COLUMBIA ROOFING

I needed a new roof and contacted 3 companies that had good reviews on Angie’s List. They all seemed to say about the same thing, recommending similar products. I went with Columbia Roofing as I had used them before for a small project and was pleased. For my roof, they were able to match the other competitor who had the lowest price, and they even beat it by $300. Melissa in the office, was especially helpful in answering my questions the times I called before signing the contract. The day before the project was scheduled, the materials were dropped off; the day they were to do the project, they showed up at the promised time. In one day, they completed the roof, did everything they said they would, and meticulously cleaned up the yard. Just as importantly, the roof looks great! I highly recommend Columbia Roofing. It was a no-hassle project, and the company made good on their promise to install a quality roof in a quick and professional manner.

I had a wonderful experience with Columbia Roofing at my previous home in Columbia. They came out to fix a roof leak, and since it was a minor leak, they patched the leak at no charge! I thought - with service like that, I would be a customer for life! So when I had leakage issues and wanted new gutters installed in my current home in Jessup, Columbia Roofing was the first company that I went to! Unfortunately, I did not receive the same, exceptional service that I had first experienced. I would actually NOT recommend Columbia Roofing AT ALL from now on! Columbia Roofing came out on 1/9/19 for an in home estimate, a month after I called to schedule. I was told that I would receive the estimate by the end of the week. The following week, 1/14, I emailed CR as I did not receive the estimate. The estimate was received on 1/15, and I sent the signed contract with the “down” payment by 1/17. The estimate was for new seamless gutters with guards, and a new drip edge, which I was told would address the leakage I was experiencing. The work was scheduled for Friday, 2/1. I called on 1/25, 1/29, 1/31, and emailed on 1/30, requesting licensing and insurance information. I finally received the information on 1/31, just days before the work was supposed to be done. 2/1 it snowed, so the work could not be completed; it was rescheduled for 2/2 or 2/4. No one showed up on 2/2 OR 2/4. I called and emailed and did not receive a response back until 2/5. I was rescheduled (again!) for 2/7. 2/7, CR did come, however they did not install the gutter guards on my new gutters! The CR crew said that another crew was on their way to finish, yet no one showed up. I called and left a message, and emailed. I got an email back on 2/8, saying the “crew had to get materials”. I don’t understand that response, as 1. They should have had the materials in the first place, back on 2/1, when the job was first scheduled, and 2. I should have received a preemptive phone call informing me of this. I was also told that the crew would be back on the afternoon of 2/8 to finish, however, once again, they did not show up. 2/9, I emailed and asked if there was someone “higher up” that I could talk to about the level of service I was receiving. I received a response back on 2/11 that said the work would be completed in the next day or two. The response also ignored my request to talk to someone “higher up”. Later in February, we had a big storm with a lot of wind. The wind blew off most of the shingles that were on the edges of my roof, all around the entire perimeter of my roof. Since CR was slow in responding and we were expecting more rain, I contacted another company to come out and reattach/replace the shingles. The new company came out immediately (2/28) and told me the shingles blew off so easily because when the new gutters, guards, and drip edge were installed, they were installed incorrectly. The gutter guards were pushing all the shingles up, many of the shingles were just sitting on the roof, unattached, plus the new drip edge did not fix the leakage issue I was having in the first place! (I was furious that CR charged me for a new drip edge when that didn’t fix the leak issue!) The new company found the leak issue and fixed it for a fraction of the price that I paid CR. The new company told me that they would not touch the drip edge or gutters/guards because it would void any warranty I had with CR. I called CR to come out and fix the incorrectly installed gutter guards, and CR said they would come out and fix it on 3/4. 3/4 I was told that they couldn’t come out because they needed to “get supplies to do the ‘repairs’”... again. Finally, after first contacting CR in December, by March, the work was done, and hopefully, done correctly. I sent a very polite email asking the company if there was anything they could do to rectify my negative experience, and I received a response saying that they would give me 6% off… I would definitely NOT recommend this company again. I am very sad that I had recommended this company with glowing reviews in the past. Please - save your wallet, and save yourself the headaches, and go with another company! * This review was not posted immediately after the work was performed, as I first wanted to insure that nothing else would leak / “go wrong”.

