Thomas came out back in May/June to do an estimate for me for our townhouse patio. We had talked about the options i had since the ground was very uneven. He had provided an estimate, a catalog of pavers/patterns available and a sketch that i used to get my HOA approval. In early November i was ready for this project and Thomas came out again with co-owner Mike to discuss timeline and other minor details. The project started the day after. the crew was very professional. we had a few problems with foundation (builder had left a chunk of concrete attached to the foundation) and Mike was there within 10 minutes to address and suggest possible solution. He had also addressed my concerns with drainage (i didn't want water running of to my neighbor's walkway). The job was done on time and on budget. My patio looks wonderful!! love it, love it, love it. My neighbors complement me on it all the time. It even seems that i have more property. i can't wait until spring to set up my tables and chairs. love the new drainage - pipes are buried and very discreet. Mike had provided me with a few pointers on after care - e.g. type of product to use during winter for the de-icing. i would absolutely recommend this contractor to any one who is considering adding patios to their home. thank you Mike & team!!

Originally I was told that it would take 3 days to complete the job but they actually finished in 2 days. But the foreman came back the next day and re-planted the plants around the edges that had to be moved to put the pavers down - which was really nice (I thought I was going to have to do that myself!). The crew was very friendly and answered all my questions along the way. It was very apparent that they REALLY knew what they were doing. I would hire them again in a heartbeat!
Description of Work: Workers had to clear a lot of vegetation and large rocks before they could level the area in the back of my townhouse. They did a great job in grading the slope away from the house before they put down the pavers because every time it rains now there are no puddles of water anywhere and it's always dry right where the house meets the pavers.

I needed to have the brick patio replaced at a townhouse that I inherited as a rental property in Bethesda. I live in Northern California, so I had to arrange for this from a distance. I got estimates from several contractors, including from Don Franz at Diversified. I chose Diversified based on price and responsiveness. Both myself (via phone) and my tenant (in person) were impressed by Don's knowledge and professionalism. Don explained up front that it would be several weeks before they could start the work, but taking that into account, the work started on time, and was completed even faster than we expected. I have since been back to see the house and the patio, and it looks great. My tenant reported that the work crew was very efficient and kept things clean. The price was very reasonable (about 1/3 less than another estimate), and unlike some other estimates, included materials (very helpful given the long distance situation). I was very happy with all aspects of the job and would definitely recommend Diversified for this type of work.

Great. They responded quickly, Thomas came out and took measurements and the estimates rolled in shortly after. I had 3 or 4 other estimates performed by licensed professionals and they were more expensive than Diversified Contractors. Mike was the foreman of the crew that came out to do the work. Nice guy. We stayed in close contact when a mismeasurement required us to adjust plans a little and raised the cost but the end product came out looking great. He took the time to answer any questions or concerns that I had or continue to have. This company has the integrity to fix any mistakes that occur during an installation-THIS IS HUGE TO ME. They had to pick our two AC units up and through that process one of the lines developed a leak. No problem: I had my AC guys come out, fix it up and the cost of the repair was taken out of the overall cost. Though they located and attempted to protect it, our fiberoptic cable was cut or kinked somehow throughout the job (A LOT of stone was put down in the back yard). They remain reachable to this day to de-install/re-install any portion of the job while Verizon has a new line installed. Though a pricey investment, we couldn't be happier. We are already planning a patio party and the neighbors have been tossing lots of compliments our way regarding the job. For a job this large, it was about as stress free as it could be. The work looks wonderful as well.

Don, the estimator, was good about working with my schedule in coming to view the place and called when running late. They came in with the lowest quotation for the job I wanted done. I had to wait about 5 weeks from contract until the work was scheduled to begin but they did begin on the day that they'd said. They didn't finish the following day as I had understood, and this wasn't clearly communicated to me, but they returned on Saturday and finished the job in a second day. Mike, co-owner and horticulturist, was helpful throughout the process as I discussed the plantings in my design and asked for advice and recommendations. He went to a lot of effort to find the varietals and colors that I wanted. I appreciated the little extras that got added in--hauling away some branches for me, leveling the ground for my raised beds and emptying and refilling them when they weren't aligned the first time, moving my compost, and clearing and mulching a small strip of ground not part of this landscaping job. They even offered to plant my potted vegetables for me! As a follow-up: I have reduced my ratings of them. Some of the plants that they planted are stressed and unhealthy and other landscape experts have suggested that they were planted too low and that the watering instructions I was given were inappropriate for some of those plants. They have been poor communicators regarding replacement of the plants that died, not responding to emails or keeping me informed, though I trust that they will do so in the spring. They also have not responded to my questions about the stressed plans and concerns that they may be at fault.
Description of Work: Diversified Contractors landscaped a significant portion of my backyard in accordance with a design prepared by another company. They tore out the existing weeds and ground/fence cover, removed a small tree and several stumps, hauled off some branches that I'd had pruned earlier and dug out piles of clay left by previous construction. They built a small flagstone patio and put down topsoil, pre-emergent and mulch across the rest of the yard and planted about 40 plants. Two plants have died since but they will be replaced under warranty once the heat has dissipated.

