An inquiry was submitted online and immediately followed up with a phone call. Courtesy governed the conversation. The company does not service the area of Front Royal so we are in no position to review anything other than their phone etiquette. They do come highly recommended.

They were excellent. The work began more than a week early, and they got it done with only a little bit of prep work one afternoon and then everything completed the next day. Everything was done exactly as promised and looked even better than I expected.

DC did all they had contracted to do and more. They left the project sight in better condition then when they arrived. Very pleasant and responsive.

The results went very well. The stairs are curved, and the workmen were able to curve the railing as well. Neat, workman- like finish on the railing. The railing is secured onto the concrete steps. They left the job site clean.

Mike. Don and Doug are a wonderful team to work with. Where other contactors would show up hours late or not at all, Diversified was always on time or gave a call if running late (due to traffic for example) and very professional. When they came out to give me an estimate for the project they really listened to what I had to say and took all of my concerns seriously. Communication was excellent and they were very responsive to all of my questions and concerns. The crew worked extremely hard staying into the evening on some days. This was a big job and they completed it in a relatively short amount of time even with a few rain days when no work could be done. Any issues that came up were worked out quickly mainly because of their quick responsiveness and willingness to please their customer. They were also accommodating to any changes in plan that I asked for during the project. The only thing I would recommend would be to make sure that they do all of the proper permitting and utility locating before the project is started. Overall I'm very happy with my experience and the work that Diversified did. I feel that they went above and beyond my expectations and would recommend them to others.

I never heard from anyone at DC, LLC again. I expected at least a follow up contact, ie. We will have the quote to you by..." We have contracted another company and are in the process of getting CAD's and proceeding with our patio. Since the work did not begin in June, I have to reapply for improvements from my HOA.

They worked quickly & the results look really good. Neighbors have also commented how good the steps look. My objection is that nobody told me when they had finished. I came out around 5pm, and there were the finished stairs, with nobody around. They cleaned up nicely, and again, the stairs look great.

Things worked out great. We were very pleased with their work and would recommend them. The estimator Don Franz was extremely responsive and easy to work with. Price-wise, Diversified was on the higher end of the bids we received, but since it wasn't by much (all 4 bids were within $1,000 of each), we decided to go with them, since we felt we could trust them the most given their size, experience, and personnel. It was money very well spent. Our yard required a bit of excavation and fill-in, and they were able to bring in their own dump trucks and a 6 person crew to work on it. They worked extra hard to get the work done by July 4 so we would be able to use the patio in spite of the rain. Highly recommended.

My first impression with Thomas, who came out to do the estimate, was that I liked the direct and honest manner he had in answering my questions and the taking the time to explain how the job would work and costs would be managed. He was patient and accommodating as we went through several rounds and tweaks to the quote. There were still some questions about exact measurements and location points, so Thomas came out again with Mike (owner) to review one last time and spray paint the lines. The installation went smoothly with the workmen being very fast, efficient, and taking great care to get the base level, with just enough grade to make sure rain water would drain correctly through the wall. The patio was completed in 3.5 days, which was what they had estimated. They were also accommodating about laying a gas pipe (which we provided) under the patio so that we could later have a plumber complete a natural gas hookup for a gas fire pit. When the job was completed, Mike came back to make sure we were happy with the end result, which is a beautiful patio that has transformed our backyard into a wonderful place to hang out and relax. These guys were super easy to deal with, no BS, and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Diversified Contractors: the owners and employees were very courtious and responsive and carefully perform the job without affecting our normal life. They were on time and on the spot, workmanship shows great quality and thoroughness. We would definetely consider to use them again in future landscape/hardscape jobs as well as refer to friends and family.

Awesome job! This is the second time I have hired DC for landscape type works and they again amazed me on the quality of workman ship. We have a brick and morter built staircase consist of 11 steps about 6 feet wide, over the past 7 years or so due to weather and salt caused the bricks to fall aparts and morter to loosen up, DC came in and perfomed the job in little more than a day and turn my stair case into its old glory. It looks brandnew, the replacement bricks were identical to what was there before.

Everyone from the estimator, Don, to the owner, down to the laborers, was great! They gave us a wide variety of choices for materials and construction patterns, as well as making very helpful suggestions of what would work best in our space with our budget. The work was done exactly as promised in the contract and on time. The results are fantastic!

Diversified has been doing my large lot mowing for the past 7 years and has also done some weeding, mulching and clean-up during that period. Always been extremely professional and reasonable. Recommend fully.

