Received a grant from the City of Bowie. This required a lot of time and effort on the part of Tom Dawson because of the "red tape." Although the effort was closely monitored and the schedule was dictated by the grantor everything went well and I am very pleased with the result. Hard to even imagine a better experience!

From meeting with Tom during the sales process through final installation, Chesapeake Thermal was very professional and provided good communication. I ordered new patio doors with blinds in the low E glass and a sliding screen. The patio doors are the ones that look like french doors not the sliding kind. Tom measured and took time answering my questions about features and options. The doors had to be ordered and Tom said it would be approx. 6 weeks. I marked my calendar and exactly when he said they would be in I received a call from the office saying they were in. Due to the excess rainfall we have had this Spring, she indicated it would be about a week before they could install them. She scheduled it for the following Friday at 10. The two installers arrived on time and got right to work. They even put down mats to protect the carpet. It took about 5 hours to get the old doors and jamb pulled and to install the new doors, jamb, and trim. They were friendly, professional, and efficient. When they left I couldn't even tell they had been here except for the new doors. The filled the little nail holes and even had paint to cover the holes they filled. Great job! I had some rotten wood. Their install was good. I feel like other people would have charged me a lot more money for the finishing touches. Everything went as they explained to me from the time they quoted me to the install.

Tom Dawson and his crew at Chesapeake Thermal Enterprises are outstanding and have great integrity. We first met Tom when we were shopping for 22 new windows for our house. We met with many people, but Tom was the only one who was not hard-sell and gave us good information about his products and the pros & cons of each. We selected him for the job and we could not have been happier. The installation was quick (2 days) and after they left, you would not known they had been here -- no mess, no issues. They also stand behind their work & products. When we had a small issue with a window, they responded immediately and worked with us and the manufacturer to get it fixed. They also fixed a leak we had around a window, that had nothing to do with their installation, gratis. Based on that experience, when we needed some doors replaced, we called Tom. He came right out and walked us through the doors of several manufacturers, and helped us decide the right door and price-point for our requirement. Again, the installation was fast & painless. We highly recommend Tom & crew and will call on him again for any additional needs.

We chose Chesapeake Thermal because we liked that we were dealing directly with the owner and that it was a family-owned business. There were no pressure sales tactics or bashing other companies in order to compete for our business. I was a bit concerned that the estimate was so low compared with the other estimates we received; however, Tom explained that most of their customers are based on "word of mouth" reviews vs high priced advertising and sales reps. Due to the types of windows we requested (2 gardens/1 bay) & weather related issues, there was a minor set back in terms of getting the job completed on time, but overall I was very happy with the end result. The crew was very friendly and concientious about cleanliness. One of the installers, John, went out of his way to repair/replace a busted tile in the shower after it came off while working on the bathroom window. Overall, I was pleased that we used them and will definitely consider them on future window/door replacements.

Tom Dawson was prompt, professional and helpful during the sales phase. The company was flexible with our dates. John was prompt, professional and helpful during the 2 day installation. He reinstalled one of the old windows in the garage, replacing an older more decrepit one at no charge. He was clean and almost noiseless.

Everyone was a pleasure to deal with. I felt very confident in their ability and the finished product reveals such. The price was a little more than I was counting on and would have liked to have an additional single basement door installed as well, however, I am extremely pleased with what I was able to purchase. A refreshing experience.

We called several of the big name window companies to get estimates. Their estimates seemed to vary according to the time-frame of when you order the windows ( the sooner the better!). We decided to check Angie's List one more time before making a decision and decided to get one more estimate because Chesapeake Thermal had such good reviews. The owner of the company came by and gave us a price which was much lower than the others and he gave one price which would not expire. We ordered the windows a few days later and they were installed within the promised time-frame. So far we are happy with the product. The installers were polite and kept the job-site clean. I would recommend this company to other customers interested in replacement windows.

The installer was not able to come on the scheduled day due to an illness, but he came two days later on a Saturday. He was courteous professional, and meticulous. He took his time to ensure the old door was carefully removed, and the new door properly installed. He did a great job cleaning up afterwards. I love my door and would use this company again in a heartbeat.

