Great Nation Moving

It was my lucky day when Great Nations Moving contacted me from Angies List for a state to state move. Everyone I worked with was helpful and assured me that they were professionals with years of experience and all would go well. They were absolutely right! The representative answered my numerous questions with ease, assurance and patience. The moving team had all the necessary equipment and took Covid precautions. The entire move from one city to another evolved seamlessly and like clockwork. My possessions arrived in excellent condition, including vintage furniture. The price was competitive with other moving companies. I am pleased and relieved, and will use them again and will refer them to family members.

We called Great Nation to do our move from Damascus Md. to the Gettysburg Pa area. I felt very comfortable dealing with David S. We didn't even get another quote from any other movers! Great Nation not only moved out house contents, but they also moved our very heavy hot tub for a nominal fee. Due to circumstances out of our control, Great Nation also kept about half of our house contents at their warehouse for 4 months until we were ready to move. While we were preparing our move, we had access to as many boxes, tape and wrapping paper that we could use! Once we were ready to move out, the guys to care to wrap alot of of our treasured items in moving blankets. Then they wrapped them in plastic wrap for added protection. Because we had a lot of things that needed to be moved, we expected items to be damaged upon our arrival at our new location, but just one item (wooden trash can, not worth keeping) was damaged. BRAVO GUYS!! You exceeded our expectations! I'm sure we could have gone with a less expensive company, but as the saying goes..."you get what you pay for"!! I have used Great Nation two times in the last year and both moves went flawlessly. From my initial contact to obtain a quote through signature of a completed job order, each and every person I worked with at Great Nation was focused on understanding my request and needs and making sure that I was satisfied with the service provided. My first move dealt with the sale of our family home of twenty years, downsizing, moving belongings to our new home with a drop off at a storage locker in between - all handled in allotted estimated time - complete with packing and unpacking - and removal of packing material. My second move, Great Nation worked with me to successfully pack, transfer, relocate and unpack my older sibling (relocating from his home in Gainesville Virginia to a Senior community closer to family in Annapolis Maryland). The move went extremely smoothly. The Great Nation team packed my kitchen for me and moved the majority of my belongings (some items I had moved into storage ahead of time). They were extremely careful but also quick with all items. Absolutely nothing was damaged in transport, and the team was courteous and professional at all times. Excellent work.

Smoke and mirrors. The receptionist Rose is great, worth the two stars, she is very polite and helpful starting the process. However there is no indication, statement or mention of a charge to "store" your stuff in their warehouse. So if your looking for a moving company you know it's extremely difficult in this current housing market, plus all the covid rules, but when you find a house and something unexpected happens to delay it a week, Great Nation Moving is there to capitalize. "Yea its no problem" to store your things, but it's a trap. Now they have your stuff!! You're forced to pay a fee you didn't know about just to get your stuff back and during the storage, they unload only to reload and damage a significant amount of your personal property. Yup, that comes with a extra 3k charge, plus your damaged things. So I'm getting a lawyer for this unadvertised fee and filed an insurance claim for the damaged goods. Good luck

Great Nation Moving was great. They were quick and professional, and helped me with packing my fragile artwork which I greatly appreciated.

Our move was as painless as you could possibly make it. The men and office staff were great and lived up to their promises to the fullest. They were easy to work with, courteous, wore masks and were very hard workers. They delivered to two separate places and we got all the right pieces of furniture to the right place. That was wonderful. We would highly recommend them to anyone who wants upfront honest mover.

GREAT NATION IS AMAZING. From the moment I called them I spoke with nice staff members. It felt like an amazing family to do business with. I had a last minute change and needed to end up moving on a Saturday and they DID IT for me right away. ON A SATURDAY. This was amazing. Carol was very helpful through the entire process and the movers were kind, careful, and quick. If you ever need help moving call them. Their prices are also amazing too. Keep it up to this amazing team!

The move went well. Nothing was damaged and the movers to extra care of all my stuff. The staff/movers were very polite and explained the entire process very well.

Great Nation helped with my recent move and they were professional, courteous, and expeditious. I felt like they offered good value for the money and was really pleased with the extra help that they provided with helping me set up a few large items in my new place. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is moving and would definitely use them again.

Our 700 mile move from VA to AL went very well. The Great Nation team was punctual and worked very hard to wrap our furniture and move our personally packed boxes to the truck. We received our household goods within a week and so far, so good as we are unpacking. They also moved a grand piano and did a fantastic job disassemling and assembing the piano in the perfect place in our home.

