Once they looked at the windows, they said they didn't need replacing just a repair. The provided a recommendation for a company to do the repairs. How wonderful to find such an honest company that doesn't sell something that isn't needed. We will definitely call them when we do need to replace the windows!

I was very pleased with the quality and the workmanship. I felt very comfortable with him being in the house. When the windows came in they called and scheduled the appointment. They arrived within the time window given. Prior to the window replacements I had some leaks around the window and the spent a lot of time ensuring that there were no leaks and replaced some of the wood around the window.

very punctual, workmen were great. Price was a bit above some big corporate competitors, but the workmanship more than made up for it. All competitors just sent out a salesman, Chesapeake sent out an actual installer that could correctly diagnose some of our house's flaws/unique attributes.

Really impressed with the professional service. From the beginning Matt came to our home to discuss options for replacing the front door. Although the door was a bit more expensive than the big box stores I was sold on the quality of the product and installation I would receive from Chesapeake Thermal. I was not disappointed. I dealt directly with the family, they were very responsive and worked around my schedule to complete the project.

Chesapeake Thermal did excellent work, from the bidding process through installation. They did not pressure us and they simply had the best price and the best team for our needs. When there was a slight flaw in a few of the windows (the manufacturers' fault, not CT's), they immediately notified the manufacturer and we had those windows replaced. The flaw was relatively minor, but I appreciated that the installer immediately pointed it out and assured me it would be fixed. The installation process was quick and the crew cleaned up beautifully. We are very happy with our vinyl replacement windows and with the ease of working with Chesapeake Thermal. Even though ours was not a big job, they appreciated our business and we appreciated their dedication to customer service.

Excellent from beginning to end.Chesapeake Thermal was very efficient in every way. From the first time I contacted them until completion. Had to move the install date around due to inclement weather, but they kept at it until installed. They do not use hard-sell tactics like many window installers, but show their products and give you the facts. Matt, was very knowledgeable about all of their products and answered all of are questions. Didn't need a dog and pony show. How refreshing.

I scheduled an estimate with Chesapeake Thermal based on their A+ ratings on Angie's and 30+ years in business. This was the 4th estimate I received. Matt and Tom came out based on OUR schedule and actually MEASURED! our windows and brought a sample of the actual window they would install. Their approach was NO pressure/no obligation. Matt and Tom spent adequate time with us and explained the options we could have (even though they we were limited based on our HOA). After all was said and done they were 3K less than the lowest of the other 3 estimates. Tom stated that it would take about 45 days to have the windows manufactured to our specs and on the 44th day, they were ready for install. Again, they worked around OUR schedule to set up a date that worked for us. Eddie and his crew showed on time (actually 15 mins early) to begin work, stating that it should take 2 days to complete the install. They worked tirelessly throughout the day to complete the job in ONE day due to incoming inclement weather. They respected our home by cleaning up as they went and left no traces of them even being there. We purchased Vynex windows, (Potomac model I believe) are very good quality and they look great. My 5 year old granddaughter can actually open them with one hand. The locking mechanisms feel very secure, the house already feels quite a bit warmer and we no longer feel any drafts. The windows come with a transferable lifetime limited warranty as well. Best part is we received 18 months no interest financing on the spot. I highly recommend Chesapeake Thermal.

Went great. Met with sale reps mat and Tom and even though I did my homework on what products were good for me, they explained my options and helped me on choosing what would work best and keeping me close to my budget. No hard sell. John and Joe showed up on selected time and after talking to me about what was going to be done got right to work.They did not rush to get done and made sure everything was right before they left. My home was built in 1942 and I have all natural wood trim all through the house. They had to remove the wood trim from around the doorway, recut it to size and than reinstall. Looks perfect. Price was higher, but got the job done with no aggravation and a nice finished job.Also, cleaned up before they left. This is a good family business.

Overall, I'm very happy with my entry and storm door installation. It's a beautiful entry door and the bottom line is you get what you pay for. The price of the doors was more than what I wanted to spend, but I don't regret doing it and I wish I was able to purchase this door years ago and I wouldn't of had to keep buying entry doors. This door will last for many years to come and will be a blessing this winter on conserving heat and decreasing electric costs. The installation process was great and I felt like this company was very neat and clean with no mess afterwards. What I liked most about my experience with Chesapeake Thermal is their follow up skills. From the time I sat down with Matt to questions afterwards about my door, they always returned my phone calls promptly and efficiently. The owner Tom was great in that he came to the house in addition to Matt on the day we purchased the door to answer any additional questions and he followed up with phone calls after the door were installed. Matt patiently guided us through the options to select our new door. He took measurements, provided and estimate, and followed up with the contract/order form. Within a couple of days, Tom came out to confirm all measurements before placing the order for the doors. When John and his co-installer arrived, they quickly set up drop cloths inside our home, then began to remove the existing door. It quickly became obvious that the builder used a few shortcuts when our home was built. The installation team found rotten wood, out of square angles, and ultimately, where and why our old door became so damaged. There was nothing above the door to keep water from pouring in and saturating the entire wood frame. The team installed a metal fascia to prevent damage to the new door. Overall, they did an amazing job! We were looking for a family-owned business and I'm confident we found one of the best.

