Just replaced a pressure tank 5/2024, cost me over 3K! According to Angi, This Old House and a few other websites, it should be 400-800! It's part my fault, because I didn't do my research and didn't ask the cost up front, But never again!

I called John at about 9:00 AM and asked about getting service on the well pump - the water pressure was almost zero. He told me that he already had 5 similar requests that day but would contact me to come out and service the pump. He didn't call until nearly 5:00 PM but came out and worked until after 8:00 to replace the pump. He was a friendly guy who didn't mind me asking questions and watching what he was doing. I was impressed by his knowledge and I was very impressed by the quality of his work. He carefully examined the wire leading to the pump while he was pulling it out and found 2 wear areas that I didn't even notice before he pointed them out to me. He and Joe did a really professional job installing the pump and the anti torque / rotate device at the bottom. As he was lowering the pump back down, he taped the wire to the supply pipe every 10-15 feet (and that's a lot of taping on a 350 foot line) so it wouldn't flop around and wear during pump starts. When he was done he cleaned up absolutely everything at the installation site then went to the accumulator tank and pumped the air pressure to the appropriate level and tested the current draw of the new pump to make sure that it was operating correctly. I was very impressed by all aspects of his service and the effort that he made to service the well pump late on a Friday afternoon. John and Joe get the highest recommendation that I have ever given to an Angie's list service. Thanks guys!

After 34 years our well pump just wore out. I called and they arrived on time the SAME DAY. John's comment "No matter the problem you will have water today. We won't leave you without". Replaced the well pump and all is well. I am very happy with their service and highly recommend them. Note that this is a second generation family-owned business and John is teaching his son to carry on. Bravo!

Lost pressure late Friday night. Called West Well Pump Service @ 7AM Saturday. They answered immediately and were on-site in less than 4 hours. John checked for potential less expensive problems, but it turned out to be the well pump (it was 40 years old and well past usual lifetimes for well pumps). He pulled the pump, replaced the wiring (175' on a 169' well), added torque guards and other wiring shields before lowering the pump back down. He re-wired a control box (did not need a new one), pumped air into the pressure tank, and checked out everything before he left. A total of 3 hours. This is family-owned operation and the owner did the service. He brought years of experience and it showed in his professionalism, knowledge, and efficiency. I was quite worried when we lost water pressure going into the weekend, but John was very responsive. If you need well service, call these people.

Description of Work: Replaced well pump. Quick and efficient. Price was considerably less than half the estimate received from another firm. Tested other components of the system and gave honest assessment of when additional upgrades should be made.

Had first issue with water pressure over the weekend. John arrived at the house within 90min of my call on Saturday. He did not find any issues with the well and thought the issue might be a clogged filter. He could have easily tried to simply sell me a new well pump at a much higher cost, but instead did the honest thing (even though I was ready to put in a new pump then). He left me his contact info and assured me he'd be out promptly if the issue returned. Water pressure was great the rest of the weekend and thru Monday. Then Tuesday morning the issue returned. I called John and he set a time in the afternoon when he could come to the house. This time he was able to immediately diagnose the issue. Turned out the bearings in our well pump were shot, and it was a slowly deteriorating condition (thus why his equipment showed everything as fine on his first visit). His work in replacing the pump was diligent and professional. He showed me the problem with the old pump. He explained everything he saw along the way, assuring me that everything else with the well looked great. He corrected some minor wear and tear, and corrected some issues he found with the prior installation. He explained my options for a new pump, and never tried to up sell me. Very pleased with the work performed, and feel like I got good value for my money.

They were excellent. They showed up on time and responded quickly. They told me what I needed and it worked. When I called them several years later concerned that the pump they installed failed, they came promptly and demonstrated to me that it worked. This helped in locating what my real problem was.

Description of Work: Well water was pulsing and drawing iron deposits from the well. Tank was full of water with no room for air and could not be repaired. West Well Pump Service replaced the tank with a larger one which would help ease the burden on our well pump and clear our water. We were very happy with their understanding of the problem and how they explained the situation to us. They thoroughly examined the system and cleared up the pulsing and rust deposits with the repairs they made. I will definitely call them again if we experience any other well problems.

Spoke with John who was very friendly and explained what materials he would use and why and was very informative. The only reason we did not select West Well is because we needed to have an old well closed / abandoned and they did not provide that service. We went with the company that drilled the well because they included that service as part of their estimate for the pump. In thinking it through, we thought maybe it would be better to use the same company that drilled the new well. That being said, we would definitely call West Well Pump Service in the future if we have a need for service because their price was competitive and we feel they would do good work based on their responsiveness and the conversations we had with John.

When I called Friday I left a message and then got a callback from John West about an hour or so later. I explained the problem and he said that he could come out that afternoon. I couldn't meet him then but setup an appointment for Monday (today). He came when he said he would (which has been a problem with other companies I've hired - no call no show).and I demonstrated what my water system was doing which was a constant cycling of the pressure booster. He immediately knew what the problem was and took apart the pressure booster unit thinking it was clogged and found that it was. He replaced that with a better unit and then used an air compressor to inject air into the pressure tank that had been lost. The water pressure was significantly better after that and the system cycled on and off the way it should - a lot less often without any significant drop in pressure when cycled down. The whole process from start to finish took about an hour and a half plus 86 dollars in parts. I had expected the bill to be more based on previous experiences with plumbing in general.
Description of Work: John West the owner replaced the pressure booster gauge and valve for my well water system. Also, used an air compressor to revive the pressure tank. I was having a problem with the pressure dropping and the pressure booster kicking in too many times.