I had researched siding and found Columbia Roofing through the website that provided the siding I wanted to use. I scheduled an estimate through the siding website and was contacted by Columbia Roofing to set a date for an estimate. On the day of the estimate, no one showed up at the time I had scheduled. I called the office to find out when the rep would arrive. When the office called back, they replied that the rep was not aware that I would be home and they had come by and done the estimate without my participation. I had a number of questions I planned on asking and the answers would impact my decision on which company I would use. My time is just as valuable as the representatives. I scheduled my day around the estimate. I have no way of knowing what the estimate covers or anything about the company and their employees, other than what is on their web site. I don't have an understanding about how the work will be accomplished and what is guaranteed. It's unreasonable to expect me to schedule another day to discuss the estimate when my expectations would have been set if I had the opportunity to discuss the work with the rep on the day that the estimate was scheduled.

I think I have already rated this, but here it is again, so I will make it short, I had 3 estimates, and they were the best in terms of price, and quality of work. If the weather is bad you need to work with them, as they will call you to reschedule.

We chose Columbia Roofing because it was highly recommended by an acquaintance, who was satisfied with the price as well as the customer service. The estimator assessed the job but never supplied the estimate. At first he said he had emailed it. We never received it. Then he said he'd send it again. He never did. When we inquired a final time, he said he'd send it from his office. He didn't. We ended up choosing Kanga Roof, which did an excellent job and completed the roof replacement in three days, for a cost of $17,000.

It was easy to set up an appointment. George came out and looked at the roof. He explained some roofing terms and what he might like to do. He said he would give me an estimate within a few days, but **I never heard from him again.**

Awesome service and delivery. A highly reputable and ethical company if you ask people who have hired their services, which is what I did before contacting them. Billy came by and gave me an estimate, found him to be very knowledgeable about their product and he doesn't over sell and will leave you alone to make a decision. The price quoted was very reasonable (I had 3 different estimates). During the actual work you have experienced supervisor inspecting the work. The roof looks great and I keep looking at it every time I pull up in the driveway.

Used CRI for roof repairs several years back & they treated me right doing a great job. When new roof was needed on our 3 level townhouse, CRI was the only roofer called. From estimate to final billing, they demonstrate all the qualities one wants & needs in a contractor. Will definitely use them for all my roofing needs.

replaced the roof as proposed, including some spots that needed new plywood. Roof was done on one day, they came back the next day to install the gutters.

Great, the were very professional and provided the service needed.

They replaced slate.We had 19 or 20 slates replaced. They used to come every other year but we're having them come every year now because of the age of the house.

Within a week Columbia Roofers setup the work and had two roofers at our door at the agreed upon time. The roofers knew exactly what needed to be done were great to deal with and got the work done in a couple of hours.

Estimator came out on time and was punctual. Poor rating s for the project manager not the estimator. I attempted to reach the project manager 4 times to ask a few questions about the quote and only received a call back once (two days after I left the message, and I missed the call). The company had a great reputation on Angie's List but follow up was horrible and as a result i selected another vendor. The estimator was great the issue I had was with the Project Manager and lack of follow up by that individual.

m George was extremely good to work with - straight forward, informative and knowledgeable. He answered all m questions, and straightened out erroneous inforamtion on which type of skylight was fesaible for my roof slope. He returned all my calls very promptly an dso I never felt there was an unanswered question. His inspection of my roof was much the most thorough of all 6 contractors whom I interviewed. Mike, who did the actually roof work and skylight installation, with his helper, arrived very promptly and worked dilligently and steadily completing the job well within the allotted time freame. He was a pleasure to work with, and everything was cleaned off perfectly. After they left, there was no sign, in the front and bak yard, that anyone had been working on the roof. I recommend them If you go with George and Mike, you will have got the best in the business!

