Description of Work: Energy audit, attic insulation

Description of Work: Steve Flippo (owner of Energy Savers) came out to our place on a weekend and performed an energy efficiency audit. The fee for this was $100 and was very useful in identifying sources of energy loss through inadequate insulation etc. We were very pleased by how efficiently this audit was conducted. For the audit, they performed a blower door test, infra red camera readings, tested any gas lines or gas/ oil fueled furnace/ hot water heater to make sure the air quality in the home is where it should be (before they do any sealing or insulating). They also gave us 12 CFLs, wrapped our hot water heater and wrapped 6' of our hot water lines coming off of our water heater. This led to a follow on proposal to insulate the attic space and the crawlspace. We had purchased an older home as a second home and it was in need of insulation. Energy Savers insulated the crawlspace using R-19 Kraft faced fiberglass batts and to the attic/attic stairwell walls added blown in densepacking cellulose insulation inside the joists. They also performed an airseal and block of chases. Steve also provided recommendations on what we could do ourselves in terms of caulking, weatherstripping, and adding door sweeps to minimize energy losses. At the conclusion of all this, they did another energy efficiency audit to demonstrate the improved energy efficiency as a result of the added insulation and other work performed. Steve also put us in touch with a local contractor (West and Callahan) to finish some much needed foundation work (sealing the crawlspace). One of the best things about dealing with Energy Savers is that they navigated us through the process of applying for a MD government rebate that covered up to half of the cost of performing the insulation (to a maximum of ~ $2000). Applying for the rebate was made easy and was efficient as Energy Savers basically did it for us, with information we provided. We received our rebate check much faster that we had anticipated (in time to help pay for all the work)..

Description of Work: We contacted Energy Savers because we have had a difficult time keeping our top floor in our house cool this summer. We started looking for local companies that did insulation work and found Energy Savers. I read many great reviews on their company on several different websites that made contacting them an easy call to make. We initially wanted to add insulation to our attic area and the sales representative told us about the new state of Maryland rebates that are available for homeowners with an energy audit performed on their home. The sales representative for the first meeting was punctual, knowledgable and overall very professional. We had no idea about any sort of rebates for insulation work in the state of Maryland and the Energy Savers made us aware of the 50% back rebates. We really felt that Steve and his team were looking out for our best interest with the energy efficiency of our home and the overall cost of the project. We then had an energy audit performed, which was very educational, especially when they put the blower door fan in our front door and showed us where all of our leaks were in our home with an infra-red camera (Very shocking to see just how much energy we were losing!). We then went forward with all of the work that the Energy Savers team recommended (Air sealing in our attic, adding blown in insulation, wrapping our recess lights, etc) and we could feel the difference almost overnight with the heat we have had this summer.

Description of Work: We had a WONDERFUL experience with Bobby and his team. He listened to our problems and gave us great recommendations to help with comfort and energy savings. He gave us pricing for what we asked for, and did not try to push any unnecessary products. He also helped us get almost $2,000 back in a rebate through our utility company. Today is the first time this summer we can sit upstairs as a family!
