Presto Electric

I enlisted the help from a friend to set up a ceiling fan and it blew out the lights on the second floor. Little did I know he was not an electrician. I immediately call Presto without thinking of using the yellow pages or google. Mr. Richard immediately answered the phone. As we discuss the problem, I felt comfortable sharing my concerns regarding safety in the home. He assured me it would be okay although I worried a little prior to him coming out to investigate. I used Presto services back in 1998 and felt comfortable calling them again. Mr. Richard was very professional, and knowledgeable regarding the work that had to be performed and showed me what had to be repaired. On the first day of providing an estimate, I trusted that he would get the job done. He always sends an email prior to coming out and call to give an estimation of arrival. Mr. Richard perform an inspection of the housing outlets, took notes and sat down to go over what needed repair and replacement. What I love about the service I received is honesty, integrity and workmanship which Mr. Richard provided. He even brought his own broom and dust pan!! I called that service!! I am staying with Presto Electric and I am truly Satisfied 100 % !!

Needed 2 outlets in the kitchen grounded. Was able to get an appointment within the same week. My favorite technician arrived on time and completed the work quickly. We discussed the best way to get the job done right. The tech even recommended to not do something I requested because it was not needed under code. The price was right. This was the 4th time I have called Presto Electric and as long as they are there, I will call them again.

The team at Presto Electric did a great job repairing an accidentally cut electrical circuit. They also added an addition lighting feed for a new ceiling fan installation and connection to the wall switch. Richard and Bryce were very professional and helpful in identifying the scope of work to be performed and providing a very reasonable estimate to complete the job. We would definitely recommend them for electrical projects and would call them again for any additional electrical work we require. Mark and Zach Wagner

Everything needed by provider was here when he arrived, DID NOT have use anything from truck. The reason service was required is that switch was a tad larger than original which made it not fit (using simple screwdriver). Upon arrival we looked at wall switch, then I was quoted a price of $256. Okay, I thought maybe there would be something that I was unable to do. We went in basement to turn off the circuits, after viewing the switch, I was asked if I had the directions to switch installation (I did), then I was told "each switch is different" (meaning every switch is installed differently, I guess). Alright let's get started on installing the switch, now I was told "to install switch we have to use an extension". This was a large white plastic box that would allow the switch to set away from wall, did not go with décor of room. I asked "what is this?", he explained it was an extension need to install switch, I told him no we don't want that. My wife would had been furious with me to see this large white plastic frame around switch. He then suggested compressing the wire which may short out, that's what I want was my answer (my original reason for calling). Since you don't want the extension, I'll deduct $20 from bill, okay let's move on, there was no deduction from using the switch that I purchased, nor was there deduction for doing nothing more than using a power screwdriver to complete job. Charging by the job and not by the hour is a lot of crap, I was charged $236 for someone to use a power screwdriver for less tan 15 minutes. NEVER AGAIN

We had used this company years ago and were very happy with the quality, price and professionalism. The man on the website (http://www.prestoelectric.com/)was the man we previously used. My husband hired this company, thinking it was the same people. It was not. The price to me seemed really high, but my husband trusted the company. After the first visit, doing some work, the electrician was hard to reach. He would not return phone calls or emails, and still has not. To date we do not have electricity in my kitchen, nor have we since he put in the new electric box. It has been since June, over 3 months, with no working stove, wall oven or microwave! I contacted BGE myself to finally get them to schedule an appointment to run electricity to the new box, which the electrician should have done. This is unacceptable. Beware! This company has changed!

I had Presto Electric come out and remove old knob and tube electrical that was in my attic. I had called them over the weekend and explained my situation. I am having my attic insulated later this week, but in order to do so the company doing it requires that the knob and tube be removed for safety reasons. Presto was not only able to come out on Monday review the work and give me an estimate, but given the urgent need to have this completed, they were kind enough to fit me into their schedule and came out and did the work immediately. I could not be more grateful for their flexibility, professionalism and great pricing. I had received several quotes from other firms and went with Presto based on their ratings after researching them on several review sites. Would recommend them to anyone!