I e-mailed to set up an appointment and got a prompt call back. Don was a ble to make my schedule which was really tight as I was coming in from out of town for just a few days and had a ton of work to get done. He was professional and clear in explaining how they would do the job (not a fancy one but they treated it as just as important as a big job). After we met and he sent me the estimate, he came out again with the guy who would oversee the work and we went over it again, drew the lines and got everything set to go inclusidate. The ended up calling to see if the could come a day early, got the removal and pouring done - whole job took only a couple of days and looks great. Excellent work - I would absolutely hire them again for their professionalism and quality of work. Great job!

Very helpful during first interview. We knew what we wanted and it was very nice to finally have someone LISTEN to what we wanted to have done. Workers installed a patio with two sitting walls and finished one day early (patio looks fantastic). They cleaned everything up and I cannot think of one negative thing to say about this company. Mike did a nice follow up today and it was a pleasure working with this company. We interviewed about 5 other companies and Diverified stood out from the initial interview.

Don was great at answering all of my emails and questions. I had a similarly priced quote from a different company but chose DC because of Don's attention to detail about the project. He noticed that the gutter came down right near where the new patio would be, that having water collect there wasn't the best, and proposed extending the gutter underground out past the patio. I appreciated this sort of forward looking detail. I was also hoping to get the project done quickly so that I could enjoy the patio this summer. Don was able to squeeze us into the schedule about 2 weeks after our first contact, this was great! Don and Doug (the owner) came out the Sunday after the power outage caused by the derecho, which really showed their commitment. Despite the heat the project was completed on time. The new patio looks great. I really liked the look of the Hanover pavers that they use. One thing I will point out is that during the walk thru I pointed out that there is a water spigot for the hose in the patio area, and that I needed the patio to be low enough to still be able to use that spigot. I was out of town during the building of the patio bc of the power outage, and came home to a beautiful patio, but the water spigot was unusable. Don answered my questions about the patio and sent out a crew to come up with a solution for the water spigot. Although I was not contacted and the team just stopped by unannounced on the weekend, they did hook up a connector to the spigot so that it was usable again. Overall, my experience was great. The work was done well and quickly. I am used to quick communication especially by email, and I really appreciated that Don was usually quick to get back to me. THANK YOU for our awesome patio!

I left our meeting feeling like the estimator was recommending an installation method that would save me money but would be of a lesser quality. I appreciate a company's concern for cost, but not at the sake of quality. I had hoped to see a similar installation and was sent contact information for a home in the area, but was never able to make contact with the homeowner even though the person had agreed to let me see the work. I did receive photographs of that installation as well as another one and did not find the quality in the details that I would want on my project. So I went with a different contractor who had a higher cost but I felt would do a very high quality job ... and they are.
Description of Work: I contacted Diversified Contractors after reading the reviews on Angie's List. Their representative came soon after to review the project, get measurements and offer recommendations. I received the estimate 3 business days later but it was only for the walkways in the front yard but did not include the cost for doing the lower patio in the backyard.

