Abbott's plumbing was contracted by Lowe's to install a hybrid water heater in a utility closet in my basement in December 2017. Last week I had a water leak in that room and a different plumber told me that the hybrid water heater had been installed improperly, too close to a wall, because there needs to be at least six inches clearance on all sides. When I contacted Abbott's, they refused to come out and move the water heater, claiming the installation warranty had lapsed. They are now asking me to pay another $500 to correct the problem that they had created in the first place. I strongly recommend not to use Abbott's plumbing. If they change their mind and agree to come and do the work for free, I will retract my negative review.

They were able to schedule to do the work with in a couple of days since we had no hot water. They finished and picked up everything less than a half day of work. The quality of their work was really good. Although a few months after the new pressure release valve they installed started making noises again when turning the water off from any sink in the house. They came back and found it was just a bad valve. So they replaced it for free. That shows they really stand by their work. If something they installed goes wrong, even though it was not anything they did wrong, they still took care of it.

Great job. I remodeled a bathroom and did all the work except for the plumbing rough-in. The plumbing was done well. What most impressed me about Abbott's was how they worked with me to make sure the job was done right and met my schedule. When the plumbing supply was late, Abbott's rescheduled to a new date that worked for me. The team that did the rough-in was efficient and professional and did a great job letting me know what was going on. A supervisor showed up the next day to go over the work and make sure everything was inspection ready. After the work there was an issue with an installed part failing - Tim, the owner, was very helpful. I had a plumber at the house within the hour, and Tim was forthright in accepting responsibility and making everything right. It's great when everything goes perfect, but I think a better measure is what does a company do when thing don't go according to plans. Tim and the Abbott's team stepped up, worked with me and made sure the final product was what I needed. I would hire them again and recommend them without hesitation.

I think I got them off of Angie's List. They did a good job but they were extremely pricey. The cost changed and it was a very simple fix. It was a snake thing and it was supposed to be like $175 and it ended up costing me $300; not a good thing.

The service went well. We purchased a water heater and installation through Lowe's who contracted with Abbott's Plumbing. Abbott's responded quickly to the initial call and was able to work with me in getting someone out as soon as possible to get measurements done and installation date scheduled. On installation day, the technicians ran late because of a previous project, which is understandable and has happened with other contractors. The only thing is, I wish their office would have communicated with me earlier. I was given a time frame between 10am-1pm and I had to place the call to see what time to expect them around 12:30/1pm, that is when I was told they were running behind. All in all, the work was done and they completed it within a reasonable time frame once they arrived.

We've had Abbott Plumbing in a few times, so I'm going to describe our last two visits. I was looking into replacing some faucets around the house. Abbott's estimator came and told me that it would make more sense for me to do that work myself as I had adequate skills and explained the process. When I went to do the replacements myself, I was able to do the work as described. However, when I got to my final faucet, my shut off valve, which had a plastic handle, broke off in my hand - remember that's an existing condition, not something that Abbott did. This was on a Saturday. I immediately called Abbott and they were able to get someone to my house that same day and install new shut off valves on copper pipe. Great service, friendly and experienced plumbers. Our most recent work we replaced our kitchen sink. I purchased the kitchen sink on-line. Abbott came over and installed it with no problems. I wanted to reuse the existing faucet, but it was in very bad condition - really bad, it was already leaking, but I was trying to same money. The plumber had an appropriate faucet available in his truck. I checked online for the cost and they did not mark it up and installed it for a very low additional fee. The sink installation involved repiping the sanitary lines under the sink which were completely crazy and unclogging the sanitary line, which couldn't be done previously due to the crazy plumbing. I work in construction and know how much plumbing services cost. Abbott Plumbing costs are in line with industry standard and perform high quality work. They are professional, call ahead, are on time, and clean up after themselves. I am still really thrilled that they were able to come out on a Saturday and that they respected my ability to do some of the work myself instead of trying to get the sale.

