Wonderful experience with DJ Floors with regards to an estimate. They came out within 24 hours to do a free estimate to refinish approx. 850 SQ FT of hardwood floors in my home. I decided to go with another company but was pleased with the level of customer service I received. The only recommendation I would make is for the administrative staff to pay better attention to detail. I'd asked a few questions (via Angie's list communication/email) which were completely overlooked and never got a response (e.g. how soon the work could be started and how long the floors would take to dry). No complaints other than that small detail.

Great. no complaints. The installers were on time, moved the furniture and installed the work. They were very professional.

The guys went above and beyond! Super clean and friendly! Did an amazing job. Even used some of the more colored (darker) pieces of wood that always come in the boxes of floors in places that it wouldn't be seen that much (the closets).

They do much more more than just floors! We had a terrific experience using DJ Floors for our kitchen and bathroom renovation. They were completely professional and reliable, and really went above and beyond to make sure the project came out beautifully. Prices were very fair for the top-notch quality of the work. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Kitchen: DJ PERFECTLY matched our existing oak floors and replaced our 1960's linoleum kitchen flooring with beautiful new hardwood. The transition is completely seamless and better than I ever could have hoped, especially given the fact that our existing hardwood is old and has unusual patterns. DJ's crew also completed the demolition of our old kitchen (removal of all cabinets, appliances, demo of a wall, etc), and refinished all the hardwood on our second floor. His tile installer also did a beautiful job installing the kitchen backsplash. Bathroom: We had DJ do everything except plumbing and electrical - (difficult) demo, floor tiling and floor-to-cieling wall tiling, installation of vanity, shower doors and fixtures, inset medicine cabinet, etc. We have a quirky old house with uneven walls and irregular angles, which was made worse by the fact that we were using big, 12"x36" wall tiles from Porcelanosa and thin grout lines. Their installer was absolutely outstanding (he does the installations for the Porcelanosa showroom!). It was a difficult job and he got every detail right. Now all the lines are straight and the angles are square. He took his time and made sure we ended up with a perfect finished result. Everyone at DJ Floors was a pleasure to work with. DJ was extremely accommodating to all our requests and completed all the work exactly as promised on budget. All their people worked hard and we felt completely comfortable leaving them alone in our house. Highly recommend!

They did an excellent job with the tile installation. They started the job right away and gave us a very reasonable installation price. They arrived promptly each morning at 8am and worked until 5pm each day. We were surprised at first that more work had not been done by the end of day 1; however, it was because they were taking great pains to line up the tile exactly right, which was a big job (our basement walls and floor are uneven and there were several pipes they had to work around). Very pleased with the results. Also, the staff that answers phones is professional and responsive. Would use them again.

DJ Floors provide me with an estimate for refinishing a floor with detail of work plan and time of delivery. Many others ignore my request and it is great to have companies interested in satisfying customer's request regardless of the size of the Job. Thank you DJ...Gabriel

I can't say enough good things about them.There was a bit of a mixup about the scheduling( my fault) but to remedy the situation they worked all day Sunday ,continuing on Monday and finishing late Tuesday afternoon.They were, down to the last man ,courteous,respectful and friendly.The quality of the work is amazing.And they left my house so clean which was a pleasant surprise.Before ,I had heard horror stories about what a mess this kind of work creates but I swear my house was cleaner after they finished. An excellent company!

Amazing crew. From the office to the workers, they do it all. It took less time to finish the work then estimated. I was inform of all the issue and how they were going to be resolve. Will recommend them to everyone.

I cannot say enough about the level of professionalism and attention to detail of the two crews who worked in our home. The floors came out beautifully. Along the way, both the tile and hardwood flooring teams ran into some challenges which they carefully thought through and consulted with us along the way. The years of experience of both crews was very apparent as they came up with some creative and workable solutions to these challenges, for example rebuilding the landing at the base of the stairs and creating seamless threshold between rooms from tile to wood and cutting tile in very inconspicuous / unnoticeable ways. Although the project was supposed to be completed in two stages, tile first, then hardwood, it turned out that both crews worked in the house at the same time. They managed to make it work without too much hassle. I'm glad we paid the extra $350 to have them move the heavy furniture - well worth the extra cash. They were very careful with the furniture. The project lasted two weeks. The crews were very careful to seal off the rest of the house each day. They also did a thorough clean up after each day. Expecting a huge mess of dust and debris, we were pleasantly surprised to find that upon completion of the project there was only a little fine cleaning that needed to be done. Throughout the project the office staff made themselves available for calls and came out to the house when requested to discuss some deviations from the original plan. It's always a bit unsettling to have strangers in your own while you are out. However, never, at any time, was I anxious or nervous about this. The crews were extremely friendly, trustworthy and conscientious. Even our neighbors commented on how professional the crews were when it came to parking, removal of trash, etc. The guys working on the project really understood the concept of customer service. They also clearly believed in and took pride in their work and gave us pointers on how to care for both types of flooring - tips they had learned over the years. I was home a couple of the days they were working and I was mesmerized by the teamwork that I witnessed. I would have DJ Floors handle any project in the future. .