I left an inquiry on their website, they promptly contacted me and came out to our house to do an estimate and talk about options. They were very responsive and detail oriented in the beginning - they even contacted Miss Utility for us and offered to help with any HOA paperwork. Their price was better than others and they we felt they knew what they were doing. They were quite backed up with jobs and couldn't come out to do our patio until July, which was fine - we were in no rush. They came out to our house again a few days before the job and did a final walkthrough, we made a couple of changes, and they moved up our date which we were pleased about. The job definitely had its rough patches. They started the job on a Friday. They arrived a little before 10am and left at 5pm. They are based MD and we live in Springfield, VA - hence the late start I figure. The crew left tools and supplies in our backyard and in the common area behind our house outside of the fence. When we met they had talked about how their crews were working on Saturdays so I expected them to show up the next day to continue the job. Saturday came and went with no one contacting me to tell me they would not show up. I called Don but he didn't return my call. I assumed they would just come out on Monday, but Monday came and went also with no one showing up. I was definitely upset at that point and called Don as well as their office. No answer from anyone. Don called me back this time, however. He apologized and looked into the matter. He told me they had delayed the project due to rain in MD. It did not rain at the work site, however. As a result, I didn't see that as a good reason for not doing work on Monday. At least someone from the company called me back - I had not heard from them on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday until after I called them multiple times. I had reasonably expected to be informed of any unexpected delays. On Tuesday, the job was completed. Funny enough, Tuesday was the day they had initially scheduled to complete the job before they decided to move it up. In the end, the stress and annoyance was worth it because their crew did a fantastic job. They cleaned up the site on the final day and left us a nice looking patio and planter bed. The backyard was useless before and they transformed it into a peaceful area. Although management could work on more proactive customer service to inform customers of delays and issues, the quality of their work is unquestioned. Overall, we are happy and would recommend them.

In mid May, My husband and I were looking for a qualified company to install a patio in our backyard. I went on Angie's list to find companies from whom we could solicit an estimate. I found DC Patio here on Angie's list and shared the feedback with my husband. My husband called and talked to Don who quickly scheduled a meeting at our home to review the plans and the space. In our discussion with Don, we were adamant about our time schedule and budget. Don gave us a great price and promised that DC could begin work within a couple weeks. I believe there was a miscommunication about the scheduling on DC's part but once this was resolved, the crew showed up the beginning of June. On the first day, the crew started around 8AM. As promised the Project Manager and co-owner, Doug, was on hand to answer whatever questions we had. The workers began each day by 8AM and disappeared by 5PM. They put all their tools away and cleaned up the area each day before leaving. My yard was a mess during the process but the workers didn't add to the misery by leaving their tools and materials strewn about the yard. Our only complaint was that the workers tore up our side lawn with the Bobcat instead of using the wheel barrel to transport materials to the backyard. DC placed sod in those areas once the work was nearly finished but it was an eyesore for a day or so. The grass is growing back nicely but we do have to water it quite often. The patio installation was quite a process! The installation crew made everything look so simple and easy but through the process, we weren't so sure how (or that) everything would come together. My husband was on the phone with Doug every day inquiring about different issues, sometimes several times a day. Doug was very professional and courteous answering our questions and providing reassurances where needed. I hated the seat wall when it was first installed! It looked like a miniature Walls of Jericho type structure. However, once the entire project was completed and the capstones were put on, the finished product was something to behold indeed! I couldn't express enough gratitude to the workers who installed our patio! Everyone who comes into the backyard is taken aback by how wonderful it looks. The entire installation process took only one week. Once the workers were finished, they tidied up our yard and away they went. We went from a boring 30 square foot concrete pad to nearly 1,100 square foot patio! I seldom went into my backyard before but now I'm outside nearly every day because it's such a tranquil and beautiful space. Suffice to say, we're very pleased with the results and would highly recommend DC Patio for both your small and large patio projects.
Description of Work: The scope of work was to install approximately 1,000 square feet of pavers with two 12 foot curved seat walls and a flagstone medallion insert with curved edges.

The job went well. I am very pleased with the work. A few of the plants did not make it through the winter and they are being replaced.
Description of Work: They built a large circular patio with a sitting wall and step in my back yard. They landscaped around the patio. At The same time they built a new front walkway and small porch. They also got rid of all my old shrubs and replaced them with new plants. The patio is located at the bottom of a hill, so it was quite a bit of work hauling everything down there.