Exceptionally well. Pro Via sliders were installed. The 2 man crew worked efficiently and CLEAN. Surprised and pleased with their level of expertise and attention to detail. Yes, I could have gone to a big box store and paid half. But then the quality would not be there. That's why I needed doors... The last pair were poorly installed and rotted. You get what you pay for and the jobs that Chesapeake Thermal has done for us have cost a bit more but have been well worth the price just to have the quality.

We had to replace six windows on our upper level of our townhouse. The ones that were replaced were installed by the builder and over time they began to warp and fog up plus you could feel the draft coming through especially in the winter. We had a special need to replace two in the back of our house as we live of off route 3 and the noise could be quite annoying. After looking at various reviews and referrals by neighbors of companies that they used we selected Chesapeake Thermal after the reviews through Angie's List and the BBB. Tom Dawson stopped by and showed us two brands that he recommended (Vytex and Soft-Lite). I asked him about Simonton which our neighbor's have but he felt that the other two would do better especially the Vytex. After doing some research on both and we selected the Vytex Fortis series. Tom also explained what would be best for this area and he suggested the R-4 windows. The installation was done by his brother and nephew and it went extremely well. We are very pleased with the windows and the noise from the route 3 traffic is greatly reduced so much so that I now can sleep through the night. We greatly appreciate the manner of his presentation and his no "bending your arm" in signing a contract. That is a very stark contrast to a highly rated firm whose sales rep was extremely aggressive, promoting the same window but at an R-5 grade for $1100 more. I presume that you have to pay for advertising. We plan to have some more windows replaced in the future and there is no doubt that we would contact Tom and his company We highly recommend them as we have told some of our neighbors.

Our experience with Chesapeake Thermal was excellent-right from beginning to end. This was a big project and we received 4 different quotes from companies well reviewed on Angie's List. After lots of discussions and reflection we decided to go with Chesapeake Thermal. Dealing with Tom, owner and the one doing the quotes, was very positive. Tom and his team were very responsive to our questions and queries and understood our priorities and budget. We particularly like the fact that Chesapeake Thermal did not use an external crew but their own team. John, the main installer, is in fact Tom's brother. The installation process took quite some time due to the rainy weather we had in April/May but we preferred to only install when there was no rain forecast. Craftsmanship was excellent and the rooms looked good and clean after the windows had been installed. We had some minor concerns after the installation involving the inner wooden frames of the windows and Chesapeake Thermal sent out another member of their team to fix that. All in all--we are delighted and will recommend the company to others.

Tom and his nephew came to help us plan the project, and his brother performed the installation. They were all incredibly easy to deal with. They were prompt, showing up exactly on time, and they cleaned up after themselves really well. Everything held up through the winter, and so far, it's been great!

This is the second time I have done business with the Dawsons' at Chesapeake Thermal. Each time I have obtained price quotes from others and Tom has been competitive with the bigger names. The real difference is the fact that when dealing with Tom I know I am dealing with a quality person, not just a salesman out to make a buck and move on to the next sale. He takes his time explaining the various options available to you and assists in helping you through the process to ensure you are getting the best product to meet your needs. His wife Nancy then works with you to schedule the best time to install based on your time requirements and low and behold Tom's brother John then arrives at your door to perform the install. Did I mention this is a family business? John does a great job ensuring that his work area is safe and the cleanup met my wife's high standards. These folks take pride in their work, are professional, and make sure that your needs are met, start to finish. I would recommend Chesapeake in a heartbeat.

Our new house, built in 1981, came with some very drafty wood windows that would not fully close. Actually, they would have been drafty even if they had closed fully. Initially, we couldn't imagine choosing anything but wood windows for purely atheistic reasons. But, vinyl windows are so much more practical, so we wanted to keep an open mind. We got bids from four highly-rated companies, but we opted for Chesapeake Thermal for two main reasons: 1) Tom Dawson, the owner, was quite willing to install any type of windows we wanted, while the competitors were more wedded to one brand; and 2) the windows would be installed by a team led by Tom's brother, John. The first reason was important to us because it was hard to get reviews on the windows that the competitors proposed to install. These brands were usually manufactured locally by a company with which the installer had a relationship. I can see that there could be advantages to doing business this way, and to be honest, the various brands had very similar features. Yet, I got a certain piece of mind choosing a national brand that was widely reviewed on many internet sites. Chesapeake Thermal has a preferred brand, Soft-Lite, that is manufactured in Ohio and used nation wide. The second reason that we went with Chesapeake Thermal is probably more important. There are several excellent windows to choose from, but the proper installation of the windows is the key to their performance. Again, I got peace of mind knowing that the installation would be performed largely by the family of the owner. It is common practice in the in industry to contract the installation to an independent contractor. While the other companies we considered seemed careful about whom they hired to do the installation, we felt even more comfortable with Chesapeake Thermal because our work would be done by a family-owned and operated company that cares deeply about its reputation. We haven't seen a huge decrease in our heating bill since the windows were installed - nor did we expect to - but the house is much more comfortable. For example, on a cold, windy day with the thermostat set at 70 degrees, the house used to feel rather chilly. Now, we are much more comfortable on blustery days at the same thermostat setting. Also, since the new windows are so easy to open and close tightly, I'm sure we will be using our A/C less this summer. Chesapeake Thermal was not the low bidder, but Mr. Dawson knows he is in a highly competitive business, and his proposal was reasonable. Considering the control they have over the installation process, the slightly extra money we spent was well worth it. They focus on doing top-quality work and let referrals generate the customers. We are completely satisfied with our new windows and our decision to go with Chesapeake Thermal.
