Not good at all....
Description of Work: My mother qualified for Weatherization through Talbot Co. They hired Aire Serv, whom when they did the job made a huge mess of our attic that was also being used for storage. Along the way stuff was knocked over into the insulation and the crawl space. During and after the job was done a housing inspector was called in to review the work, etc. and said the mess they left behind was unacceptable. The work was initially done before Christmas of 2016 and they were called back several times to fix the unit, and they were told by the Housing inspector to clean up the mess they had left the attic in....They insisted on coming unannounced without appointment. The last time the senior tech came was unannounced, he wanted to call in his people to clean up the mess and no one was going to be available in the home for them to do this. We never heard anything more from them. Now Christmas season 2017, boxes have fallen over on the air regulator and the duct transferring the air through the house has come apart from the machine leaving a huge leak of air. 2 winter storms so far in a week? No one has been in the attic since they did the work, except to document with pictures and to try to get decorations for the holidays... mainly cause no one can get into the attic because of the mess left behind. Early this morning I suspected something was causing the main part of the house to not have any heat so I went up the ladder, moved some boxes until I could actually see the unit and saw the problem leak area. We called the company because the site online says 24/7 service for emergencies. The woman called us back while I tried to describe the problem, she kept talking over me, and was clueless as to what I was telling her. Both my mother and my son have heart conditions, both with immune deficiencies and our home is not warming up and staying warm when it does barely warm. I tried to explain this to the woman who continued to ask who was going to be financially responsible if someone came...I told her they would be and explained why....She continued to talk over me, asking me questions and not letting me answer. She continued, telling me no one would be able to come until Monday. No that is not acceptable. I continued to get frustrated at her incompetence and told her to shut up and listen if she was going to ask me questions, she needed to give me a chance to answer. Finally after going back and forth for what felt like forever with her not listening or caring, she told me she was not going to deal with me and hung up on me. After this I called the main number for Aire Serv and spoke with a woman who as soon as I described the situation, knew exactly what I was talking about. In the end she called the woman I had the problems with and set us up for tomorrow, Sunday around 12:30 pm for service. I am currently seeking a lawyer to find out our rights, and to seek compensation for the trouble, mentally stressed, compensation for the labor of someone to help get the attic in order again from their mess, and compensation of anything broken IE Christmas decorations as several things have had to be replaced already having found a couple boxes near the entrance, some of which were heirlooms given to my mother by her mother-in-law who passed away this year. Last year Christmas decorations had to be bought because no one could get into the attic past the ladder to get them out, what ever is salvageable. Attached are pictures from the ladder and the ledge space just inside the attic. Can't get any further into the attic. My brother and I will be having to pull down this stuff tonight in order for the company to get in there and fix the leak. And for the record when they were contracted by the people from the weatherization, it was agreed no one here was capable of bringing all of the things up there down to the main house while they would be working up there. It was agreed someone would be coming to do this before the work ever started and no one came and did it. Things were knocked out of the attic as well, into the kitchen floor and broken while they were up there. The light switch cover was busted some how by them, which was also addressed, they were suppose to replace that as well and never did. All noted by the weatherization people AND the Housing Inspector within a month or less of them being here in the attic, some of it was reported while they were here literally. Such as they were told by the weatherization people to cover our belongings with plastic so that insulation wouldn't get into it after I saw it was knocked into the insulation and insulation in boxes where it shouldn't have been. Needless to say, they also left the plastic in the attic. The unit, etc. is still under warranty which they were suppose to give my mother the paper version of this, they did not. They said they were registering it online. If the warranty is in this house I have yet to see it. When we complained several times, we were told they never had any complaints about this company before. I told them there is always a first, and clearly from the previous reviews I have seen about them, I am NOT the first to complain about the company or their dispatcher for Easton, Md.