Originally, we wanted to just to have a site excavated, and we would do the rest ourselves. Two refused to take the job on, and one didn't even bother returning my calls. Diversified took us seriously, and declined to do an excavation-only job, but also explained why in reasonable terms. I was impressed with their politeness and professionalism. So much so, that when we decided not to do it ourselves, we called them back, simply because they treated us well. We had a pretty good idea of the area and shape we wanted, and were fairly thorough in measuring out what we thought we needed. We contacted Don Franz through Angie's List, and Don paid us a visit to look over the project and go over some possibilities. It was a full patio job requiring site prep as well as installation, for a little over 210 square feet in an unusual shape. We had originally planned on a flagstone material, but instead opted to use a paver that Diversified doesn't normally carry. This was no problem for them, however, and they were able to source the pavers we wanted and quoted us a fair price. When we agreed to the project and a contract, Don and the owner, Doug, came back to our house to look over the project. Doug supervises the work crews personally, and he wanted to make sure he understood what we wanted. He had a couple of helpful suggestions along the way. We were able to get on the schedule within 2 weeks of signing the contract, which was acceptable considering that the busy season has already started for them. Within that two-week stretch, we changed the plan several times, however, Don and Doug were able to handle our questions and adapt to what we wanted. They never let us feel like we were being a pain or difficult customers. Weather put them a few days behind schedule, which was fine with us - we had planned on a two-day job. On the first day, Doug arrived with a couple of extra crew members, and to our surprise said they would finish the job the same day. They actually would have been able to finish in LESS than one day had traffic not been so awful delaying the paver delivery. Still, at 6:30 pm on the end of the first day, everything was done and we had a new patio! The quality of the work was amazing. The details - the little things - like cutting the pavers around fence posts, putting in solid siding and making sure the sanding was even all over - they paid great attention to these things. I am still floored by how good it looks. We might have been able to find a lower price, but I do not think we would have been able to find a better value - we stopped looking once we talked to Don and Doug. Doug's crew has been with him for a long time, and you could tell that they'd all been working together for a while. They even seemed like they were having fun at a couple points. Phenomenal work. I've already referred another customer to them. Totally positive experience.

I met with the company's representative to discuss the job. Never got an estimate. Four weeks later when I called them they told me they were still working on it. Other company did the work.

I had scheduled a consultation for an estimate last week with Mike Erickson. Mike never came and I had to leave for work. I called and left a message and Mike called me back. We re-scheduled for 2 days later. I expected to meet with Mike but another employee was sent to meet with me instead. He was late, then called to say that he was lost but did show up for another 20 minutes. The employee that I met with was nice and friendly but seemed completely uninterested in my business and what my landscaping needs were. He did not have any suggestions for improvement and did not seem knowledgeable about the plants in my yard. He only stayed for about 15-20 minutes, whereas the other consultations I had lasted for close to one hour. The employee left and said he would email me an estimate. That was 6 days ago and I have not received anything from Diversified.

Since I was a former client, they agreed to do it anyway but quoted me a price that was 40-50% higher than other landscapers for a simple yard cleanup. It took several days to get this info from them.

DC was punctual and responsive. It was easy to arrange the estimate. They were professional, had good ideas and suggestions about the project, but were not at all pushy. They were able to start the project very soon after I submitted the contract. The work crew was well-supervised, very professional and hardworking. The job was completed faster than I anticipated and the quality of the work was excellent. I had received a number of estimates on this project. Many were far higher than DC. The only other estimates in the range of DC were from companies that seemed far less professional. I couldn't be happier with the performance of this company.