They're always nice, punctual and clean up well after themselves. While they are not inexpensive, I trust them with the work. Their prices are competitive.

iThe electrician came out to the house and inspected my circuit breaker box after hearing that we have had occasional breaker trip offs. He recommended, as expected, that we upgrade our 30 year old electrical service. He stated that Presto does not charge by the hour but instead charges by the job. He quoted us a price of about $4,500 and we agreed. He was out the next day and started the work. Here's my complaints: He left work that day without turning the power back onto my freezer. I noticed it the next day and immediately turned the freezer back on. When he arrived two days later, I told him about leaving the freezer turned off and he said that he had left it on and it was nothing more than a "power spike" that caused the outage in the freezer. Having more than a basic knowledge of electricity I knew it was BS, told him so and, to my fault, I should have told him to leave just then and call Presto. The work took approximately 3 days, and on the last day, he told me that he doesn't see anything wrong with piggy-backing cables in the circuit boxes but one county inspector disagrees and he hopes that particular inspector isn't the one to show up to approve the work. I told him that I don't agree with him and he said he is finished with the job. When a inspector showed up I was going to bring up the piggy back arrangement immediately, but I didn't have to. The inspector knew this guy and wasn't surprised. So, the inspection failed, the electrician returned mumbled and cursed, and supposedly fixed the problem. The inspector returned found the problem not completely fixed, the electrician returned cursed some more, tried to get nasty with me, and finally the inspection passed on the inspector's next visit. It turned out six years later my daughter called Presto to have minor electrical work done on her house and the electrician did some damage (I wish I could remember exactly what it was) and he swore it wasn't him. Anyway, we have never called Presto back and never will.

I took my vacation time from work to wait at home for the electrician. He arrived on time, then charged me $29 just for the trip fee. He said he couldn't replace the light, but I could schedule another time for him to come out and do that. I was very surprised, because that was the whole reason I had made the original appointment! $29 for nothing, and a waste of my vacation hours. I wil not use this company again.

Called Presto (very lovely woman on phone) and was advised that service call was $59. I agreed to that. They sent a technician out within an hour. Very pleased about that. When he arrived he told me it would be an additional $238 for the "diagnostic testing." Within 5 minutes he was back in house and problem was fixed. He had pressed a hidden reset button (which I could not find) to correct the problem...and then spent an additional 20 minutes telling me my system should be updated (for an additional $900) and how the government runs all the big electric companies. I feel that the $238 was exorbitant for the service performed. I had used Presto several years ago and remember being quite satisfied with their prices at that time. Never again.

They were a very good company. The man installing the lights came when he said he would and he was professional and very polite. He cleaned up any mess when finished and I am satisfied with his work.

I thought that they were incredibly expensive for what they did. The man doing the work was nice and personable, but their prices were too high.

I told them "no thank you" - I'd find someone who would not charge to just show up at my home.

We have used Presto before. The work is top quality, it is not unusual for them to spot something else, and take care of it for you. They are prompt, show up on time, courteous while working in the house, and, we consider them worth the price since the quality of the work is outstanding. We would use them again in a moment. I give them an A.

I HAD TAKEN THE DAY OFF OF WORK TO MAKE SURE I WAS HERE WHEN THEY GUARANTEED THEY WOULD BE HERE. THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL TO LET ME KNOW THEY WERE COMING AND IF I WAS NOT HERE THEY WOULD NOT SHOW. THEY DID CALL AND STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO MAKE IT OUT TODAY (03/20/2007) AND WHEN I ASKED TO RESCHEDULE AT A BETTER TIME FOR MY SCHEDULE, THEY REFUSED .

I set up a time, the company rep asked me if I owned home, but did not tell me that the owner needed to be present. Electrician refused to come at appt time because my mother was there and not me. Rescheduled. Also told that if service was refused after problem diagnosed, that we would only owe $29.50 for travel costs and that it would be done that day and that we would definitely know the cost. Electrician came and said it would be $2000, could not be done that day, and could end up costing more. Then he wanted $200 for diagnosing problem. Avoid this company. They are unprofessional and unethical.

They showed up on time and got the job done. "Frank" was very couteous and knowledgable. Cost was a little "pricey" but he was there most of the day.

They tried to sell me things that I did not needed. I told them that they had already installed some things they were telling me I needed. They sent me a coupon, but I decided I would never use them again.

I did not use this company because their quote was $4,000 more than others. The breaker panel 150A was $2,034 and the other quotes I got were $1,600. The other company has performed the work and did a very good job.

They did an excellent job! In and out in one day! I was very impressed! Very polite and helpful! They were just a little on the pricey side.

They were nice, and helpful. They were very business like. They are not cheap, but I needed someone to straiten it out. I was desperate. They worked with me and were very nice about doing it.

VERY PROFESSIONAL PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY THE OFFICE STAFF. PROMPT RESPONSE TO MY CALL, RETURNED ASAP AND THE ELECTRICIAN WAS ALSO MORE THAN HELPFUL. HE ALSO DID A FEW EXTRA THINGS IN MY HOUSE WHILE HE WAS THERE. WELL WORTH THE EXTRA CHARGE FOR THE EMERGENCY CALL.

I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE WORK. THEY EXPLAINED ALL THE WORK THAT WAS GOING TO BE DONE. THE WORKERS ARE VERY CONSIDERATE & ON TIME. THE COMPANY ALSO CHARGES BY THE JOB, NOT THE HOUR.
