Innovative Home Improvements, owned by Paul Harrison, was communicative, fast, zero-pressure, extremely fair priced (honestly the lowest we found), and above all - HONEST. If you need windows or siding in the Baltimore/DC area, I couldn't recommend them more. I wish that I could use them for all home improvement projects - Paul and his team are simply fantastic - Hire them. One of the most important things to me when it comes to customer service is how a mistake is dealt with. Mistakes happen sometimes - it's how someone deals with a mistake that you can often see the true character and ability of a company or person. Paul and his team raised the bar. During installation they realized that two windows were the wrong size, and had already rush ordered the correct windows and had a plan in place to deal with it before alerting me. Truthfully, the windows were so close in size that I probably wouldn't have even caught it - they could have covered it up, which very often happens - but it was obvious that never crossed their mind. After dealing with a horrible contractor about 2 years ago who tried to hide every mistake or tell me that I was in the wrong, Paul's approach was an incredible breath of fresh air. His team was on-time, friendly, efficient. Hire them.

Paul was fantastic to work with from the start. He listened to what I wanted and even worked with our insurance company. Paul's crew was great. The job took about a week and a half. I found very few nails on the ground afterward (which surprised me since they had to remove all the old siding). There was one small change I asked for after the fact, and Paul got it done immediately without complaint. I would highly recommend Innovative Home Improvements, and I fully intend on using them when I have my windows replaced (someday).

Every step of the process was excellent. Paul came to our house and showed us the window options. It was not an issue to have gridded windows to comply with our HOA rules and he gave us his cost estimate with no pressure to make a decision. Paul was a pleasure to work with - we were very comfortable his personable, low-key style. The cost was reasonable - low end of some modest comparison shopping. Scheduling was smooth and the installation was conducted on the planned day. The installation was awesome with absolutely perfect alignment and caulking. Clean-up and removal of old windows was great and Paul performed his own final inspection. Now for the windows: no air leaks, no mechanical issues whatsoever - the windows are excellent. I highly recommend Innovative Home Improvement for window replacement.

Innovative Home Improvements was very helpful in preparing for the installation. Due to some difficulties with our home owner association, we were forced to make some very last minute changes to the installation method. IHI was EXTREMELY helpful in this process. Paul communicated with the HOA's contractor to work out a solution and was very patient and helpful during this trying process. In the end, we have new, lovely windows and greatly appreciate IHI's efforts to get them installed.

