were 1 of 2 that actually completed the quote. Our original quote was given several months prior to the work being done and they still honored the original price. We also added work onto the project at the last minute (moving the outlets) and they were professional and graceful about accommodating that. Bob was on time, friendly, did good work, then cleaned up before leaving. He also answered a lot of questions. We are DIYers who are always looking for a brain to pick, and he was great about answering a bunch of questions we had about other aspects of the project. The only reason I didn't give an A for responsiveness is that we had a bit of a communication delay when we figured out that a we wanted a little more work done. In the end, it came out that Bob had a family emergency that week and had been out of town which is, of course, understandable. I do think, though, that there might be a better system in place for dealing with these sorts of contingencies so it doesn't put so much pressure on one individual in the business.

The project manager (Jonathan) was very responsive to address questions and change orders to the contract. The team consisted of three painters (Jonathan, Marvin and Henry). They were very professional , neat and cleaned up each day. They were here for about five full days for two painters and two full days for the third painter. We were very pleased with the results and would use S & J again.

Great! Steve and his crew were the best. I really felt like they had my best interests at heart and were not trying to just make a profit. I had ordered the wrong size toilet and Steve took it upon himself to correct my mistake and make sure he found one what would work and would not be expensive. (He went to several places to find one and wound up finding two!). I can''t wait to have them do more work in my house. Thanks for great job!

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I'm not too pleased. The vinyl stuff is not staying up. He worked really hard to try to get me a schedule so that was nice and the person who actually did the work was very helpful. I was kinda bummed that he couldn't do the faucet. If only I had the time, I probably wouldn't have spent this much.

Did a great job. Very quick. Work was solid. Pleasure to deal with.

I really like this company. Most of the work was handyman stuff and I'm so thankful for Bob and his commitment to the projects. Despite my best efforts I can't reach Bob anymore but Bob if you ever read this...THANK YOU.

I never used the service and had to get a refund. The company started adding costs. Suddenly there is more cost involved for height, for it being exterior, and they claim insurance reasons. If one paints for a living, one would understand the labor involved. I needed 2 shutters, a bay window (window which is mostly window), and a door that needed painting - not a lot of work. I think 4-6 hours at the most. What most ads don't say is: if they leave the ground the cost is more. I haven't been able to find a painter.

Crew was very professional and extremely punctual. Alex and Dustin are meticulous and repaired a significant number of drywall dings, nail pops and other imperfections. The cleanup after each day was thorough. I am very pleased and would definitely hire S & J again.

Jerry Dix was prompt with the estimate, and the price was good. There was a bit of confusion about the start of the job, and I was not told in advance when they would start. Jonathan and his crew did an excellent job overall on the painting, including the three-color treatment on the porch columns. Clean-up was average (still picking up bits of tape and paint chips), but overall I was satisfied with the project.

Not very responsive; took several calls to get an estimate. Work dragged on for a while since the people were assigned to other jobs. Painting and finishing walls was top quality but the bathroom work was not well done -- had to call him back to finish the work back to standard. Everyone was courteous and professional and the price was reasonable.

The quote was the lowest of all that I received by a significant amount and we didn't have to sacrifice quality. The office space is beautiful. Unfortunately my husband and I were out of town when the project was being completed so I can't really speak to some of the questions on here first hand, but my mom who was house-sitting for us and providing a set of eyes for us while we were across the country had nothing but good things to say about Stephen and his crew in terms of professionalism and punctuality. They did a really fantastic job and we will definitely be using them again.

We asked for estimates from several companies. S&J was responsive to our queries, prompt in presenting the estimate, courteous, and followed up with us appropriately without being intrusive. The estimate given was quite close to the others. We chose another company, but only because of the time to complete. If not for our very short time to work within, we would have chosen S&J for the reasons above. We will definitely consider S&J again for any future work.

They are very good and reasonably priced. We got a couple of quotes and they had a really good price.

Was called by Mr. Dix day after big deal coupon was purchased. Set appointment and at his request, emailed details of the areas to be worked on. On the confirmation call the day before, Mr Dix stated they might not be able to do all areas on the list, but the painter would assess the areas and then discuss the work that could be completed under the 8 hours purchased, and put work in my priority order. Jose assessed, discussed amount of additional time that would be needed to do the job properly. When I spoke then with Mr Dix, he quoted a price for the 2 additional days that was close to the cost of the big deal cost for each day, so we contracted to add those days to complete the work needed. The 2 painters covered what couldn't be moved out of each room, worked quickly and efficiently, came on time and cleaned up after themselves each day. The walls and ceilings look great - the areas they had to scrape and feather are well blended so they can't be seen anymore.
