Had six windows replaced. Straight forward from the initial estimate with no heavy sales pitch or attempted sell ups (which other companies did when getting estimates). Windows came in as delivered, install was punctual, professional, and quick. Pricing was very competitive as well.

They were wonderful! The first appointment was to measure the windows and talk about the process and timeline. The windows came in earlier than expected and they were able to get them installed 4 weeks earlier than planned. The installation took one day and the installers were right on time and very friendly. They cleaned up after the job was done and did a really great job. We will definately use them for other projects.

We have always admired some of the top notch professionals that we have seen on "This Old House" over the years and never really hoped to find any local contractor that could measure up. However, we had the good fortune of finding Chesapeake Thermal. Tom Dawson came to the house to talk to us and measure and offer suggestions. He was professional and extremely knowledgeable and helped us make the right decision for our replacement door. We then got a call from the office, sooner than we expected, to schedule our installation. John Dawson arrived promptly as scheduled and started the job. It turns out that John was at least as skilled as any professional we could hope to find. Because of the previous improper installation he had to solve some structure problems before he could complete the installation. The finished job was perfect. I have already recommend Chesapeake and the Dawsons to family and friends.

Chesapeake Thermal did an outstanding job removing two construction grade doors and installing two Provia high efficiency doors. One door is the classic steel door leading to the garage and the other was Provia's heritage series fiberglass door with low "e" glass in both the door and sidelights. The quality workmanship of the installers, John and Eddie, really made the difference! Fit and finish was perfect and because the opening was slightly non-standard, they went above and beyond to craft a perfect fit that will last forever. They made sure that nothing was overlooked from start to finish including the clean up and were perfect gentlemen. Tom, the owner worked very had to match the price of another contractor but was determined to earn my business. The company stands behind there work and if anything goes wrong in the future they will warranty their work and serve as a liaison with Provia if any door workmanship/parts issues arise in the future. I would recommend them without hesitation! The real test comes with the installation and the quality of fit and finish. These guys are the real deal!

I met with Tom Dawson at my home towards the end of October 2013. Once he determined what my preferences were and explained my options, he provided me with all the information, catalogs, etc., that I would need to make my decision about this new front door. He would send me renderings by e-mail of different selections I made to help me with my choice. However, the door style I wanted wasn't available with the glass I specifically wanted, although the sidelights were. I couldn't find a combination glass and door that I liked and I knew I would be forever unhappy with anything else other than exactly what I wanted.. I explained the problem I was having and what I wanted. He was very patient and contacted the manufacturer to see if they would be willing to make the door with the glass that I wanted. Obviously the price was higher and the wait a bit longer, but I LOVE this door. It also took me a while to decide on color and patina and hardware. I really appreciated the time and patience The door was ordered in November and installed January 27, 2014. We were able to pick a date where the weather wasn't absolutely horrible. The installation was quick and efficient. The door and 2 sidelights were one huge piece when taken off the truck. I thought it would come in three separate pieces. Obviously this is pretty air tight door. I highly recommend this company.

Very straight forward and to the point and I felt very comfortable. The price difference wasn't significant, so I based my decision almost entirely on gut instinct. The workmen arrived on time, worked diligently, and cleaned up before they left. I recommend CTE to anyone.

What started out as an Angie's Deal to only replace 4 windows, turned into a complete replacement of all the windows in my house. When Tom, the owner, came over there was no high pressure sales pitch to sell more windows. He was very easy to work with and provided straightforward information and a very reasonable estimate to replace all the windows in the house. He even took the time to work up a separate estimate for possibly resizing some of the windows for comparison. I had gotten estimates from a couple other companies and by far Chesapeake Thermal was the best. I liked that they are a family owned business and working with them I found that they stand behind their products and care about the services they provide. The members of the install crew were professional, efficient and friendly. They completed the job in about 8 hours and it was like they were never here when they left. During the install, they identified one window that needed a repair and Chesapeake Thermal arranged for the window company to send out a repairman to fix it and followed up on completing the window install. I am very satisfied with their customer service and prices and recommend Chesapeake Thermal for window replacement.

The doors appear to be very high quality. I had replaced the storm door less than 2 years ago with a Pella from Home Depot, but moisture got in at the seam, and since it was filled with sawdust, it was exploding in a spot at the bottom. Tom (the owner) came out to give me the estimate. He was nice, and not pushy at all. Very knowledgeable about doors- explained to my why my door was exploding at the bottom (not because of my puppy- which is what another company rep had told me) The cost was high, but for quality doors, in line with other quotes. My only "complaint" is that the helper on the job, although nice- seemed a little lazy. He spend a lot of time sweeping up the rubbish from the old door and frame, but after they left I found a good portion of the rubbish was simply swept under the closet door in the foyer. When I went in to get a coat, there were hinges, pieces of broken wood, and lots of white powder. Also, the new storm door is a little tricky to switch from screen to glass. It would have been nice for them to give me a demo to show me how to work it- I had to stop them before they left and ask. He did it quickly, but left the screen open on the bottom. This won't work with my puppy- it would be destroyed in seconds. So I had to figure out how to get the screen on top/glass on bottom. And then when it started to rain, how to get it to be all glass. It is not very easy, and the glass is pretty heavy and slams down. Would be nice to have some printed directions. But so far as the doors themselves, I am pleased with them.