siding, replacement windows

Our decision to purchase windows and siding began nearly 3 years ago. Ever since we moved into our home, it has been a challenge to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature. The installation of an additional HVAC system and ceiling fans throughout the home could never provide an affordable and efficient remedy to the leaky windows and poorly installed siding. Knowing that replacing over 20 windows would be a major expense, we decided early on that it made more sense to have a slightly higher monthly gas & electric bill by running our heating systems longer and harder as opposed to making this very large and one-time expenditure. As the months turned into years, our utility bills continued to reflect a house that was not only inefficient for its size and numbers of users, but one that also outpaced usage among our neighbors. Being that we were the only home in the neighborhood that had an additional HVAC system, I really began to question the validity of these energy reports my utility company was providing month after month. Do they have the right neighborhood? If homes in our neighborhood are anything like ours was before we made the improvements, then they would most certainly be spending more money then us to stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer. In addition, to the persistent breeze originating from each window, cool air could also be felt seeping through the interior walls due to the home?s lack of any wrap/insulation between the siding and the home?s wood exterior. To solidify its reputation as the Most Porous House in the Neighborhood, our home seemed to welcome into our very own living room every neighborhood noise ? cars, planes, lawnmowers, children playing, etc. The breaking point finally came this past spring when BWI decided to reroute air traffic as the airport underwent major renovations that lasted the entire summer and with even more work scheduled for next year. This new air traffic pattern was so loud that I thought my house was located in the middle of a runway. On the weekends, planes could be heard flying over our home every 3-5 minutes beginning at 6:00am and lasting until 11:00pm. At this point, I knew a change had to be made and yet I dreaded the whole window shopping process. Over the years we have opened our home to many vendors whose pressure to make the sale often resulted in the entire family being held hostage for several hours. Fortunately, we had also met with a neighbor of ours, Paul Harrison, President of Innovative Home Improvements (IHI), whose company specializes in replacement windows and siding. He came to our home, explained the various types of windows, and worked with the vendor to come up with a very competitive quote for replacing the windows. Throughout the meeting, we never felt pressured or minimized in expressing any of our concerns or questions about the product. Unfortunately, back in 2013 we decided that there were other expenses that were of a higher priority and so we postponed any purchase of windows. At that time, we told Paul that when we decide to purchase windows we would be going with his company. Now this is easier said then done. To make such a declaration one must be mindful of neighborhood dynamics. How could I ever entertain other windows companies coming into our home? Would I have to slip out the back door to avoid making any kind of contact? What if I get the work done and am not happy with the results? All of these questions would have surfaced should I have gone with any of the other companies who had come into our home; however, as a testament to the professionalism, courtesy, and respect that Paul showed us during our initial meeting, as well as, over the years, I knew I could firmly commit to him and his company at some point in the future. Well, this past fall we followed through with our promise and contacted Paul to let him know that we were ready to explore our window options. Furthermore, we decided that it would also make sense to replace our siding which had been improperly installed. When we met with Paul, he recommended a window that was vastly superior to the one we had previously considered. The price quoted for this high quality window with the inclusion of additional window options/features was very close to what we had originally received several years ago. Moving on to siding and the options that were available, it quickly became apparent that the highest quality option offered the most value as the price margins narrow between each option. However, all you have to do is take one look at the 1 ½? vinyl and styrofoam infused sample to realize that there is nothing out there on the market that can rival this product. Unlike traditional vinyl siding that can be cut with a pair of snips, a circular saw is required to modify the dimensions of this siding option. Once the green light was given to go ahead and order the materials and begin installation we anticipated that the project would be completed towards the end of November. Unfortunately, the project was not completed until the end of January. While most people would be extremely upset to see a project fall so far behind schedule, I am grateful for many of these delays. Those delays caused by extreme weather conditions are clearly beyond anyone?s control. However, those delays that were due to correcting builder? errors in poor workmanship really made me appreciate even more my decision to contract with Paul and IHI. Throughout the installation process, IHI discovered many builder shortcuts which forced IHI to adjust their installation process. Instead of being systematic and efficient in the installation process, IHI was forced into a random and defensive posture to either correct or prevent any interior or structural damage resulting from someone else?s work. As far as those delays caused by extreme weather conditions, I can honestly say that a completion date that extended into February was certainly plausible as there were many days where I was surprised that work was being done under some very harsh temperatures and weather conditions. Again, considering the situation we found ourselves in, I cannot think of a company that I would align myself with that is more equipped to identify and handle the unexpected like Innovative Home Improvements. As soon as the installation was completed, the compliments started pouring in almost immediately. Neighbors keep telling us how nice our home looks and how it really stands out from others on the street. Going into this project we wanted to reduce our energy costs, minimize outside noise, and most importantly feel comfortable in our home. So far, I would say we have reached all of these goals as we are projected to see a healthy cost savings in both our gas and electric usage. In fact, since we had the windows installed the second HVAC has not been turned on for two months!!! Noise has been reduced, but not eliminated. In all fairness, I was quite skeptical to think this would have been even possible based on our location and the amount traffic in the area. I will say that I no longer feel like every neighborhood conversation is taking place in my living room. The two most important takeaways from this project for me are the following: 1. The decision to purchase windows should be made on the notion of comfort vs. cost savings. Time after time I have been told that the windows will pay for themselves. Well, I am fairly young and while I am very happy with the price that was given to me for this project, I am not under false illusion that these 23 windows will pay for themselves any time soon. However, I can honestly say that I have never felt more comfortable in my home than how I have felt these past two months. Being able to go up to any window and not feel some amount of cold air is something we have never experienced in our home. The quality of these windows far exceeds any window that is currently being used in any new construction. Considering that the variance in temperature among the floors of our home was so great that we installed another HVAC system almost 15 years ago into our fairly new home. Now consider the resounding impact of these new windows. Over these past two months with the HVAC system off, there is a mere 1 ? 2 degree difference in temperature between the two floors. 2. Choosing the right company. Like most people out there who seek out companies or contractors to do their work, we wanted to find someone we can trust and who will listen to our needs and come up with a solution that makes sense. Furthermore, I would want to do business with someone who looks out for my interests and recognizes a potential problem and is willing to address it versus turning a blind eye. Finally, when I sat down to write this review, I honestly say that I did not know what I could add to the many positive comments from satisfied customers. After much deliberation, I realized that I didn?t need to provide any potential customer with some unique fact or detail about my wonderful experience working with Paul and Innovative Home Improvements. Instead, what should be evident to anyone that reads this review or any sample of these reviews is a level of consistency that Paul and his company display on a daily basis ? an honest commitment to excellence by providing their customers with trusted advice and value added solutions.

