Highly professional duo. Efficient and informative. Smart! Definitely will use them again for installation jobs (hopefully not problems) as needed. Prompt. Easy to work with the scheduling and the office communicated well with me regarding when I should expect them to arrive without my having to sit around for four hours and guess.
Description of Work: Clogged in-concrete drain with leaky connection. Cleared drain, cut out part of pipe and repaired leak. Did not use any chemicals to do this; much appreciated.

BGE told us specifically to get plumber (not appliance repair) to fix gas leak coming from connection to oven. We called Erickson based on positive reviews on Angie's List. They came out same day took one look and told us we needed appliance repair, explained why and said to have a happy new year... no charge! Could not have been any nicer if they tried. Thank you so much for being a good guy and happy new year to you too. Will 100% call Erickson next time we need a plumber.

Had serious between-floor leaks from 2nd floor bathroom in recently purchased rowhome. Contacted Erickson Plumbing. Made appointment to assess job within two days. Mr. Erickson came out personally to survey job. Found old cast iron waste pipe to be sloping in wrong direction due to settling of home. This apparently had caused water and waste residue to be constantly present in tub and sink horizontal drains, ultimately leading to corrosion and leaks. Received cost estimate and statement of work on the spot. Mr. Erickson and crew scheduled the work to commence within 7 days. Entirely satisfied with the work performed and overall experience with company. Mr Erickson actually returned to assist with toilet installation without additional charge. I highly recommend this company, and will call them again with any future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Replaced remaining cast iron waste pipe with PVC from 2nd floor bathroom to previously installed/replaced PVC waste midway between 1st floor ceiling and basement. Required opening 2 x 2 ft. section of wall in kitchen. Replaced old metal drain pipes from tub and sink with PVC and connected to new PVC waste pipe. Installed new tie-in piping for toilet connection. Installed new toilet shut-off. Hauled away trash.

The company was very responsive. The plumber came exactly when scheduled (and they gave me only a one hour window, not a four hour one like some companies - that makes me crazy!) He was friendly, clearly knew what he was doing, fixed the problem immediately and even went farther by telling me that my water heat was too high and helping me reset the thermostat. He gave me the angie's list discount without my having to ask. I would call them again in a heartbeat.

Initially, I called to have a leaking toilet repaired, but Ken explained that the toilet, which was very old, had a crack in the tank and needed to be replaced. I took his advice and also decided to replace an old toilet in my basement bathroom. Ken accommodated my work schedule and came back in a couple of days with the new toilets. Unfortunately, after installing the bases, he discovered that his supplier had sent the wrong tank tops! He immediately called and arranged to meet them halfway to get the correct tanks. Although the job was taking longer than anticipated, everything was going well, and his co-worker finished installation of the basement toilet. Then I heard the dreaded words "Oh, no!" from the upstairs bathroom. The toilet base had a crack at the point where the tank rests on it, and when Ken touched it, the piece broke off in his hand. Unfortunately, the distributor did not have another toilet in the same size, so we had to put off completion of the job until today. There are several reasons why, despite the unfortunate problems with the supplier, I will most definitely use Erickson Plumbing again. First, Ken was thoroughly professional and pleasant to deal with, as was his co-worker. When he reviewed my options for repair versus replacement of the toilet, he did not pressure me and carefully explained the various choices I had in terms of quality and size of the new fixture. Second, when he discovered that the basement installation required some additional parts, he did not charge me for them. In addition, he was clearly distressed by the multiple problems with the supplier and repeatedly apologized, though clearly it was not his fault. I chose Erickson Plumbing based on the reviews in Angie's list, and I'm delighted to add my praise to the chorus. I should also mention that Phyllis Erickson, who scheduled the appointments and called to let me know when Ken would arrive, was a delight to work with. All in all, this was a very positive experience.

On Tuesday work was scheduled for Wednesday, but he got hung up on his previous job and rescheduled for Thursday. It took him a while, but he finally got the drain cleared. There were wood chips stuck in the drain. As part of the process he replaced the pipes from the floor to the laundry tub in order to add a clean-out: he said he wouldn't be able to snake the old pipe. It was an extra $15 for that, but now we have a convenient clean-out for that drain. We got a %10 discount for Angie's list, so that covered the cost of the clean-out.

