A-1 Roofing's Kanga Roof

The customer service reps were very knowledgeable and responsive. My tech, Vince, was punctual and very professional. On his first visit, Vince cleaned the gutters and completed an initial roof inspection. During the inspection, he found the source of a leak that had damaged the drywall in my bathroom. He provided an estimate to repair the leak as well as recoat the flat portion of my roof, (approximately $800). He came out again to repair the roof, but after the next rain, I noticed that the ceiling continued to leak. I reported the problem to the office, and Vince identified the problem with the boot seal. He repaired it, and we haven't had a problem since. I didn't give Kangaroof an A because it was my understanding that for my 1 year membership, I would be receiving periodic check ups and leaf removal, but I had to call the office to schedule each seasonal gutter cleaning. As a result, they were only cleaned twice. While I understand that I should have called, other service providers that i use for AC maintenance, pest control, and waterproofing, send me reminders to schedule appointments when regular service is required.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I paid an additional $1,000 for issues that needed to be done. They actually took care of my home and two of my neighbors from that initial deal. They were very nice to deal with on the telephone. The gentleman that came to do the work was great. I was satisfied with the work that was done.

Personnel were pleasant and attentive to detail. Work was performed on time and within budget. I did find a few roofing nails in the driveway, even though it was rolled with a magnet. However I do not feel this was unexpected or problematic considering the amount of work conducted in that vicinity.

All went well. There was some delay because of the weather which cannot be helped. A-1 did exactly as they said and in a timely fashion. Maurice was a pleasure to deal with. There were no disruptions to our daily routine and A-1 worked around us. Also the price was good; competitive with other roofers.

We have been using Roof Works for years and they have always been courteous, honest and professional. We called them out after a pretty bad storm and had them take a look at our roof for damage. They were able to identify our problem, provide an affordable soloution in no time at all! They were professional the entire time and provided us with an affordable estimate on repairing the damage. A couple days later we agreed to their price and they completed the job while we were at work and when we returned home we could obviousl tell our home had been prepared, yet there were no trash or nails left in our yard. We will continue to use this company each time we experience any damage to our roof.

After playing tag to get the visit scheduled - they didn't respond to any of my emails - we finally had Sam out (along with someone else - other person's name escapes me). While Sam was a gentleman, I have to say that I'm disappointed with the service. Based on the offer, I expected: ? Inspection of your home by a roofing specialist ? Minor roof repairs that can cause water infiltration ? Caulking exposed nail heads on flashing ? Up to two hours of maintenance, including but not limited to resealing around exhaust fans/vents and chimney flashing ? Any other areas that are in need of repairs will be brought to the homeowner's attention and a professional plan of action presented Sam showed me a few pictures he took on my roof and gave me an estimate for additional work. What I didn't receive was any maintenance at all. During the visit, they damaged our gutter covers (Gutter Helmet); although they mostly straightened out the damage to the gutter covers, it was disappointing that it happened in the first place. When I went to check on the gutter cover damage at the back of the house, I saw that they left debris sitting on the roof. Sam suggested that if we weren't happy, we should contact the office. He told me that they'd be happy to come back out and perform the maintenance work another time. My time is precious and making a date for another visit wasn't really what I had in mind. There's no question in my mind - the Big Deal wasn't worth it.

Maurice and his crew did a great job for our home. I use his company for all roofing matters and I will employ his services at our new home when we move in 2013!

The company responded quickly to my email. The day of the scheduled work the technician arrived on time and was very professional. He took pictures with his cell phone to show me the areas he was working on. Although I asked him to forward those pictures to my email account he never did. He was pleasant to work with and seemed to do a good job caulking around one skylight, the chimney and the ridge vent. A woman from the company followed up the next day with a phone call. I had asked for a quote on replacing gutters on one side of the house and I thought the quote was somewhat high; I needed more time to get comparison quotes so I did not agree to use them at this time for the gutter work. Basically it was a good experience!

I first signed up on their website for an estimate, but received no phone call. I then called the office in an attempt to schedule an estimate, but when I mentioned my prior attempt to schedule one they simply took my name and number and said they would forward it. Once again I received no phone call. I guess they are too busy to even let me know they are too busy to do an estimate. The only reason I am not rating them an F is because the woman I spoke to on the phone was friendly and professional.

I had some leaking in two spots where pipes jetted out of the roof, KANGAROOF repaired these leaks using their basic repair sealant. They also offered me their high end rubber sealant. It was of course an additional cost. The cost was so high, though (about $700 extra if I remember correctly) that it was beyond my budget.

