AWESOME company. I got a return call and email within 5 minutes of my initial call. Someone was out to give me an estimate within 48 hours, and they were great about working around my needs for scheduling. The gentleman who came to do the work was punctual, professional, and he did a great job! Could not recommend more!
Description of Work: Filling in grout and "color coating" large master bath floor tile. Cleaned and sealed large tiled shower, and protectant over double sink vanity and tub surround.
Great job. Very professional. The gentleman who came was great.

After an initial schedule miss because apparently Sir Grout Atlanta headquarters handles the toll-free call line for franchisees, further punctually went well. General Manager Greg does a great job on demonstration and questions. Technicians Moses and Brendan arrived on time and worked neatly. Shower results were fantastic with steam and chemical, I trust the sealer will hold-up; perfect in the first 30-days so far. We asked Greg to come back on the kitchen floor for some hand work (tech was new) where the machine the technician used could not get under cabinet-edge overhangs. Greg was back within the arranged 10-days and touch-up looks excellent. Again, I trust the sealer will last, reasonably.
Description of Work: clean and seal one 3 yr old shower; clean & seal two bathroom floors(one new); seal brand-new shower #2; clean & seal kitchen-dinning, and laundry-room floors(230 sq.ft.)

The provider was very good at checking the granite for any flaws and then cleaned and power sealed it. He was very helpful with providing information on its care and answering our questions. And he was very pleasant to talk to.
Description of Work: Cleaned and sealed my granite countertops.
It went off a little bumpy. I called Sir Grout of Washington to schedule an estimate but to my surprise, I got an email from Sir Grout of Baltimore confirming my appointment for the estimate. I called Sir Grout of Baltimore as to why I was getting an email from them since I called the one in Washington, D.C.? I was told that my residence is in the area that is served by Sir Grout of Baltimore. It was a franchise and they schedule with the franchise that is serving my area. I lived north of Rockville so I do not think I am closer to Baltimore than D.C. and the only way I could use the Washington franchise was if the owner of the franchise agreed to do the job. Whatever, Sir Grout of Baltimore got pretty good reviews on Angie's List so I kept my appointment with them. Greg, the General Manager, arrived within the window of our appointment. I pointed out all the dried, stained and cracked caulking around my vanities, floor of the shower and bath tub. Greg told me that it would be an all day job and gave me an estimate with my Angie's List discount. I told Greg that I am only off on Fridays so we need to schedule the work on a Friday. He told me that he could schedule it next Friday a week from the date of my estimate with is the 2nd of the month. I sent Greg an email the same day to confirm that job date. I put down my deposit and planned on having the work done next Friday. The day came and 30 minutes after the arrival time no one has shown up or called. I called the Sir Grout of Baltimore and was told by Katrina that I was not scheduled for the job until the 7th. Did I misunderstood Greg? The 2nd and the 7th sounds a bit similar but I specifically told Greg that I am only off on Fridays and the 7th is a Wednesday. Anyway, my daughter and son said they would be home and so I went ahead left the date as is. Greg later told me that he has no idea why it was scheduled for the 7th instead of the 2nd because he remembered that I had told him I was only off on Fridays. The day of the job, Scott came within the time window. We went over the job again even though he already knew what needs to be done. I asked Scott to be very careful removing the old caulking from the vanity in the master and guest bathrooms because of the wallpaper there. I also asked Scott to make sure that he caulked the shower drain completely because we have had problems with caulking before where water was leaked onto the ceiling below. The job went smoothly and it did took Scott all day to do the job. He put the color seal and dried the floor with portable commercial fans before applying the clear seal. He advised me to use a ph neutral solution on the tiled floors to clean it to avoid damaging the seal that would void the warranty. The vanities looked great with the silicone shiny caulking, the floors around the shower, tub and all three commodes also looked great. The inside of the shower with the new caulking and deep cleaning of the soap scum made the shower looked new. The water stain on the tub around the drain mostly disappeared. Scott advised me that we should discontinue using bar soap because the water from the shower spraying down on the bar soap splatters the soap scum around the shower surround and is difficult to clean afterwards. My tiled bathroom floors in both bathrooms looked white, clean and new. Looks like I put in new tiled floor instead of just having them cleaned. I am very pleased with the entire job and so glad that I decided to get it done. The price was a bit high but I also understand that it is very laborious being on your hands and knees most of the time. My husband and I would not have been able to do it let alone get up from the floor so many times. The next time my bathrooms need to be done again, I may do some comparative shopping first. Scott was very professional, courteous, and helpful. He left the job clean and took all his trash with him. I am very happy with the results.
Description of Work: Remove old caulking and re-caulk around 3 vanities, one shower inside and out, one tub floor, one shower drain, and around 3 commodes. Also clean grout on tiled bathroom floors (2 bathrooms), color seal and clear seal grout to help against molding and mildew accumulation on grout. Clean stubborn water and soap stains and film on shower surround and bath tub.