The windows are gorgeous. A very professional job and everything delivered as promised. I was a little reluctant because I was unfamiliar with this brand but they appear very well made and come with a lifetime guarantee. I went with this company based on high ratings in Angies List and they were right on. Paul Harrison is the owner and he worked with me directly. He had two competent people do the installation but he stayed in touch through the whole job and reviewed the final product. I am particularly happy with the garden bay window in my kitchen. This one was pretty pricey but is awesome. They did a beautiful job reframing it, and it is really a centerpiece in my kitchen now. Overall, Paul gave me a good competitive price and was worth every penny. I definitely recommend this company. A very pleasant experience.

Paul Harrison is a genuine and an experienced contractor. In late 2010, I was getting quotes for replacement windows and was exasperated by some of the salespeople. But there was no hard sell or product upgrades with Paul. In fact, he was very honest and refused to sell me something that I just didn't need. He will first try to understand your needs and make recommendations to fit your budget. Paul was prompt in answering my questions and easy to work with from start to finish. His crew was fast and efficient, and installed four windows in about two hours. When Paul inspected my windows after they were installed, he found a small hole in the screen and immediately order a replacement screen (without me even asking). It has now been nearly four years since I purchased my windows from Innovative Home Improvements and I am still one very pleased customer. Since 2010, I have called Paul a few times with general maintenance and mishap questions. He is always responsive and will help diagnosis problems over the phone and has even stopped by my home to make minor adjustments when needed. I would highly recommend Home Innovative Improvements - not just for the fabulous windows with a lifetime warranty - but because Paul excels in the customer service department!

Paul (the owner) was great. The inner side of the two panes of glass in my sliding glass door randomly shattered but was still in place (hadn't fallen out) -- after looking through Angie's list I decided to call him for an estimate. I think he said he could come by the next day -- but then 20 minutes later he called me back and said due to the situation that the glass could fall out at any time, he felt he should come by that day to look at it and give an estimate. And he did -- with duct tape in hand to see if he could help prevent it from falling down. He explained that a replacement door was unfortunately going to cost significantly more because the door was 8 ft wide and required Columbia's brown color on the outside. He gave me the quote, some information on the product he uses, and his card and told me to call when I was ready. I got two additional quotes before calling Paul back. One was by a guy who kept pushing me to sign the contract that night in order to get this great deal that I could only get by signing right then. It took awhile to actually get the door from the manufacturer because I waited too long to call and tell him to order it -- the had manufacturer closed down for the holidays. But when it came in, Paul called and we schedule the installation. Two of his guys were actually early, got everything started and finished the installation with no issues. Paul called me while they were there and came by when he was able to later that day to check the work and make sure I was satisfied. He called me again a week or so later to check up and see if I had any questions or problems. Issues: The wait to get the door and have it installed was rather long (especially since the glass could fall at any time) but that was just due to poor timing and the time it took me to decide. The only other issue was that a few weeks later when it was finally warm enough with no snow to go out and really look at it, I found pieces of broken glass on the ground outside -- I didn't watch them take out the broken door but it seemed like they tried to contain most of the pieces from when the shattered pane of glass came out. However, there were still pieces, both big and small, that I'm having to pick up or do something about in the grass right outside the door. It's annoying but not such a big deal to me. Overall: Going with Innovative Home Improvement (Paul Harrison) did cost more than the others -- possibly significantly more but I also got a high quality product. And I'm not sure if the other quotes included EVERYTHING or if there would have been additional things like instillation added on (unlike Paul's quote). I really liked that it's a small company and Paul does great customer service with no pressure sales. He's the one you talk to, he's the one that came for the estimate and he's the one who came by to make sure the installation went well. He's easy to get a hold of and calls a week or so after the work is finished to check up and answer any questions. I think that's rare these days. I later called him for a rough estimate on replacing my other sliding glass door which has really bad drafts... it's on my list of things to get done, but it will have to wait until I can afford it.