Extremely professional, but friendly. Best priced & quality product. Followed up with repairs several years later at no cost to me. They were wonderful. They serviced from 2001-2004.

We had a very pleasant experience with Chesapeake Thermal after looking at one other company. Their price, product quality, and professionalism impressed us from the start. Our need at that time was for a 3-season sunroom, converting part of an outside deck to an enclosed space. They gave us an initial quote after we expressed our needs, and worked with us in all details to make a very livable, bright and beautiful room. Besides using good quality windows, doors and walls they also installed a ceiling fan (we purchased this separately), heater/a/c unit; ran the electric and installed updated smoke alarms in our upstairs bedrooms to bring them to code; they converted a double, double-hung window to a door to open from our daylight finished basement into this new space and added a sliding door to the outside deck from this room. The workmen were polite, professional, and knowledgeable, and completed the project in the time promised. There were no problems encountered and when we had questions well after the job was finished, they were pleasant and helpful. We have no problem recommending them and giving them very high marks; we need more companies like this who listen intently to their customers and keep them happy with their service(s) and products!

We were extremely pleased with the professionalism, promptness, and quality of work and product.The windows look great and we have already seen a difference in keeping the cold air out and warm air in. The windows have also reduced the sound from the highway.We plan on having additional windows replaced within the next couple of months. Excellent company!

First off let me state that the reason I'm writing this over 2 1/2 years late, is that 1) I was not a member of Angie's List at the time, and 2) after seeing the constant reductions in my BGE bill I thought it was time to say THANK YOU! To make a long story short, I had several contractors come to the house to give me estimates and show me their products. One gave a price of $18,000 and I said no thank you...by the time we were at the door it was $16,000 and when we got out the door to his car it was $10,000. I told the guy if he could have an $8,000 price difference within 30 feet, he had proven he was not trustworthy and I moved on. I saw others but they were not the best quality. I then contacted Tom Dawson of Chesapeake Thermal and he came to the house in March of 2010. He was (is) a nice man and in my opinion an honest man. By the end of our little meeting we had an agreement and he placed the order for my doors and windows and on 4 May 2010 they started the install. It took 2 days, but the quality of workmanship was superb and they worked clean. Now, over 2 1/2 years later, I am enjoying a warmer house and much lower BGE bills. I have budget billing and every time it comes up for the review, it goes DOWN! Thanks Tom for a great product and the wonderful service. The ONLY problem I had was a clip or 2 on the storm door broke and I contacted Nancy Dawson and in just a few days they arrived in either the mail or UPS (I don't remember which). Great job C.T. ! I'll be calling you again for patio entry doors when the savings are ready!

Had 2 doors and one storm door replaced. Tom came on the day and time to give an estimate of the replacement of the doors. Went with what he explained about the process. Doors were ordered. They came in around a month later. Made an appointment for installation. Installers came out on agreed day. They removed all old doors and put in the new doors and framing. Took about a half day. The whole process was completely positive.

Tom Dawson, the owner, is great to work with. One of Tom's best attributes is he doesn't push certain door manufacturers. We used three different door manufacturers. We had v-groove cut glass in our old great room hinged doors and we wanted to get the same in the new doors. Unfortunately, the old hinged doors in our great room are no longer manufactured. We could have went with new hinged doors but the new hinged doors have less glass area. Tom suggested looking at sliding doors and we were pleasantly surprised to find Alside offers a French style sliding door with colonial v-groove cut glass. As an added bonus, the new doors have more glass area than the old doors. Understandably, we ran into an issue with the door delivery. We thought the doors would arrive in a different sequence. I asked Tom to install whatever doors arrived first and he obliged. We also had an issue with the molding around the great room doors. The new molding would have had to be custom ordered and I asked Tom if we could keep the old molding. The installers carefully removed the old great room doors and installed the new doors with very little damage to the molding. Caulked was applied and you would never know old molding was used. Tom took $200 off the final price as compensation. Tom's brother is the installer. He works with a helper and they did a great job. He listened to me during and after the doors were installed and made any adjustments I asked (e.g., make the sliding doors open easier).