Noticed that my well casing had rusted through exposing our well to surface contamination. West Well had replaced our pump several years before so we call them back. Despite some trouble coordinating schedules with the welder, they showed up on our preferred schedule and repaired the casing in about an hour. Great price, very nice work. They also found another problem in our accumulator tank when testing out the system. Family owned, and work performed by owner. He really cares about his work. Nice and thorough.

I called West Well Pump Service at 6:45 a.m. because as we were filling a small pool the day before, a lot of dirt and debris started coming out of the hose. Then, when we turned on inside taps, they were also emitting water with a lot of particulate matter. A quick search on the internet had shown that something might be wrong with our well, so I wanted to see if we could get someone out the next day. I was surprised to get a person on the phone, rather than an answering machine, at such an early hour. The gentleman on the phone, John, explained that they had to take care of someone who was completely out of water first, then they would come out, but he couldn't say what time. I was fine with that, and appreciative that they could even fit us in after a holiday weekend. John and his assistant arrived around 2 p.m. because the previous job had turned out to be a big one. They got right to work, checking both the well and the pump. I hung around because I'm trying to learn all I can about maintaining our well system, and John was great about explaining things as he went along, as well as answering my questions. They determined that there was nothing wrong in the system, that our well is probably a little low producing, and that we'd need to be careful about managing it so we don't draw too much water off at once. I thought the bill might be a little high for the approximately 20-30 minutes they spent here, but have no other company to compare it to. Above all, I'm happy with how well this service provider communicated and then showed up on a busy day.

A call was placed to West Well Pump Service the next morning, and they were at my home exactly at the time I was told (10:15 am). Based on the information given about my problem, he brought with him the parts he thought might be needed to correct my "no water" problem in one visit. To learn what was causing the problem, the first thing that had to be done was to go down "the hole". "The hole" is an underground area in my backyard which contains the original well for my home (built in 1957) and the water holding tank as well as pipes, electric wiring, control box/switches, etc. On top of "the hole" is a 300+ pound cover that is very difficult to remove. Once it was off, it was discovered that there was a flood in the hole (approximately 3 ft of water) and the holding tank was floating nearly on its side. So the first step was to remove all of the water before he could even start diagnosing the problem. It took about 3 hours from start to finish, including checking out other parts of the well system to make sure they were all working properly and not in need of any repair or replacement. I was kept informed throughout the repair as to what he found that was not working (a switch got stuck in the ON position, which caused the problem), and what he checked that was working and should continue to work for hopefully many more years. He could have easily convinced me to replace the water tank and other parts that I knew were old. Instead, he checked them out and said he felt there were at least several more years I could get out of them and he did not feel it was necessary to spend the money to change them at this point. I felt that the amount charged (approximately $500) was not only fair ... but less than I anticipated the work would cost. He was punctual, straightforward, respectful, professional and a delightful person to deal with. I hope I don't have any well problems in the near future ... but if I do, West Well Pump Service is who I will call!
Description of Work: When I left my home at 4 PM on Tuesday afternoon, I had running water. When I returned home one hour later and tried to wash my hands, I discovered I had no water! After checking to be sure there were no floods anywhere, I started to call for a plumber. I quickly learned that most plumbers do not do work that involves wells and well pumps. I called Coleman's Plumbing based on reviews on Angie's List. I left a message and sent him an email (his write-up said that he can often respond faster to emails than phone calls). It was well after regular office hours at this point so I did not expect to hear from anyone until the next morning. To my surprise, it was only a few minutes later that Mark Coleman (owner of Coleman's Plumbing) called back to let me know he does not do wells .... but gave me the name and number of a person who does and Mark was aware of several clients who had used his services. He gave me the number for West Well Pump Service (AKA Bob's Well Pump Service).

Excellent service. A small family-run father and son business. Honest and straightforward. Explained a complicated well and filter system in plain English. Focused on the basics i.e. a previous large well-known will service a company had inadvertently bypassed/turned off our filter/water softener system and a subsequent visit from a worker from the same company later assessed the system to be broken and needed to be replaced at a cost of $3-$4000. Disgraceful.
Description of Work: Evaluated intermittent failure of water pressure and changed a pressure valve. Tested the submersible pump and said that while it was getting old it did not need to be replaced now but needed to be watched. Fixed a leaking joint. Assessed our water softener and filter system which another company told us needed to be replaced at a cost of $3-$4000. Determined it to be working fine.

We had been in a house with a well for 3 years, and I have never used a well before. It was printed in their sticker that we could call them in case of any trouble. When I turned on the tap, there was no water. I called them to solve that problem. The owner came right up and taught me everything about what was going on. He has been very proactive with regular maintenance and that kind of stuff. He was fantastic. He does his work quickly, and whatever he does is right.
