He and his helper cut the countertops & baseboard/kickboard; shaved the space on one side and painted the cut side of the countertop to blend with the color of the top. The gap ended up being a bit wider than needed but blends in well. Almost everyone else we contacted wanted to replace the countertops completely and do a lot more demo work.
Description of Work: We had a unusually sized drop in stove (slightly smaller than usual) and when we replaced our cabinets (using another contractor) we asked that they put spacers around the opening so that when we replaced it we could go with a regular size. They didn't end up leaving the amount of space needed so we had to figure out how to widen the gap for a slide-in stove of regular size without having to get all new countertops and cabinet sides. He took the time to get the stove to look level (the contractor also put them in unevenly).

We had started a fairly comprehensive renovation of our master bathroom, and encountered some things that we knew we couldn't handle ourselves. I had such a great experience with Rusty a bit over 2 years ago, that he was the first call I made. He was at my house the next day, and gave me a very fair price to put in a brand new shower, finish the grout on the tub surround, and finish some drywall projects we'd started several months ago. As the work progressed, I was reminded about how good Rusty's guys are - so we tacked on a few additional items from our wish list. Rusty was awesome throughout - he even went to the Tile Store to pick up a threshold we'd purchased for the shower to save us the trip! Rusty's price quote was accurate to the penny. He gave me a fair updated quote each time I added a few items. I always knew whether his guys were showing up the next day, and his guys always cleaned up the job site when they headed out each evening. The work is professional and looks great!

This was in our kids bathroom, and we needed the repair work done quickly - but we wanted a good quality job at a fair price. We asked around and got a glowing recommendation for Rusty's from a coworker. I emailed Rusty fully expecting him to say that they were booked for a few weeks. Rusty called me within an hour of my email to him. When I described the problem, Rusty said that he could get someone out the next day. True to his word, he had his crew at my house at noon the next day (Thursday). They pulled out the old tile and drywall, cleaned up a bit of water damage we found behind the wall, and got the concrete backer board up and sealed before they went for lunch. They came back about 30 minutes later and got two of the three walls completely tiled. They said they'd be back the next day at 8:00 a.m. Sure enough, they arrived promptly the next morning, and they were able to finish tiling the last wall, then grouted all of the walls. We let the grout cure over the weekend, and they came back on Monday to apply a high-quality grout sealer. Charlie (the foreman) was incredibly polite and professional throughout the experience. They cleaned up the areas after each work day, and took extra care putting drop cloths down everywhere that they would be walking. The shower looks much better than it did when we bought the house. I plan to engage Rusty's with my next renovation project, because they were professional, prompt, efficient, timely, respectful, and above all, did excellent work at a reasonable cost.
Description of Work: We had a soap dish come off of the wall in our tub/shower, and the tiles behind it had come off. The drywall behind looked to be in bad shape. The job was to demolish all three tiled walls, removing the old drywall; then put up concrete backer board, tile, grout, and seal.

It was a good experience. Rusty was pleasant to work with and seemed to know his business. He came up with a lasting solution to a leak problem that other handymen had failed to fix. Quality of work overall was very good. His two-man crew who did the work were on-time, efficient, pleasant and cleaned up work areas very well. We would certainly hire Rusty again.
Description of Work: Multiple small repair and maintenance projects over two days --replaced, sealed and painted two areas of rotted outside wood siding - appx 35 SF? One at ground level, other in a difficult access area off second floor balcony. -- some touch-up exterior painting -- replaced small area of tiles in shower -- Identified a bad joint where outside masonry met wall and filled it with mortar, finally solving a leak problem that others had failed to diagnose and fix. -- installed new sink faucets -- minor electrical repair.

Rusty was prompt and efficient, and did a really good job getting my townhouse back to its original nice condition. He was flexible in terms of adding things as we went along, and helpful, but not pushy, in identifying other potential troublespots. Really thought he did a very good job.
Description of Work: General handyman services to get townhouse back in shape after tenant moved out that had done a fair amount of damage -- repaint the house, repair and replace drywall, fix hardwood flooring, etc.

Overall the project went very well. He is prompt, professional, and easy to work with. I would definitely hire him again.
Description of Work: Rusty is very prompt and professional. His estimates were fair, and his crew were quick and professional and left my house nice and clean. We are very pleased with the work done. They replaced a vent in our attic; repaired and installed an accordion door on our closet; created a transition between two rooms on our hardwood floor; and installed baseboard & shoe molding in two rooms, a hall and a closet. The floor transition between the rooms was especially tricky because when my husband and I installed the hard wood ourselves, unfortunately we made an error that couldn't be easily fixed. Rusty made it look great-- you'd never know there had been a problem there.

Overall the kitchen painting went fine. Rusty had one of his men working on it for less than a week. The aping job went fine. Rusty put in the sink and reconnected the garbage disposal. Everything seemed fine till we noticed leaks under the sink from the disposal. We called Rusty and he came out as scheduled and he tightened up the disposal. No leaks, for a little while. We called in another contractor for other work, had him take a look and he said the garbage disposal was all rusted and needed to be replaced. We called in a plumber and had him install a new garbage disposal and he concurred that the old unit was way past its time. I just wish Rusty had seen the same thing and we would've gotten a new one and paid him to install it, hence the lower ratings.
Description of Work: Rusty was referred to us by a colleague of my wife. We asked him to have our kitchen cabinets painted and to install a new kitchen sink and faucet.

Fine - Rusty is pleasant and easy to work with, provided quick estimate and honored it (although we added things that pushed up final bill). His workers were pleasant, efficient, knew their business, cleaned up well after. Good experience. We'll call him again
Description of Work: multiple small jobs - replaced some decayed cedar siding in two places, outside touchup painting in high area, replaced some tile in shower, installed new faucet, worked on an outside drainage problem, minor window repair.

We had discovered that our walk-out basement door frame was leaking. Rusty came and gave me an estimate. At the estimate, he offered to caulk a possible leak opening for free. We went with his company because it was $1000 less than another bid. The rotten wood was more extensive than Rusty had thought, but he and his workman brainstormed and solved the problem. He and his men made sure that all their work was cleaned up and took the trash. I'm very happy with the work he and his crew performed.
Description of Work: Rusty's company came over for several home repairs. They replaced the rotten wood and J channels around the deck and patio doors, replaced a broken tile, grouted the basement shower, installed flashing under my deck, replaced and painted the baseboard around the basement door, planed the tops of my patio and deck doors.
