What a wonderful company to deal with. Family owned and operated. They know what they are doing. The entire team showed up and did the entire job in a couple of hours, leaving the yard cleaner than when they started. This much work has usually been an all-day job for other firms. The entire team was knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. Lots of good suggestions. Absolutely would use again.

We love Schifflett's tree service. We have been using them for years (way before Angie's list). They arrived on time, were very efficient and professional. We had several very large trees that were dead and potentially dangerous. We also had some large branches that were getting too close to the house and causing siding and gutter damage.They took down the large trees, cut the trunks to 16", and left them (at our request) for firewood. They would have hauled them away if we didn't want them. They removed the branches and also chipped the smaller stuff and left us a mulch pile - also at our request. There were 10 people on the job and it was finished in about 3 hours. They are careful with our property and left it very clean. We wouldn't use anyone else.

I found Shifflett on AngiesList where they get very high ratings. I emailed them and heard back very quickly. The next day they came out to give me an estimate to get all my front bushes removed. The price was right and by the end of the day the bushes were gone. Since mine was a sorta small project, they were able to fit me in quickly in between bigger jobs. I cannot believe how easy this was!

Overall, I was satisfied with the quality of service provided with the Shifflett's, and I prefer to do business with a family-operated business. In late May I called the office and scheduled an appointment for Mr. Shifflett to come to my home to look at the tree in question and to give me an estimate for its removal. Mr. Ernie Shifflett came out on Tuesday, June 2 and arrived promptly when scheduled. He confirmed that the tree needed to be removed and also looked at several others that were still fine. He told me that his sister would be calling me the following week to schedule the work. He gave me a written estimate of $3,000 to remove the tree. I gave him a deposit of $100. I felt the cost was high, but after doing some research, I didn't feel I would save a great deal more and since their reviews were outstanding, I felt the cost was worth it for my peace of mind, as the tree was very close to the house and the electric lines. I realized that I forgot to give Mr. Shifflett my $100 off coupon from Angie's List, so I called the office and spoke with his sister (I am sorry I forget her name), and she took the $100 off. On Friday, June 5, I noticed yellow spray paint and flags from the gas company showing where my gas line was located, so I assumed everything was proceeding. By Thursday, June 16 I still had not heard when my work would be scheduled. I called the office, and the sister told me that storms and heavy rains had created a lot of emergency work and that she was having trouble getting me on the schedule. She also said that the gas company had not yet been out to mark the line. I explained to her that they had indeed already been out and when. She told me she would have to look for their e-mail. By Tuesday, June 23, I still had no word as to when my work would be scheduled. I called again and again the sister said the storms and rain were causing difficulty in getting my work scheduled. I explained that I was tired of waiting. She said she would schedule the work for the next Tuesday, June 30, but that I would have to understand if we got cancelled due to rain or storms. I told her I did not understand because I was proactively trying to have my tree taken down before it fell down due to a storm. I strongly believe "emergency" work was taking precedence over my scheduled work. She said that her brother makes the call each morning whether they will work each day. They did come on June 30 and did an excellent job.

Shifflets Tree Service responded to my request quickly to set up an appointment to come out and look at the tree. He arrived when he said he would arrive. He answered all my questions and gave me an oral estimate. He offered to give a written estimate if I wanted it. The estimate was on the high side, but after receiving other estimates, we decided to hold off taking down the tree because we were told that the tree is healthy. I would consider using Shifflets service and if the price is right I would be comfortable using Shifflets.

Excellent experience - they are very punctual and professional. Not only was the tree trimming done very well, I believe our yard was cleaner after they left than before they arrived. I would not hesitate to recommend them to friends and colleagues and would certainly use them again in our yard.

Shifflet pruned several mature trees from my front, side and back yards. They cut down two evergreen trees, one was a giant tree which shaded one quarter of my yard, and another smaller dogwood which was not in good condition. Several trees had branches which were perilously close to my house and a bad storm would probably cause them to fall and damage my house. In total, five trees were pruned and three were completely cut down and the stumps were ground up leaving sawdust and my yard cleaner than it was when they started. The giant evergreen had overwhelmed my yard and blocked sunlight into my home. The recommendation that it be completely cut down was a welcome change as now more natural light enters my home now. Another company had asked me to apply for a permit and to pay for it in advance. Because I work full time, I did not have the time to take off from work and apply for a permit. Shifflet informed me that I did not have to apply for a permit in my part of the county, since all of the trees are on my property. Shifflet has done other work for me, but it has been several years. I am glad that I returned to this company. They are extremely professional and they do not disappoint. They are great. They are a good company. They live in our area. They are quick and efficient; they don?t mess around. They?ve been doing it forever.

They turned out great. They were perfect. I was very pleased with them. They returned my calls promptly, they scheduled an appointment for the next day, they came as scheduled, they gave me an estimate and I got 2 additional estimates and they were the best in terms of price, contents and professionalism and then I told them to start the work and they did it while I was away at a meeting and they completed it as scheduled. They did a superb job and I sent them a cheque.

They did a great job. Both the price and the quality of work were very good.

They did a nice job, generally and are very efficient. I think they are expensive, but they did not completely clean the gutter out where the debris from the tree came down. I was not overjoyed with that. I thought it was a high price and for that price I thought everything should have been taken care of. I did not shop around for prices so I don't really know.