Response from Aire Serv Heating & Air Conditioning
Dear [Member Name Removed] This is the most unfair and inaccurate review ever posted about our company since our foundation. The only true statement in the review is "My mother qualified for Weatherization through Talbot Co." Everything else is a blatant lie. Our company was tasked by the Maryland DHCD Weatherization program to help your mother, Mrs. Phyllis Crotsley to restore her deteriorated HVAC system. The sealing and insulating of the home was completed by an Insulation contractor "AFTER" the HVAC work was completed. During the initial HVAC assessment, we determined the existing system was beyond economical repairs due to lack of maintenance and gross neglect. The air handler internals and evaporator coil were completely covered with dirt and nicotine slime. Practically, the system was too damaged. In the report sent to Maryland DHCD, we stated the requirement to also increase the size of the return ducts, but due to limited funds, they only approved the replacement of the air handler, outdoor heat pump condenser, auxiliary heat, and thermostat. We also found a lot of boxes stored on top of the ducts causing sagging and deformation of the fragile fiber board ducts. Additionally, we addressed the need to have the attic cleared in order for our crew to work in the attic. At that time you said you had nobody able to clear the attic. The insulation company made the commitment to remove the boxes in order for our company complete the system replacement. Our company did not handle any of the boxes blocking our work in the attic. The work was completed on 6/24/2016. During the inspection, the inspector from Maryland DHCD saw the need to modify the return ducts. The inspector recommended modifying the return ducts to include adding an additional return duct grille. A purchase order was sent to our company to conduct the additional modifications. The work was completed and inspected. All of this, at no cost to your mother. After the work was completed and inspected by DHCD, our company instructed you on how to maintain the new system and to never place boxes on top of the ducts. On July 20th 2017, you called to complain about the system not keeping up temperature. We sent a technician right away but he told in a very nasty manner to go away because he did not make an appointment. A couple of days later we returned and found a faulty outdoor sensor in the outdoor unit. This repair was completed the same day. As a matter of procedure, we inspected the air handler and filter. The air filter was very dirty and the internals of the air handler beginning to accumulate nicotine slime. The smell inside the equipment was terrible. The bacteria and fumes from cat and dog feces near the system return will cause early deterioration of the evaporator coil. At that time you were told to make sure the filters are replaced every month. Our company charged $0 for the service call even as the system is no longer under labor warranty. On the early evening of Saturday 12/16/2017 your mother called our office and left a message. Our on duty Customer Service Representative (CSR) called back to take care of the problem. At that time we had no availability, but we were going to do anything possible to take care of the problem first thing Monday morning. During the call you got upset, as you have done many times in the past, you continued to verbally assault the CSR. You called her obscene names which we can't write in a public forum. Our calls are recorded for training purposes. Your subsequent call to the Aire Serv corporate offices actually validated our stance that you are a very disrespectful and inconsiderate person. Based on the recorded conversation you treated them just as bad. On Sunday, 12/17/2017, our company went over to the home and found the duct separated from the air handler and the holding strap broken off. Seems like the duct was kicked or hit with enough force to rip it off the air handler and pull the strapping. Most likely done when someone getting the stuff out of the attic. We also noticed the thermostat set at 83 degrees with an actual temp of 82 degrees. Even with a separated supply plenum, the system was able to reach over 80 degrees. The stench in the home from the cats and dog feces was also unbearable. Our technician repaired the duct plenum, sealed and fixed the strapping. He also noticed the accumulated dirt inside the air handler. Again, the repairs were completed at no charge. Our technician was kicked out of the house with a couple "F" bombs after he reminded the two adult males in the home that the system has no free labor warranty and that our company was no longer going to service their home in the future. The unruly attitude coupled with the stench of nicotine and animal feces inside the home are health hazard to our employees. We reserve the right to service. After our company went out of our way to help your family, it is very unfortunate that you made the decision to use the web to make an attempt to damage our company with such vindictive and inaccurate review. We spoke to the insulation company and they told us about the nasty experience while servicing your home. Can't blame them for refusing to service your home again. Now, we will be contacting our legal team to determine the best course of action to fight the lies in your review. Any reasonable person reading this will see how inaccurate, wrong and, vindictive your review is. I wish you the best of luck finding a reputable and caring HVAC service provider. Sincerely, Efrain Velazquez Service Manager Aire Serv of the Eastern Shore

The owner Efrain is fantastic to deal with. He is honest, offers very reasonable prices, is timely, professional, and an overall pleasure to deal with. We had some work on our old house done by Efrain about 6 years ago and were very pleased with him and the quality of his work. Efrain is very knowledgable and will not try to push things on you that you don't need. I would wholeheartedly recommend Aire Serv to anyone looking to have HVAC work done.
Description of Work: Installed new heat pump, gas furnace, whole home humidifier, additional registers and ducts.