Called this company for water heater repair because they had installed it for the previous owner. The heater is 7 years old and is a 9 year heater. The guy told me we had a few options - to replace or to try to fix the leaky valve. The price to replace was astronomical - $200-300 higher than others (I've since researched). I asked him to fix it (which he told me was easily doable). I was beginning to feel uncomfortable with them in my house as I heard the two workers speaking (along the lines of "you know she won't replace it"). In the end, they couldn't fix it, but charged me the entire price as if they had fixed it. I wasn't expecting the service to be free - but feel it unfair to charge the full price ($200 for a part, essentially). In the end I tried to argue the price and ended up paying to get them out of my house. I felt completely ripped off and taken advantage of as I was a female without knowledge of what they were replacing. I will never call this company again and have since found someone to replace the water heater for significantly less.

Response from Abbott's Plumbing
We had installed this water heater 12-YEARS AGO (2003 S/N J03311914). When we got to the home the heater was off as the customer said the relief valve leaked. We advised the customer to replace the heater and they REFUSED. They asked us to only replace the relief valve, and so we did - against our recommendation. The water heater would not light up - and now they regret their decision. Anyone reading this review should look at the other reviews our company has had and keep them in mind when deciding if we are the right fit for your needs.

It was a great experience. They were on top of everything, and adhered to their schedule the entire time. Another thing that pleased me was how they kept me informed throughout the entire job. I shopped around for a few quotes and decided to go with Abbott's. I feel that I made the right decision to hire these guys, and I would highly recommend them to anyone else. I've used other plumbers in the past and these were by far the most professional.

All is well, I hed them return to lower the drain a bit as the tile would have left the drain lip above the tile. They came right out and I had no issues. I've used Abbott's multiple times, and each time they have sent out the friendliest plumbers. I'm the type of customer with a ton of questions, and all of these guys have been great, taking the time out to show me different things about the plumbing and how to troubleshoot different stuff. They strike me as very upfront and honest. They're always quick to come out when I call, and never late. Customer service is top-notch from promptness to professionalism. Price-wise, they're not the type to undercut the lowest guy out there. The prices seem competitive, but on the high end. To me, it's worth it to pay a bit more for the better customer service. They've always seemed more than willing to work with you on the price a little extra if you ask nicely. Quality-wise, I have no complaints. Each time, they've been thorough in their work, insistent upon doing things the right way, always making sure at the end that everything is satisfactory. I haven't experienced any buyer's regret.

Abbott was very responsive and professional to our request. They answered all of our detailed questions. We chose not to use them in the end because we received a better price from a company whose only mission is to remodel bathrooms. That firm included finish work that Abbott didn't include in it's quote which would save us work. I would not hesitate to call Abbott for any plumbing job I need in the future, and would've used them for the bath remodeling if there was more money in my budget to spend, but I didn't have that luxury.
Description of Work: I sought 4 quotes from bath remodeling companies, of which Abbott Plumbing was 1. I previously this summer had Abbott do a complete copper repiping job to my house and was very satisfied with the work, so I asked Abbott to quote on this remodel.