All of the work took about a week minus two days for a weekend to complete. The craftsmen for Diversified are very hard working and keenly skilled. Some maintenance should be anticipated in that you need to protect the pavers from ants that will readily mine out the fine crushed gravel potentially undercutting the underlay. You can spread a 6 month ant insecticide on the edges of the grass adjacent to the pavers and this takes care of the problem. Also keep any seedlings from getting established in the gaps between the pavers as they can cause problems for you. You can anticipate needing to clean exterior surfaces of your house in spite of Diversified doing a reasonably good job of blowing off all surfaces when work is complete. The fine dust created when cutting the pavers can be pervasive. Its just the nature of the beast.
Description of Work: After having paving and hardscape work completed by Diversified Contractors in May 2011 we asked them back to perform additional work in the Spring of 2012. This project involved the use of concrete pavers to create a new three foot wide path from the rear of the house to the front connecting the rear patio with the front driveway; it also involved a two and a half foot path along both sides of the entire driveway length and finally a paver block area surrounding the front entrance sculpted in a nice round curved shape. It also involved establishing drain pipe from two downs spouts to remotely located lawn pop up drains and a conduit placed for a future post lamp in the front of the house. They excavated and provided a solid base foundation of finely crushed and small gravel that is compacted to a significantly solid underlay for the pavers. Pavers were laid in a pattern that was pleasing and then the small gaps between the blocks were filled with a polymer sand that forms a solid grout.

Everything went well and we were very pleased with the work. It exceeded our expectations. They were very responsive in coming back 6 months later to apply more of the polymeric sand as it had settled. You should be prepared to apply a 6 month ant treatment to the lawn edge around the paved area because it is critical that ants not be allowed to begin mining into the underlay. You need to be keep up on this maintenance detail as well as to not allow grass and other plant materials to begin sprouting in the paver gaps. Seeds do have a way of getting into the places and plant of any size could cause damage as it pushes its way in and around the paving system.
Description of Work: Diversified Contractors installed a patio area of concrete pavers and drains in the area around our ground level deck that was existing. They excavated and provided a solid base foundation of finely crushed and small gravel that is compacted to a significantly solid underlay for the pavers. Pavers were layed in a pattern that was pleasing and then the small gaps between the blocks were filled with a polymer sand that forms a solid grout.

Overall things went well. We started working on getting this approved by our HOA since we live in a townhome with strict HOA guidelines. Don Franz helped us prepare the documents to submit well in time for approval and since we were working on a tight deadline due to an out of town trip scheduled, the company made sure to get the job done on time and actually in less time than they originally told us. The crew worked efficiently and cleaned up as they went along. The patio looks great (I will be happy to send before and after photos if someone will explain how to do it). The photos tell the story and the work speaks for itself. We are very pleased and would be happy to work with this company again. One hint for those who live in townhomes or elsewhere if you have strict parking allocation - make sure you agree upon where they will leave the building materials ahead of time. I did not realize they would be dumping a big load of gravel in our parking lot and due to a miscommunication about which parking spaces were ours, the gravel was left in our neighbor's parking slots. Fortunately they did not return home before the gravel was moved, but I would have felt bad if they had. So be sure to agree ahead of time about where to park trucks and leave gravel or whatever so that there are no misunderstandings.