We used Great Nation for two moves in August and November 2020. The first one was fine but the second one was an epic disaster. In both cases, they overcharged for time and/or materials - you really have to watch everything! Make no mistake, they are a sales company and do not care about you or your stuff! Case in point: I emailed three people in the company after the November move and one month later, no one has bothered to contact me in return. Especially since one of my unaddressed concerns is the missing piece of antique furniture. This review is part of the detailed email I sent to the company representatives. Our November move was slightly unusual in that the person (my mother) was moving into a senior retirement community on general lockdown due to COVID. However, a professional moving company should be equipped to provide additional services and logistics that such a facility would require. NOPE! All arrangements were left to my family (who didn't know any details about moving in to the facility). The logistics person did not contact the retirement facility for any special arrangements. He grossly underestimated the time it would take to drive out of state and the moving crew ended up delivering after 7 pm on a Saturday into a senior facility. The biggest issue we had and the biggest failing of this move was that we received less than 24 hours notice for both moves (from the house and then to the retirement community). So we all had to scramble to make arrangements at the retirement place and get money on a weekend, during a pandemic, because Great Nation failed to notify us and work with our schedule. Another huge issue is that the packing list at the house was not given to us so on the other end of the move, we found out that they overcharged us for all materials that were either supposed to be included or that we provided or that we didn't use. Again, we were left scrambling to get extra money at the last minute. It also felt like a bait-and-switch when the first truck arrived completely full to load the items from the house. So we had to wait an hour until a second crew and empty truck could come. But then we were stuck scrambling for money to pay tips to two crews instead of one. Lastly, an antique piece of furniture was not delivered at the retirement community. We are owed an explanation and compensation and no one has bothered to contact us. I will say that the crews did a fantastic job loading and packing. But I feel like we constantly got nickel and dimed on this move. My mother - a recent widow who lost her husband, job, and house this past year - spent thousands of dollars on this move and it was not completed to satisfaction. She was a helpless victim in this whole situation and has been left without recourse.

It was a great experience working with GNM from start (quotation process) to finish. They met the schedule on-time at a competitive price with absolutely no surprises or disappointments. All household goods came through the process with no damage. Everyone from the sales guy, to the movers, to the office personnel were friendly, helpful and professional. I especially liked getting a 3% discount they offered for paying with cash.

If you're like me, you've probably had a really bad experience with a moving company, and you are now reading the reviews trying to figure out if you should trust Great Nation Moving. I'll cut to the chase because I don't tend to write reviews and don't have much time for lengthy details: I am so happy that I took a chance with Great Nation Moving. I would use them again in a heartbeat. Scott was attentive, courteous, and quickly responded to any issues. The movers themselves were nothing less than professional. They came on time, wore masks and protective gear, moved quickly but very carefully and took excellent care of our furniture and belongings. Best my very ng experience so far!

They did a great job moving us out of our 2-bedroom townhouse. Got a great quote, and since I had everything ready to go in boxes. The guys they had were great, and the entire move took ~4 hours

I was extremely impressed with the 4-man team that Great Nation Moving sent to pack and move my household goods. I found them on Angie's List with an A rating. They did a professional job packing and protecting my nice furniture and did an amazing job fitting all the furniture on the truck and in my storage space - think 3-D Tetris. They were responsive to my concerns and were able to complete the move in the estimated time. I will need to move again within the next year and will be sure to contact them for that move too.

I shopped around looking for a moving company to move from the Mid-Atlantic to Florida, never having used a moving company before. After determining Great Nation Moving company would do this for us, I still worried. This move couldn't have gone any smoother. I was able to contact the owner, having been given his cellphone number. It was reassuring. Four guys came to the house on Sunday, packed and loaded our furnishings. I was told I should be able to receive our stuff by the end of the week. I contacted them when I arrived in Florida and they said delivery would be Friday. Two guys came, unloaded, unpacked and quickly considering it was just two of them. All the guys who packed at both ends were nice, courteous and efficient. I highly recommend this company. I do plan to use them to assist with storage relocation for my employer back in DC.

We recently hired Great Nation this summer to move when my husband had to relocate for work to Baltimore area. The entire process was very smooth. James was super helpful and informative throughout the process leading up to the move. I appreciated how friendly he was and that we were not negged about moving “last minute” like we were with other companies’ salespeople. They charged us about half the price the larger national companies were quoting us. I was a little hesitant to go with a local company, especially since we had never hired movers before, but they knocked it out of the park! We stuck to our estimate for what we needed to move and we had no surprise charges (though I’m sure they charge a premium if you seriously mess up your estimate and move a lot more the day of). The movers wore their masks the whole time they were in our home (which we appreciated during Covid) and we stayed out of their way as much as possible. I forget the names of the 3 men who were our movers, but they were all great and very careful with all of our belongings. We also hadn’t realized when we bought our sectional couch that it hadn’t been assembled correctly by the original furniture delivery people until the Great Nation movers put our couch together correctly in our new place. Overall, they are a professional company through and through and they deserve your business!

Excellent! I used the service of Great Nation Moving to move from Northern Virginia to Connecticut. Their price quote is transparent and accurate. No hidden fee. The movers were professional, carrying and packing the furniture with care. The logistics between states is quite smooth and on time. I am happy I chose a reliable and responsive mover. Strongly recommend to others.
