We were horrified when we found ourselves with a completely blocked kitchen sink on Christmas Eve- with a meal in the ready for a huge family dinner for 20 people the next day. We tried everything on our own, but we were not successful. We have used Ken Griffith for all our plumbing needs before, so we checked their website which indicated 24 hour service. One gentleman came at 2:30 am, and he then called a second colleague. Unbelievable! It was a plastic bag and a meat preservative paper waaay down in the system probably as a result of cabinet construction we had a month before which required the dismantling and reassembling of the sink and the disposal, because these items would have never made it passed the disposal on their own. They fixed it after about 2 1/2 hours and a lot of equipment(!)...and we were able to finish cooking. We thought the price was reasonable considering the day and the amount of plumbers required, and we were so grateful for their service and professionalism on a holiday (which included our dogs barking at them the entire time from upstairs...they never complained). We always knew this company was wonderful, but we still feel guilty for calling them out in the middle of the night on a holiday. I have recommended this company for years to anyone asking, but now there's a great story to go with it. No one can believe they came out on Christmas.

Ken Griffin's plumbers did not know what they were doing. Then can not install a valve in a shower/bathtub. They can not connect or ID the correct pipes. Ken Griffin does not stand behind their work, Ken just makes excuses about why his plumbers can't do the work and tries to shift the blame from himself and his workers to anyone else or some thing else caused his plumbers to not be able to complete the job. When it is really poor workmanship by a company who calls them self plumbers and can not do plumbing work!
Description of Work: I asked Ken Griffing Plumbing to install a shower divert-er valve in my master bathroom. Ken Griffin plumbing sent two plumbers on two different dates. The first plumber spent almost 3 hours and could not complete the job. They sent a second plumber and he could not complete the job the plumber said a pipe was damaged. The last plumber from Ken Griffin plumbing said to me it would cost me more than $5000.00 to fix the broken pipe. I found out my self that the pipe was fine, Ken Griffins plumbers could not find the correct pipe to complete the job. I found the correct pipe and fixed the plumbing myself since Ken Griffin's plumbers did not know how to complete the plumbing job. I completed the plumbing work my self in less than one hour. I would never call Ken Griffin Plumbing again and I do not think anyone would be smart to call Ken Griffin plumbing!

Response from Ken Griffin Plumbing Services Inc
The member and Ken Griffin settled this situation already through the BBB. In an effort to add our company's account of the situation it should be noted that the member has a Quest manoblock pipe system that was installed by the builder of his condominium. That system is now considered to be defective and most homeowners have already replaced it. The system includes a manifold with anywhere from 20-30 pipes coming from water sources throughout the house, that are connecting to it. The locations that each pipe goes to should be noted on it because otherwise you would have no idea which pipe leads to which fixture because the pipes disappear behind drywall. The member purchased a tub/shower valve body and tried to install it himself. Our first service call was to repair the series of leaks that resulted from his attempted installation at which time he used the wrong plumbing materials to make the connections. We turned off all of the water to his unit because his manifold system was not labeled. In fact, the member didn't know which valve controlled the water to that bathroom and turned off many of the valves during his installation. He was not sure which valves he turned off. We repaired the leaks and turned on the water to the unit. The faucet didn't leak anymore but wouldn't produce any hot water. We worked with the member to try to see if he shut off a valve that delivered hot water to that particular bathroom faucet but were unable to do so. The member and our plumber agreed to return the next day to continue trouble shooting the problem. We did arrive as scheduled but the member was not at the property. We talked to him via telephone and found that the member had also disconnected the pipes to the manifold system back when he was trying to install the faucet. We were concerned that there was a problem with the cold water supply pipe or valve and advised the member that we could try to trace out the pipe, cut drywall to expose it and repair it or to go ahead and replace the defective pipe and fix the cold water problem-all at the same time. The member did not want to pay us to expose the pipe and repair it. He decided to cut drywall himself to look for the pipe. Then he found another valve that was not located on the Quest manoblock that HE had turned off during the initial installation. He completed more plumbing connections himself-and installed a "T" to a pipe to correct it. We refunded him the money for the second trip-which incurred most of the time spent troubleshooting the lack of cold water. He paid our company $337.00 to fix his mistakes on the initial valve installation. He would have spent less money had he allowed us to install the valve the first time-we would have turned off the water to the unit, installed the faucet, then turned the water back on.