I contacted them by phone and briefly discussed some of the work I wanted done. I spoke to Don Franz and we arranged a meeting at our house so he could see the space, take photos and measurements, and prepare an estimate. Don emailed me an estimate 3 business days (5 calendar days) later, complete with the various options we discussed while he was at my house. The estimate was a line-item, detailed estimate so I knew how much each individual thing would cost (as opposed to a lump sum estimate). After a few questions from me and some back and forth over email, I signed a contract 7 business days later (9 calendar days). The work was scheduled and started roughly 3 and a half weeks later on a Monday. The Friday before work was to begin, I met Doug (the company owner) and some members of his team at my house to review the work they'd be doing. The team showed up on Monday morning as expected and worked a few days that week. The team, including Doug and Don, were responsive to my needs and questions. I asked Doug at one point if they were going to remove the existing sod or just till it under. He told me their standard practice is to till it under, add top soil, then lay the new sod. (The contract actually specified that they till - there was nothing in it about removing the existing turf. That was simply my misunderstanding.) I was concerned about the tilling because my yard was mostly weeds and I expressed that concern to Doug. He assured me that I shouldn't get weeds in my yard and this is what they normally do. I told him I was skeptical, but did not insist they remove the existing turf. However, he must have instructed his team to remove the existing turf because the next day they were out there with shovels digging it all up. In that way, I feel they went above and beyond to provide good service. The concrete repair seems well done and again they went above and beyond by drilling weep holes in to the existing retaining wall. And the step is perfect. The flagstone patio looks amazing and we're very happy with it. The contract stated a flagstone veneer would be applied, but I believe it was actual, full-depth flagstone that got installed. (The stones were much thicker than I anticipated.) Between the mortar (or whatever it is they use to set the stones) and the depth/height of the stones themselves, the existing concrete patio is now about an inch (maybe 1.5 inches) higher than it was, which makes the top step a bit steep, but I don't think there was any way to avoid that. It's just something I didn't expect or think about, so I thought I'd mention it here for others thinking about this kind of installation. The wood work repair they did just beneath our porch roof is not in their usual scope of work, but they added that in at my request. It was in the contract and the repair work seems good. They even applied a coat or two of paint, which hadn't occurred to me. So now it blends in with the rest of the porch. I only have 2 negative (and these are pretty minor) comments. There was only one worker here to install the new sod and he didn't really speak English. I had planned to have 2 large stepping stones placed back into the yard, set into the new sod, but decided not to try communicating that to him. I'm sure it would have been easy enough to do, I just wasn't comfortable with that. Like I said - minor, not a big deal. Also, no one gave me instructions on how often to water the sod until I asked 2 days later. It needs to be watered every day for the first 2 weeks and I missed a day as a result of not having instructions when they left. In the end, everything was fine and the sod is green and healthy now. But for about a week or two, it looked a bit gray and brown, so I was concerned that missing the day killed it. Luckily, it hadn't. Overall, we were very pleased with their work and would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Diversified Contractors did a few different things for us: 1. Repaired a concrete retaining wall 2. Added a concrete step along a portion of the retaining wall. 3. Installed flagstone over an existing concrete patio (after removing the peeling paint from the concrete). They also power-washed the new flagstone and existing flagstone walkway leading up to the patio. 4. Installed new sod 5. Repaired and painted a piece of rotting wood along our patio roof.

From start to finish, the guys that worked with me were very communicative and responsive. They came right out and gave me an estimate. They gave me top priority as an Angie's List customer and did the work the following week in time for a party I was throwing. The actual crew was very hardworking, kind and professional. They did an exceptional job on the patio and laid sod around the areas where they had to take up the grass. It looks amazing and was about average when it came to other prices. Companies that were a little less were not nearly as professional and eager to please. They have followed up and continue to strive to make me a happy customer. I have already recommended them to people who have been impressed with the patio. I could not have asked for a better experience and I highly recommend this company.

Overall, the experience went very well. The team was very professional; Thomas and Mike were easy to talk to and really listened to what I had to say. I could really tell the team took pride in their work. I was very pleased and the finished product looks amazing. I would hire Diversified again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Thomas came out to our townhouse to do an estimate for stone pavers measuring approximately 12'x 12'. He quickly got an estimate emailed back to me. I later called him and asked him if he could send me an estimate for flagstone on cement as well to see how the price compared. We decided to go with the flagstone in cement. After I got the signed contract signed and scanned back to him, the project was scheduled to be completed in less than a week. The project took 2 days to complete. The crew laid a concrete base and then laid the flagstone on top. The entire project took 2 days to complete.

On the day of service, Mike Erickson stopped by in the morning to walk through the design and layout. I had some concerns regarding draining slope and water runoffs near my window wells. He reassured me that there will be a slope to drain water away from the house and offered to put paver risers around the window wells so heavy rain would not overflow into the wells. In addition, I mentioned that there was a lot of water pooling next to the patio and Mike offered to put a catch basin and connect it to the existing drain system they put in last year! Doug came by in the late morning to check on the progress. The work was supposed to take one day, but because of the curvatures and cutting, it took much longer than expected. I was satisfied they took time and did not try to rush the job and move on to the next job. The next morning at 8am, these guys were back at work took the rest of the day to complete the work (basin included). I am 100% satisfied with the work and ready to get my grill on for the summer! DC did not charge me to install the catch basin and risers because thats the kind of class acts these guys are to ensure my satisfaction with their work. I have recommended these guys to my friends and family and will continue to use them for future hardscaping projects I have in mind...
Description of Work: I am a repeat customer and Diversified Contractors (DC) met my budget and installed a concrete patio and drainage for me last Fall. My wife and I couldn't decide if we wanted to put flagstone or pavers so we waited till this Spring. We decided we wanted to go with pavers. We contacted several contractors, including DC. The estimates were similar and DC was not the lowest, but we went with Mike and Doug (the owners) because they are great to work with and just good people. Don the estimator came by within 2 hours of me contacting him and took measurements right away and I received an estimate the next day. I looked at their website gallery and the Pavers Book they provided me and picked a design (Hanover charcoal/tan pavers in K-pattern). My original patio designs had a few curvatures so the pavers would require more cutting.