Unlike other companies they did not push me to replace my roof. It all went great.

They were honest with me and recommended good services. They arrived on time for the appointment which was important to me. The roofer was very nice to work with. He also saw my shingles needed to be adjusted so he did that for me while he was up there.

I spent several weeks researching roof replacement,reviewing the highest rated companies in the area. I also realized that receiving a quote simply was one price without a break down of the cost of materials and labor plus profit. That wasn't acceptable.they listened the cost of materials by item, and the cost for installing the roof. Once I asked for the break down, 3 of the 5 companies I asked for a quote did not give me a return call, or gave me a quote that was outrageous. The 2 companies left were user friendly., Columbia roofing sent George over to give an estimate and that clinched the deal. George is very low key, no pressure very knowledgeable. I know this because I spent lots of time researching shingles.

I've used Columbia Roofing for roofing and siding repair for over 20 years. They not only do excellent work, they are honest and reliable. They have NEVER tried to sell me something I didn't need. My roof is nearing the end of its life, but they have told me honestly how much longer I can keep the roof instead of saying it needs replacement, which they could easily claim given it's over 22 years old now. I am convinced part of the reason my roof has lasted so long with minor repairs is because I have used Columbia Roofing over the years for small fixes and to catch little issues before they became big ones. The last repair they did for me was in April and they came back at my request in late July for a whole-roof inspection to make sure there are no problems. I just had a lot of expensive renovation done inside my house and wanted to be sure there wouldn't be any roof "surprises" over the winter. What did they charge me for the inspection and a minor siding repair? Nothing. I highly recommend Columbia Roofing for siding and roof work. Be aware that after bad weather you will have to wait for them because they will be booked solid, but any roofing company that is not busy is probably not a roofing company you want to use!

Everything went very well, entire job done in one day with no need to call them back for additional service or corrections. Clean-up was exceptional with no nails left in the grass or yard. None of our plants and flower beds were disturbed or damaged while the roofing work was done. I have recommended this firm to my son who also used them to install an attic fan. He was pleased with their work. When my neighbors asked about my roof I recommended CRI to them as well.

If every home project went this smoothly, life would be grand. Workers and materials showed up when promised and the roof was replaces in a day. A supervisor was here several times to check on the work. There was no debris left around the house. The roof looks great. The price was comparable to other estimates but I thought the service had a more personal touch. I would use Columbia Roofing again - I have been using them for 25 years and they are reliable and the price is competitive.

They were excellent. I recommended them to a friend and she was totally satisfied with them. They were excellent as far as the price compared to other places. They were extremely polite and cleaned up after themselves. I was very satisfied with them. One of my cousins used them and recommended them to me. They really work so good, I couldn't advice them to do anything different.

In general, the job proceeded smoothly. The day before the event, the roofing materials were delivered and placed on the roof by a crane. The following day it rained. The next day the roofers arrived early. They built a small partial cover to protect my Japanese Cherry tree in my front yard. In the back yard, they partially covered my a/c unit from debris. In both front and back they put down canvas to collect the falling old roofing materials. All went smoothly until a rain that had been predicted for later in the day arrived early. The result was the last stages of the job were done with sprinkles that eventually turned into rain. The roofing job was completed except for the guttering. The guttering and the guttering guard had been removed in the final stages of the roofing job. This left me with a roof without a gutter. I called the office and asked when the gutter and would be replaced. I was told that the person who would do that job would give me a call in the morning to schedule when that job could be done. The following morning, I received a call. Forunately, the weather cleared and the gutter and gutter guard were installed the following day.

I called and setup an appointment but they had to cancel due to weather. This was understandable but it happened three more times ending in a no-show on May 12th. They were scheduled to arrive between 4-6PM. No call, nothing. I wish I could charge for the time off I used at work. This is a stark contrast to the service they provided a year or two earlier. I was quite happy with the repairs they performed back then.

Came out promptly. Examined my roof and wrote up an estimate describing all repairs. I agreed to it and it was repaired the same day. Work was done as indicated and done very well.