They were professional, prompt, courteous, experienced and knowledgeable. My floors are holding up good since they put them in.

The job went well for the most part. It took longer than estimated, and I had to have the crew return to fix a few things that were not done properly, but for the size of the job, it went well. My main complaint was that the specific flooring we were interested in was discontinued by their supplier, and DJ Floors said that the supplier did not give them enough notice of this. It wouldn't really have been a problem, but in my price range, I was not able to find another suitable flooring. Unfortunately, the engineered wood that we ended up going with doesn't look good. DJ Floors was very willing to meet with us on a couple Sundays to go over all our options in their store. They were generally easy to work with, and most importantly, they listened to what we wanted and tried to help us make sure the project fit our budget. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for a flooring contractor.

Magnus ensured that the workers delivered on the vision we communicated to him when he first gave us an estimate. The job was actually quite a bit more complex than it sounds because it required removal of some of the existing floor boards in order to create a seamless flow pattern from the kitchen into the family room. The team was able to tie it in perfectly and worked form 9 AM to nearly 6:30 PM to ensure it was done as we conveyed to Magnus. They protected all of our existing furniture, wrapped cords, swept up and mopped the area, and left it as if it were a brand new house. All in all a great job and we are extremely happy with the results.

DJ Floors did a fabulous job -- we couldn't be more pleased with the results! Reading many reviews on Angie's List, I noticed a common theme where the owner learned to their dismay only when the job was actually being started that the workers could only sand off the old varnish, not removing defects which had gotten into the wood itself. I figured these were the new "engineered floors" which are only a veneer; my home has much older floors, solid wood. But it turns out that my floors are old enough not to be tongue and groove: each plank is nailed into the joist below. These nails prevent sanding into the wood. Obvious to someone in the business, one assumes. But of three Angie's-recommended contractors, only DJ was honest: "screen sanding" would remove the old varnish but not sand into the wood. Fortunately I like antiques and don't mind that the floors still have "character." Old water stains near the windows were minimized and wear patterns much less obvious. The oil-based varnish DJ applied has a beautiful honey color and and even, soft finish. DJ's professionalism was evident from his initial measurements, taken with a fast and accurate laser-sonar meter. (The first contractor had used a tape measure; the other only paced off the rooms!) The crew and staff were punctual, took great care to protect curtains and contain the dust (which was minimal), and answered all my questions promptly and respectfully. DJ Floors is a class act, and we intend to use them to retile the bathroom!

They did a great job. I found them on Angie's List. We looked at 2 other providers. DJ Floors was the most expensive, but when the estimator arrived, he was the most informative and professional. He was the only provider who detailed how the company would protect all of our curtains and fixtures. When they began work, they covered everything with plastic and folded up our curtains neatly. I say neatly because our painters tied our curtains into big knots. DJ floors kept the folds of the curtains and folded them up. Each day they came (it took five days), one of the workers would explain what was to be completed that day. He was patient in answering my questions and very informative. When I left in the morning for work, the foreman would communicate with me through email if there were any issues (there was a stain that couldn't be sanded away). If any questions popped up, I would send an email and the foreman would respond quickly. In the end, my husband and I were very pleased with the results.

Most of the installation went okay. There was one tile that was not set right and they were nice enough to reinstall it but in the process of reinstalling it the very slightly damaged some surrounding tiles and the tile was not set right still was not perfectly set right on the 2nd try. I really think that it could be set right but maybe they did not have an expert tiler at hand. In the bathroom there were a couple of issues. The first issue was that there was at least one or two tiles that were not set flush and I am thinking of resetting those tiles. Second issue was that they did not measure or think of measuring the total tile height in the shower area as there was maybe 1/4 of inch gap at the ceiling where we needed to fill in with extra tiles. If they had discussed this issue with me beforehand we could have gotten metal spacers so that shower space would not look odd at the ceiling with 1/4 inch of tile at the top of the shower. Third issue is that they really messed up the installation of the tile on one side of the room where the tile and metal trim where not at all flush with the drywall leading to a bit of extra work needed to be done to the drywall (or reinstall the tiles and metal trim). I initially talked to the contractor about this but did not get very far. This is the main reason why I would not use this contractor again. The fourth issue was that in the closet area some of the workers dissuaded me from installing tiles on one side of the closet by telling me that I really did not need to install any time on one side of the closet because it would not be seen. Well now I see that I do need either trim or tile installed there because one doesn't want to have something completely unfinished at base of the wall. Didn't realize that until recently. So, there were several issues here but not all the work was bad. In the main room the tile installation looks good.