Since we were working with a totally clean slate and our backyard was empty, we were not sure what we wanted to do with the space. After receiving a number of quotes for both Decks and Patios (including a number of different decking/patio material options) we finally decided to go with a Patio. Diversified Contractors responsiveness, vision, options, professionalism, expertise, and cost blew the other companies and estimates we received out of the water. A few days after we initially contacted them, we had Thomas (our estimator and initial point of contact) come out to give us a price quote and discuss potential layouts/designs. I spent a week or two looking at paver colors, wall types, stair options, etc...Throughout this time I was emailing and calling Thomas, asking him questions, talking about square footage, asking about paver availability, making small tweaks to the layout, etc...He was our "project manager" for a full 2-3 weeks before we even broke ground. If I had any questions or issues he had an answer for me within 24 hours. When you are putting down a significant amount of money and overhauling your entire backyard you want to have somebody there to answer your questions and guide you through the process. That is exactly what we got. Once ground-breaking day arrived Mike (the owner) and his crew took over. I walked around the yard with Mike one final time to make sure everyone was on the same page. The crew was fantastic; they worked from about 8am to 5pm NON STOP for 3 days until the project was complete. What really impressed me was their attention to detail throughout the process. They tackled each and every aspect of the patio, steps, and wall installation as if they were installing a patio at their own homes. The project took 3.5 days and they probably spent over 2 full days making sure the slope/grade of my yard was taken care of and that the area in which the patio was going to be installed was flat and ready for the pavers. They didn't just come by the house, flatten the area, and toss pavers on the ground, trying to finish the project as quickly as possible. They spent the entire project making sure they were building a patio that was going to be top quality and was going to stand the test of time. I greatly appreciated this. Throughout the installation process Mike was available via phone call, email, and text message. On one afternoon (via text message) I was able to sit at my desk at work and have him quote me on 5 shrubs that we decided to add on to the project at the very last minute (after we had broke ground). I picked a type/size of plant and the very next morning the 4 foot high shrubs were already in my yard. That's great service and that is going above and beyond what is expected to make the customer happy. I figured it would be a week or two before they were able to fit my plants into their schedule. I never imagined it would take less than a day. We are extremely happy with how the patio turned out. Just had a birthday party this past weekend ....It looks fantastic; better than we could have imagined. The patio has been up for about a week and we have had numerous compliments from family, friends, and neighbors. Everybody wants to know what color pavers we chose, how in the world did they install the steps like that, what company we used to do the install, etc...I have highly recommended Diversified Contractors to everyone who has asked or mentioned they are thinking about a patio or landscaping project. They were great.
Description of Work: Our back yard was all grass so no pre-existing structure had to be pulled up. Approximately 350 sqft of patio pavers were put down, a ten foot long (2 ft high) seating wall was installed, an extremely impressive looking set of semi-circular steps off our back door, and 5 shrubs were planted.

We were very happy with our experience with DC. Don Franz explained the work they would do for us when he came over to give us an estimate and a catalog of the pavers they tend to use. When working out pricing and comparing estimates, I believe that they gave us a fair estimate, and were the least expensive of the three companies we were looking at. We definitely were not planning on spending as much as we did and the only reason I marked a B for price was that it seems a bit pricey for the amount of work - but of all the companies we looked at, we felt most comfortable using DC. The date got set a few weeks out. In the interim, Don answered my emails and questions by email quickly. Before the work started, Don and Doug came out to look at the area for the patio, mark off measurements, and discuss materials and preferences. We picked the color and pattern of the pavers and then trusted them to make it work - and they did not disappoint. It took them two days to complete the job, and we hardly knew they were there - got home from work and they were gone, but had made progress, then finished up and took all their materials - they even hauled off some heavy clay dirt that we had been hoping to get rid of somehow. A few days after they finished, we noticed some white, chalky stuff on a few pavers and a portion of a step that was slightly (and I really mean slightly - like an 1/8th of an inch, but still noticeable). We contacted DC and Doug immediately set up a time to come out and look at it. When he came over, he explained that the white stuff was normal and would wash away eventually (this info was in the catalog but we hadn't seen it) and brought along one of his crew to fix the step right there, which they did to our satisfaction. Overall, we would definitely recommend using this company - we felt that we got a fair deal (if only a bit expensive) and that everyone we dealt with was honest, and most importantly, the work they do is high quality. We will probably use them again for future work as it comes up.