They did a great job. The repairman (I can't remember his name I'm afraid) was on time for the estimate, did a thorough inspection and took pictures of everything he saw that needed repair (since I wasn't about to climb the 20+ feet up to my roof to see for myself). I had some concerns about a rippling noise from the roof when it was windy but he said it was normal for metal roofs and all the metal was properly fastened. He gave me an estimate that was far better than I was expecting and he didn't try to upsell me on anything; he stuck to the problems he saw based on my concerns. We set up a time for him to return to do the repairs. The repairman who did the estimate was also the person who did the repairs. He again showed up on time, the repairs went quickly and he took pictures of the work he did, so I could see the results. The charges stayed true to the estimate - there were no extra charges. I would definitely use them again!

Picked the company due to its high rating on Angie's List, was not disappointed. Came when promised. Completed all work in a timely and professional manner. I can't even see the color difference with the newer shingles.

The service provider was professional, courteous, punctual, and did the work as advertized. He made a number of suggestions for possible additional work, but provided input as to when these might be needed and did not apply pressure to purchase additional services. We are very satisfied and would use them again.

The Big Deal: Vincent came out and asked me what my concerns were about the roof. I told him the Home Inspection report revealed shotty repairs around the sky lights and boot. However, I first wanted all the roof shingles tacked down securely that face the Chesapeake Bay. He asphaulted all the tabs of each shingle. He also applied two shingles that has blown off previously. I need the metal roofs looked at because there had been leaking. Vincent took pictures and showed me where the seams were. He told me about Grayco that covered metal roofs and was guarenteed to last for 50 years. After the Big Deal roof inspection with minor repairs, Vincent outlined the work needed with pricing. I agreed to it. And they came out twice afterward. The first time out the re-repairs around the sky slights and boot were accomplished. It was too cold for him to apply the Grayco product. Afterward, it was discovered there was some leakage around the boot. A1 scheduled Vincent to come out the very next day. That is when it was discovered that the ring around the boot was too large (although slightly) and somehow the boot emploded. Vincent redid the work in its entirety and was also able to apply the Grayco product. I am very pleased and very pleased that I joined Angie's List and the Angie's Big Deals.

I don't know if I would use them again because they were weird, but I haven't completely written them off. We spent more than the deal for $179. It was weird because the person that came out and did the estimate for the work didn't include certain parts of the roof, like the roof on the bump out and the porch roof, they just looked at the flat surface of the roof. Of course we wanted those done too so that was extra, outside of the estimate. They were a little difficult to get a hold of. The guys were nice enough, and it was extremely hot when they were doing the work and they underestimated the amount of work to be done so they worked extra long, their car broke down and their boss had to show up to find out what was taking them so long. The work they did was fine and I think they charged us a fair price to cover the extras they hadn't included, but it was a hassle.

Very professional, fast, friendly.

Make sure the weather is not an issue when you schedule your appointment. Wet weather and winds is a factor working on the roof. Also, better to get the roof fixed during warm weather because the shingles are rock hard in cold weather.

Was told that I would have to pay $49 in order for someone to come out to give me an estimate for roof repair despite the fact their listing claims "free estimates."

I got the $199 roof check and up to 2 hours of general repairs. They were lovely to deal with, from the person who answers the phones to the tech who came out to the senior tech who had to come out the next week with different equipment. I feel badly that they had to come back - I have a townhouse with a very steeply pitched covered porch roof that made it next to impossible for them to reach the little piece of flashing that had come loose at the very top of that pitch. The first tech was very pleasant and conducted the inspection, did some caulking and tacked down a few gutter pins and areas of flashing he could reach. When I explained that one of the main reasons I had bought this deal was to have that bit of flashing tacked down, he called his senior tech who came out a few hours later and showed me the machine they would bring out to help them get in that tight spot. He said they would be back next week, and today, true to his word, they came back one week later. The hydraulic hoist they have is impressive (and would be much safer for basic roofing work) but it turns out they were able to do the job with a longer ladder with stabilizers. I have to give them credit - they spent a very long time making sure they found a solution that worked for me and was safe for them.

The roof was in good shape but unfortunately there was nothing they could do for leak in skylight.

Discovered rain water coming in attic around the chimney. Scheduled an inspection last fall and received an estimate to fix the issue. Work performed to my satisfaction.

The technicians were very nice and they did the job quickly. Everything turned out fine.

The service was good overall. They were quick and courteous.

The person who came to the house to do the repairs was very polite and professional. Shortly after the repairs were done the siding blew off again. It was repaired under warranty. Sandy came through and blew the same siding off again. The company would not repair under warranty due to the hurricane. The estimate to repair was $800 higher than the company I had do the repair after Sandy. With the Angies list special it was worth the repair and I would be happy to have the same man come work on our home. Otherwise they are way over priced and I do not plan to use them again.