Ken Erickson was extremely professional, knowledgable, efficient and unflappable during the whole job. We were unsure what we would find beneath the floor and he did a great job of giving us the good and the bad throughout the repair. In the end we were lucky but from the estimate to the repair we were very pleased.
Description of Work: He repaired a cracked sewer pipe in the basement. This required jackhammering into the cement floor in order to expose the pipe beneath the crack. He cut out the bad pipe, made the repair, filled the hole and replaced the cement floor.

The plumber was right on time for both the estimate and the service. His did good work, was professional and friendly, and cleaned up very well. The work did cost $40 over the estimate because our flange was broken. The plumber explained that they can't tell if the flange is broken until they remove the old toilet. That is reasonable, and I didn't mind paying a little extra for the extra work, but it would have been nice to know about that possibility ahead of time. Overall, though, I was very pleased with the work and would use them again.

My tenant notified me of a minor leak below the toilet -- not a real emergency, just a nuisance and future potential for water damage. My first choice of plumber was unable to do the job and the plumber he recommended did not return my call. I contacted Erickson based on Angie's List reviews. I spoke with Phyllis to set up an appointment. She was very helpful and professional. She said that the plumber would call my tenant prior to arrival (for final directions) and call me with a quote before making the repairs. It all went as planned, except the plumber called me for directions instead of my tenant. This was no problem and I should have set it up this way in the first place. The job was finished quickly and Phyllis was able to email me a receipt for my records.

We had an outside spigot that would not turn off, unless turned off the water source inside the basement. When the plumber came out, he gave an initial estimate of $300, thinking it was a somewhat complicated replacement. However, once he opened up the pipe and saw the details, he said it would actually be easier than he thought, and only charged $200. We were very impressed that he was honest with us and was willing to lower the price. The finished product looks great and works very well. We'll definitely consider Erickson Plumbing in the future!

The kitchen sink was clogged. We rented a snake and tried and tried to clear it. The house is old and we finally gave in and called Erickson and one other plumber (Saffer--who has still never returned our call) late on Sunday night. We left a message and by 7:40 a.m. on Monday morning Phyllis, from Erickson, called to say that someone would be out between 8 & 9 am. T.R. arrived at 8:30. He listened to our problem and took his time to correctly evaluate the problem. Before deciding that the rather large job was necessary T.R. studied the plumbing and sought advice from the Boss to expertly diagnose our problems. By 10:30, Ken showed up to lend a hand and the entire project was completed by 1:30 that same afternoon. As previously stated, this is an OLD house. Ken made some suggestions to improve the ancient and improper plumbing and sump pump drainage systems and completed those tasks expertly and for a fair price. The guys from Erickson were careful to lay drop cloths to protect the carpet and were patient in their explanations of our issues. They went about their business in a very professional and polite way and I put their number on the fridge for the next time. We would highly recommend this company for your plumbing needs.

Ken Erickson was recommended as an expert to redesign my plumbing infrastructure. My home had undergone a master bedroom suite renovation, including the installation of a two hundred gallon jetted tub. Unfortunately, the GC for the project did not anticipate the need for additional volume of hot water and higher pressure. Ken was able to design a system utilizing three tankless water heaters, slaved together, a constant pressure pump, and a recirculating line. The result is the ability to fully fill the tub in twelve minutes (it took almost two hours previously) and a steady, endless supply of hot water in the home. Additionally, we now have the added benefit of high water pressure throughout the house. Since the installation of the system, Ken has been to my home any number of times working on other plumbing related issues (warranty service, sink disposal systems, and general maintenance). Ken has been unfailingly professional and polite and has responded to my needs in a timely manner. Ken is a talented and knowledgeable craftsman. His prices are commensurate with his skill. So if you're looking for cheap, you'll have to look elsewhere.