Work was completed as scheduled. Mike and his crew did an excellent job with repairing my windows/sliding glass door installation -- initial installation from company in Annapolis, MD was unacceptable (will update this review and name company that initially installed the windows once my dispute with this company is settled -- I'll also update review with before and after photographs). My condo unit was left spotless -- my tenant was surprised when she came home and found the unit to be clean with no debris anywhere. Paul Harrison of Innovative Home Improvements of Elkridge, MD is an honest businessman, and he has the best crew in the area. I will continue to use this company for my future home improvements. My unit is currently rented -- I will be posting before and after photographs soon.
Description of Work: Innovative Home Improvements of Elkridge, MD (do not confuse with Innovative Home Improvement of Bowie, MD - different company). I had new window/sliding glass door installation from a company in Annapolis, MD. The work this company did was unacceptable and they left me with a huge mess. The work was so bad, I refused to let them come and do the repairs. I was referred to Innovative Home Improvements of Elkridge, MD ('IHI"). The owner of IHI came and evaluated what repairs needed to be made, was polite, and clear about the work. IHI sent Mike and his crew to my condo -- they removed existing metal cap from interior windows and sliding glass doors; removed existing calk from windows and sliding glass door; removed metal pans from windows, they framed interior windows and sliding glass door with 1x6 wood, furnished and installed clam shell trim casing for windows and sliding glass doors; caulked windows and sliding glass doors; recapped windows and sliding glass door (exteror); cleaned up and carted away work related waste. My condo was left clean, no mess whatsoever. The owner of the company, Paul Harrison, did everything possible to repair my window/sliding glass door and the results were beautiful and the process seamless. Innovative Home Improvements of Elkridge, MD is a Customer Service Oriented Company --best customer service I've received from any business.

Innovative Home Improvement's staff is very professional, courteous, & prompt. While their prices aren't the cheapest out there, the service & quality of product they offer make the small extra expense well worth it. In fact, with the level of service I received, I'd expect to pay much more. The windows & door are gorgeous & the workmanship of the installation really shows. I was originally going to replace 2 sliding glass doors, but they informed me that one is not in need of replacement instead of going for a cash grab. Such honesty! I am beyond happy with my experience with Innovative Home Improvements & will definitely use them again & recommend them to friends!

Choosing new windows is a time-consuming and complicated process, especially for people who have never done it before. Some companies are high pressure, others give misleading information, still others pretend to give you a good deal when it really isn't. Paul and his company were just the opposite. From the moment he came to our home to explain the options and give us a demonstration, we felt he was sincere, honest and not high pressure at all. Although price wasn't the sole determining factor for us, Paul's bid was well below the others. Our old windows were very difficult to remove, but the two-man crew did an expert job of taking them out and installing the new ones, which look great and are far quieter and more efficient. Many times during the process, Paul would call to consult or make sure we were happy with the way things were going. It's readily apparent that he cares about his customers, not just about making a sale. We highly recommend him and his company to anyone wanting to replace windows.

Exceptional! Paul was very; responsive, professional and proactive. I phoned him early in the week and within a couple days he had completed the work including cleaning up the old siding that was laying in the yard! He is an A++ contractor. This was a very small job that most contractors wouldn't bother to take (less than 50 square feet of siding). Paul gladly took the job and his work was superb. Couldn't ask for better service! Thank you!

Paul and his team are first class all the way. I live in a condo and there are special requirements for replacing windows, Paul did the necessary research to ensure that the replacement windows were in compliance with the condo requirements. Paul was quick to respond always, did not rush me through the process, answered all of my questions and eduated me along the way! There was no pressure to purchase and Paul made certain I was comfortable before finalizing my purchase. For the installation, Paul's team was fantastic - they were punctual and professional and took the time to review everything with me when they finished. They were also well prepared for anything - in the middle of the install, we had an unexpected rain storm and they simply worked with it, put up tarps where necessary and protected the exposed areas perfectly. These guys were great to work with. They are professional and punctual. They were also very clean. Each afternoon they took time to clean up around my yard, although they were coming back the next day...and I appreciated that. No nails or anything left in my driveway to get a flat tire. I was pleased with the work. I had one minor incident after a major storm and it was corrected within a day after bringing it to their attention. They were very responsive. Paul has guaranteed to stand behind his work, so I have no worries in the furture. I highly recommend this company v

Response from Innovative Home Improvement
The member was very surprised by our honesty. She originally called about gutters. The gutters were in great shape, but the last contractor tried to hard sell her on the gutters..When it was time to do her windows she called us first. She was thrilled by the whole process.

I was very happy with their service. I received three separate bids for the work, and theirs was in the middle. I think they were accommodating, and incredibly easy to work with. Also, they helped me obtain an energy tax credit, which I really appreciated.

Overall, I’ve been very happy with their work. I think they are an extremely ethical company, and they really stand behind their products. I would absolutely give them my recommendation.
Description of Work: They installed new windows for me several years ago, and replaced a French door with sliding glass doors a few years after that.