Our hot water heater broke on a Saturday and we called Rheem to ask how to proceed since it was under warranty for parts. They sent instructions but highly recommended we use one of their 3 recommended plumbers to inspect and install, Abbott was one of them. After checking Angie's list, we felt somewhat comfortable in using Abbott from the 3 choices. We called Abbott that same day and was told that the part we needed (TRD) is stocked on the plumbers truck. (Abbott Lie#1) So we scheduled appointment for Monday morning. Two days with cold showers can't be that bad! Monday morning, the plumber showed as expected, very punctual. He spent approximately 10-15 minutes to verify the issue then told me WE would have to order the part. When I asked if the part was on the truck, the plumber advised it never has been, nor will it ever be stocked. This is due, in part, to the many variations of TRD's out there. I might add, that if we were told the item was not stocked on the truck, we would have shopped around a little more to find someone who possibly stocks this item. After the plumber left I called the main number to explain my disappointment and frustration having being told that the part we needed was supposed to be stocked on the truck and now we find out it never has been stocked, now adding to the bill to be charged a second visit by the plumber for installation of the part. The young lady who answered said she felt bad and offered a $50 coupon for the next visit, as an apology for the mix up. Come to find out, it was a $35 coupon, as they only offer $50 coupons for new water heater installations. (Abbott Lie #2). The part finally arrived and the plumber was scheduled to come out. He arrived on time, very punctual, and came into the house. He started working and I started the timer on my iPhone the moment he walked into the house. He was in the basement, I hung out as I didn't want him dilly-dallying around and get the job done. He took his good ol' time and talked about how he was driving to Pittsburgh that day, after a 1/2 day of work to attend a pin-ball tournament. After the work was completed, he started putting his tools away and gathering his things. That's when I stopped the timer. The work was done and he had worked 30 minutes just about on the dot, including his story telling. Abbott charges $109 to walk through the door and 30 minutes of work then $40 per every 15 minutes thereafter, as stated when scheduling the appointments. Imagine my surprise that I was charged $114 for the second visit. $109 + $40 - $35 (coupon). The plumber left and I called his Manager to explain that I shouldn't be charged for the additional 15 minutes because most of that time was spent talking about his time off and gathering his things AND he went 1 (one) MINUTE over the allotted 30. I also mentioned that the first day the Plumber spent only 15 minutes in the house and didn't get a full 30 minutes of work completed. The Manager then explained, "...It costs $100 to us to send a truck to each call, so, we didn't make much money off you. There isn't anything I will do". It's very coincidental that we were offered a $35 coupon and the plumber took just enough time to make sure he was 'working' more than 30 minutes in order to charge the extra $40. Don't use them unless you like to be over charged. For approximately 45 minutes of work in 2 days, replacing one TRD, we spent $223. I'm in the wrong business, where else can you over charge customers AND treat them poorly.

Our house is about 100 years old and had the original galvanized piping which corroded over time with poor water pressure. We sought 4 quotes from Angie's A rated plumbers. Though Abbott's was not the cheapest, we determined they would bring the best value based on how the estimator, Richard (who was also the plumber who did the work) communicated his plan and recommendations and our perception of his experience using copper tubing (our preferred, but costlier piping material). Like the lowest priced plumber, he quoted the same brand water heater that many plumbing companies use, but we preferred the Rheem brand and he was the only plumber who offered it. Abbott Plumbing, and Richard did not disappoint us. He showed up on-time on the day the plumbing was to occur. He worked very hard with his helper to remove the old galvanized piping and his copper tubing and soldering connections were of excellent workmanship. Copper tubing was installed throughout the basement, to the first and second level of the house connecting the sink, dishwasher, laundry tub, bath, shower, and toilet. He installed a connection for the refrigerator ice maker, and attached hose bibs on the front/ back of the house, while connecting new piping to the water heater. Though water needed to be turned off and on during the 3 days, Richard was polite and considerate of our needs for water while we were living in the house. He and his helper made sure to clean up after themselves, and the result is that we have excellent water pressure, and pure water as he also installed a whole house filter at the source of water supply. He gave us a 1 year warranty on the work, and 6 years warranty (parts only). We are very pleased to say the least, and would recommend Richard and Abbott Plumbing to our best friends. He's going to give us a quote on our drains now, which also need replacement.

Our old water heater started to leak on the floor in our laundry room. We contacted this plumbing company because it was listed on Angie's list and seemed to have good reviews. We called to discuss the problem we were having, and they assured us that they could assist us in a timely fashion. Our original intent was to have them come take out the old water heater and install another one that we were going to purchase from Home Depot. However, they offered us a deal that included the removing of our old one and the installation of a new one of theirs for a price that was cheaper than buying a new one from Home Depot. They came the next day to do the work and were in and out in less than 4 hours. The new one is working beautifully and we were very pleased with their work.
Description of Work: We had a new hot water heater installed and the old one removed. It was done the day after we requested it by excellent plumbers and everything related to the old water heater was removed by them. They took care to put paper down on our carpets so that they would not track dirt into our home. They were very couteous and professional!