Everything from beginning to end was fantastic. They had the best estimate. The people who put in the fence did a perfect job and it is absolutely stunning. The cleaned up everything after themselves. The owner came and we talked. I had 4 different bids for the fence. I decided I wanted to go with them but they were sort of in the middle with the estimate. I called to see if he could meet or beat it. He beat it so they got the contract. They were terrific. They were really above and beyond what I expected. They did it in 2 days and it was really hot but they worked right through the heat. They worked until the sun set. It was just wonderful. I had absolutely no complaints and I felt very comfortable with them. I watched everything and it was fascinating. They were real pros and they used quality materials. He had his own warehouse to cure all the wood he uses. They have been around for a long time. I was so impressed with him and his bid ended up being quite a bit less than the other 3 bids. He gave me the day they would start and they were there at 7 am. I had very minor modifications as they were going along and they did them as they went along, which was really refreshing. The two workers were very professional and they obviously had been doing this for a long time. They were very tidy as they went along. They kept everything covered so they didn't even get sawdust on my grass. The fence is guaranteed for life. I have referred them to my friends and they were able to give out business cards to my neighbors who came up. It is not an ordinary fence, it is a designer fence. They can do anything with fencing and everything is anchored in 3 feet cement.

It was an excellent experience. We've had them for several years. Mr. Shifflett is an outgoing guy and he supervises the work. He makes sure that every is trimmed correctly. They are very, very good. I can't say anything negative about them. I will definitely use them again.

Shifflett and his crew arrived on-time and the job was done in a few hours. They really do nice work. Efficient, always clean-up the mess after they are done. Left me some firewood as I had requested. Will also leave free raw mulch, if requested. Used a wood chipper to grind all debris. Also ground out the tree stumps, that was part of the deal. Good work.

Mr. Shifflett and his crew arrived as scheduled. They worked very efficiently around our yard. Mr. Shifflett supervised and helped to make certain that all the work we had detailed and that he had suggested was done well. They cleaned up all trimmings & left our lawn clean. We are very, very pleased with a job very well done!

It went very well - I called on a Wednesday and they were able to fit me in 2 days later. The team of men were very efficient and cleaned up the trimmings - nothing left behind. I would recommend them in the future.

The team was exceptional. Thier experience showed when everyone knew where to drop and not drop logs and branches. They did precision cuts to insure nothing such as our house or our landscaping was damaged during the work. A couple trees were 100 feet tall and one was almost 5 foot in diameter at the base. This large tree was also leaning towards our house and was over our septic tank. They dropped this tree in pieces such that nothing was damaged (not even close). The team worked exceptional together and Mr Shifflett was on site the whole time to make sure the crew did the job as requested. The whole team was professional and was very customer oriented. They took pride in their work and worked exceptionally hard. They cleaned up after themselves and made sure they left the area in better condition than when they arrived. This crew was outstanding and I would highly recommend them for any tree cutting services. They are the best value of anyone out there.

We live in an HOA neighborhood. We were notified by the HOA that we needed to trim our large trees. We called Shifflett in Rockville since we've used them before. The owner came out and checked our property. After agreeing to a price he said he noticed a dead tree on the green space that is maintained by the HOA and said we needed to contact them right away as he was afraid it would fall. He said in his 30+ years of experience, he thought this was high priority. We scheduled our service and agreed on a date. We called the HOA and they sent someone out, marked the tree but didn't cut it down. Two weeks later we had a storm and heard a horrible crash! The tree that Mr. Shifflett warned us about FELL DOWN! It missed our house by inches and put a major dent in the ground. It also missed our air conditioning unit. Needless to say the HOA was out the next day cleaning up! The shifflett tree service knows their business.. We never would have known about this other problem unless we called Shifflett! We will use them again in the future.

We called him again when the June 29 storm put a piece of a good, healthy tree thru our roof. Affter that was taken care of we needed time to think about the tree. We decided to have it removed in the fall. When Mr Shifflett arrived with his crew, he said did not want to remove the tree, it was healthy and happy. But i was so scared of it after the experience in June. He took time to talk to me and calm my fears. Although he would have made more money doing what i asked for, he offered what he thought was the right thing to do. Come summer i am sure i will be happy the tree is still there. His crew is amazing to watch, they work like they were born in the tree.. every piece is tied off and lowered on the exact spot, nothing dropped. We would never use any other company.

They actually brought in a crane to take down the top of some trees off. They had larger machines and chippers to take care of everything that was smaller. They were nice and efficient.

They did great work. They showed up almost immediately. I was very happy with the service. The price was high, but the work they did was excellent.

I think their prices are fair, do an excellent job of doing what they say they are going to do and are knowledgeable. I also thought they cleaned up well after themselves. I can't say anything negative about this family owned business as we have used them many times.

Mr. Ernest Shifflett came to assess the work during the exact window of time promised, which was just a few hours after we called. This was a Saturday morning. One of our trees had been damaged in a storm the night before. He gave us an estimate which we thought was reasonable and said the company could do the work the following Monday, which happened to be Memorial Day. A large crew came to do the work on the holiday. The job required a worker to be up in the tree with chain saw. The cutter was skilled. Broken limbs were lowered by rope, and ends of remaining limbs trimmed. The crew worked fast to carry branches out to the street to the chipper. They even carried away a large pile of yard cuttings by our garage that were not part of the job. The yard was cleaned of all leaves and debris. The whole job was done in less than an hour.