Response from Diversified Contractors LLC
Good morning Member, I apologize for the lack of response on our part. I believe the problem we've had is that I forwarded your voicemail to my estimator, who has an iPhone, and for some reason, he has been having inconsistent trouble in receiving the forwarded messages. My other estimator, with an Android phone, does not seem to have any issues with receiving voicemails. I always call them immediately after forwarding the message, just to make sure they receive it. In this case, he said he just saw it come in, and so I deleted it from our system thinking you were taken care of. Unfortunately, he was never able to open the voicemail, and I because I had deleted it, it was lost. Again, I really apologize for this. As you can see from all of the 'A' reviews from clients we've been fortunate enough to work for, that we are very dedicated to those we work for, and we try to go the extra mile to earn your favor. If it's not too late, I'd really appreciate another opportunity to provide an estimate for the work you're considering, and to make up for this. Please call me(301.670.0868) or perhaps better yet, e-mail me at diversifiedcontractors@yahoo.com, and I promise you we will come out and meet with you asap. Thanks once again for your interest in our services, and I hope to get another chance to earn your business and show you why we are so highly rated here on Angie's List. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Mike and his team were very easy to work with and we are very happy with the finished product. I initially chose Diversified solely based on the competitive pricing but it was a nice bonus that Mike and his team were responsive and willing to answer all of my questions (I had a lot). I wasn't 100% sure what I wanted (in terms of materials for the patio, design for patio and landscaping and the plants themselves) and Mike was helpful in that process in terms of suggesting potential options, walking through pros and cons with me and providing different examples. I know they are extremely busy right now due to the premature warm weather so I appreciate that Mike provided such a personalized service (for example, after the completion of the project, he picked up and installed a tree for me that I had found after the fact). Our patio and the landscaping look great and we will definitely look to Diversified for further projects/landscaping maintenance.
Description of Work: We live in a row home in Woodley Park that had minimal landscaping in the front "yard" and no hardscaping nor landscaping in the back "yard." We had landscaping installed in the front yard and landscaping/hardscaping (a brick paver patio) installed in the back yard.

Good morning Member, Thank you so much for your kind words. You guys were great to work for. You mentioned your amount of questions, but I actually prefer a lot of questions from my clients. The more you ask, the more I can be sure you're getting what you are expecting. I'm glad the patio project turned out so well, and I'm also glad that you guys don't have to walk over that old gravel ever again, haha. That nice BBQ cooker you have deserved better footing as well. Thanks once again for the great review, keep watering those plants, and I'd look forward to working for you both again anytime. Have a great weekend, and take care!

We have nothing but great things to say about our experience working with this company. The project was well run. The workers were very diligent and cleaned up every evening before they left. There was a point in which the workers were going to lay pavers according to the drawings and clearly it was not going to look good so they stopped and immediately had their supervisor contact us and gave us recommendations. We also planned to reuse material from an existing retaining wall to rebuild the wall. The shape and height required us to need more stone. Mike went above and beyond to help us locate the stone that had been discontinued. They were always extremely responsive. If they were not able to answer the phone we always received a return call promptly. The pavers are beautiful, the wall ties in nicely to our pool, the fireplace is the favorite gathering place, the mulch, grading, topsoil and seeding has created a very welcoming backyard. They were very accommodating to changes. We had a stacked stone border around an existing flower bed that was up against the brand new pavers and it did not look right. They let us change the plans and incorporated a stone border for the bed which is just beautiful. What was a space that was never used has now become our oasis.
Description of Work: Installation of over 3,000 SF of pavers, reconstruction of a retaining wall, construction of a fire pit, construction of a stone wall bordering a flower bed, reconstruction of steps leading to back yard, construction of two additional sets of stairs to an upper pool deck, construction of a rain garden, grading, mulching and seeding the back yard.