Here is where the nightmare begins. The kitchen job required 2 visits to do the job correctly and it took weeks to have the 2nd visit scheduled because they were ?too busy?. A few weeks later the same tech (after a no show) came to clean and polish the marble in my bathrooms and foyer. Greg called me to collect $1500 telling me how wonderful the marble looked. When I arrived home I was shocked to see that the marble did not look any different and the tech (Nelson) left a mess that I had to clean-even all over the walls. He also forgot to chalk which was included in the price. Greg admitted that he did not inspect Nelson?s work (but kept the money). Greg came by the unit weeks later to inspect and admitted the work was shabby and promised to do the work himself but instead sent Nelson a 2nd time with the same result. Greg the owner admitted having a problem with the worker and he said he would do it himself. A few weeks later Greg did the foyer (December 2014) which had some improvement but still scratched up. Greg told me in early January 2015 that he hired a marble expert from Texas who would be working on my place. Here is my last correspondence with Greg. ?I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and happy New Year. I have 2 commercial jobs that I am working through. I should be able to address your situation within the next 2 weeks. Does that work? Best regards, Greg Ohrin General Manager - Sir Grout of Baltimore Mobile: 410.259.5869" He has since not responded to emails nor calls since that time. I am frustrated with this company and would like my marble to be finished correctly and to be done with this. I called 2 other marble restoration company?s and they pointed out the flaws in their work and guaranteed me of a much better outcome. I will be reporting this business to BBB and give them a big F for fraud.
Description of Work: Sir Grout of Baltimore was hired in the spring of 2014 to clean my kitchen floor for $800. They were priced $300 more than a highly rated Home Advisor professional but the general manager Greg O. boasted about getting better results from their high performance machines. Greg O. was confident that his company could restore the marble throughout the condo-so I paid $2,800 for the entire package.

$2,800
Response from Sir Grout of Baltimore
This is an inaccurate description of the events occurring with this project. The project value wasn't $2,800. It was $2,385. The reason we were confident about generating superior results with our colorseal process for tile and grout is that we use a purpose built machine scrubber to clean the floor prior to the application of colorseal. The customer was considering a quote from a company that didn't have such machinery and was going to clean the floor by hand. We were completely willing to address the customer's concern about the kitchen portion of the job and the characterization of "too busy" isn't fair as the customer travels a great deal, so two schedules needed to be coordinated. Our GM actually performed the touch up work on the kitchen portion of the job. Concerning the marble work, we train on and use artisan processes for honing and polishing marble. Sometimes we simply aren't able to achieve the results that we and the customer are wanting. In this case, we executed our process three times on the customer's foyer and couldn't achieve the desired result. However, the result on the marble in the bathroom floor was what we all expected but wasn't noted by the customer. We never said we hired a marble expert from Texas. Rather, as part of a national franchise business, our GM did consult with other franchises looking for suggestions on why after the first and second attempts to hone and polish the foyer floor we weren't getting the desired results. We then made the third and final attempt to hone and polish the floor without achieving the desired result. Given the result wasn't what we expected, we wrote off the remaining $810 that the customer owed. We charged a total of $950 for the marble work between the foyer and bath floor. By writing off the $810, the customer paid $140 ($950-$810) in the end for the marble work which is less than what the share for the bath floor would have been on its own. So to be clear, the customer paid ZERO for the foyer work because we couldn't generate the desired result despite the cost to our business of trying three separate times. We weren't perfect in our execution of this project, but we absolutely stood behind our work, and this review is not a fair characterization at all of how we operate day in and day out.

After some confusion about the appointment date (technician called to say he could not make the original date and I gave him another available date) the technician said he would call with a specific time. I received no call and had to call the main office who got schedule straightened out. Once a new date/time was established, the technician arrived on time and did an excellent job.

After waiting two hours for the first appointment the call center kept telling me they were on the way and would call me. Hours later the local person called and said he was out of town and that Angie's list had mixed up the appointment time and date. I reminded him that his call center had confirmed the appointment by email and phone. After rescheduling for a later date the tech arrived and performed the service. I didn't see any difference in the granite than when I use cleaner and polish myself. Very disappointed.

Greg came to provide an estimate, and in doing so he explained in great detail the work that would be done and demonstrated the potential results. After getting two other estimates, I selected Sir Grout primarily because of Greg's demonstration. The work was easy to schedule. Scott and Jason did a great job, and we are very happy with the results. Although they were running late, Scott called to let me know in advance and was very apologetic. They did the work quickly and thoroughly and were very accommodating about working around my dog management issues. I recommend Sir Grout Baltimore very highly.

Very disappointed that the shower stall still needs to be regrouted. In the initial meeting, I was clear that I was either going to regrout or retile. Greg the owner, told me today on the phone that he never said he was going to regrout. He never said in our initial meeting that they never regrout. Now I am going to have to hire yet another company to regrout. This was money out the window. On a positive note: Jamal the person that did the work was great. He went above and beyond the scope of what the company does to make my shower look better. Thank you Jamal...
Description of Work: What they don't do, is regrouting! This is what I expected, not just a steam clean. They use the term Refresh, which they think is clear.

Jamal was very punctual, explained the process, answered all of my questions, etc. When I inquired about non-trivial stain removal, he placed a call to the home office for clarification. I was concerned that he was not equipped to remove deep stains that day, and that sealing the counter might make them more challenging to remove later. Fortunately, that turned out to not be the case. He worked very efficiently and completed the job in about 45 minutes. The granite was gleaming when he finished, with the only imperfections being some olive oil stains that were a bit too embedded to be removed by the basic cleaning process. I'll deal with those later.