We just completed a kitchen renovation through Home Depot in Falls Church. We worked with the HD designer, Mary Beth, who helped us choose the cabinets and designed the floor plan. The installation was done by Counter Intelligence with the assistance of DJ Floors. It involved demolition, new flooring for the entire first floor of the house, plumbing relocation, electrical relocation and upgrades, tile, cabinetry installation, re-location and installation of appliances, countertops, venting and installation of a range hood. Any kitchen renovation is extremely disruptive. However, now that the job is complete, we are extremely happy that we took on this project and that we used the Home Depot team with Counter Intelligence to complete it. The initial measurements and labor proposal was done by Joe Zouine from Counter Intelligence. This is by far the most important step in the project. He was extremely careful, and he made excellent suggestions for solutions to some of the problems that we had with our existing kitchen. The result was that everything fit nicely as planned and there were no surprises with unexpected costs. ? In other words, his measurements and cost estimate were right-on-target accurate. George Carrillo was our site manager. He was professional, personable, skilled in all aspects of the project, and an excellent communicator. We always knew the status of our project and what to expect next. We had a drop-dead deadline, which we communicated to George on the first day. Part of the time, my husband and I were out of the country. George made sure everything progressed and kept us updated while we were away. He even brought in our mail while we were gone. Our deadline was met, and we signed off on the project with no unsolved problems or issues. Basically, we were very satisfied with the design, with the quality of the materials, with the estimates and with the work that was done. Everything was left as clean and neat as possible at the end of the day. We had the same experts in our home from the beginning to the end. Each skilled professional who worked on the project was gracious, experienced, punctual, and a true craftsman who is proud of his work. What also impressed us immensely was the management style we observed. George from CI and DJ from DJ Floors managed the schedules and the work plans of everyone who worked on the project. They both treated the workers with great respect, with patience and with professionalism. Thus the energy in our home during the project was focused, collegial and positive. It definitely helped us get through the disruption and added to the enjoyment of an exceptional finished product.

The work was done on time, very professionally, the workers respected our house and contents and the floors look beautiful! IF highly recommend DJ Floors.

The demo job was very demanding as our old floor was not installed correctly and was very difficult to get up. The workers totally protected our house from the dust and debris. The installers were exacting and professional. When the backsplash was being grouted we noticed that the color was not what we expected (our fault since we picked the color). The job was half done but the installers stayed past their quitting time to remove the still wet grout, and come back the next day to install new grout. They were always punctual and courteous.

The guys were timely and friendly. We purchased the floors ourselves and upon inspecting them, the guys realized we had bought a different grade of hardwood, which was not going to match the ones we already had in our house. They made arrangements to deliver the boards back to the store and pick up the right kind we should've gotten. We agreed on a new date and once again they arrived on time and ready to work. They also removed a railing. Our floor looks great.

Purchased BIG DEAL and was told that they do not service my area. They could at least have provided a service area on the coupon page. I wasted a bunch of time getting my money back.

From start to finish they did amazing. I was dreading the process but everyone from the office to on site workers were very friendly and did an exceptional job keeping everything clean. We had a small leak during the process but they fixed it without any questions. I will definitely use them again when we are ready for some additional work.

The owner responded promptly to my request for a quote, came out to the house, and quickly produced a quote for a reasonable price. I went with another company because (a) DJ Floors would use water-based polyurethane and it is my understanding that oil-based is sturdier (I need it to wear well in a house full of cats), (b) I would have had to go buy the tile and grout for the foyer myself, and (c) the company I ended up using gave me oil-based, provided the tile, and had some creative alternate ideas I hadn't considered. It is hard to compare prices, since the cost of the tile and grout are not included in the quote, but I think the costs would have been roughly the same. I found DJ Floors to be very professional and would definitely consider using them in the future.

Started on time. Very careful in covering everything with plastic to protect from dust. Made sure stain color was correct before doing the entire area. Everything went as promised.

Chose DJ Floors in part because of excellent reviews on Angie's List. Our experience was very different. Communication was difficult, crews often didn't arrive at promised times, crew members were inconsistent from day to day. Raised several concerns about communication and timeliness during the job, but situation did not improve. Work took significantly longer than expected (1 month from start to completion, expected 5-7 workdays) grout on much of tile job had to be redone because color was not as expected. Finished project looks great, installation was frustrating and disappointing.