Their price was definitely competitive with other door companies that offer quality products (i.e., not the cheap doors you find at big box stores). The doors arrived on schedule, were professionally installed by the owner's family-team, and the final fit and finish is superb. We were extremely impressed throughout the process of dealing with this family owned and operated company, and are thoroughly pleased with our purchase and the finished product. Chesapeake Thermal is a 5-star, A+ business in every way. This is the company to call if you want quality products installed in your home by professionals you can trust. We absolutely recommend Chesapeake Thermal without hesitation, and will definitely use them when we need to replace other doors or windows.

I called Chesapeake Thermal because of their wonderful reviews on Angie's List and I couldn't have been happier. Tom Dawson, the owner, came out within a few days of my call and gave me my options, without any sales pressure. It took about six weeks for the windows to come in, just as he had advised me. He also told me that it would probably take 2-3 days to complete the installation. John, Eddy, and Chris completed the work within 2 days. Not only were they professional, they were very thorough. I am so happy with the quality of the windows and quality of the installation that I ordered a replacement door from them. I can't wait to have that installed!

Chesapeake Thermal was very easy to work with and did an excellent job. They came out for an initial visit late in the day, after I could be home from work. We talked through options for styles of door and color. In fairly short order, my wife and I picked out what we wanted. It took about six weeks for the doors to come in, exactly as predicted. The two workmen who came out to install the door did excellent work and cleaned up after themselves thoroughly. The doors themselves are excellent -- no more drafts around rotting framing, and they glide open and closed effortlessly. Granted, Provia doors are not inexpensive, (though that's out of Chesapeake Thermal's control), but it seems you do get what you pay for in this case -- well worth it.

I purchased five windows for $1,999 via a BIG DEAL. When the owner, Tom Dawson, came to the house to measure, I explained that I wanted to replace > five windows & the storm door & that I wanted a step up from the windows offered in the BIG DEAL. He patiently & thoroughly explained all available options. The installation took one and one half days & was done entirely by the owner, Mr. Dawson. When completed, Mr. Dawson demonstrated the features of the windows to me.

I contacted this company after doing a fairly extensive review on Angie?s List for companies that provide windows and siding. They were very polite on the phone and worked with me to set up a convenient appointment that was within a few days of my call. The owner, Tom Dawson, came out to price our project. He was very thorough while surveying the project. He asked questions to make sure he understood the scope of the project and what we were looking for, provided helpful suggestions regarding what might be more cost effective and answered all of our questions regarding the differences in types of products available. They provided a clear and concise bid in less time than they said they would. During the estimate process, it became clear that we also needed to have some work done to the foundation (replace/repair chipped and cracked parging/stucco) and to the bricks on the front of our house (cleaning, sealing and repainting) Their price for windows and siding was actually the lowest out of all of the companies we talked too. The only reason we did not choose them for the project was because I could not find the same quality contractor or competitive enough price for the other tasks to combine with this one to make it the most cost effective. If I ever have a need for work that Tom could provide in the future, I would definitely contact them.

Chesapeake Thermal was a wonderful company to work with. Tom came out to measure our front door and talked with us about different options for a new entry door. He was happy to share information about prices for different options and didn't push us toward one option or another. Both he and Nancy were very responsive and helpful over the phone and by email. The man who installed the door was excellent -- did a fantastic job, really knew what he was doing, and worked carefully but also efficiently. Chesapeake Thermal was really a pleasure to deal with from start to finish and we'll definitely be contacting them again when it comes time to replace other doors, windows or siding!

It was good and everything turned out really good. They were professional and installed everything. I think it was an affordable price. It took a little bit for the windows to come in. I think we went above and beyond the install, there is a couple of snags probably about $1700 total. I would use them again in the future.

We have been very pleased with this service. We appreciated the professionalism and trustworthiness of Tom Dawson. No hard sell. Work was completed within 2 days. End result is great. We did have some minor issues (lock stuck on one door, window not sliding properly on another). Company responded promptly and quickly resolved these issues. I initially contacted Chesapeake Thermal to get an estimate for replacing all the windows and sliding glass doors on the house. But I had to have some other work done which left me with less money to do the windows so I could only replace the double sliding glass doors. The house is currently rented out and I live about 1 1/2 hours away, but the tenant reported that the crew who replaced the doors were very courteous. The doors look great. When I am ready to replace the windows I would definitely contact them.