Called because several family members have used them for bathroom remodels. Powder room toilet had clogged beyond our plunger and toiler auger, so I called to get the line cleared and inquire about replacing the toilet with a better one. Meanwhile, the drain pipe for one of our central A/C systems appeared to be clogged and was leaking, so I asked them to repair that as well. They helped me select the right toilet for what I needed over the phone. Service was scheduled promptly. I was very pleased with the work. Toilet line clearing and toilet replacement went very smoothly. The plumber was also able to clean out a very clogged A/C drain line which had been causing water to leak from the unit. While he was there, I asked him to clear the other unit (which also turned about to be pretty clogged-- I saw what was in it-- it would've leaked shortly) and install fittings so I could clean them in the future (it was previously PVC that was glued together). I was pleased that before he left, he took a few minutes (off the 'paid' clock) to help find the shut off to my outside hose bib (hidden under the kitchen sink, which is probably 5+ feet from the spout) and talked to me about the options for replacing the pan under my washing machine.
Description of Work: Cleared toilet line in powder room, replaced with high powered toilet. Cleared a/c drainlines for 2 central a/c units and installed fittings so they can be removed in the future.

We called Ken's office, and Ken came out the same day -- almost immediately, in fact. He was very professional and friendly and was a pleasure to deal with. His technician came out the following morning and diagnosed the problem by checking the pressure regulator and turning on/off the water at the street. We had to pay for a service call, but I expected that. I would definitely call them again.
Description of Work: Our water pressure in the house dropped dramatically, so we call Ken Griffin to check it out. We initially thought the pressure regulator was defective, but they checked it out and discovered that the problem was due to a broken polybutylene supply line from the street. At the time of this service, they did not have the equipment to "pull" new copper pipe thru the poly. They could only trench the whole 300 ft to the street. We decided we wanted to pull the pipe to reduce damage to underground wiring for landscaping lights and an in-ground sprinkler. We paid them for their techician's time to diagnose the problem.

On late Friday evening of the 4th of July weekend, we discovered that our water heater was leaking. I called the Ken Griffin number on Saturday morning, left a message, and received a return call within 20 minutes. The on-call plumber gave me an estimate for the full job - a water heater comparable to our old one plus the work, and told me how to turn off the water to prevent further leakage until he arrived. He came about 2 hours later and worked steadily for 2-3 hours installing the new water heater. He was professional, courteous, and left things in good order when the job was done. This was the first time I had used this company and selected them from Angie's List both because of their high rating and the fact that they did emergency work. I will definitely use them again for plumbing services.

At the time they closed and filled the 4 foot trench that was made, they failed to seal the pipe where it came into the house through the foundation. At all - there was no seal whatsoever placed there. A few months later my basement flooded again, ruining the carpets and other furnishings. I did not discover the cause of the problem immediately, and, assuming that their repair was performed correctly, in the ensuing 4 months spent $11,000 in an effort to remediate what turned out to be negligence on their part. In addition, my driveway collapsed where they installed the trench and it will cost an additional $4000 to repair that, which I have put off. Griffin is extremely fortunate that I did not sue them, but I was exhausted by the whole matter. Use this vendor at your peril. I cannot recommend them.
Description of Work: I had used Griffin for a couple of small jobs before and they performed OK. In 2002 I suffered a water pipe leak in the yard, with water coming into the basement. They dug out my yard against the foundation and installed copper piping in a trench 200 feet to the street.

They were impressive from the initial phone call to the confirmation phone call to the plumber that showed up at my door. The plumber also answered my questions regarding other drains and faucets in my home.

A leak in the crawl space under my kitchen developed, so I called for an estimate of repair. The person on the phone was courteous and efficient, and I was able to obtain an appointment immediately, for the next day. Although the plumber was late, he called before his expected arrival time to alert me and give me a new expected time of arrival, and did arrive at the time he told me he would. The truck was labeled, and the plumber was in uniform and well dressed, considering that I was not his first job of the day. After examining the problem, I was given an acceptable estimate before any work commenced. Upon approval of the estimate, the work was done immediately. I was able to provide the copper pipe required, which meant that the service technician did not have to leave to obtain materials to do the job, and when the final bill was presented, after inspection, because I shorted the time on task for this job with my material, not just because I supplied the pipe, the bill was reduced by approx. 20%, to my surprise. Not only was the work done properly, but he also cleaned up after himself and it looked like no one had ever been there whenthe job was done. I would definately use this company again.

When I first called Ken actually answered the phone and was very professional and friendly. I told him my problem then also asked him about a battery back up for our sump pump. He told me about the battery back up they use and the upgraded battery that was maintenance free. He also was very willing to quote me a price for when we decide to do that job. He then transfered me to Kathy to make the appointment. She made one for the next day, but due to a family problem I had to cance. A week later when I called, she remembered me and made an apointment that same week. Bob came out on time and I showed him the problem. He explained what he would do, and said he would make the faucet more user friendly by attaching it to the edge of the underside of the overhang. He completed the work, showed me what he had done, and presented a reasonable, detailed bill. I wrote him a check. Bob was a friendly, knowledgable person. I would be happy to have him come back to do other work when necessary.
Description of Work: We had an outdoor faucet at the back of our house (sort of under a overhang) and when we used it the pipe broke off. We had Ken Griffin Plumbing replace the faucet.