Although the job was completed and 6 months of living in the house has produced no problems yet, there were numerous problems during the construction phase, though not entirely the fault of Erickson Plumbing. The first plumber, Mike, who started running all the piping, worked fast and was competent but had a very stubborn personality and thus was extremely difficult to work with. I had to file a complaint against him for inappropriate comments to my wife and on a few occassions he got into very heated arguments with my father over the logic and quality of his work. After things went sour with Mike, he intentionally sabotaged much of the plumbing that he installed, running supply lines where he was told not to (like over electrical panels--a code violation), and drain lines through framed openings intended for mirror vanities. This ultimately required his boss (Ken Erickson) to come out and rerun or move several lines, which he was very willing to do. Another problem we had was a lack of communication between our HVAC (Coldspring), and Erickson to establish where plumbing and hvac lines would be placed. We tried to get both contractors in at the same time before the job started to ensure clear communication, but neither company was willing to schedule a meeting time, prefering to start working and let the other company work around them. A huge problem came up when it was discovered that noone ran a condensation line for our furnaces and in the end it became a standoff between the companies, neither one willing to accept responsibility for connecting the furnace condensate lines to a drain line. This left me in the middle with no options and a very critical plumbing issue that was not solved. In spite of adamantly claiming that Coldspring was responsible, Ken did help us out by connecting the condensate line to a sink drain. This solution was highly undesireable and technically a bad idea that could result in future problems of leaking or back-clogging. The only other solution would have been to rip open drywall channels throughout the entire house, re-run a new condensate line from the third floor to the basement, connecting all furnaces and repatch the drywall. Clearly not a favorable option, so we were forced to settle for aconnection into the bathroom sink drain below the p-trap. So far no leaks or clogs, so I am feeling optimistic about the solution. Ken is a very talented, hardworking plumber, has a very respectful and hard-working crew (except for Mike). On a few occassions I got into some very heated arguements with Ken over the improper and problematic plumbing done by Mike, but on these occassions, Ken did everything he could to fix the problem and in spite of our disagreements, he completed the job, fulfilled his contract, took resonsibility for mistakes, and was willing to work with me (including replacing an electric water heater element when it broke inside the furnace, leaving me with no hot water). Although the plumbing problems we encounterd during the construction phase resulted in an uncertain and slightly tense conclusion to the job, Ken Erickson's willingness to work his hardest to correct mistakes greatly restored my faith in his company's integrity...and after 7 months of living in the house (and at least a year of using the plumbing) I've had no problems at all with any leaks, clogs or bad water pressure. I most likely would hire this company again.
Description of Work: Erickson new supply (cpvc) and DWV piping, as well as flexible gas lines throughout our 3 story open framed row home which was sub-divided into three separate apartments. Each apt has its own kitchen, water heater and bathroom so Erickson had to plumb all three kitchens, install three water heaters, all toilets and sinks. They also redug a drain line to the city connection in the alley and connected it there.

Ken and TR were on top of all it. With rare exceptions they were always prompt and when crises elsewhere supervened, I received a timely call from one of them or the very capable and pleasant Phyllis. Ken and TR, unlike other plumbers with whom I've had experience, were ultra-concerned about not violating the structural integrity of the building. Ken, in particular was a source of good referral for other personnel as the needs arose and many needs arose. I was very much NOT in my best humor during all of this but they never lost their professionalism or their civility.
Description of Work: This started out as some leaking pipes that had been installed by a different (highly rated on Angie's List, I see) plumber in a house in which I intended to do some modest renovations. It developed that the bathroom sink drain was plugged. Exposing the involved drain pipe led to the discovery of very serious structural flaws in the kitchen ceiling/bathroom floor and step by step to a total renovation of the bathroom and the kitchen. In addition the cast iron pipe to the sewer had rusted through and the sewer line itself was slanted the wrong way from settlement of this 99 year old house. Solid blocks of cement had to be jackhammered and replaced.

He was on time (a little early, even), and very friendly and professional. Examined the situation, consulted with his supervisor on the phone to confirm the best way to deal with the slightly complicated situation, then provided me with a written estimate. I appreciated an estimate for the entire job after having previous negative experiences with plumbers taking their time as they were paid by the hour. He completed the job quickly.

Description of Work: Erickson Plumbing came out to investigate a leaky kitchen sink. It was determined that we needed a new faucet. The plumber accompied me to the local supply store, helped me pick out a new facet. He then installed the new facet at my house. I also had the plumber investigate what appeared to be another leak. After extensive review, no leaks were found and we determined the culprit (contractors working on removing wallpaper).

Estimate and job went well. Rick (estimator) was very helpful and courteous at estimate.. Crew showed up bright and early, but I was slightly annoyed that I had to re-explain the details of the job. This may be because original scheduled digger was unavailable and the crew that showed up was called last minute. Crew worked fast, were extremely careful inside my house, worked the excavator well in a tight spot, were okay with my hovering and asking questions, and worked the job to my satisfaction. They even returned a few days later to raise the cleanout to meet the newly poured concrete pad. Overall I would recommend Erickson and would definitely use them again. Thanks! -TR
