Pricing was competitive, work was done in a timely manner. Patio and landscaping looked good on completion in June 2013. After only a couple of months, however, most of the bushes were showing significant distress, even though we watered them faithfully, as the company's owner, Pete Merski, advised. Within another month, all but one or two were dead. Additionally, lawn areas dug up by the company's equipment failed to regrow grass as we were led to believe they would. Mr. Merski's response (replantings/seeding) to correct this was slow, with no action being taken until May of 2014. It was at this time that I noticed for the first time that Mr. Merski's crew, rather than dispose of the demo'ed cement from the stoop, had instead shoved it (large heavy blocks) under the existing deck, hidden from view. I pointed this out to Mr. Merski who told me that he would have it properly removed. Since then, while most of the replantings appear healthy, one of the laurels has died. Mr. Merski has failed to respond to emails (including photo) and voice messages (at least four of each) throughout the course of this summer to install another laurel and remove the chunks of cement . He has our money and seems to consider his obligations to professionally close out the job, therefore, complete. I would not use his services again, and would not recommend him to others.
Description of Work: Demo'ed small cement stoop. Installed a patio, put down sod, installed three laurel bushes, six azaleas, and new wooden steps and handrails.

I found them on Angie's List so I figured it out that if they are there they had to be reputable. They are very professional and gave me the quote right away.
Description of Work: I got a quote from Greener Horizons Landscaping. It was gonna be a retaining wall.

Everything was great- I really liked working with Pete. He was upfront about cost and we feel that we had a top notch outcome. Our front walkway looks fantastic and all of the plantings around are looking good, too. Now that we're getting to spring (finally), I am excited to see how all of the plants come back to life. I would highly recommend Pete and his team.

We went with the pavers because if there was any damage you can just replace the area needed compared to the concrete that would get cracks. We also have them back around every June to re-mulch the beds. The company that installed our whole house generator, which is about 5'x2', suggested the pavers inclosing it. Greener Horizons Landscaping made it look really nice and tied it in with the flower beds.
Description of Work: They had originally put in pavers. My husband chipped a couple of the pavers when he was mowing. They came right out and replaced them at no cost.
The Greener Horizons Landscaping Crew arrived promptly and set to work. They removed the large overgrown Magnolia Tree and the scraggly boxwood hedges. They were able to save the azaleas, and they moved them to the rear of my house. New soil was added, and the colorful plants were carefully placed and mulched. I now have color year round from blooming spring plants to colorful leaves to berries for the birds in the fall. The old brick sidewalk was removed. The old bricks were stacked behind my shed ready to be used for edging in my vegetable garden. The pavers went down. I now have a beautiful wide curved walk leading to the front door. The pavers are a blessing. My husband tends to make wide turns when mowing the grass and had clipped the corner of one of the pavers. Mr. Merski came right out and replaced the paver. If I had had a concrete walk, the chip would have required a whole section be replaced. Shoveling snow on the pavers is a breeze--no problem. I wish I had had this work done sooner. The Greener Horizons Crew comes back each spring to mulch the beds and trim what needs to be done to keep things looking super. I visited Mr. Merski's booth at the Home Show in Charles County recently. They now install lighted pavers. I can just see several pavers along that wide curved front walk just lighting the way to the front door.
Description of Work: Our house was built in the 1980's. It had not had any updates of the original landscaping since the house was originally built. The previous owners had put in trees and shrubs that had completely overgrown the planting beds as well as the old and woren brick front sidewalk. Mr. Merski designed a plan that truly created a new and beautiful first impression of the front of our home. His computer program really helped us visualize what he thought would work for our home. The plantings reflected the changes of the seasons by bringing fantastiac color to the landscaping year round. He made sure the vegetation included plants that would deter the many deer that visit from the nearby woods from nibbling on what was planted. The front walk was replaced with wonderful pavers. You were able to select the color of the pavers as well as the design. We have gotten numerous wonderful comments on the work that was done.