Tom Dawson, the owner, came out to give an estimate on installing a replacement patio sliding door. He offered a competitive price on 2 brands that we were comfortable with and after checking reviews and BBB ratings, we chose Chesapeake Thermal. The installation was performed about a month after the sales visit and the installers were friendly and professional. We are very happy with our new door and would definitely consider the company for future window and door work on the home. Thanks so much!

Three vendors were chosen to provide estimates, and Chesapeake thermal provided the most thorough sampling and estimate. We chose Ches Thermal as one of them based on their reviews. We were able to physically view each of the window options at our home. Tom was very professional and knowledgeable of the products. They provided a timeline and stuck to it. They replaced 13 windows in two days, and did so very professionally - you would never know they were there. Everyone at the companny was extremely good to work with. We are replacing the last 13 windows later this year and will not hesitate to call Chesapeake Thermal, again.

My experience was great. After receiving approximately 5 estimates from 5 different companies I decided to go with Chesapeake Thermal. Their price was the most competitive for the exact same product and work. Also the gentleman who came out and did the work is the owners brother and has been replacing doors for more than 20 years, which for me is very important. I did not want a company who was going to sub-contract out the job, ie..lowes, home depot. When he was finished I was very pleased with the work and how nice it looked. overall great job.

This was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Tom gave us our estimate and took very precise measurements. The order was filled correctly. The windows arrived with the correct fit, very snug. Two of the four windows were upgraded to laminated to help damper noise from a busy highway nearby and they are working out for us. All four windows are very nice quality. The most important part of window replacement is the installation, critical to the windows function. We cannot say enough great things about the crew's technique and expertise...the installation was superb. Over the next few years we hope to replace the remaining 16 windows....Chesapeake Thermal will get the job.

Overall, it was an excellent experience. The company stayed in contact with us, and kept us informed of start dates. The experience started with the estimate. We had gotten a recommendation for this company from a friend. The owner of the company, Tom Dawson, came out and gave us the estimate, as he does with all their clients. He gave us many options of windows and siding to choose from, and also took the time to explain the differences thoroughly. He also worked with us to get the most bang for our buck, by suggesting alternatives that would work but still fulfill all our requirements (and a few of our wants rather than needs!). The window installers worked quickly and efficiently. If we weren't having the kitchen window and dining room windows replaced with fancier windows, they could have replaced all 11 windows in a single day. As it was, it only took 2 1/2 days for all the windows to go in. The windows were installed by the company owner's brother (and maybe a co-owner) and his son. The doors were put in on the day after the windows were finished. Both men were friendly and (mostly) professional. The only problem was that one day when he came to install the doors, there were other contractors here also, and he was upset that they got here first and parked in the driveway. He didn't ask if the other contractor could move his truck, he just went home for the day. I have the feeling it was just an exceptionally bad day for him. He called that night to say he'd be back the next day, and apologized for the earlier fit of pique. The siding was installed by a single person. Eddie was wonderful to work with. I was called the day before the siding was delivered, and given a start date. Eddie showed up on time, and had the siding up in 4 days, including new soffits, gutters and downspouts. He was very careful with removing the house numbers my father made for the house, and put them back up to my specifications when the front siding was finished. He was very friendly, and professional, also. He also worked very, very hard - I don't think I ever saw him take a break. Eddie even showed up for work while very sick. He looked and sounded awful, but did a tremendous amount of work before calling it a day only a couple of hours early. I very heartily recommend Chesapeake Thermal for windows, doors, and siding. In fact, a neighbor stopped by to ask who did our doors, so I gave her their card.

Tom Dawson, who is the main owner of the company, was immediately responsive when we called to say we needed two doors replaced following a brake in. He came within a day, set up a schedule on when he could do the work, helped us negotiate information needed for the insurance company and made some adjustments for which he quickly responded with alternative pricing and needed quotes. He was responsive to our request to "harden" the door installations so that if another robbery attempt was made, a would-be thief would have a harder time. The doors were delivered and installed in a single day shortly afterwards, the installation was excellent. Tom is low key, friendly, and easy to communicate with, he is not high pressure sales. The product his company is named after is a good one, available in a wide variety of styles. The quality of the work on the installation was great.