Unfortunately, this experience was bungled from the very beginning due to multiple miscommunications and an inept handling of estimations. I received multiple estimations with each having errors in description and cost. As a result, I had high initial high expectations for my patio with what I thought was a competitive price, but in the end I ended up with a sub-par patio for a higher price than what I was originally quoted. The 1st estimate included 2 options, 1 for a Flagstone patio on stone dust, and the 2nd option for a Flagstone patio on new cement. The 2nd option was $500 more. Although the estimate didn't really match what the estimator and I had discussed (we basically agreed to do Flagstone on Stone Dust), I took the estimate at face value. Knowing Flagstone on cement is a better patio, I was pleased with the price and I emailed Diversified back with that selection. The estimator, based off of a comment I made a couple weeks later, realized his mistake on the initial estimate. The 2nd option was not a valid price for Flagstone on cement. He sent a revised estimate. The revised estimate included a price increase for the Flagstone on stone dust patio because the estimator had made another error and had quoted me a pavers patio price with a Flagstone description. Long story short, 4 emailed estimates later and multiple weeks of delay, I finally received a valid estimate. To Diversified's credit, they did give me 2 separate $100 discounts because of the mistakes. However, due to project timeline and the pain I had already endured in getting HOA approval, I went ahead with the patio. Speaking of HOA approval, I asked the estimator if Diversified does designs so I can submit the design to the HOA. The estimator said yes. After multiple requests via voice mail and email, I finally received a design that was drawn on the PLAT I had supplied. The design was drawn freehand in ink, and the patio and gate were in the wrong location (basically, somebody was bothered to do it and did it in less that a minute). I did the design myself in Visio so I could submit it to the HOA. As for the patio, the Flagstone looks nice, and they did an excellent job on the stairs. However, the filler, made up of small pebbles, is horrible. The filler is between all of the flagstone, and you can never sweep the patio because you will sweep away half the filler. As a result you will always have an unswept patio full of small pebbles on top of the flagstone that will be tracked into the house. If I had been told of this issue, I would never have chosen this patio. I talked to one of the owners afterwards who said he would send me additional options to resolve the problem, and I never heard back from him. I would caution anyone who gets an estimate from Diversified to go over every line of it with the estimator ON THE PHONE and not over email in order to catch any mistakes. This is probably good advice overall and my biggest mistake. Also, make sure you understand exactly what you are getting. I did research beforehand, but I did not anticipate the filler issue as none of my research mentioned that as a flaw. I believe some reading this will probably ask the question, "Why did I proceed with the patio after many errors and issues before work even started?" To which I would respond, Yes, that was a massive error on my part and a mistake I will never, ever repeat again.

The initial estimator was friendly but not the most expert of the estimators I contacted. In the end because I could not reach an agreement with another contractor I called Diversified back and pointed out what I had learned (and paid for) from the other estimators. Diversified then offered me a revised contract and I settled on that. It was the best price quoted. Their work was outstanding. Our prior patio was solid concrete and the Diversified team used hand tools to break it up and remove the material. That way they avoided damaging the house and also minimally disturbed appreciative neighbors. it was very hard work. The team finished on time and carefully cleaned behind them. One minor problem at the end was fixed with a simple phone call. Our new patio is now an attraction in our backyard. The revised drainage system handled Hurricane Sandy without blinking. So we are very pleased with the results.

Great experience! I worked with Don Franz through multiple iterations of the contract and size of the patio, as well as different options of benches/sitting walls. Don explained all of the options and pricing, walking me through all of the details in person and on the phone or email. Don was very responsive to all of my questions. Don was able to schedule us into a gap in his schedule so that we could enjoy our patio for the majority of the summer, this was so great of him! The team worked quickly during the heat of the summer, even during a week that the power was out. Don and his boss, maybe Mike?, even came by the house to do a walk through before the work began, during the derecho! Our street was blocked by a downed wire and they still came to their appointment. The patio looks amazing and was built exactly how I imagined. The grass around the patio did not grow in 100% perfectly but it was a hot summer. After the patio was completed we noticed that because of the patios height relative to the house we wouldn't be able to use our water spigot. Don and Mike(?) or a crew came out within a few days to install a curved spigot so that we could use our hose. Thank you!!!! One note, the downspout that was rerouted under the patio was installed with a pop up water emitter, however the first time we moved the grass the pop up cover broke off. They said it was built specifically to withstand lawn mowing. I still need to call DC patio and see what they can do about this, however I know it has been half a year since the service has been performed, things got busy. Great company, great patio, thank you!

The flagstone was chosen with care with some reddish and brown hues to beautifully compliment the colors of our house. Work started on time and progressed quickly at first. Completing the finishing touches and fixing the few problem areas took a number of visits spanning several months. We are happy with the final outcome and have received many complements. My only criticism is that the work should have been completed in a more timely manner.

During the estimate visit, the consultant was very thorough and explained in detail the process of all the work that would be done--something that three previous contractors we'd gotten estimates from had neglected to do. They were also considerably less expensive than all three of the other contractors, despite the estimate including higher quality materials (paving stones versus poured concrete). The project start time came very soon after the contract was signed and the work was finished within the time frame they had estimated. During the process, Diversified Contractors was available to answer questions. We were very satisfied with the finished project and will likely use them again in the future.
